Average breakfast with prompt service. Biscuits are pre-baked and heated up in the microwave. Maybe all breakfast joints do this but it struck me wrong.

Words cannot express how delicious the food is here. We came in from out of town in search of manatees, and, after finding them, found this gem of a spot, too! They served us fairly quickly, seating us at the counter. Boy, were we hungry. And boy, did Grannie’s deliver! I ordered the double fried pork chop(Huge!), the biscuits(soft and fluffy), baked beans(best of my Life), the potato cake(a novel, yummy take on mashed potatoes), and the bread pudding(sweet, and served hot with real whipped cream). Missy is a friendly, attentive server who gave us some great recommendations. Hazel, who is kind, funny and sweet, gets in at 3 am to make a bunch of the dishes, including the bakes beans and bread pudding. Frankly, the whole wait staff provided a great eating environment. Out of towners: Grannie’s is a great place to stop before or after your manatee adventures!

I don’t do 5 stars very often, there are so many good places to eat in this world, but my criteria for 5 stars goes like this. Clean, Good Fresh made food, Very tasty, Prompt, Friendly service, and price. this place hits on all 5 cylinders. My wife and I stopped for lunch. This is a breakfast/lunch place that closes at 3 in the afternoon. We got there just about 1pm, were seated promptly. We chose a booth, and there is counter service. The waitress was friendly and efficient. When you sit down and look around you know it will be a good place to eat. It has that vibe. The daily specials were hand written and appeared on several white boards around the dining area. I ordered the Shepherds pie, Mustard Greens and fried eggplant. My wife Smothered chicken, Potato salad, cabbage salad, and peas. The peas were the only failing, they were okay but industrial. The order came in a very short time along with a plate of fresh baked dinner rolls and cornbread. Before us We had a feast of southern comfort food that made you forget they lost the war of Northern Aggression. I must digress about the Mustard Greens. As you may know I am a lover of good greens. Collards, Turnip, Mustard, if they are on the menu, I will try them. These were yummy, almost dessert quality. Nearly as good as the Collard Green standard, The Late Kirby and Holloway of Dover Delaware(RIP). Everything was wonderful, and plenty of it. We were stuffed, but could not pass up a peach cobbler topped with huge scoop of Ice Cream. The total bill with 1 iced tea, was just an Andrew Jackson and a few pennies. We shall return.

My friend and I went to go swim with manatees down in Crystal River and stopped by Grannie’s afterwards. Just the name Grannie’s makes it sound like a homey, little diner and that’s exactly what it was. The servers and staff members were very kind. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and seated. They explained the menu thoroughly and the service was quick. The food was all-around delicious. I would highly recommend getting the fried okra, probably the best side dish next to the mac and cheese. The portion sizes are quite large so sharing is caring in this place. Overall, a great experience! tl;dr — If you go down and swim with the manatees, you’ll probably look like one walking out of Grannie’s. Hands down, delicious food!

This place is fantastic! Great comfort foods that are a big step above your average country diner style restaurant. Their country fried steak is some of the best I’ve ever had and their country ham is MASSIVE and absolutely delicious. Definitely worth stopping to check this place out!

Nice sized portions, delicious, fast service and awesome prices! We both got the veggie omelet which came with either home fries or grits and either toast, biscuit, or pancakes. It was delicious, but one was big enough for both of us to share.

Great staff. Good food(we stuck with the basic BLT and grill cheese). Kind of a diner type of menu and atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Would definitely go again if in the area.

Huddle house closed down so we was looking for a new breakfast place. We found one. We had the smoked ham steak and eggs. The ham was huge and very good I don’t see how they can sell it for 8.00 and make money. The service was great and so was the food. I won’t miss huddle house now.

Awesome service, awesome food, and awesome prices. My girlfriend and I were promptly greeted upon arrival. We were seated for less than a minute until someone took our drink order, and they were extremely pleasant about giving us more time to look at the menu when they came back. After we ordered our burgers, our food was ready probably four or five minutes later. Those guys in the kitchen are awesome. And that’s not to mention that the food was phenomenal. Our waitress was very personable. I love it when someone has an actual personality, as opposed to being overly nice with a dry personality. Our server talked to us, made jokes, and was always prompt with getting us what we wanted. There were even a couple of other employees who asked if we needed anything when they noticed our server was busy. Unfortunately we’re just visiting the area, but if we lived here, we’d be coming in every day! We can see why there are so many regulars who come in and are on a first-name basis with the staff. Thanks again for an awesome lunch! Bill

Awesome little spot! Great prices, friendly and fast service, amazing breakfast! I had the French toast and sausage links, my bf had the country fried steak, eggs over easy, hash browns and a pancake. It was all very, very good. We sat at the counter. It was 9:00ish on a Friday morning and all of the booth/table seats were taken. This was our last meal in Crystal River and we definitely left with a good taste in our mouths.

Don’t judge a book by its cover… from the outside this place looked like nothing spectacular… a hole in the wall. On our first morning in Crystal River, we drove past and noticed the lot was full of cars. So we decided to eat there the next morning, when it was just as busy. It’s a small place and it was a little crowded(a line grew out the door after we arrived), but the dining area was clean, the wait for our table was short, the staff were very friendly and very attentive(checking on us in a polite and unobtrusive manner no less than 5 times during our meal), the food was very good and served exactly as requested, and the prices were perfect for the budget conscious(three adult meals and one child meal for less than $ 30.00).

«Well, after you scarfed up my mutton I had the irresistible urge to make pork chops for you.» Seinfeld Southern Diner Heaven is my best description. You get the whole southern experience, from torrential downpour while waiting outside, to $ 5 breakfast specials that burst your belly, to Grannies southern staples. I did the pork chops, soooo good, but soooo bad, right? Carla did the pulled pork, Kai did fried chicken livers, others had liver & onions, plus Catfish. Choosing sides was FUN… 6 different breads(like biscuit, corn bread, hot rolls, bread pudding to name a few. How about 20+ veggies to choose from, potato cake, fried okra, corn, beets, the list is long! Little slow on the bill, but otherwise, great diner!

One of the Best, If not the Best, Place for Breakfast in Crystal River We’ve been coming to Crystal River for probably 18 years now and we introduced to Grannie’s around 16 years ago. It has become a favorite. We were down last weekend for a wedding and had breakfast with Friends on Friday. Grannie’s is one of their favorites as well. Always a busy place and parking can and is a problem but worth the hassle. Between the four of us, we had waffles, french toast, country fried steak with eggs and home fries and oatmeat with fruit. Varied but all were excellent and served within minutes. It’s not fancy but food is good and service is excellent. Would recommend to anyone.

There is something very satisfying about a restaurant that delivers exactly what it should, no frills, no pretension. On a recent trip to Crystal River, my S.O. and I stopped in to Grannie’s for a quick, filling breakfast. We both ordered bacon and eggs, home fries, grits, and bacon. We also received biscuits. Absolutely solid breakfast with great service and low cost. Doesn’t get a whole lot better.
