Came in for a bite to eat after going to the Falls. The hostess sat us right next to the door with a pretty empty restaurant. Was not a fan but no biggy. Our hostess was pretty stand offish… Maybe just a bad day for the restaurant overall. I ordered the kitchen sink pizza. It was not that great. I was planning on just getting a slice. It was not an option, you have to order a whole pizza. Overall not a great experience and I prob won’t come back.

Extremely good pizza, nice staff, and has the most seats at a bar in town. I just wish that the menu would expand a little bit more. I would be fine with it just being a pizza joint, but the makeover and the addition of a host would lead some to believe that it is a lot more. I also wish they would carry Coke products. Pepsi tastes terrible! Still, a top 3 place to eat in town. It’s right up there with Shenanigans and Bourbon Street Grille

Top of the line pizza. The best in the area. It’s definitely more of a bar/sports bar feel than a family dining style restaurant so if you are looking for family style dining, not your place. It’s a great place to kick back, shoot the breeze with friends, down a few pints, walk around the square a while then come back and down a few more pints.

Pizza is good. Nothing outstanding or super memorable but still good. I’m sure I’ll be back as it is one of the better places for pizza I’ve had in the area. Decent beer selection. Prices are a bit high, they consider pepperoni a premium topping which seems shady.

Some of my sorority sisters and I were in Dahlonega for the weekend and stopped in to this place to grab takeout dinner, as we needed to be back to the cabin where we were staying not too long after then. The place was quite packed but they accommodated us very well at the bar. We sat with menus and decided what we wanted to order. The bartender was very kind and took our payments quickly and efficiently. The warm, inviting, fun-in-the-mountains ambiance of this place made me wish I could have stayed longer. It would make a great place for dinner, with family or with friends. Within the next ten minutes after we ordered, all of our food was out in front of us(there were three different orders). We were very pleased with the short amount of time it had taken to prepare everything, especially since we had been in such a hurry. I ordered the cheese pizza and it was delicious! My best friend attends the University of North Georgia just down the street from the square where this place is located and the next time I go up to visit her I’m pretty sure that I’ll insist we go to this place for dinner one night. I only wish I had experienced more as to give it 5 stars. For now, a solid 4 for a solid yet brief experience. I will be back!

–Amazing food(my fave is the calzone). –Talented musical performers. –Great, attentive service. — Clean restrooms. –Great bar selection. What more could you want from a restaurant?! Great place to go on a Friday night to drink or on a weekend with the kids.

OK… So out«server» was also tending bar. She gave us a «few minutes» to make a decision. Cool, but we had to wait longer than expected since she couldn’t seem to get away from pouring for the folks at the bar. As for the pizza, it’s good but you can only get one size — large. If you’re not really into great service and a warm-fuzzy feeling, then you’d probably enjoy it. Next time we’re in town though, we’re going to try the newer pizza place near the antique shops I think.

We were really impressed! After going Christmas tree hunting on Sunday, we were looking for a family dinner place on the way through Dahlonega and saw Gustavo’s. It’s new — in a building on the square that, for all of my childhood, housed a huge antiques store — so I was curious to go in! It was a Sunday evening and the place was fairly quiet, although I could see it being crazy on a Friday or Saturday, crawling with college kids from NGCSU which is right across the street. It is decorated in pretty typical pizza bar fashion, football I some big screen tv’s and there is a large bar in the center. My one complaint would be that, for all the tables, they had one individual bathroom, so getting a turn takes a while! They had an interesting selection of bottled beers and beers on draft. Much better than I was expecting! My husband had a frosty glass of Rare Vos, a rare treat straight from the tap! We devoured the Gouda waffle fries for an appetizer and the cheesy, bacon-y fries were really delicious with the tangy, spicy jalapeño sauce! There were just two sizes of pizza. An 8 inch from the kids menu — for a kid’s size that is quite generous! — and the 16 inch large pizza. Because we were feeding three from the big one, getting a large didn’t bother us, but I could see a small party finding that irritating, not having size options. I wonder, if you were eating alone– if you could get away with ordering the kids meal? We had the Noah’s Ark pizza, the«all of the meats» option, and it was impressively good! Really one of the best pizzas I’ve had in a hundred mile radius! Flavorful meats, generously sprinkled, a great marinara and a very nice crust, thin, but not too thin with an actual flavor. It was a perfect, definitely not bland, base for the toppings. With many pizzas it’s the crust that leaves me cold, but this one was yummy! The sausage and Italian meatballs were my fave toppings. Their texture and flavor were wonderful. Portions were good. Between the kid’s pizza and the large, for two adults and two hungry kiddos, we left with two slices in a to-go box. I was thrilled to find them still in the fridge last night and ate them for dinner again. Three days later, still delicious!

