I gave this place is shot when they first opened up, looking for a nice place to sit and have a craft beer. Unfortunately, the first thing I found was there craft beer selection was very lacking. Of the two craft beers they had available, both were tremendously expensive for a standard 12 ounce bottle. I was unable to eat on my visit, as there was no one in the grill at the time. I overheard there was some confusion on what days they were going to be open and the cook never arrived. someone was supposedly on their way, but I did not wait to eat the food. Honestly, I was looking for a cozy and nice place to have a few beers on my way home, the décor was lacking any comfortable vibes. The entire place felt very uninviting. This is not to say the staff was not welcoming. I had the pleasure of speaking with norm for sometime, followed by meeting Shannon. Both were very friendly and great to speak with. I’d gladly go sit and have a beer with Norm, or Shannon, anytime. It just would not be at Ryan’s Place Anchor Lounge. Update: I believe this location is now closed. The signage is blank and a white piece of paper which reads«closed for business» is taped to the door.

we have visited RYAN’S in winfield over a dozen times. great place for food, drink, and friends. reminds us of a «cheers» bar. the bar is immaculate and beautiful with the all brick and woodwork. there were 4 of us recently, and we were greeted immediately at the door. we had great/friendly service and the steaks are the best around. we also had the lake perch. it was the BEST! plenty of it, and the homemade fries are delicious! no need to travel to merrillville anymore and worry about driving home after a cocktail or 2. RYAN’S in winfield is definately our ‘new’ place to visit, and so close to home! winfield has needed a friendly, clean, smokefree bar/restaurant for a very long time. we wish them the best success! i encourage anyone reading this site, to visit RYAN’S, as you will not be disappointed.

Went there for Bears game. $ 0.50 wings, & $ 2 drafts. The wings were the smallest wings I have ever seen. I would be embarrassed to serve those to friends at home let alone at a restaurant. Witnessed a waitress tell the bartender(which I assume was the owner) she needed two draft beers. He proceeded to tell her«and I need those tables cleaned.» I really wanted to like this place being it is right outside the gates of LOFS. Unfortunately, we ordered 16 wings for two people, waited over 30 minutes, and still had to go somewhere else to eat. If it is good food with good service you want, do not go here. If you want a drink at a neighborhood place, sure this will do.

After reading about a new restaurant in Winfield we were excited to try it out. I hate to be critical but we will not be returning. Service was poor, food was not properly cooked and was overpriced for what we ordered. $ 90 for 3 people with no drinks and we couldn’t finish the meal because it was awful.
