I’ve been here a few times and for the most part, I like it. I’ve worked at several sushi restaurants and I can confidently say their rolls are excellent and made by experienced hands. The manager was very nice and helped us immediately. However, the server was sub-par at best. I could tell she absolutely hated being there. I mean we’ve all had those days but it is generally accepted that you should still do the work you are paid hourly to do. I think there is great potential in this place but service can improved.

How hard is it to write down your orders and NOTMESSEVERYTHINGUP!!! We ordered for rolls and all of our orders were wrong. Tired from the day and only want to have a decent dinner and everything messed up. If you want to have a decent place to eat, look for other place around Culver. Not worth the try here. And worst The waitress doesn’t seem to care messing up the orders.

Best sushi in the area at decent prices. I rarely get anything else on the menu except for the rolls, but everything I’ve had has been great. I strongly recommend the Y2K roll, crunch scallop roll, and the jalapeño poppers with the(shrimp? Spicy tuna? I forget…). They’ve even got a good selection of sake and Japanese beers. Also, if you get there between 3 and 5 during the week, anything on the menu is 20% off. Even more of a reason to come! :D

My daughter and I came today for lunch, we asked for our check, I signed it, placed it on the table. I took out my wallet so I can tip her in cash, with the intentions of leaving her tip on the table as we left. she came back to take the check plate, noticing no tip was penciled in on the invoice and no cash was there so she turned around and yelled at me and said: «Where’s my TIP please?!» And I said, what did you say? and she goes, «MYTIP please» in a louder voice. I responded, «I am about to give it to you and I’m giving you cash,» I told her she shouldn’t ask the customers to give you your tip, you should wait and let them leave on the table or whatever they decide. And she said«BUT I said PLEASE!!!» aggressively. I ended up leaving the tip on the table and letting her know I had done so. My advice, make sure to tip first and send it back with your signed receipt just to make sure she sees that you’ve left a tip. Otherwise, she will ask for it because obviously she’s unaware the gratuity is sometimes left on the table as customer is leaving. Also I’m going to assume she doesn’t know it’s optional. There’s so many sushi places in the area. Food was good but service was terrible! I won’t be returning!

Popped in for an early pre-happy hour meal to start our Thursday evening. Side note: they do offer a happy hour, but it ends at 5p. Not sure who can make it there that early, considering the entire place was pretty quiet. A couple girls friends and I popped in for a couple rolls of sushi and some wine. We opted to take in the warm sunny day by sitting on their patio. After a few minutes, our wine came out. We had a wobbley table and sure enough, right after my first sip, my friend nudged the table and the wine glass toppled off the table and right on to the floor. We asked the waitress for some napkins and apologized for the spill. I just assumed they’d bring a 2nd glass after the accident. But they didnt. I ended up being charged for 2 glasses of wine… only to drink 1. I was told, they cannot comp the wine that spilled because it wasn’t their fault. Sure, we can play that card… but cheap shot really… The service was terrible. Our waitress was MIA for long periods of time and it seemed like I had to flag her down, even though no one was at the restaurant. Definitely a bitter experience and certainly not worth coming back for. Save your time and money folks!

I go here a lot. Yeah, I know, I’ve given it only 2 stars. Well, it’s close which is the reason why I go here a lot. The food is generally«good enough». But, sometimes it’s not good. In fact, I just had the chicken teriyaki bowl and the chicken was horrible. Tasted dry and like cardboard. Probably frozen. Just inedible really. The beef has been terrible too. The salmon is often dry. The tempura is meh. The only thing that I eat is the sushi or rolls. They’re good enough. They fill me up and the miso soup is decent. They aren’t often crowded so there is never a wait. This is a big selling point! I hate waiting. So, it’s a good option if you’re not too picky. The service is just ok too. They aren’t super friendly or even great at their jobs. Sometimes they don’t speak a whole lot of English and that can be a little challenging when ordering.

