I was at Southcoast doing some clothes shopping and spotted a really pretty Lichtenstein in window(probably how most people end up here). Something about the piece drew me in. While in the gallery, I wondered around and studied their collection. This is a very nice gallery with pricing that is high, but not ridiculously so. The piece I was interested in was within my price range but I decided to wait on it. I made contact with the saleswoman who was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I went home and checked to see how their pricing compared to auction pricing. Although the Gallery was a tad high, the price was reasonable so I returned a few days later and bought the work. Why 4 stars? Although the staff is friendly, it is ABUNDANDTLYCLEAR that the staff work on commission. I got a series of emails that night asking when I was going to come back and the piece will sell quickly, etc. After I bought the piece, the Gallery does everything it can to get you to come back. I have probably gotten 20 emails from the saleswoman trying to get me to come in to buy this or that. Its getting somewhat annoying. To sum up: its a nice gallery, they have high priced yet affordable works(and its a nice mix of classical art and pop art). Be prepared for up-selling and relatively high pressure sales tactics coupled with an enormous amount of follow up. I would urge the managers to get the sales staff to cool their jets a bit. It is a tad uncomfortable. Otherwise, thumbs up.
