The service in this restaurant is good. I ordered a curry with rice, I’m glad it came out fast because I was in a rush; but when I began to ate the bowl, half of my rice was stale and hard.

I’ve returned repeatedly to this small location, out of the way in The Oaks center, very quick service, without fancy accommodations. Tonkatsu Ramen is a favorite of mine, as well as Shoyu.

Hum… It’s just a normal ramen restaurant. When we got there, there were only a few people in the restaurant. It didn’t take too long for the dish coming out. I think the appetisers were stunning. We ordered the takoyaki and potato korokke, I loved them! The beef bowl was delicious too. About the ramen, the noodles were too soft to me, but the soup base was fine. The service was OK.

Zero ambience. Service is almost non-existent and not professional. My experience started with gyoza that was warm, not hot, and while the bottom seemed to find a hot frying pan, the soggy nature of the bottom and the pool of liquid in the serving dish made this seem as if it was microwaved or still defrosting. Sauce is on the table. Pass on this. The green tea came from a bag in a tall tumbler with barely hot water. I had the tonkatsu ramen with the seaweed and egg. The egg has hard boiled, not poached, and apparently in water, not a shoyu-based broth. At least it was as hot as the broth. The seaweed was very cold and jarring. I’m guessing this was a Cupertino health department regulation, but warming up the seaweed before putting it on the ramen would probably be better. The sesame grater could have used a good cleaning. The chashu was non-descript. The broth thin, seemingly watered down, but had potential in terms of flavor. The noodles were soft. On the bright side, I didn’t get sick. Honestly, I’ve paid a lot for ramen slightly better than this and a lot less for ramen that was indescribably amazing, but for $ 21 I would have spent it someplace else and will in the future.

Waitress took our order and then completely forgot about us. Waited 20 minutes to find out she didn’t even remember our orders. Also asked for extra napkins and she couldn’t even remember that… Awful service.

Being an ramen fanatic, I am always on the prowl for a noodle spot. I stumbled upon this quaint shop after checking out Shane Co with my mom on Christmas Eve. We were seated immediately because we got there right when it opened and there was only one other party there. We ordered the tonkatsu ramen, garlic edamame, and gyoza. The ramen was absolutely fantastic. The noodles were just right, not too soft but not too hard. The egg was done masterfully. A lot of other places boast about their eggs, but Mitasu knows what they are doing. The broth was oh so flavorful. I didn’t get the sense of it being oily at all. I enjoyed it from the beginning spoonful to the last. I recommend it! The garlic edamame was fantastic. It has a glaze or marinade on it rather than just powder. A lot of places sprinkle garlic powder and call it a day. Love this and would order again. The gyoza was alright. Wish it was a bit crispier but I was glad I tried it. The service was great. Very friendly and helpful. Because I didn’t have to donate a quarter of my rainy day waiting for ramen, this place deserves 5 stars. I’ll definitely be back!!!

The ramen is about the same price as at anywhere else and the quality is about average. The noodles aren’t soggy but they aren’t as chewy as they could be. The broth is not bad, but can be a tad bit oily sometimes. But for the pluses, they have small sesame seed graters for each table so you can put freshly grated sesame seeds into your ramen — pretty cool touch! Also they get the soft boiled egg just right, which not many ramen places do properly. Also their karaage and takoyaki are solid, so I get that as a side to my ramen every time. They always seem to be a bit on the slow side in terms of business — I think it has to do with their location. The Oaks just doesn’t get much foot traffic in general compared to other plazas. But the servers have always been courteous and efficient.

Very slow service on the weekend, clearly understaff; with one waiter taking care of the whole restaurant, it took them 45 minutes to bring out our order to the table. We received a cold ramen as a result of it, but taste-wise it was decent. Came here on two occasions and had the spicy miso ramen and the original miso ramen. The spicy miso tonkotsu($ 12) was probably the better one out of the two. It has a great broth profile, rich(but not as creamy as I would have liked) and flavorful. It comes with one piece of chasu pork, which tasted bleh and have a strong porky taste. The shrimp tempura and the soft boiled egg, however, was quite yummy — overall, pretty satisfying bowl of ramen. The original Tonkotsu($ 11), on the other hand, was average at best. The toppings that come with it was similar to the spicy miso, but the broth was less flavorful and portion was also on the skimpy side. Presentation was however, simple and appetizing. Not bad overall, but definitely not a good enough ramen worth 45 mins waiting for.

