I received a tattoo from Steve but he’s no longer there so Brynne offered to touch it up! She did an amazing job!

The main heavy white guy that take your order was so rude to me. Acted like I wasn’t there 2 weeks ago when I originally got my tattoo done by Steve. He treated me like shit for no reason when I had my touch-​up appointment. I would NEVER go back there again and I plan to tell people about my experience at Gold Rush. Thank God I found where my tattoo guy went through Social Media and plan to go and see him again.

Although I don’t know all the artists at Gold Rush, I do know Lindsey Carmichael quite well. He’s been tattooing me for around 20 years. He’s a well respected, globally recognized artist of the finest caliber. I can also say that, besides being a great tattoo artist, Lindsay is a good man. He could work anywhere. He works at Gold Rush and that tells me what I need to know about the shop. It will be first-​rate.

How I happily ended up artist of my dreams — by accident.
A few years ago i walked into Gold Rush — I was looking for an artist that had previously worked at Gold Coast who was no longer there & ended up as a «walk in» with Lindsey Carmichael. As fate would have it, I ended up in the chair of man who has put the most beautiful art on my body– for that I am forever grateful.
His sheer artistic talent — clean lines and bold color schema across diverse styles and ranges– his creative process from start to finish — professionalism & genuine mutually respectful code conduct make me loyal to end.
The shop is a clean, professional environment — which can a challenge to find — especially as a woman who wants the freedom to have tattoos anywhere on her body.
As a recovering addict I spent many years of my life destroying my body. A beautiful gift of my sobriety has been honoring the beautiful, sacred space that is my body, my home.
Over the years Lindsey has marked the changing tides of life — painting the transformation– my skin his canvas.

After looking at Joel Bones work and portfolio, I knew that he was the artist I was looking for.
I was looking for someone who is great with realism & black and gray shading. So I called in to schedule an appointment with Joel to discuss my tattoo
First thing first, the people working there were extremely friendly and professional!!! I have been in a few shops and found the artists and workers to be unattentive & simply put… in their own little rude bubble.
When I met Joel, he immediately gave off a professional and warm vibe. I could truly tell he loves what he does and was attentive to listening to my ideas. I showed him examples of what I was wanting for my sleeve and he gave great ideas and a general idea of what our first session would compromise of. I have on my forearm to different tattoos and style from 2 different artists. My biggest worry was finding an artist that could work up a sleeve while going around and making it all «mesh» together nicely if you will. Joel eliminated those fears right away and gave a few great ideas on how we could incorporate it all together. I could tell he had a great eye and is a great at his profession.
So without hesitation I scheduled my appointment with him and put down my 100 $ deposit. I am very much looking forward to working with him and creating a beautiful piece!

I’m super thankful to have come across Gold Rush Tattoo through word of mouth awhile back, and even more grateful to have found Lindsey. After doing some research, I finally made my first appointment with him back in April of 2015. We started off with prayer hands on my inner arm, and I’m already almost finished with my ¾ sleeve (currently May of 2016). I couldn’t be any happier with the results. I’ve received countless compliments and inquiries ranging from friends, family, to strangers in regards to Lindsey’s work. During each session, he makes me feel very at ease and frequently checks in with me asking if I need to use the restroom or if I need a little break. To me, that shows that he really cares about how I (the customer) feels and that he’s not just in a rush to finish his work. He’s answered any questions and uncertainties I may have had with honesty, and I really appreciate that. His expertise and experience in this business has really helped me trust him throughout the process and make it a fun one, too. Thank you, Lindsey!

Lindsey Carmichael has done all of my tattoos except 2 that were done by other artists & I even had to have him fix the 2 that the other artists ruined. His lines and shading are so good and people always stop me and ask where I got my work done. I now have a sleeve and a few other tattoos by him and I only want more! His work is the best and I always have a great experience. Looking forward to my next piece by Lindsey!

I went to go get my first tattoo at this place. I was devastated when Zayn split from One Direction, to show my dedication to Zayn I tattooed a lyric from the first song he made as a solo artist. I know it’s dumb but that doesn’t mean I should have a poor quality tattoo! The guy who asked what kind of typography I wanted had glasses and short black hair, he seemed nice. He didn’t show me what it would look like until it was actually on me ready to be inked. I didn’t bother to ask because I was young and dumb. He sent me with another guy named Lindsey to do the work because he was busy doing my friends tattoo. Lindsey asked if I was nervous and asked if it was my first tattoo, I said yes to both. He told me he would only do a little bit at first so I can get familiar with the feeling. He went through the whole thing without stopping. Lindsey noticed I was uncomfortable and said «calm down it doesn’t hurt that much.» I left that place thinking that I was overreacting but after getting another tattoo done in Huntington, I realized what shitty experience I encountered at Gold Rush. My arm was green/​purple when I took the tape off. My friend who had gotten her fourth (?) tattoo said I shouldn’t worry if it’s bruised because it happens. A year later and it’s still green. The lettering is also poor quality. I’m already planning on getting it covered, not because of the dumb saying but because of the quality.

