Stopped by last week for dinner with my husband. Loved the menu! They have anything and everything someone seeking Mexican food would want. Everything was super clean, and the service was very attentive! The margaritas were also very delicious! We ordered the cheese enchiladas with queso on top(yes, more cheese!) and fajitas. All the food came out very prompt and it was delicious. No complaints here, and hope to be back very soon!

Angus Beef Fajitas are perfectly cooked and this Michelada is hitting the spot after a long day. Great service and food. Glad my favorite restaurant from the Woodlands is now in Cypress.

Can I give it 0 stars? The tastiest thing was the tortillas. The chips are from a box. The red salsa is bitter and the green salsa had no flavor. Don’t bother.

We went on a Saturday night at 7:30. It was our first time and we are always looking for a good tex mex restaurant. For the time and day we went, I expected them to be busy, but they weren’t, which makes the service we got even worse. The chips and salsa were good, but I would have loved a refill. 4 adults and a child and 1 serving was not enough but our waitress never refilled it. The food was just ok. I ordered cheese enchiladas, my huband had the chili relleno, which was too eggy and didn’t take great. My MIL had sour cream enchiladas, which she didn’t really like and my dad ordered the stuffed chicken breast, which is said was ok. I had a 20% off coupon that was posted on Rico’s facebook page. The link took you to a website that told me to enter a code from our receipt, which I did, but it wouldn’t recognize the code. I told the waitress the trouble I was having and she went and asked her manager, who told her it was because they were having trouble with their system. My reply was that I wanted to use the coupon and they needed to honor it. After our waitress talked to her manager again, she came back and said they would only do $ 5 off. Our bill was around $ 40, so that wasn’t nearly 20%. I told her I wanted the 20%. She went back to her manager, and the waitress came back and asked if she could take my phone to the manager in the back! Um, no but she can come out here and look at it. Keep in mind, the restaurant is not slammed. The waitress went back again and I watched her and another female(presumably the manager) at a computer. The waitress came over with an adjusted ticket for us to honor the 20%. I was more turned off by the manager not coming out and handling a management situation. I shouldn’t have been made to wait for the waitress to go back and forth. Between the food and the way the situation was handled, we will not be returning.

Let’s start with the word consistent. Or even consistency. However you want to put it in a sentence. This word will either make or break a restaurant. My first visit here earned this place 4 stars easily. I’ve been looking for a great spot for great fajitas(beef) in the area and that is a very hard find. Rico’s answered the call with some very high quality beef. It lacked in seasoning but the quality of the beef was very impressive. I first got a sample of it before making a full order and I was reeled right in to order 1lb of beef only. I need no tortillas for this beef. Only grilled onions and jalapenoes. I was happy with my order. I took a picture of it and posted it on Unilocal for future reference as well as a tempting reference to others. That’s what you do right? Nothing wrong with that right? Well, I didn’t review the restaurant because I wanted to visit it again to make sure the awesome service and food was consistent.(There goes that word again.) Stay with me here because drama is about to kick in. Visit #2. Thank God for our server Crystal. If it had not been for her, we would have left the restaurant to never return again. Well remember the theme here for this review is consistency. Lets be clear… it does not exist at Rico’s. When it was time to order I simply pulled up Unilocal on my phone and showed it to the server. I said the last time I was here I ordered this and I want the same thing. She complimented on the picture and said no problem. Two others at my table ordered the same thing as I did; a pound of beef fajitas no tortillas or sides. Ten minutes later she came from the kitchen to tell us they can’t do our order. Both her and I was confused. She said don’t worry she would go speak with the manager about it as the chef said he couldnt duplicate our previous order from visit #1. We saw her going back and forth with the manager and he agreed with the chef. Come to find out that during our first visit the GM was there and everyone was willing then to please customers. It was the GM that suggested my plate on the last visit. So now when he is not there, managers fail at honoring GM type customer service. Let’s review. I took a photo of my dish. On return they can’t make the same dish and only the GM can approve it. What the heck just happened? I just order 1 lb of fajitas with no sides. That’s not special at all. This confusion is why I wanted to leave. However the server saved the day persisting that a customer should be able to order the same dish as ordered only 2 weeks ago no matter what chef or manager is on duty. So we ate… for almost the same plate, burped and left. All stars go to the missing GM and Crystal. More training is needed for the chef and other management on the word consistency and customer service. I want to come back but only when the GM is there. Perhaps I should call first. Call first and prosper.

Great start to a new place. I had the cilantro jalapeño chicken. Wish I took a picture of the food before I took a bite. Great happy hour. They also take care of CyFair teachers! Awesome.

Before coming here I had to chuckle at reading some of the previous 3 five star reviews posted for this newly opened restaurant! These posters that have a history of one review with no profile picture of themselves that give the restaurant 5 stars with a minimal write up are obvious attempts by the restaurant employees to generate positive buzz about a newly opened business like this. Always look at reviews like that to determine if they are legitimate because they usually aren’t. This restaurant actually has good food so they didn’t need to do that. Here is my legit report. I had dinner here earlier this week. The interior space is an open design with large windows surrounding the entire restaurant and offering spacious views of outside. The restaurant is located in a combined retail and residential complex adjacent to Hwy 290 and Skinner Road. After being seated I ordered the chicken fajitas on the menu for $ 13.99. The complimentary chips and salsas then arrived. The chips were warm along with the red salsa. The green salsa was cool. I liked them. I preferred the red salsa to the green but they were both good. The fajitas arrived shortly after ordering with the charro beans and tortillas(see pic). The chicken was tender, moist and flavorful. Along with the onions provided and guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo they all provided for a very good meal. The charro beans were very good too with bits of meat included. Before the meal I was expecting a 3 meal but instead I got a 4! I really could not find anything to complain about. My server Robert provided very professional table service(4). After the meal I visited the restroom and it was nice and clean. Also they provide free wifi here.

My husband and I were excited to see a Rico’s opening up in our area. We tried it after church. We were 100% disappointed. The food was bland, the booth seats were lumpy and uncomfortable. Our service was slow. The waitress even baulked a bit at giving us more hot sauce — she told my husband he had some on his plate to use! Really? She told us that they no longer serve sweet tea — not enough people were ordering it – there is enough data after being open 6 days to do away with sweet tea? I found the restaurant to be noisy, although it was clean and the restrooms were nice. I do not have high hopes that this Rico’s will remain open unless it changes. We were hoping that it would be a good Mexican restaurant — Cypress could use one.
