Wow went here today and I can’t say enough great things about this place. Great place to go if you are new to shooting and guns. I’m sort of a vet but I haven’t shot in a while. I saw two new people getting lessons and they guy was very patient with them it was refreshing. One guy rapid fired 5 rounds and they instantly sent over and said limit is 2. They allowed rifles and semi auto. I was with someone and we brought revolvers which I havent shot since I was a kid. So we bought rounds for those three guns. Then I was able to rent a glock 19, I wanted the glock 17 but I actually handled the 19 better… Crazy Plus the guy behind the counter helped with my grip and an updated style on how to hold the gun. Lots of tial and error today, but very educational and fun! Highly recommend this place

Heard about this spot from my peeps in Culver City and decided to give it a try. As a Jamaican living in LA I am always on the look out for good Jamaican food. So far, best beef patties are at Derricks and all around food is at Frontpage — both in Inglewood. Now, the Jerk Spot. If you are going to name your establishment like this you better bring it everyday. When I visited for the first time for afternoon lunch — it was nothing special. Here is what I found: — Décor needs some work. You have been open a year now; so, decide on your identity — Love they keep the kitchen clean but you can’t be cleaning the stove and such while cooking during the day! — Beef patty was not bad; could rival Derricks — Ordered some Jerk chicken, festivals and plantains: 1. The Jerk Chicken was extremely dry and based on what I witnessed with the preparation I can see why [open kitchen]. Still on the hunt for good Jerk Chicken man! 2. The Festival and Plantains were delicious but seriously you cant mess up Festival and Plantains 3. The portion size WASNOT worth the price of the meal! If you have been to any Jamaican spot or TO Jamaican you know we know how to plate food. This was bad people! I wish I took a picture! No value here; especially, for the A-Ok food quality and experience Attend at your own risk if you don’t believe me :) I wish them success though !

Traffic was terrible and my toddler was getting hungry so I randomly pulled in here. Little bit of a cafeteria feel with plastic silverware and such but hot damn the food was good. The Jamaican patties(especially the beef) are awesome. My toddler wolfed down half my chicken and most of a patty. Definitely wanting to come back or get some to go later.

No flavor. No love, Horrible décor/vibe. I so wanted this to be legit. But its not, they don’t even have a wood burning fire, you can NOT do jerk without pimento wood and an open flame sorry. I have been to Jamaica 15 times, and I’m currently working their for 3 weeks, this truly is not a good representation of real Jamaican flavors. Also when i asked for scotch bonnet sauce i was told they didn’t have any. How is that humanely possible in a Jamaican restaurant not to have scotch bonnet. Super whack.

When you think Caribbean, you think Bob Marley, you think exciting, lively, sexy, spicy, right? You want to dance! Well… The Jerk Spot does feature a very large poster of Bob Marley, the man who uttered one of my favorite quotes about a woman, but that’s where Caribbean excitement ends. Everything is kind of blah. I don’t care that it’s a modest, sparsely furnished restaurant with about 4 tables, in a strip mall. If the food is amazing, I’ll drive for an hour for great jerk chicken and some Caribbean excitement, albeit a culinary one. No Caribbean excitement here, despite so many reviews to the contrary, The service is very nice and friendly. The price is OK for lunch — about $ 20.00 for two jerk chicken plates. The chicken itself is actually very tasty BUT the rice is bland and non-distinct, the vegetables are bland, totally overcooked and under-seasoned, and the two small pieces of plantain are just fine. The very little jerk sauce that comes with it, on the side, is also just OK. It has no depth, no complexity, no punch and, alas, no excitement. What can I say? I don’t want to dance…

AMAZING. Finally, I am able to get jerk chicken that’s authentic. Price is great and the quality is excellent. –Free parking in the lot. –Credit/debit charge minimum is $ 5. –Stay tuned for the jerk pork as recommended by the owner.

Got cold food and told that’s the way it comes. Service was extremely slow. This place has gone down hill. It’s not consistent. I loved it when I first came but now I’d rather just find another place. Was of money for inconsistent bad service. Find another jerk place this one is losing.