Steve Goodspeed is amazing, he’s helped me with multiple tattoos and always been really cool to work with. He always gives me exactly what i’m lookin for and more! His line work is perfect and he takes his time to make sure its done well. I recommend him to anyone, i always feel safe going to him because i know he does beautiful work every time. you should always feel safe with your tattoo artist and be able to trust them because what theyre putting on your body is permanent/​forever. Steve is the best! :-)

Steve Goodspeed was awesome! I drove all the way from LA to Gold Rush Tattoo and was received with nothing but smile and positive attitude. The woman that greeted us was very friendly and gorgeous. I would definitely go back!

I got 4 of my tattoos with 3 different awesome artists. Joel, Arlene and Aaron. All of them are great! Don’t worry who to choose coz Gold Rush artists are all great. No regrets with new tattoos out! Very clean area and easy going staffs. Already recommended to 2 of my frds and will keep doing! Keep the great work!

I got my first tattoo last night. Brynne was my tattoo artist and she was great. I was very nervous about the entire thing and I emailed her the font a week before. She totally delivered and it came out better than expected. She was very informative, paid attention to detail, super professional and clean, and she was fast. I was finished before I knew it!
I highly recommend Brynne for your tattoo work. She’s amazing! I couldn’t be more happy with my tattoo.

I went in without an appointment and we were taken in super fast! The guys were nice and understanding on how simple of a tattoo my friend and I wanted! Also, got another script on my ribs and came out beautifully!
Definitely come here again :)

Brynne did a wonderful job, the whole experience was enjoyable. Came in to have a cat tattoo for my friend who was celebrating her 50^th birthday and we do not frequent tattoo shops so we were a little intimidated by the process. Reviewed a bunch of tattoo places and decided to go with gold rush tattoo. I am glad that we did. They did not make as feel that we do not belong. The artwork was very creative and she was able to translate the idea into a tattoo that is well loved. If you’re doing your research just like I did, I suggest that you consider this place as a pick. Reviewed by middle aged women.

Halloween 2015 :)
It’s a tradition my friends have been doing for 3 years now, and they invited me this year. We were going to get Halloween tattoos! I was pretty excited. We went to Gold Rush Tattoo in Costa Mesa to see if they had any openings and to my surprise they did :) I had a few ideas, but I really wanted Jack and Zero from, A Night Before Christmas. I showed Arlene (my amazing tattoo artist) the picture I wanted and she drew it up in no time, then tattoo started shortly after that. I was so happy that I got Arlene, she was friendly and very professional and come to find out her son is a huge fan of, A Night Before Christmas, so you could tell she was passionate about the tattoo, which I loved. I highly recommend her, she knows exactly what she is doing and is super gentle with the gun! I know who my new tattoo artist is from now on! Thanks Arlene, you’re the best!

I recently got a tattoo done by Arlene who is new and she’s amazing. I was a little nervous because it was only my second tattoo and it was on my ribs which I knew would hurt but Arlene put me at ease the moment I met her. She has a comforting work style and personality and is easy to work with– not to mention she has incredible talent. I eventually want to get sleeve and after looking at her art I am extremely interested in having her design it. I will definitely be going back to her for more work and recommend her!
Overall I’ve gone to Gold Rush for both of my tattoos and have had nothing but good things to say about the place. My boyfriend also gets his work done there and he refuses to go elsewhere. I would trust anyone in the shop to do a tattoo because they have very high standards!

I called them and asked if they take walk ins (which they do) and told them it was going to be my first tattoo. They were very friendly over the phone and they were very nice and chill in person. The place was very clean and there were a lot of neat art work.
Steve was the guy who did my tattoo and I showed him what I wanted and he was able to create an amazing design for me. I told him it was my first time and he was nice. He did small talk when he noticed I was in pain but over all he stayed quiet and focused, which is something that I appreciated it. He was very professional and talented, I highly recommend him.
I’m very happy with their services and the price seemed right to me. I will sure come back!

I went to Gold Rush this afternoon to get tattooed by Steve Goodspeed and it was an amazing experience! I was super comfortable, he made great conversation and I’m extremely happy with my tattoo I’ll definitely go back in the future!

Came here to get a piece done by Steve Goodspeed. He did a phenomenal job, knew what he was doing, gave me advise on what will work best for my piece and best placement, and is genuinely a nice guy to work with. Will definitely be coming back here to get another piece done in the future!

Very clean, helpful staff. They seem to be busy with all types of tattoos. They accepted walk ins.
I think prices were high. A 30 minute all black tat cost me $ 180. My friend go an intricate peacock feather and sure enough, her guy charged her $ 180.
They never had me fill out a release form, but everyone else did. So I’m pretty sure that’s a big f’ up.
When I paid, they told me it was a $ 5 charge for credit cards. Ridiculous that people would still charge you for that when apparently they make $ 180 on all their tattoos. But the kicker is, when my friend was paying her guy, he told her it was $ 10 to use her credit card. Seems a bit arbitrary and completely nonsensical.
The tattoos look nice but they weren’t special.
