This is a solid local burger joint. The service was friendly and the food came out fast. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries and both were tasty and less greasy than you might normally expect for a place like this. I can’t wait to come back and try the breakfast burrito since more than one person I know has raved about it!

I eat lunch here about once per week. I always get fast service and delicious food (even when its busy). Some people complain about the woman who takes orders who isnt exactly warm and fuzzy. She’s fine. She always gets the order right. And, really, what is it that you want to talk about with the counter lady except your food?! They give tons of fries that are always fresh and have a daily special that reasonably priced. Usually under $ 8. The menu is huge and one day I will try something different but for now I’ll stick with my burger fries, and a drink for $ 6.59.

Awesome burger joint! Nothing to thrill or amaze however you always know what you are getting. Friendly and fast service, try the avocado bacon burger, it is better then the chain, however if you are a meat lover like myself get the double meat (thin pattie). Overall, good place to grab a bite!

Service: This is just based on my short interaction with the lady that took my order. She didn’t look like she wanted to be there and I guess that how most of us feel. The only thing is she is the first and maybe the only person that people see of this place so it might be better to throw a welcoming smile every once in a while. It was an ok experience maybe it was just an off day.
Food: breakfast burrito was below standard. It was very plain with no taste at all; the hash browns were like bitting into a plain tasteless potato. The eggs had a consistency like they were cooked hours before. For breakfast it was not good at all.

Disgusting! I pulled two medium-length hairs from my mouth as I ate the French-toast! We called to complain and they just kept trying to give us more food — as if we could eat more after finding hair in it! Not only do i have hair to my waste, it was tucked up in a bun for hours, so there’s no chance this could have been my own.

This place is boss. Way better than a fast food chain. They have four burger/fry/drink meals for like $ 28.00 and the food is way higher quality than a chain.
And their breakfasts are stupendous

Probably the worst breakfast I have ever had. Omelet was really dry, over cooked and super salty. Toast came burnt and hash browns were raw. Second time I have eaten here and both were pretty bad. I gave it a 2 star because the lady was pretty nice but the food was a 1 at best!
Save your money. There are much better greasy spoons around.

Came for breakfast today. 2 orders of the pancake special: comes with 3 pancakes, eggs, and bacon or sausage. Delicious food. Service as good. Food is made as you order it so a little bit of a wait– but worth it!

Mediocre food. TERRIBLE attitude.
NEVER eat a food order that’s not yours.
I ordered ham and eggs. They dropped off a plate at my table with missing ham but I wasn’t about to make a scene. Started eating and the lady owner yelled at me for eating a mistaken plate. Why am I eating «someone’s else food» ?!!
What’s worse, they never apologized or brought my ham.

A few reasons why bill’s is great.
1. Prices — their prices, if you order the right items on the menu — are fantastic for an OC restaurant. For example, you can get pancakes, bacon, and eggs for $ 6. That’s pretty rare in Newport.
2. Breakfast Burrito’s — Okay these are actually kinda pricey at about $ 6-$ 8 but they are worth it. WORTH IT! Give it a try. I’ve been eating them for about 15 years now.
3. Friendliness — if you are a regular here, the owners are very friendly and treat you like family.
4. Location — right on the border of newport and costa mesa. easily accessible
5. BLAT — Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado, Tomato. Best I’ve had in town. Period.
6. Speed — if you order on the phone, your food is ready within 10 minutes. If you order in the restaurant, the food comes quickly. It is NOT pre-made, so it does take time of course so be reasonably patient.

I’m not family or employed by the restaurant, but I did have a positive experince there.
It’s just fine for what it is. An old school burger joint. Nothing fancy. Just good food at somewhat reasonable prices.
All the previous comments about the rude servers must’ve worked because everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. Our food was delivered quickly, piping hot, and correctly.
The burgers were cooked perfectly and the chili was delicious. Next time I’m going to try the gyro. Several folks said it was good.

I would not recommend this restaurant for a number of reasons. Starting with an encounter I recently experienced. First and most important, is the handling of customers by the owners. The owner and his wife have asked us to never return to this establishment, due to the cleanliness of their food. After a hair was found in our food, instead of making the situation right, they’ve simply asked us to never return. This is clearly an issue that any other establishment would take care of in order to keep customers satisfied. Instead the owner and his wife asked us to never return in front of an entire crowd of customers. This was embarrassing and was uncalled for. The cause for the confrontation was the sanitary condition of the food and the restaurant itself, both of which are highly questionable and should be evaluated by the proper agencies.

Location: Located on the corner of Bristol and Red Hill. You cant miss it
Parking: The parking lot is a good size, never had to much of a problem finding parking even during peek hours.
Looks/Cleanliness: Old school mom & pop diner. Out dated but clean. No problems here.
Service: The real problem with this place is the service. Holy heck is it bad. Having come here over the past year I have never had a average service. Been here about 6 times in the past year. The order takers are poor. If you are going through the drive through, when you get to the window, no one acknowledges you. You just sit and wait. When someone does come to take your credit card, they just take it and close the window. They come back and give you your card and hand you your food. This exact scenario plays out each and every time I go there.
The service is so bad here that I cant give it more than 2 stars, regardless of how average the food is.
Food: The food is average. Nothing special.

$ 13 for a cheeseburger, onion rings and coke.
WTF? Thought this was America.
Cheeseburger wasn’t filling, onion rings were aight and the service was slow.
The family that ordered after us (me and friends) got there food before us (They skipped us!).
They were skimpy on their food too. The burritos weren’t that big, my onions rings was a measly 5 rings and my friends breakfast plate looked small.
Would not come back.

One of the best mom and pops location in Costa Mesa. I always get their breakfast burrito. Sausage bacon hashbrown cheese for $ 7. Or you can get just sausage or just bacon for $ 6. The staff are very nice and friendly. The service is faster in the drive thru rather than dine in which is why 4 stars is all I’m giving them.