AVERAGEFOODANDTERRIBLESERVICE «Yo goo outside wai» *points to door*(translation: Go outside and wait)” as if I was a dog or something. The manager lady had the audacity to tell me to wait outside after i ordered and paid for my food. At that time it was a cold windy late at night and I was ill so I ordered food to go. HOWRUDE is that? Who tells their customers that?! The place was packed. But the entire sushi bar area(about 7 – 10 seats) and one table was empty(4 seats) were EMPTY. Nobody else was in line and no waitlist. I was waiting next to the sushi bar standing for at least less than 10 minutes waiting for my food to go and she comes up and says that to me. I looked at her as if she was nuts. I stayed place and took a seat at the sushi bar. The other lady helping cashier and waiting tables saw that and looked kind of shocked and kind of gave me the«it’s okay just stay inside» gesture. Manager lady came back around and saw I didn’t go outside and she kind of whispered under her breath gesturing me again to wait outside. I said«it’s cold outside, I’m waiting here and there a lot of empty seats». She didn’t respond. If she owns the place she needs to learn how to be polite. If she doesn’t own the place, someone better check her attitude. I’ve pulled my business… I can’t be mistreated in such ways when I’m just trying to buy my meal. FOOD. Average teriyaki Below average hand rolls(that’s not real sushi) Good sweet potato tempura Honestly, I come here occasionally for the teriyaki for those days I’m lazy to travel far. I’ll settle for not the best food for convenience. Only because it’s average and decent prices. Until the next review…

I tried Yokohama Sushi for lunch a couple of days ago while working in Culver City. Yokohama Sushi is located in a little alley in the large plaza that hosts LA Fitness and a bunch of other restaurants on Washington and Overland. It is hidden inside a small alley which has Pampas Grill out front. During lunch time parking in this plaza can be tight but manageable. I decided to sit outside on the patio as it was a cool day. I was not attended for over 5 minutes after sitting so I had to flag down a server while she was attending to someone else. Well at-least she was apologetic about the lapse. I decided to get a bento box with teriyaki salmon and fried tempura($ 10.78) which also came with the standard california roll, scoop of rice, salad and miso soup. After ordering I quickly got the miso soup. One sip and it was clear that it was very average. Not bad just plain average. The soup was quickly followed by the bento. The same theme continued. Everything was very average. The salmon didn’t seem extremely fresh but was cooked right. The tempura had too much batter, the california roll was passable and the salad was completely avoidable. All-in-all a very average meal where nothing was bad but nothing shone through either. I’d rate this as a 2.5 stars that I’m rounding up to 3. I doubt that I will return as there are better options available in the Culver City area.

Ordered a hot night roll that costs 11 dollars to go. The roll on the inside only had shrimp tempura. Where’s the avocado, cucumber, and crab meat? Customers beware, this restaurant is trying to cheat u.

I feel dirty… And guilty… For cheating on my FAVORITE sushi place in Hollywood, but when you have friends that live in Playa Del Rey… You have to try and meet ½ way if you ever want to grab a meal together. So when my friend asked to get dinner, I UnilocalED«sushi» in Culver City and this is what I found… With the lack of stars, I knew I was taking a little bit of a risk but I saw they had my favorites on the menu(salmon skin and yellow tail collar) so I decided she and I should give it a go anyways… While the service was lovely(our waitress was cute) and the yellowtail collar was tasty(it’s hard to do wrong), everything else was a bit underwhelming… And for the $ 99 price tag, with NOALCOHOLICDRINKS(just one green tea), I was slightly annoyed… I don’t like spending THATMUCH on food that isn’t 80% life changing… Sure the salmon skin was crunchy, but it kind of lacked flavor otherwise which is crazy because salmon is one of the most FLAVORFUL fish on the planet… And the Unagi that I ordered as «dessert» tasted like it came RIGHTOUTOF the package… And it was only SLIGHTLYWARMEDUP in a microwave… I like my eel to be a little crisper. Also, the premarinade sauce tasted a little sour. Oh and how were the short ribs? The«low carb» option my friend ordered(ha ha ha): tasty but very fatty apparently. Not first date food as you are constantly taking hunks of fat out of your mouth… Good thing she’s one of my best friends so I didn’t care AT! I knew trying this place was a bit of a gamble, but I’m willing to risk a lot for sushi… That being said, I think I’d rather try out the Brazilian place next door, the next time I have to meet my friend ½ way!

The worst part of the experience is when our waitress/manager outed me in front of the entire restaurant for not tipping! Why tip?! The food was just average and the service was lackluster. … I was so relieved when I later read another customer who had the same thing happen to him. I thought I was a bad customer. If your customers are not tipping it may be because you are not doing your job well. Ever thought of that?!

