Bad service. Nothing special about the food and it was over priced. There was a lack of communication between the staff and worse me as the customer with my order. I will not be returning there or making referrals.

This is a great place to go for a nice sit down lunch or dinner. They have a wide variety of choices, good fish and veggies meals. Very tasty we have been twice now and love both times.

What changed my review about this place was the server I had today: Melissa C. Not only was she super attentive and friendly, but Melissa was also very knowledgeable about the menu. For example, she explained that if the relleno sauce was too mild for me(it is), then I could opt for ranchero or the even more spicy verde(I chose that). Also, she explained that they have a spicier salsa as well upon request – many reviews, including my previous one, bemoan their very mild salsa. Goes to show you how important the service component is to the restaurant experience.

Disappointed overall. Coming in with high hopes for some of the raving reviews of patrons from a few years back — it’s obviously not the same place? Not the same thing? No — something has changed. The food portions are small, very pricey, and while the food quality is not bad, it also is nothing special for such exuberant prices. The wait staff was friendly, I guess, nothing out of the way. Oh and in case you didn’t know, if you order an item with tortillas, they will graciously give you a whole 3 – 4 and then charge you without telling you for any extras. My favorite part was the mushy and tomatoe purée like salsa. Sad. Save some money and go somewhere for a bigger portion and better quality — Sol, Alberto’s, heck even Baja Fresh would be better alternatives.

Been coming here for 30 years, driving twenty-five miles each way for the last 20. Last couple years it’s definitely not as good as in the past — and it used to be great! Much smaller portions in some dishes(Chile Colorado Plate beef portion is no more than a third of what it used to be), plus very inconsistent quality coming out of the kitchen. Used to dine here 30 – 40 times a year, not sure if I’ll ever be back. There are too many better Mexican restaurant options in OC where the portions and quality are more consistent. To the Moore family — Mi Casa has lost it’s way. What a shame.

I’ve been coming to this spot since I was 3! I got the enchilada combo with beans and rice. It bring me back to my childhood with my mom and dipping the tortilla chips in water because they come out hot!

This restaurant has a couple of locations. I’ve been to two so far. The one in Rancho Santa Margarita which looks newer and the Costa Mesa one which looks like it has been there for a very long time. The bar area at this location was larger. It had some tables also in the bar room. This restaurant takes pride in their food. They have extra large portions and the food tastes great. Pride in their food means that they add some special touches to their food. Like they add melted cheese on top of their beans. I’ve never seen another restaurant do that. Their steak fries were huge and fully loaded. They were not cheap with their steak. It looked like a full piece of steak was chopped up and topped on their cheese fries. The complimentary chips and salsa were warm, fresh and good. The only bad thing about it was that it’s so good that you eat too much and then have no room for your meal. They offer many different types of margaritas which are all decently priced. My favorite is the Coco-Rita. Happy Mi Casaing!!!

Long wait and slow service(it depends on the waitress) but food is decent. Normally order, Chicken Taco/Shrimp Taco, Chicken Tamale, Rice, Beans or Corn Salad. A bit excessive amount of cheese but tacos are good in general. Tamale is also good but sometimes it’s cold… You can tell the food was sat there for a bit. Carne Asada… Best to order«Well Done» if you want Medium. Had to send back the meat all the time. Chips and Salsa are great. But their salsa tastes different every time. More like hot or mild. Mango Salsa is great there. Black beans and corn salad, good. Not recommend refrained beans.

So pissed at myself for not triple checking my order. One of the main reasons I drive 20 plus miles to order from Mi Casa is to enjoy the corn salad that comes with my food. Tonight everything but my corn salad is with my food. If they werent so far, I would have went back. So annoying. Otherwise the food and service were fine.

FIRST thing FIRST: This is a locals spot. Patrons here have known the place for years, and if you are a Costa Mesa resident, you know that this is a hit or miss with everything — from food to drinks to atmosphere. Its just baffling to me. why do we still keep coming back? I LOVE delicious Mexican food, and authenticity is important with certain dishes and drinks. Mi Casa lacks in authenticity, flavor and presentation. I mean, how much beans and cheese is absolutely necessary on a plate? Also, it seems that the actual food portion of your taco, burrito or entrée has been minimized and compensated with more cheese. oh well who doesn’t love melted, gloppy cheese? Yep. It is what it is. Staff is average. As many times as the hubbster and I have been here, never we were treated beyond the happiness level. Every server we have encountered here is either content with their life or just hates it. I always manage to see a smile or have a laugh, but its short lived. The staff here seems to be going along with no enthusiasm, and I feel that it may reflect on some patrons, but its not totally disappointing. I always order the 2 item Famous Combo plate of 1 taco and 1 enchilada. Food is lacking in flavor, but it is very filling for the $$. Chips and salsa are tasty, and there is a full and hefty water jug for your own personal quenching. Perks: Dining area is roomy, there is a big bar area in the back. Taco Tuesdays, Happy Hour deals, and Sunday Brunch with $ 5 Blood Mary’s — Yes that is a huge perk! Downsides: Busy place. Especially on weekends and weekend nights. Also like I mentioned about staff, some servers are either all together, or not at all. Meaning, they can come by once, and then never again till you call for the check. Or they can be a little rude, but only to the point where its tolerable. Then again, keep in mind who the manager is just in case. Awesome TIP: The margaritas here are actually not that bad. I have one every time I come here and its been worth it. Worth a try! OverALL: A-OK. Its not amazing, but not horrible either. A hit or miss for sure on food, service and satisfaction.

Every neighborhood has one, a local Mexican restaurant that has been around a long time. A place you don’t mind waiting twenty minutes for a table on a Friday evening because you know you’re going to have a great meal. Whenever we visit our friends in Costa Mesa we meet here to eat. Mi Casa has been around since 1972. The place has a warm cozy feel to it. Even though the décor seems dated, it’s simple yet elegant. The menu offers a range of options from tacos, burritos and enchiladas to carne asada fries. The chips and salsa came to the table first and they are fantastic. I munched on them throughout my meal. My wife and I went for the two item combination plate($ 12.95). We each had a shredded beef taco and a chili relleno with refried beans and rice. When our food arrived I took one look at the plate and could not decide where to start. The taco has so much inside the ingredients spills out with each bite. There is no shortage of cheese here, tons of it on the taco and beans. My daughter enjoyed her order of chicken flautas($ 12.95) served with black beans and a spicy corn salad. She offered me a bite and I gladly accepted. The food is excellent and our waitress was friendly and helpful. Mi Casa is my kind of house!

Seems I need to correct my last rating on Mi Casa! A friend talked me in to going here tonightthe remodeling of the restrooms makes the place cleaner and the foods back to being GREAT! Service was GREAT! It’s all back to what it’s been for years! You’ll enjoy the food and they have a great happy hour too! My friend wants me to mention they have Pac-Man in the waiting area too!
