I’ve had very little success with any of their main dishes(they are either over cooked, under cooked, greasy or bland). The sandwiches are made with stale bread and the ingredients are not fresh. Their prices are high compared to other eateries in the area. Overall I would rather leave the lot for my lunch experience.

My go-to is the SALADBAR: $ 3.50/lb for SPE employees; $ 8 for guests There is a good selection of ingredients that changes from day to day. Leafs: Romaine, Iceberg, Mixed, Spinach Sides include but are not limited to: Corn, Peas, Tofu, Egg, Cherry Tomatoes, Shredded Carrots, Cheddar Cheese, Parmesan Cheese, Olives, Mandarin oranges, Garbanzo beans, Kidney beans, Celery, Mushrooms, Onions, Red and Green Bell peppers, Cucumbers, dried fruits, sunflower seeds, walnuts, croutons, and loads more. Meat: Ham, Turkey, Chicken, Tuna, Imitation krabmeat Others: various Pasta Dressing on the side wall: Red Wine Vinegar, Balsamic Vinegar, Olive Oil, Thousand Island, Ranch, Blue cheese, Raspberry Vinaigrette, Italian, and like 8 more. SOUPS: Sometimes it’s bland or watered down. Sometimes it’s as decent as any regular buffet. CHICKEN&PIZZA: Pretty good, I’d get it more often if it was priced better. PHONOODLEBAR: Do not get it. It’s so poorly concocted that you will not be satisfied the least bit. HEALTHYOPTION: $ 5 meal for employees can be found at the corner in between the BURGERS and the SANDWICH sections. It is decent and can taste great depending on the day.

Gives you a decent discount as an employee and I found the food generally of much higher quality than DreamWorks Animation. So much so that I don’t have a problem paying for it.

It’s pretty convenient, and has all the basics + some for a cafeteria. And they subsidize the price for employees, so it’s slightly helpful. Wolfgang’s got his name all over all the menu items, but I’m a very DIY your own salad type of luncher. I have had the specials, and they’re pretty good. Nothing spectacular, but convenient and decent. The seating arrangement is great too. You can picnic on the grass, or enjoy the table seatings set up… or take it back to your desk. They have your usual ‘grocery store’ offerings as well; candy, bottled drinks, and yogurt. They also have a frozen yogurt/ice cream sundae station that was a nice treat. But since Coffee Bean is right next to it, a latte always sounded more appealing. Also, they opened a Yogurtland on campus, so that pretty much became non-existent to me then. overall, the salad bar and sandwich bar are pretty good. Basic and customizable… and convenient.

Commissary Cafeteria: Excellent for a cafeteria. One of the best work-lunch spots I’ve been to. It’s amazing how the menu is different every single day. Always variety, always a solid salad bar, and a great grill/sandwich station. Commissary Waiter-Service Dining Room: My review loses a star because the Dining Room, the fancy, sit-down power-lunch spot on the Lot, just isn’t that good. Frankly, the food is more impressive in the cafeteria. Considering the Sony execs occupy each table at lunchtime, you would expect the food to be top-notch. It isn’t bad, just alright. Order the crudite to start!

I never thought I would review a studio lot commissary, but the food is excellent here. If you ever have a chance, definitely check it out. My client at Sony always treats me to lunch when I come for a visit. I recommend any kind of soup here. I’ve had the clam chowder, the tomato, the butternut squash and the split pea and it’s all delicioso. The crab cakes, great. The grilled salmon, perfect. The burger, indulgent. Cobb salad, fresh. There are nice touches too… they bring fresh cut veggies and dip to the table as well as freshly baked bread. The ice tea is great. The service is always extra special and accomodating. And No, I have never seen a «star» here.

A-OK and a fantastic deal if you have a Sony badge(yay). Only $ 5 for a 3-course lunch. I prefer the breakfast myself where you can order things exactly as you want them. My co-workers have made faces when I said ‘hey, I like the commissary” but I’m just passing through here for a few weeks. It seems that those who have this as their only ‘on campus’ choice for lunch are not impressed. Maybe after so many years, they’ve gotten bored. But hey, it sure beats walking 20 minutes and waiting another 20 minutes for lunch AND the folks who work here are exceedingly friendly. In my book, a perfect place for a quick lunch, hitting the spot.