Great Ramen place that has a good amount of dining space. The spicy miso ramen was really good and you get tempura shrimp which is awesome. I added an extra egg and some corn and was very happy.

Solid ramen place. Unfortunately, not a whole lot of variety(they don’t have a shio broth), but both the boyfriend and I had the spicy miso tonkatsu ramen and it was packed with flavor and not too spicy. It also came with a soft-boiled egg. We got there early in the evening and as we left the restaurant(6:30pm on a Sunday night), the place was almost full, with only 1 server there. She was able to keep up, but I felt bad because it must have been a lot of work for her. I would ask for a little more variety in the food, but I think it’s also good that they’re specializing in one thing. They have some rice bowls for $ 5 also, but they’re on the smaller side.

Pros Spicy Miso Tonkotsu Broth: even though it was heavier on the oily side, the broth is super rich from the miso paste and there was plenty of heat from the chili spices. Toppings: I personally enjoyed the mixture of minced pork, chashu, corn, shrimp tempura, and a whole egg on the spicy miso tonkotsu ramen. There was no need to order extra toppings since the entire bowl was filling. Cons: Tonkotsu: not sure if it was I went as soon as they opened by tonkotsu broth was a bit bland, I had incorporate some sesame powder and chili spices from their condiments that’s included on all tables. The noodles were also cooked overdone compared to my first visit.

My mother & I came in right as they re-opened for dinner so about 5pm. The restaurant was pretty slow so it was just us two. I ordered the potato korokke & Tonkotsu Ramen w/no egg extra corn & shrimp tempura.(I know some of you are wondering why no egg, well see I’m pregnant & raw egg is no good. Simple as that) My mother ordered just a simple beef bowl with shrimp tempura on the side. Our waiter took took our order fairly fast & within the next 15min our food was here! The korokke in my opinion could’ve been a tad bit crispier but it was still fairly good. The broth to my Tonkotsu was pretty good, had to add a bit of spice to it to make it better. The shrimp tempura was just right & as for my mothers rice bowl she said it was very flavorful and filling for such a small bowl. But looks can be deceiving . Overall a pretty good place to try if you have the chance

My experience here was pretty interesting. I initially ordered the spicy miso ramen and my friend ordered the regular tonkotsu. My friend’s ramen came out first, so I tried the soup to see what it was like. I was pleasantly surprised! My expectations for this place weren’t very high. I haven’t been here in years and I’m pretty sure this restaurant has changed ownership. The previous ramen place here sucked. Anyway, back to the ramen. The noodles were just the right texture – on the thicker side, and just the right amount of chewiness. The soup was delicious! It had a lot of flavor but thankfully wasn’t too oily. I really really liked the tonkotsu. Now…as for the spicy miso ramen… that was a completely different story. The broth looked much oilier, and I was hesitant to try a spoonful of just soup. But I did, and the first spoonful was not pleasant at all. I’m being 100% serious when I say that the soup tasted like Doritos. My friend didn’t believe me until he tried it. He didn’t think it tasted like Doritos, but he said it tasted like Mexican food. Either way, that’s not a good taste to be associating with ramen. It was just weird. I tried to see if I would get used to it, but after 5 more spoonfuls, I was done. I called the waitress over and told her that I wasn’t a fan of the spicy miso ramen. She was surprisingly super nice about it and replaced it with a regular tonkotsu ramen without charging me extra. Once my tonkotsu ramen arrived, the rest of my meal was pretty good. The soft boiled egg was delicious, and the chashu meat was pretty good as well. But the tonkotsu broth is definitely the highlight here(which I think should always be the case for ramen). Overall, I would definitely recommend trying this place! Just stay away from the spicy miso ramen and you’re good to go.

