My favorite brother made a comment to me a few years back. He said«hey, aren’t you 36 years old? Gwen Steffani is 36 too.» He’s my favorite brother so he’s still alive. But it did get me thinking, in the realm of 36… Gwen Steffani, Me, Gwen Steffani, Me. I tell you what, it took me a bit of reckoning before I figured that Gwen has realized her genius in being a rock star. I actually haven’t ever practiced being a rock star so I can’t just up and carry it off like she can. So I would guess it would take some natural talent and almost immeasurable amounts of practice for me to get to «Gwen rock star» level. I can only imagine that Gwen also had her first day of trying to sing and dance and I bet it might not have been so hot. Can we apply that to a UYE? Probably so and just to take it a step further, you’d almost have to give someone a bit of credit for not letting a bad event hold him back from trying again. Because that is always the key; trying again and again until you have events that appear effortless. I mean, an outdoor event… well it’s iffy during winter months. And having the winter weather just roll around an evening rain on event day — because there aren’t 2-week out weather reports and the event was planned well in advance. How tough are Californian’s to sit around under an awning and eat tacos on a drizzly evening? I’m thinking we might have been able to tough it out. How many of you would vote that the clincher to this story would be the taco stand closed unexpectedly? And there we were, with our little $ 5 in our damp hands, hungry and standing in the For my 2 cents, Michael was a good sport about all the un-luck. Sometimes the only way to get better is to try again. Brush yourself off and try try, try. Michael,5, after all, isn’t the real prize the journey? I’ll still go to your UYE’s in the future, but I’m busy on the Dino’s night. So we all survived and moved 4 blocks down to an indoor venue. Honestly, I will never be curious about the $ 5 burrito and I won’t ever go back there. PS. No more outdoor venues. That’s what made the«Taco-Cupcake Run 2010» work so well, when you are in doors, it don’t matter if’n it rains or not.

Ok, so I dared to show up in the rain for a hole-in-the-wall burrito to Michaels W’s UYE. Why not, I only live about 10 minutes away… Well, you have to admit that it was kind of funny that the chosen place is closed 8-X… Not a problem, just pick another hole-in-the-wall nearby… Thanks to whoever(Elizabeth ?) in the group who was decisive and decided to go on with the event at another venue… Nice to meet Michael W, Rain F, Angela W, and Elizabeth V … Oh, and thanks to Michael for bringing some cupcakes from another event and letting me try the Berry flavor, it was good…

A for effort. But you’re no longer allowed to plan an UYE without adult supervision(according to Elizabeth…) What better way to spend a Sunday night than to stand in the rain with fellow Unilocalers while wondering why the chosen restaurant is closed?

Four words: I pulled an Elizabeth. Edit: GEEZ, fine. I’ll give it my honest rating. An extra star for the delicious berry cupcake that Michael brought. But I have to admit, Elizabeth rescued Michael’s pineapple bottom so 5 stars and kudos to that!