Went to Sony Picture Studios to visit a friend and had a lunch at the commissary. Commissary is in a very modern looking building with welcoming interior. I have to say I love the wooden cube hardwood flooring they have. Salad bar was nicely displayed for people to access but I pass the salad bar and move on to the Chinese food area. I got some mix of chow mein, fried rice and broccoli beef. Cashier seems friendly and there was a supervisor or manager was on site to over see the commissary. I must say I wasn’t expecting a food this tasty from a commissary. Broccoli beef was so good with little bit of hot sauce and my friend’s slider had tender patty with fresh vegies which was the best slider I had so far. My friend then told me that commissary was managed by Wolfgang Puck company. Ah ha ! Keep up the good work Chef !! Over all I was very pleased by food, employees and atmosphere. I should try dining area on my next visit. Seems they have great menu there as well.

Went to lunch at the sony Studios Commissary this week, as I had a meeting with a colleague. This restaurant is on the Sony Studios lot, and you will either need to be an employee or get a visitor’s badge to eat here. It’s a fun and fancy cafeteria, offering foods like pizza, salad bars, sandwiches, soups, and just about anything that you can think of for an upscale café. The place is run by Wolfgang Puck’s conglomerate of restaurants. The food is very well prepared and the variety is always good. They have an amazing salad bar, so I decided to indulge in making myself a delish salad — mized organic greens, radish, mushrooms, roasted yellow beets, sunflower seeds, bell peppers, carrots, etc. There were about 30 – 40 items at the salad bar that you can choose from. They also offered 12+ different types of salad dressing. The best part about my meal was the price! I got a pretty huge portion of salad, and the total cost was $ 3.28! It was the best deal in town, and it was pretty delish! Funny to talk to several of my friends who work at Sony — most of them say that they are sick of eating at this place(because it is so conveniently located in the middle of the studio lot). I’d eat here everyday if I had the chance!

Nice modern atmosphere but overpriced… Grill items set you back around 9 – 10 bucks… Pizza slices are about $ 4 with tax and its no bigger than a standard dominoes original pan slice that you can get 8 of for 6 bones. Salad bar is decent but they only have yellow cheddar cheese, don’t have avocado, and usually the meat of the day is recycled from the previous day’s entrees so it is not always the freshest and you probably ate it yesterday in your Jambalaya. This place could just could be a lot better for its monopolistic location and they should start by bringing new ingredients to the salad bar since that is the main affordable and filling option if you are a regular here.

I met up with a buddy who works at Sony for lunch and we met at the new commissary on the Sony Studio lot. It was a brand new building that they had just built replacing the old commissary so everything was nice and clean. They have indoor seating as well as out door seating. Apparently, the menu for the cuisine selection is made by Wolfgang Puck so the plates being offered were very interesting. They have specials depending on the day so the special we ordered was the Tilapia which came with three sides. I selected a reddish hued grain and lentil mixture, a cold cucumber and tomato salad as well as a chopped eggplant salad as well. The price of the combination plate was $ 8 for non-employees and $ 5 for employees. We decided to sit out on the patio which was a nice ambiance in which to dine and people watch at the same time. The Tilapia was a little lacking in flavor I thought even though there was a special sauce that was placed on top at my discretion. Everything was actually slightly bland. I’m not that much of a fan of Wolfgang Puck creations eating at his other restaurants in L.A. so it wasn’t surprising to me that I found my meal pretty average in taste. They do have other selections like salads, sandwiches, pizzas and pastas to select from which I would probably try the next time if I have an opportunity to eat on the lot. The dessert selections looked really appetizing however, as I spied various cakes, cookies and most especially, a Red Velvet cupcake that was calling out to me but I refrained… this time, that is. Can’t say I’d be as disciplined next time :)

Ok, I realize the 4 stars is for a commissary. BUT!!! …Best damn California Club sandwich in the land! AAAAND!!! …Best staff! They will make any variation on any menu item you request. Only draw-back: the matzo ball soup is too delicious, which makes it a scarcity every day between 12p-2p.

The staff is good but the food is ok if that, the selection is small and the price is high for what you get. You can not get every item on the menu unless it is a special for that day. If you are looking for a deal and you do not have time to leave the lot and get more for your buck try the salad bar.
