Stopped in with some friends on a Wednesday night, first time there. Wednesday is“wings & strings” night. Not only great wings and burgers, but a great string band. 4 guys, banjo, bass, mandolin and guitar, great bluegrass. Will definitely be back.

Nice little spot for some good craft beers and a decent meal if you happen to be in the Coudersport area. I think if you expect zippy big city service you might be in for a let down, but considering the local vibe this should be no surprise. We were in town on a fishing excursion and settled quite nicely into honorary regular status once we discovered their healthy tap lineup, a welcome sight in the land of fizzy yellow beer sold by the case. The menu was what I would call upscale bar food– club sandwiches, burgers, steak, fish etc. All pretty reasonably priced with what appeared and tasted to be good ingredients. Friendly staff that made a few out of place visitors feel welcome which always goes a long way when you’re out on the road.

My girlfriend and I went to the Hotel Crittenden expecting a good meal and a great experience based upon reviews we had read. I am giving them a 2 rating purely because they gave us our meals for free when I complained. We should have realized that this was not going to be a good experience when we entered the restaurant and there was only one table occupied and no hostess or wait staff in sight. After waiting more than 10 minutes, someone did show up and we asked if the bar end of the establishment was any more lively and if food was served there. After looking at the bar we decided to give it a try. The Clam Chowder and the salads were very good but we both ordered New York strip steaks and they were a disaster. First — they were served with the vegetable of the day. Today that was Sauerkraut which is NOT a vegetable of the day but rather an easy thing to serve which in no way should be on the same plate as steak. Second — the fries were limp and obviously not fresh Third — my girl friend’s steak was ordered medium and came extremely rare. She sent it back to be cooked further and by the time it came back I was done eating mine, or rather what I could eat of it because large parts of it were full of sinews and impossible to chew. To their credit, when I complained they did give us our meals free so they at least responded to my complaint. The bar atmosphere was not what I expect either and the music was too loud. The beers were good and the prices of the beers also very good. Overall an extremely disappointing visit — tonight was their burger special night and I suspect that would have been a better option. I will never know.

We stopped in here since both Olga and the Maple Tree were closed. It was pretty empty when we arrived, which was a little unnerving, but the waitress was very nice and got us set up in the front dining room. The interior is looking a little worse for the wear(historic, I suppose). I was a little worried there wouldn’t be anything for my vegetarian sister, but there were several veggie options, and we ended up sharing nachos and a salad. Not my first choice, but it turned out all right!

Really lovely surprise. Great food. Great beer selection! And fun historic building. Try the mussels in a beer/kielbasa/mustard sauce! Nice service. Great prices! And done nights they have live music.

Great food, great staff. Some very well crafted food! The soups esp the bisque is amazing. Choices of wing sauces are varied and creative. Love the garlic parmesean wings. This is our weekly habit

Wings are not bad! The asian flavored ones are tasty and there’s more meat compared to the ones at OIP. There are live country music performances at night.

The Crittenden Hotel restaurant is a bit like unpacking a surprise package. .. in a happy way. The restaurant is inside a small historic hotel, and the restaurant décor reflects that history. It has some nice stylish touches, but it is anything but fancy. In fact, the tables and chairs are a miscellaneous collection — not historic — just old. The tin ceiling is painted red and has old Japanese parasols and other memorabilia suspended from it. You are probably not reading this review to hear about the décor, so here is more relevant information. Our waitress was very nice and helpful, willing to get us information from the chef on the meals. And the chef was willing to be flexible in altering dishes for the diners’ needs. The food was surprisingly good, and it was good for both the carnivores and vegetarians. One diner was a very picky meat lover who said the steak was one of the best he’s ever had. The marinara sauce on tasted freshly made. I like Coudersport, but it is a very small town with not a huge number of choices in restaurants. But of them, I would put the Crittendon at the top of the dinner list. The Crittenden Hotel — Address: 133 North Main Street, Coudersport, PA16916 Phone: 274‑8320 —
