True Value Hardware of Cotati

I wish I could remember the red headed ladies name, because she so very helpful and understanding. She did her best to help my neighbor who has trouble speaking English. She helped her save her limited income, by providing her with organizations that would help her for free instead of charging her a bunch of money for a uhaul. I went just as my neighbors driver and semi translator. I’ve always gone to Lowe’s when I needed something for myself, but next time I need something I am headed to tru value.

Every time I come here which is not as often as i’d like to shop there, I get the most wonderful customer service. The owner Sam is a delight and his staff really know their stuff. Everything is always organized and easy to find. There are two ladies there, kim and Tracy that crack me up every time i’m there. They laugh and have fun with their job but never forgetting that it is a job and pay close attention to my needs. Also, I dont know who keeps up the garden center (which is mainly why I go) but it always looks so well kept and inviting.

I walk here often with my darling pup and the people are always so welcoming. You can buy exactly what you need, a couple of screws, not a half pound of the damn things. I am a woman with her own power tools and never have I been condescended to. The paint isn’t brilliant unfortunately, but that’s not their fault. Go here — not Lowes.
They have different paint now and it’s great.

Long overdue review here… The gentleman who helped me with a plumbing issue was great. My bf said that there are a lot of small things this store carries that would be difficult to find in a larger home improvement store. They don’t carry everything here, but they do have a lot of things you need. Prices are fair and the staff, in my experience, was incredibly knowledgable and friendly.
I knocked off a star because of ease of access off of 101, store size and lack of some common items. Otherwise, if you’re fed up with the big stores, give this a try.

Great prices and customer service! The employees were very knowledgable and helpful, in which I did not feel rushed or talked-​down to. I went in the other day to look around for ideas for my house and garden, along with having a couple keys made by the employee who introduced himself as, Jack. Jack copied my keys thoroughly and efficiently and afterwards brought me around the store to simply answer the questions I had. I will definitely be back to refurnish my backyard with his assistance, thank you True Value of Cotati!

Everytime my family and I have gone in, all the employees have been EXTREMELY helpful and very nice! We have rented a UHAUL van twice and purchased a variety of items, and we have a great experience every time! Highly recommend!

I know these stores tend to have higher prices than the large chains but it’s not by much and the quality of services is amazing. I frequent this store often and am happy to see hardware stores that are local just like this one.

I went in this store today with a cruddy old drain hose off a dishwasher. There were three guys who were all adamant about helping me. They didn’t have an exact replacement but they literally assembled a hose for me in the store with the fittings i needed to get the job done with out tr yin to sell me other tools to do it my self or anything. I will definitely be shopping here more.

This place is the absolute best!!! If you shop anywhere else for your projects at home, you’re crazy.
This place has everything! if you go in and think that what you needed wasn’t there, chances are they have something that will do the job even better.
The owner is amazing, he will go out of his way to get you what you need, and his employees are equally as helpful.
I have completely sworn off Lowes and Home Depot, this True Value has it all.
Since my first visit to this store a few months ago, I have probably been back a dozen times and it will regularly be back.

I have been going to this store in Cotati for years on and off when I needed something or an explaination on how to do something. I never knew about the reviews until I was looking up the phone number today and saw reviews. Anyway, in calling I explained my situation to Johnny and he said bring it in I’ll fix it for you. I said, I will pay and he said, not for my time, just for the parts. How many places charge you triple for labor for a 35cent part? Not TV. The people there are so nice. Last year I had a plumbing problem, small one it turned out, so before I paid thousands, the female employee at TV gave me a receipe for unclogging the toliet. It works every time. The people that work there are priceless. Forget your big box stores. Pay a little more if you have to, but get the expert advice that these small neighborhood stores give you. Back in the day, an employee was hired and put in a certain department of a store because of their expertise in that department, no matter what store, they knew the department and could give expert advise, that is why you went to that department. Today, no one in the big stores knows anything of their department. I, a female, helped one of the clerks at HD the big box store, with tile measurements for tile. The kid said I needed nine boxes, when I explained 3 boxes of 12″ would do. Needless to say, I left and didn’t buy there. As long as the public doesn’t help these small neighborhood stores, we will be preyed upon by the idiots of the big stores. Saving money is great, but service and knowledge count and that is what you are paying for in the smaller neighborhood stores. This TV is the best.

I can not begin to express how much of a jewel this place is. So unexpected to have so many things, including a mini area for lumber in back. Everyone is so very helpful. We found everything we came to a hardware store for and not only that, but things we couldn’t find locally at other places like half cup canning jars! It was freakin’ a wonderful surprise. Even though we had a limited time budget for the day we still marveled and wondered around at all the selection this store has to offer. We even found things that Lowe’s and Home Depot were out of stock or didn’t carry (like fly strips come on!).
I highly recommend you try this place for hard to find things. The prices are fairly competitive for most things, however some things are much more pricey than average. You win some, you lose some. It’s all averages in today’s markets. Normal I would say. Still, even the prices that are a bit higher make up for the wonderful wide selection. From grill, paint supplies, garden, plumbing, canning, tupperware, and more … it’s simply indispensable and now to become a regular store we visit.

It is so entirely misleading when you drive by. It’s so much bigger and has so many more things inside than you would ever guess by driving by. I also love that all True Hardware are independently owned. A true diamond in the rough.

Great customer service. I came in for something small and ended up buying much more because it was the end of the day and the man was apologetic for not getting sooner and very helpful finding the little nuts and bolts I came in for. I really like the mom and pop feel of this True Value.

Regarding the below review: I was very surprised when I was contacted by the owner of the store and she was not only very apologetic but, really made amends regarding my experience. I now will be going to TV again. Thank you, I will be sure to go to TV for my next home improvement project.

I have been going to TV for many years with varying degrees of customer service. I always want to support our local economy so I have always let the occasional not so great customer service slide. I went to TV today because I required help with what I needed to purchase in order to apply a knockdown coating to my ceiling. The representative, Johnny, was rude to me and gave me not so hopeful advice. He was impatient and advised me to buy a very expensive spray texture that was really only meant for repairs. When I told him I needed more assistance he was rude and later on ignored me while I was waiting for him (I had my 2 small children with me). I am disappointed to say that I will not be going there again. As I was leaving one of the other TV employees apologized to me for what had happened.

These guys are a GREAT local hardware store. They employ actual humans who know what they’re doing. Got a doo-​hickey that needs replacing? They can correctly identify it and help you figure out how to fix the thing. It’s even better since they expanded – the front entrance is now on the side of the store.

I don’t really shop here much so I can’t comment much on their prices or selection but I really want to vouch for their A+ customer service.
I thought I had lost a key in their parking lot last Thursday and didn’t realize it until I was back down in Petaluma. I called and asked the checkout lady to check the parking lot, which she did but she was unable to find it. She took down my name and number, but at this point I didn’t think it would ever surface.
On saturday I received a call and voicemail from the same lady letting me know they found the key. I went up today and picked it up… these people went the extra mile in terms of service and everyone I encountered was very friendly and helpful.