Stopped in to get a quick bowl of ramen at Mitasu while we were in Cupertino. I had the Spicy miso tonkatsu ramen, which was good. It was a small bowl with tiny toppings $ 12 they want you to add toppings from $ 1 to $ 3 per item. We ordered the chicken karrage, squid legs karrage, and takoyaki. The takoyaki tasted ok but was under cooked and was watery inside. The bad item was the pork tonkatsu curry rice. The pork tonkatsu was extremely hard, dry and tough. Do not order. $ 52 before tip. The ramen was good. The facilities are marginal with tiny tables and booths. Service was OK. Plenty of parking in the shopping center.

The short of it: awesome ramen that is fast and über-customizable. The lengthy bit: the menu consists of 3 basic ramen bowls that you can add toppings to for $ 1 each. The service is incredibly fast, and the presentation is visually appealing! The prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended!

The spicy ramen was surprisingly tasty with the right amount of spice, noodle, and toppings. The soup it self was very tasty. The pork and egg was just right. I also ordered the seaweed salad, which was just a little to sweet for my taste.

Decided to give it a try as it’s close by and we had a craving for ramen. We each had the tonkatsu ramen with sweet corn. I have to say for $ 1 for corn — we didn’t get very much which was disappointing. I feel like it’s a bit pricey — $ 11 for our bowls since we had the corn which wasn’t even that much… The broth was very light and very good — was a little disappointed with the chasu — it was a bit tough but there was two pieces. The noodles were very good… and I have to say for those haters out there who are dissing this place because they don’t think it’s authentic from Japan — get over yourself! If you want authentic Japanese — go to Japan — I love CA and especially our area because of the diversity and how there’s a a blend where you get the best of all worlds… Who says Ramen has to be made only by the japanese? if that’s the case I question some of the japanese restaurants I’ve been in and seen mexican cooks! I won’t name names… but one happens to be in Japantown in SJ! ANYWAY — off my soap box. I thought the Ramen was very good — fast and filling. Would definitely come back and want to try other dishes… may go for the Spicy Miso Tonkatsu — seems to have good reviews from fellow Unilocalers! OH and the EGG was PERFECT! LOVED that it wasn’t cooked all the way but the whites had a nice flavor… Very tasty! :)

Not sure what’s wrong with this particular store location in the plaza, but each restaurant opened here did not sustain for long. A ramen place, then a HK style café. Now here we have Mitasu, will they be able to break the trend? The interior decoration has not changed much comparing with the last restaurant operating here. The menu is pretty simple with ramen from three type of soup bases — Tonkotsu, Tonkotsu Shoyu and Spicy Miso Tonkotsu. Some other appetizer dishes are available too. Spicy Miso Tonkotsu: B++. Not too bad overall. Unlike other ramen joints offering spiciness level choices for spicy ramen, there’s only one level here and for a person who can’t eat too spicy like me, I think it was a mild level for me. The soup itself was not very rich but not watery neither. The noodle was one of those thin, curly type with quite chewy(hard boiled) texture. Chashu was the best ingredients of the bowl. Very tender, with the right amount of fat in between each layer. It came with 2pcs and I regret I did not add additional pieces. For the egg, the one I got was almost fully cooked while I thought it’s supposed to be soft boiled. Further reading the menu, the egg that came as standard topping was only described as «Egg», and there is an option to add additional toppings of «soft boiled egg» so I wonder if that additional one would be really soft boiled or not. I also added Kimchi, mushroom and bamboo shoot as additional toppings. I was quite looking forward to the Kimchi but it was just so-so. $ 12 for this ramen with $ 1 for each additional topping = $ 15 total. A bit skewed to the pricy side. Mitasu’s ramen is really not bad. I liked it. But there are just way too many competitions in the South Bay that if you don’t have your house specialty soup style it will be hard for you to stay competitive. Fortunately this location is very close to De Anza College and when I went during lunch hour, the whole restaurant was full of students(and I think I was the oldest one there). So hopefully this will generate enough business for them, assuming they can keep up with the quality, but I wish they can keep improving and come up with some unique stuff on the menu.