Yokohama had been the go to Japanese spot for my friends and I for quite some time. I decided to chose this place for a small birthday dinner. I’ve always liked their sushi and their yakiudon, although its not amazing it’s still good. I was unaware that these people are huge about gratuity! Me and my friends(group of 4) were being helped by a sweet waitress but I noticed once the rest of the group came(to make up a group of 6) she went m.i.a. When we all got our check we each added up our total with tips but I believe one or two people in my group didn’t have enough to tip, which didn’t seem like such a huge deal considering the rest of us tipped. As we’re walking out one of the waitresses(not even helping my table) came outside with our checks in hand to scold us about two people not tipping. Really?! You need to come out here after a chill dinner to «politely» ask us why two out of 6 people didn’t tip? Not only was that unnecessary but it was very embarrassing for my friends. As she was trying to be polite and basically asking for money one of my friends asked if it was something necessary, we had no issue paying it but we had two people who were on budget and she just ran back inside… wow way to spoil a nice dinner. Definitely looking for a new go-to spot now. No wonder most of the people seen here only come for pick up orders. Very disappointing!

ABSOLUTELY never order the beef short ribs — beef jerky is what you’ll get! This is so unfortunate because they used to be the best in town. You cannot chew them. They’ve gone cheap on quality from their suppliers. I cannot imagine this joint staying open for too much longer. The service is the still the same — horrible! This will be my last visit to this establishment.

Slow service. Fish is far from fresh. The food was fast-food sushi. The teriyaki was also far from fresh, could barely chew the meat. The tables were sticky, I just felt dirty sitting there. Definitely not going back. UGHGROSS

Very average sushi joint. Customer service was okay. Parking is difficult in the strip mall but there are attendants who help get you in or out. It’s tucked away in the ally behind the Brazilian place. We sat outside cause it was a beautiful summer night and the patio was very nice. The sushi was decent but they don’t have many sashimi options that are reasonable for two people. Either they were too pricy or just not enough selections. They have all the basic«American sushi» rolls which are again decent. This place doesn’t stand out but they were nice to us and took care of our table better than some of the experiences of other Unilocalers. Guess we got lucky.

So I’ve tried this many times in yhe span pf 10 months, I work just around the corner of this place, and every time I come in, there’s always a surprise. Today is Saturday, i came in at lunch time and to my surprise, they told me that there’s an extra 3 dollar charge for lunch during weekend. I’VEEATEN at numerous sushi and this the first time I’ve heard this. What they should do is create a separate weekend menu with different pricing. This way the shock factor will disappear from customers. It seems like everytime i come here there’s extra charge for something. I tried really in good conscience to be really fair, but the extra charges for being a weekend is just absurd. The hand roll is more expensive than a roll and etc. The food is mediocre and not really that good. I won’t be coming back. This will be my last time here GOTOSUSHIKAREN located just walking distance from here.

This is not by all means the best sushi spot, but it will do the job if you’re in the area or craving sushi. They have a variety of selections from green mussels, rock n roll sushi, and of course ranbiw roll(which is my favorite sushi to order). They also serve sake and beer. They usually have some sort of special happening.

It’s just an average sushi joint in my opinion. We went on a walk and needed to swing by Ralph’s. We started to get hungry so decided to grab something here really quick. The interior was cool and the service was good. I just had an avocado roll and tried my roommates tempura veggies. The veggies were heavy on the oil but they tasted okay. The avocado roll was nothing special.

This sushi spot is ehh ok! The only reason I come here is because they have the red rock roll which is crispy rice with tuna on top. That sushi roll is my favorite and they don’t have it just anywhere other than katsuya.

Ok strip mall sushi restaurant. That’s my short description of this place. I’ve definitely had better, definitely had worse. Being at the Culver plaza it shares a parking lot with with ton of other businesses including a LA Fitness. Point is parking can really suck here during peak hours. I’ve been here a few times and have never had to wait for a table. The service is good. The waitresses are always nice enough. The food is alright. The sushi is fresh, that’s good lol. I’ve never had anything bad but I’ve also never had anything particularly memorable.
