I recently utilized Adco for a complex multi-city move to Chicago and they did a fantastic job from start to finish. I worked with Brian, who could not have been more communicative, flexible and attentive to our needs as my wife and I relocated from NYC and Philly to Chicago. To some unforeseen circumstances, we needed to reschedule our moves several times, and Brian was able to accommodate those changes seamlessly. The pricing for the moves was fair, and well worth the service level received. All the movers we encountered were courteous and timely, and all of our goods arrived in pristine condition. When I got the estimate it was higher than another one, but I had used them years before and decided to go with a known mover. Everything went extremely well and they even finished 3 hours early. So it turned out to be less than the other estimate. Pleasant surprise.

I booked a cross-country move through United Van Lines and Adco was the local company handling the move on the Chicago side. Jared came out and quickly did an assessment of our belongings and provided a same-day estimate for our move. He was flexible when I needed to add a last minute separate shipment going in the opposite direction(moving furniture for relatives) and quickly took care of that aspect of our move. We had ADCO guys come the day before the moving truck to pack all of our fragile belongings(and take care of the other, smaller shipment) and they were very efficient. It’s worth noting that they packed everything so well that nothing got broken in transit. Though we’ve left Chicago, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend ADCO to friends.

The worst experience! We still keep thinking we are being punked, but so far no cameras or big laughs. The movers used our items without permission. I actually saw one of the guys riding down the street on my husband’s bike. The same guy told us he was underpaid. Another told us about his DUIs. They wanted us to sign documentation noting damage of our items AFTER they loaded the truck and drove it away, making it just a bit difficult to inspect. Our items arrived with damage as heavy items were packed with fragile pieces. We now have broken crystal, plates, glasses, figurines, etc. Furniture was also damaged. Paperwork was missing and so was our queen bed, 10 ft ladder and a couple smaller items. We did receive the bed the next day as it was delivered to the wrong place. We are STILL waiting for them to deliver the ladder. It’s been about 2.5 months since the initial delivery. We were told they were too busy to bring it to us — seriouslyl! As for the other items and damages — no resolution there either. Just a lot of excuses. They’ve even attempted to blame us for their mistakes. Fortunately for us the documentation showed differently. In speaking with our contact at ADCO today, he told me that he felt we were not waiting for anything — even after I reminded him about the repairs, ladder and claim check we are still waiting to receive. When I asked if he felt they deserved the money we paid, he said he does. «We are beyond disappointment. We know things happen, but certainly not this frequently and then for such little effort to be put forth to correct the problems is really just adding insult to injury. I should add that this company is affiliated with United. This may be the best example of the worst attitude toward customers ever. UPDATE11÷2÷11 — We were told by UNITED corporate that they were working on our claim at the beginning of October and we’d soon see resolution. The corp contact seemed sympathetic and shocked by our situation. HOWEVER, it’s now a month later we still have not heard from them. In addition, after my last conversation and immediately after I posted the initial review, the ADCO rep left me a voicemail saying they’d look at providing us with some type of refund for the awful service. He said he’d call the following week. He never called. It appears the issue may not just be a local one, corporate seems not to care to much about their customers either.

They were very efficient and reasonably priced. The movers were on time and my belongings were delivered a day early which worked out for us. They placed everything to our wishes. We couldn’t ask for better movers.