What’s UP with all this hate people?! Aren’t we all just ramen lovers?! Aishiteru, Mitasu ;) Mitasu is pretty tasty and the ramen here makes my taste buds FLY! Obviously if you want a certain kind of ramen in a special kind of way, then go there. But for all ramen lovers out there, you gotta come in with an open mind! [[LOCATION: B]] Mitasu is like Orenchi’s shy cousin who just moved to town but he’s actually really cool if you get to know him. My brother and I were feeling adventurous Saturday morning and wanted to try a new ramen joint *gasp*. Seeing the ~13 reviews on Unilocal was not a big deterrent for me and the pictures looked delicious so here we go! Located right across from De Anza College, Mitasu is situated in a plaza next to the 85. Convenient right? Parking in the Oaks Shopping Center is annoying due to the limited spots but on a nice Saturday, we didn’t have trouble with that. It is RIGHTNEXT to Quickly’s so their restaurant sign isn’t visible along Stevens Creek Blvd. [[AMBIANCE: B]] Entering the restaurant, it’s a quaint, horizonal strip of tables and chairs easily fitting 40 people at a time. The décor was simplistic and underground, and presented an air of casual ramen dining. Their wallpaper is a black chalkboard and you can see different cute artwork. Two servers were on board at time and they were on point with being welcoming and quick to address our hungry orders! [[RAMENQUALITY: Solid A]] My brother sampled the Spicy Miso Tonkotsu($ 12): Chasu, Shrimp Tempura, Ground Meat, Corn, Green Onion, and perfect soft boiled Egg (Pic: ) I had a taste of my bro’s ramen and it was delightful! The spicy broth was on point. To my taste, it was not too fatty or too thin/watery. The amount of spice was just right. The crispy batter on the shrimp tempura was piping hot fresh! Overall, my brother thoroughly enjoyed the spicy miso as he slurped the bowl clean. I opted to try the regular ol’ Tonkotsu Ramen($ 10): Chashu, Kigurage Mushroom, Bamboo Shoots, Green Onions, soft-boiled Egg (Pic: ) The noodles were medium-sized and springy like Orenchi’s! It’s definitely one of the better noodles I’ve tasted in awhile. The texture of the noodle was a perfected product of firm and soft, as a Japanese ramen noodle should be! Their broth again was not too fatty(like Kotetsu) but also not watery thin like non-Japanese joints. The pork broth flavor was very hearty and savory and not overly salty. Their toppings are also aplenty and the chashu came with TWO slices of pork. Albeit they were slightly fatty but I rather have some fat and meat than a thin slice of disappointment(Orenchi, I’m looking at you, bud). They also offer other appetizers such as karage chicken and takoyaki. I will save that for next time! Prices were reasonable even for college students and all taxes are included. Overall, I left full, happy, and satisfied. This has been one of my better noodle experiences thus far and especially on a Saturday morning, my brother and I waited 0 minutes! If you want good, tasty solid ramen, try out Mitasu. It’s right next to Quickly’s so you can only guess where I went afterwards… I hope this ramen place is here to stay! I’ll be back; arigatou gozaimasu Mitasu!

Fast, friendly, and the ramen is decent. Score: 3.5 out of 5 stars. This new ramen restaurant is located in the same spot that used to be «A Plus Tea House.» The fact that this location has seen so many restaurants come and go over the years already puts Mitasu at a disadvantage. However, unlike previous restaurants, Mitasu is riding the current«ramen wave» that has swept the Bay Area during the past few years. With a few minor adjustments to their menu, Mitasu will have a good chance at sticking around for many years to come. The Food: I ordered a bowl of Tonkotsu Ramen, which came with the typical ingredients, minus the bamboo shoots, as they ran out of them and I chose mushrooms as a substitute. A couple things impressed me with this ramen: the two slices of chashu were thicker than most other chashu slices I’ve had before, and I was given a whole egg that was cooked to perfection.(Certain ramen restaurants only give you half an egg.) There was only one issue I had with the ramen, and it’s a big one: the broth needs to be changed. As Kim N. already mentioned, the broth doesn’t have a ton of depth. Since the broth is the backbone of Tonkotsu Ramen, I expect it to be rich and flavorful, not weak in taste where I have to keep scooping in the roasted garlic slices that is available at every table. Mitasu is serving the right type of food in a great location, so I hope they make whatever changes are needed for them to stick around for a long time.
