Had my daily routine of jogging and passed here, decided to have my breakfast at Café Surfas. Nice food selection board, frame decorations are so creative and wall frames are so arty. While dining area was crowded place, evidence that the place is known to people here around town. With spacious chairs in the exterior average place, still can relax here. I’ve got my greek wrap(wrapped fresh leafy salad), mango lemonade roast beef with melted cheese sandwich. My meal was so fulfilling! It was simply amazing and extraordinary! Going back here and thinking that this too would be my routine :)

Another hidden gem in culver city for my hubby and I to find. We took our godkids for lunch and yumm was understatement. Service was a bit slow but so worth the wait. There were 2 orders off the ultimate blt one Mac n cheese and one Ruben. All were tasty! Plenty off outside seating and the house salad was simply the best with plenty of pickles on it. What a flavorful combo! We got little bites fir dessert and cruised thru the market/store. Four words… we will be back!

Note to self: read the darn paper menu before ordering. Don’t read the chalkboard on the wall that states their offerings. I have sort of a long list of food intolerances. Jorge’s Chicken Sandwich on sourdough bread was quite delish. But… There was bacon. I hate picking at my food & taking out the badies. Despite the fact that I love bacon, the poor GI tract of mine doesn’t like it. It hates bacon quite badly. Not wanting to risk a horrid IBS attack, I had to pick out the delish very tempting bacon out of the sandwich. The bread was good. The chicken was flavored well. It had a kick to it. Enough to satisfy my cravings for spicy food for now. The salad sat quite beautifully next to the sandwich. The pickled cucumbers were good. That was the only thing I could eat sadly. The iced tea was heaven. It’s a small café, but there’s seating outside. The only problem that I saw was 1 bathroom for both boys & girls.

I was pretty stoked on this little find while walking around the industrial area of Culver City! Tucked away next to a supermarket Café Surfas offers a small but varied menu of sandwiches, salads and baked goods that will please even the fussiest of eaters! I ordered a Lamb Burger with no bread and really enjoyed my meal! Not super fatty, great taste and filling. Definitely stop by if you’re in the area!

I don’t know what it is but I just adore this place. I’ve been coming here for probably a decade and always stop by when I am in the area. I love their coffee as well as all the food items. For breakfast, the fried egg sandwich is amazing. For lunch, I like to get either the grilled cheese or lobster club. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. They also just introduced their Farmshop line of pastries and sweets(which I have yet to try here but have had at Farmshop). Parking is pretty easy and if you’re already here, make sure to stop at the store for some awesome finds.

I’ve ordered from this place a couple times, and it’s always great. I get the grilled cheese, which is just… perfect. I wish it was a little bigger, but that’s just because it’s so good. It’s right down the street from my office and the parking lot is massive, so that’s nice. The customer service has always been really helpful and sweet and there isn’t usually a long line when I go in. I usually order for my office, so it’s a rather large to-go order and I’ve never had a problems. Everything is always labeled, ready to go, and properly prepared if there are any special instructions, which is a huge relief. Will definitely keep ordering from here!

Have only been once but LOVED the panini that I got. Very fresh and grilled to perfection with a delicious red onion marmalade that I need to either make or buy in a jar. They also have some great cookies and treats which is always necessary. I got a mini french macaroon to round out my meal and was very happy with it. Also thought the side salad and balsamic dressing was the perfect accompaniment to the sandwich. Great flavor and fresh greens. And beautiful little edible flowers. I rpobably wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here, but I am very happy the option is open whenever I am in the neighborhood or doing some shopping at the attached store.

Went for brunch… not that much of a selection, twas mostly sandwich fare. I ordered the fried egg sandwich($ 6.99), came with a side of cut fruit. Took a very long time for the food to come out, however, the sandwich was very tasty(fried egg, tomato, cheese on sourdough bread). For that price though and having to wait that long… didn’t think it was worth it. Also had half a pound of the meditarranean salad, tasted fresh and light… which totaled about $ 4.00. They have their own parking lot, which is very important to me. Adjacent to the café is a giant store for restaurants, even hosts some cooking classes. Inside there are about 5 high tables, plenty of benches to sit outside. If I was just writing on the food itself I would give it a 4.5, but overall, thought it was overpriced and took to long for food to come out.

I wish I can stop in here every time I come shopping at Surfas, but either I have no time or I am just not that hungry. But on those days when I do I gladly fork over almost twenty bucks for a sandwich, that sandwich being their Lobster Panini. If I can be on the food network show the best thing I ever ate this would be it, seriously. Plenty of lobster seasoned just right, smoked bacon, fontina cheese, and great tasting mayo sauce, PURE perfection. It can get pretty busy in here, the workers are very helpful. If you have time you can order food and if you want to go in the culinary store and do some shopping you will be able to hear your name from in there also. And the brownies are pretty good also.

Let’s talk about the Ultimate BLT, it is a wonder to behold. The tomatoes are not simply raw, they are lightly marinated. The bacon may be slender, but it is perfectly crisp and chock full of flavor. I think my favorite thing about the sandwhich might have been the sourdough bread, perfectly toasted, even with a minimal amount of char, which I cherish for the subtle smokiness it brings to the party. Elevating this sando to the the next level is the generous helping of luxurious burrata cheese, it really doesn’t get much better. If I had one request, it would be a light drizzle of balsamic glaze, but that might be too wild for some palates. The patio is fine, but I feel that with a minimum amount of upgrading it could be a nice little lunchtime oasis. I’m thinking a fountain, some comfy chairs, perhaps a buddha sculpture in the corner, it wouldn’t take much.

