King’s Café is hands down my favorite neighborhood coffee shop. It’s nothing fancy or pretentious, just excellent quality coffee and yummy sandwiches that are made with love. I especially enjoy the Chunky Monkey on summer days, or the Mexican Hot Chocolate when it’s cold outside. Service is always friendly and personalized.

Service is slow if you order food since there’s only one cashier. Didn’t appreciate how he didn’t wash his hands after handling a customer’s cash and he was coughing too. Cleanliness is everything and I didn’t feel that with the flies buzzing around too.

This was truly one of the worst dining(food) experiences I’ve ever had! The staff was SO nice, but the food was so so bad. I got pancakes and eggs with hashbrowns. It was really, really, disgusting. And on top of that, there was a black curly hair cooked into the eggs. When I showed the waitress, she said«ew.» The thing is… the food was so bad, the black curly hair didn’t actually make it that much grosser. So I ate around the hair. :(

Rating: 58⁄100 pts Specializing in coffee, simple breakfasts, pastries, and lunch sandwiches,(more or less in that order), King’s Café, under the same ownership of Mediterranean mainstay King’s Kabob, is a cute hole-in-the-wall café that recently opened up in Culver City. I dropped in to see what was brewing one afternoon, and was fairly surprised. I ordered a Turkey Sandwich lunch($ 7.99), which comes with a decent size sandwich with the vegetables, bread, and cheese of your choice(all of which change daily based on availability), and a bag of chips. I also got a Turkish coffee and a pastry. While seating is limited(there are only about 4 small tables), it feels more comfortable than cramped inside. As I waited for my food, it seemed everyone around me knew manager/barista Omar, as every 5 minutes, someone would come in and call him by name. By the end of the meal, I felt like I knew Omar too! Note, however, that Omar solely handles and prepares everything, so don’t expect your food to come out quickly. The first thing to come out was the Turkish(=unfiltered) coffee, which was the best part of the meal for me, and something I’d go back for. The food is a combination of great homemade stuff to the bland and generic. The sandwich was assembled neatly with care. The turkey, however, was your generic cold cut turkey. The bread and vegetables tasted fresh. The chips were just regular bagged chips that I could have passed on. The sandwich did come with some awesomely thick and juicy pickles, which are prepared in-house. Some of their pastries are baked in-house, while others are delivered. I tried the chocolate chip cookie and chocolate-covered waffle. The cookie was fine. The waffle was a little oily, and I wouldn’t readily recommend it. Next time, I’d opt for the house made baklava. Despite its weaknesses, King’s Café manages to retain a modest, rustic vibe.(Far better than George’s Coffee, which is just down the street.) As I was paying, I noticed a small sign saying that you can get a Sandwich + Homemade Soup combo for $ 7.99, which is a lot more tempting to me than chips, so I will likely be trying this soon.

I mean, what more can you ask for in a coffee shop/café? Wifi?- check Seating?- check Relaxed environment?- check Great service?- check check(double check, not a typo) OMARISTHEBOMB. Quality Java?- check Parking?- check Food?- check. Breakfast all day– can you say WINNING. Lots of healthy options. They also have an affiliated restaurant next door with fresh Mediterranean food! Temperature control– check Overall, its not the most lavish/elaborate café, but its comfortable and affordable. You can stop by in the morning to grab coffee before work, or lounge and read a book while you sip on a hot apple cider. Something for everyone. :)

Hours are inconsistent. One time I went at 10 and it was not open. Most recently went when it was open at 740 am. Cool, small friendly place. Food and drinks are decent. I’ll be back!

Cute little local place. Tasty, homemade food. Nothing gourmet, but nice service and generous portions. Indoor and outdoor seating. I’d go again in a heartbeat. Support your local businesses folks!

The only issue I have? The time they have listed here is misleading— for some reason they weren’t open when I got there. Maybe it’s because I’m always there when the door is open? Anyway, despite that, the service from Omar is always first-class: if you support him, he’ll thank you with a smile every time. His parents own the place right down the block, where you can get, among many great entrees, the best gyros in town. You can’t go wrong with King’s, where you’re greeted with a smile and treated like royalty.

Have been there several times– I live right down the street. I like the coffee and the place is nice. Good parking. The thing that bothers me is the hours. Unilocal says 8am. I drive by occasionally at a few past 9 and it’s still closed. It’s tough to be in coffee shop game and not be open early for people that are grabbing beverages on their way to work. If they were open at 8 I’d go a lot more often but I usually see the«open» sign still off and I drive to Tanners just a mile north.