Very slow and terrible customer service. The food was bland, dry and cold. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

This place isn’t consistent and it drives me crazy! Sometimes the goat curry is perfection. The meat falls of the bone and melts in your mouth and the seasoning is spot on. Other times it’s chewy, fatty, blah! After receiving chewy, fatty, lesser portioned goat curry twice now I’ve stopped coming here. I might give it another chance but at $ 15, I just don’t want to take the chance.

The Jerk Spot is no frills, but the food is damn good. Atmosphere: I wouldn’t call say ambiance is this place’s strong suit. It’s located in a gritty strip mall next to the 10, and has a pretty standard sign outside. The interior is pretty basic, with a few tables, office-type lighting, a TV, and a counter. The people who work here are real Jamaicans, and I heard a lot of Jamaican accents amongst the restaurant-goers here too. You eat off styrofoam or paper plates, with plastic utensils. So this may not be the spot for a romantic date, more of a fueling station. Food: The food is where The Jerk Spot earns its stars. It’s a little greasy and heavy, but man is it delicious. We had the reggae bread(tasted like an unsweetened donut), the jerk chicken(a Jamaican classic), and some Jamaican empanadas(one chicken and one beef). Everything tasted great. Prices were fairly low, but I would say it’s more in the $$ range than the $ range if you want a solid meal.

I’ve eaten here twice and both times I’ve loved it. I’ve ordered the Jamaican patties which are very similar to empanadas. They’re meat filled hand pies that are baked in the oven. The filling is flavorful and slightly spicy. I ate two and thought it was very filling(but I’m more of a constant grazer than one big meal). The other dish I’ve had was the jerk chicken entrée. This is definitely more filling and what my new go to is. The jerk chicken is moist and has a perfectly crispy skin. It’s like the jerk version of peking duck! I highly recommend coming in and trying them out. One thing to note — I think it’s mostly a take out joint but there are a few tables inside. It’s not a fancy restaurant so if you keep that in mind, come in and enjoy the authentic caribbean food!

Bland and Caribbean food should never go together. Thats the case here unfortunately. We had Jerk Chicken and Curry Chicken platters. Both dishes had very bland flavor. The rice and peas were as well. The veggies tasted like they were cooked with older vegetable oil. LA might have the least reliable usage of Unilocal anywhere. Smh.

I tried The Jerk Spot for lunch a couple of days ago when I was working in Culver City. The Jerk Spot is located in a small strip mall on Venice Blvd just ahead of downtown Culver City so it has a decent sized parking lot which is not that crowded during lunch hours when compared to other places in Culver City. It seems to be to-go place primarily but has about 5 – 6 tables inside. At the peak lunch hour there were about 5 people in line before me. My standard order in Jamaican restaurants is Jerk chicken, but this time I decided to change it up and try something that I’ve not had before so I went with the Brown Stew chicken($ 7.99). The person behind the register taking the order was very nice and patient with all customers. I could pay by card so no issues there. After ordering it was about a 10 minute wait to get the food. The brown stew chicken plate came with a generous scoop of rice with beans, two plantains and a small salad. The rice was not the best quality but was nicely cooked. The salad was very average. The chicken stew was bland. I tried to identify the spices in the stew but they were just too mild for my palate. It also lacked seasoning which made it almost tasteless. The chicken however was cooked well and was juicy. Price-wise it was really cheap for Culver City but the taste left a lot to be desired. I think I should have stuck to getting the jerk chicken which would have let me make a more objective comparison of The Jerk Spot with other Jamaican restaurants as I’ve had it many times, so I am inclined to return and at-least give that a try when I get the chance.