Of all things culinary, I’d assume it would be difficult to really mess up with Italian. That doesn’t meant to say it’s easy to make it great, but honestly, these guys at Gustavo’s have to be trying to make it as bad as it was. Let’s start with a half empty restaurant, with several tables available, and a ten minute wait! I guess they were trying to decompress the kitchen on a Saturday evening. Ok, fast forward, now we are seated and my 48-year-old friend gets carded to order a beer. Really? So, beers ordered along with some cheese rolls, marinara and loaded fries. The loaded fries were a hit; that’s about it. The cheese rolls were served in an aluminum pan and were stuck to the bottom. I ordered baked ziti with extra cheese and meatballs. Got neither, just plain baked ziti. Oh and yeah, it took almost 30-minutes for the food to be served after we had the appetizers. I was too frustrated to send it back. A couple of the guys had the veggie calzones, which were under-cooked and very doughy. Waitress was ok, but could not overcome the delays and poor quality of food. Two stars and trust, I am being generous.

Pizza was good. Ordered the mushrooms and spinach to be added our white pizza, which cost an extra $ 2, but I didn’t feel like we really got $ 2 worth. I’m not sure I even got a single mushroom slice on my pieces. Nice college-town atmosphere. Friendly waitress!

Good beer selection and the service was ok. The food was blah. Prices are too high for the quality of food they serve. A mellow mushroom would put this place out of business.

This was a big let down. The in-laws sang the praises of the restaurant, and our experience was less than stellar. They were out of main items because they were so busy the day before they didn’t make enough dough. One of our party members ordered a fried chicken salad and it came out wrong. They opted not to have music because there was a festival in the square earlier in the day, even though there were advertisements about live music on Fri and Sat. The prices were high given the selections: sandwiches and pizza. Pizza itself was adequate, but not $ 20 worth. I don’t know that we’ll be eating here on our next visit.

Since my last review, several changes have been made… salads are still my favorite(in that I’m not a huge pizza fan although their pizza is wonderful too). House made dressings! The draft beer and bottle selection is top notch and mostly local, which is awesome! They will soon be getting a liquor license, so even more selection to come. They now do table service which is nice… no more bussing your own table. They host trivia weekly and live music on the weekends with no cover. Pizza by the slice is only offered 11 – 3 for lunch which is a bummer. Food prices may be a little high, but quality of food is great! Haven’t tried anything I didn’t like… get the Bay Blue salad and garlic rolls and you’ll leave happy.

Food is good. Maybe worth three stars. Prices are high. Management engages in practices designed to jack up the bill on weekends(down to two stars). Knowing that Dahlonega is a weekend destination town, they eliminate many standard weekday offerings like pizza by the slice, side salads, and other lower price options. Your only option on weekends is to buy a whole pie($ 18 – 20) and a whole salad($ 8). The pizza is good, but not very large, so don’t expect to feed more than 3 on a pizza, unless also ordering appetizers, big salads, and other sides. Also, although the restaurant opens at 11:30 am on Sundays, don’t expect to get a beer until 12:300 pm or later. Don’t ask me why. Pizza without beer is like pizza without beer! My personal pet peeve … they insist on seating children in a bar area … which is the closest thing we have to a kid-free zone. I’m sure that Georgia code addresses this situation, but where is a restaurant policeman when you need one! Also, do something about the flies. I know that with the country comes flies, but either put in one of those Ecolab fly killers, or issue fly swatters at each table. Really. Ick!

The last reviews here were not that great. They were over 2 years ago. I guess things have changed a bit. I was there with my family last Saturday. We had the fried ravioli and was awesome better than mozzarella sticks. The garlic bread was ok. We ordered a variety of stuff and everything was great. From chicken parm to pizza. They did have draft beer I got the yeungling pint and had a few frosty beverages. Waitress was attentive and the place was getting busy. Had interesting live music but was pretty good. Even took a request from my daughter and played sail by awolnation. Going back next time I am around.

We were looking for a place to have a late dinner in town on a Saturday evening-had limited options due to a lot of the restaurants closing early(9 or before)! Gustavo’s was open and pizza sounded good. We ordered the«Kitchen Sink». It was delicious and we were also able to enjoy live music!

The food was edible, not good. It was tasteless and lack seasoning in their sauce. Had cheese pizza and garlic rolls. We waited for that basic order 45mins!!! When I asked if it was coming soon, she responded«oh, I’m sorry, forgot to put in the order». There were only 2 other tables with people, place was empty! Being in the industry, I can tell you I was VERY disappointed.

My Holiday Pizza Tour stopped in here on December 30 and tried out the Noah’s Ark. It’s their all meat pizza and I ended up getting it to go. I enjoyed it. Crust is right on and the toppings were fresh and layed on pretty good. That means there were a lot of them!!! I read a few of the reviews here and decided to hold off on an in depth review of my own(hence 3 stars) because I just got a to=go order, but I would like to come back and try the very good looking White Pizza.