This place was very, err… indie. My friend ordered a chunky monkey mocha which while I went with a plain and simple macchiato latte. I tried a bit of her drink, which was essentially a banana, coffee, mocha smoothie. I’ve actually never been exposed to that combination & was pleasantly surprised! If I were to come back, I’d definitely be to scope out that drink again. The bathroom situation was what sketched me out a little bit. There were painted over markings of graffiti, watered down hand soap, and napkins as paper towels… Also, when I asked for a spoon, he quickly washed the ones in the sink and handed me one. Which, thanks for the service? I suppose? This place is definitely a small business, which isn’t a bad thing, but I hope to see their basic amenities fixed up in the bathroom next time! I wouldn’t drive out of my way to come back but if I were ever in the area, I’d be open to stopping by again

This was a cute little spot however there were a few disturbances that will prevent me from returning. First and foremost, there was no air conditioning. They had the front and backdoor open with 2 measly ceiling fans pushing around the 80+ degree air. It may have felt better if they just closed both doors but who knows. Then the internet cut out in the entire building. No bueno. Though this place offers a small parking lot(about 5 spaces in the back) street parking is pretty easy. The place is small(about 4 small tables inside and 2 out) and quiet which I liked. They had outlets and their menu and prices were decent. The staff was friendly enough. If the place incorporated ac I’d think about returning but as it is I’d rather wait for a cooler day.

I recently went to King’s Café for the first time. The plus side to this place is that the servers were polite and I really loved the Turkish coffee, which was moderately strong and very smooth. While I will definitely return for the Turkish coffee, this will not be a place I’ll come to, to sit and write, or do any kind of work. It simply doesn’t have that kind of vibe. The shop is very narrow, and while I was sitting there I found a depressed mood coming over me. I think this place has a lot of potential. However, they might consider some light remodeling. Repaint the place, add some comfortable chairs, replace the couch, because it is old, and smells funny, and try to get some better lighting. It would be nice to maybe lose the flat screen TV and play some cool music instead. In other words, liven the place up a bit, and give it a more welcoming café feel. I also raised an eyebrow at the hygienic practices of this place. It doesn’t have a very clean feel to it, and when the guy made my sandwich, I wasn’t sure if he washed his hands before hand, or how clean the cooking utensils were that he used. I felt a little cringed. I think it’s also important to note, that if you pay by credit, pay attention, because there is a line between the tip and the total amount, so if you’re not careful, you write your total as THETIP. I tipped in cash to avoid any confusion. Again, a great take out stop for the Turkish coffee. This place is not good for groups. It’s best for three people max… better if you’ re alone. Wouldn’t recommend for children either.

Rundown — Nice service and cute area — Easily missed — make you are on the lookout — Wasn’t a fan of the drinks I should start off that I love coffee but I am no expert. I like what I like and know what doesn’t agree with me. Now that we have that out of the way, I feel bad that I have to say that I didn’t love the latte here. I was excited to try this place but the café latte wasn’t strong enough for me. The first 10 minutes, I enjoyed the flavor, however once the coffee settled, it was a bit watered down for me. Sadly, I felt that the coffee didn’t have enough flavor in it. :( I really wanted to like this place but must say that it wasn’t for me. However, extra star for the nice barista. :)

Small place, very good latte. The guy behind the counter looks pretty serious, but after seeing him deal with some of the locals it’s apparent that he is the ‘gentle bear’ kind of guy that many people come there to see. They have Turkish Coffee which I got on my way out. I love Turkish Coffee which is why I got a second cup of coffee in an hour, but this was pretty watery. Not sure if I needed to ask for it to not be ‘Americanized’ or something, but I’ll give them another go at that next time. Nice laid back, small space with a table or two outside. Not even remotely fancy, just a basic coffee shop to veg at for a mental break.

this café is right next to the king’s kabob(same owner), across from menchie’s and pier 1 imports on sepulveda blvd. it’s a long narrow café, with only a few seatings in a row on the right side, and the pastry case, the espresso bar, and the kitchen on the left. oh there’s a flat screen tv at the end of the room above the seating area, and along the walls are a couple of bizarre paintings. overall, the feeling was a cozy neighborly café. the beverage of choice was the turkish coffee. what that is compared to a regular cup of joe, has nothing to do with where the coffee bean comes from, but rather the grind of the coffee bean. it’s the finest of the finest on the grinder dial. you pour the hot water in with the ground coffee, and so the grinds settle at the bottom, ending up with something like the consistency of mud at the bottom, and that is not be drunken. but the liquid part above the grinds is the actual coffee part, and it’s in between an espresso and a french press(press pot). because there were no filters used, you can really taste the full complexity of flavor from the beans. the barista there added sugar to my 2 oz turkish coffee, so that was a very nice touch. i sip-sip-sipped with my pinky in the air as i held the tiny cup, and it was delicious. they accept cards with a minimum purchase of $ 5