I’ve had this place bookmarked for awhile now, and we came here spontaneously on a Saturday around 5pm while looking for a quick spot to pick up a meal. There was maybe only one other person in the restaurant when we arrived, but since it’s pretty casual and there’s not much ambiance, it seems fair to assume that they do a lot of take out business. People trickled in and out while we waited. We ordered the blackened snapper and jerk chicken plates; both come with vegetables, two fried plantains, and red beans and rice. We also got a chicken patty and beef patty(they were out of the vegetable ones sadly). Blackened snapper– it was good but not awesome; a generous piece fish(although the price was $ 10.99 so I would expect a decent amount) but a bit overcooked and under-seasoned. The steamed vegetables consisted of cabbage, carrots, and broccoli and weren’t overcooked but were bland. The red beans and rice had, literally, maybe five red beans and otherwise was all rice. It was dry. Jerk chicken plate– ditto on all the sides. I didn’t try the chicken but my husband said it was just okay. I did try the extra sauce they gave him and enjoyed the spiciness of it. Patties– my husband really liked the chicken one, which was filled with their curry chicken. Warning– I did discover a couple of hairs in both of our plates, which was kind of gross but it’s honestly not something I freak out over. Also, the order took about 15 – 20 minutes to fill. After some time the man who took our order(there were only two men working, both cooked but one also took orders) told us that the fish had been«lost.» I have no idea what that means but can only assume they had to start fresh. The price for everything was about $ 25. If I wanted to spend that much, I’d probably just go to a nicer, sit down restaurant, maybe spend a few bucks more, and get better food.

This place is just down the road from my house and I will defo be stopping in here again. The décor is very plain, however the food is not. Ordered the jerk chicken plate and the curry chicken plate. The curry chicken plate was good, had nice flavors and worked well with the rice and veg. The winning dish was hands down the jerk chicken. Full of tasty flavor and with a little but of a kick, I could happily eat this for days. Also grabbed a meat patty, which had lovely flaky pastry and moist juicy meat inside. Great for a quick bite. The guys behind the counter were super nice and the meal was affordable. Will stop in again!

I hate going against the grain, but this place was just mediocre at best. Came during lunch with a friend. The restaurant was pretty empty, but service took a long time. I ordered the Jerk Chicken Salad: simple greens, very small serving of chicken, chicken was spicy but nothing else. My friend ordered the jerk chicken plate and thought it was really dried out. Not really sure what the hype is about this place.

This place is amazing. I couldn’t help myself and said«screw the diet». I ordered jerk chicken with curry chicken, and a chicken meat pie. Everything I ate(and I ate everything) was so good and tasted just as good, and in some cases better, as what I’ve had when visiting the Caribbean. The restaurant is in a strip mall with good parking. The restaurant itself is clean. No frills but the food speaks for itself. The best Caribbean food I’ve had in California.

Hmm. Rare that a place raved about on Unilocal is a letdown. I don’t know, it didn’t really do it for me. Hole-in-the-wall aesthetics, okay, that’s fine if the food is amazing(Spicy BBQ in Hollywood is a «hole» and I can’t get enough)… and we ordered and probably waited about 25 minutes until we got our food, okay, that’s fine if the food is amazing(Animal, in Mid-City, is often slow but WORTHIT). Finally, our food came out and it was just okay. Didn’t dislike it but it sure didn’t stand out. Bossa Nova, which is a chain and corporate and good-not-great, would have been 5 minutes away from home, faster, and better. Sorry y’all, unless I caught it on an «off» night, this place was super-average, inconvenient, and slow. I don’t get it…

The SAUCE that they serve it with is what makes the food great. I wish I could just dump it on everything. Ordered the jerk chicken plate with veggies and rice+beans, the jerk chicken and reggae bread and the beef pie. Chicken was flavorful, moist and tender. Veggies were fresh, the reggae bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Beef pie was full of meaty goodness and had a wonderfully crunchy shell. I really enjoyed all my food, especially when paired with the sauce! My only two things is: I wish they served at least one more plantain with the meal, and I wish the cashier was more helpful with order suggestions. It was my first time eating Jamaican food, and I had NO clue what to order! Overall, a great place for a no-frills dinner or quick lunch. You will be happy!