**UNCONVENTIONALLUNCHMENUINCULVERCITY** 3.5 stars I believe I’ve eaten at every Culver City café by now. PARKING ======== Plenty, their own lot. AMBIANCE ========= Typical café, casual and lots of business types. Indoor seating with a few tables and chairs. Outdoor seating facing the parking lot. FOOD ===== SIGNATUREULTIMATEGRILLEDCHEESESANDWICH — Half $ 5.25 | Full $ 7.45 With White Cheddar, Fontina, Blue Cheese Mayo on Pecan Raisin Bread was definitely different than your traditional grilled cheese sandwich. I thought it was tasty with the cheeses, but not sure if the Pecan Raisin Bread really worked. And the portions were too small. Especially for a full size order. It looked like it should’ve been half-size. RATING: 3.5÷5 TOMATOBASILSOUP(as a side) Came out piping hot. Flavorful and not too sweet or acidic. RATING: 4⁄5 OVERALL ======== A bit pricey for lunch. Like almost $ 20 with a drink and tip. And like I said, small sandwich portions, so you’ll be hungry again by 4PM. I rounded it up to 4 stars, but it truly teeters on 3 stars for overall experience. To be honest, I’d rather grab a few fresh baguettes and fancy cheeses inside their store than eat here again. RECOMMEND the store than the café.

Really cute with great almond milk lattes and teas and sandwiches. You can also buy gourmet grocery items. And they have a cute patio where you can eat outside.

Met new chef, Nikki. There was a small grab and eat set up outside the café for Valentine’s. From cheeses, breads, crackers, and chilled smoked crab claws, everything was delicious! My friend treated me to a birthday lunch, so we ordered lobster paninis from the café. They were very good. Lobster was hot and fresh. The bread was toasted crunchy with a flavorful spread. The side salad had a good vinaigrette dressing as well. If I lived closer, I’d be here regularly. They offer free wifi, indoor and outdoor seating, and are pet friendly.

I got so excited when I saw the lamb burger on the menu, and it wasn’t until I bit into it that I realized that«lamb burger» does not mean«lamb sandwich,» the latter being one of my go-to menu options at places around town. While the lamb sandwich I’ve had at the Tavern is juicy and tender, this lamb burger is over-seasoned and dry. I assumed my wife’s order of a Reuben would easily be better, and it was but only because the bar had been set so low by the burger. The grilled sandwich was mostly bread & cheese, and if you want actual pastrami /corn beef you are much better off order it at your favorite deli. On the plus side, the salad accompanying our lunch dishes was very good, and the lemonade was top notch.

Three things about this place that makes me so happy every time I come by. 1. Market salads are so good. My favorite is the peas and bacon with crème fraîche 2. Ultimate BLT Sandwich is delicious. Diced smoked bacon with burrata. 3. The daily lemonade with a fruit twist. This combination has never let me down.

«OMGYOUHAVETOGETTHEFIGANDTOMATOSANDWICH,» screams the prior patrons in the Review Highlights trend for this page on Unilocal mobile. First of all, let me tell you — this is a vegetarian sandwich, with a TON of cheese. And it’s small, European-like, so if you’re hoping it will fill you up, you’re going to be disappointed. Second of all, it’s not the greatest thing in the world. In fact, I live near-ish, and I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it. In the event that I’m literally starving to death, and have to be at Surfas to purchase chef tools, and this was the only thing on their menu, I’d probably walk across the street to Del Taco. Plus it’s expensive. Third, their banana canale was… gross. Canales are supposed to be light, airy, with a slight crunch on the outside. This was flavored with banana extract(BLEGH) and thick with pungency. I was not impressed. You’re attached to a culinary store, where chefs — like actual chefs — will purchase items from, with fantastic ingredients, to go back and make their own wonderful menu things. When we order out, it’s because we’re so tired we just want something nice — and hope that the ones we order it from have the common decency to make something great as a thank you. Turns out canales are not their thing. I’d say focus on something else you do better, and stop using banana extract, it tastes like antibiotics.

I’m not usually in Culver City. I was in the area for a work meeting and decided to stop here for lunch. The best part of this experience wasn’t even the food; I SAWJODIEFOSTER! So I thought to myself, «if the food is good enough for Jodie Foster to swing by, it must be delish!» Eh. Spanish Herbed Tuna Panini($ 10.95 — Full Order) It honestly tasted like a regular tuna sandwich you can make at home. It comes with a small side salad, which was good. But other than that, I really don’t have much to rave about.

We escaped to Surfas after a very disappointing wait at Café Vida — 20 minutes and no one took our order. So, we high-tailed it to Surfas and so glad we did. We had gorgeous breakfast sandwiches — I got fig and tomato with green salad sprinkled with edible flower petals. My friend got egg and grilled veggies. We spent about $ 10 less than we would’ve at Café Vida and were eating within 15 minutes. We also spent zero on parking. The café has a wonderful selection of avant garde, high end, gourmet items including macarons, petit fours, specialty coffee drinks and a cold case of exotic salads. Yum is right.

Cute little café attached to the main culinary store. I frequent here a lot every time I shop at Surfas. Never really had a full meal here but I’d often get coffee and their«72 layer biscuit». The biscuit is one of my favorites, so fluffy and buttery… goes perfect with their raspberry butter. Get it toasted when you order. The barista is usually good with service. BUT the folks behind the kitchen counter… not sure what’s going on… but the last 3 times they forgot my order. I was waiting like a crazy woman for about 10 mins to get my biscuit toasted. I had to go up there and ask each time. Otherwise it’s pretty convenient to stop by before or after you shop at their main store. The bathroom is usually pretty clean. There are plenty of parking out in their private lot.
