I’ve been coming here since I was a small child with my family and still come today as I near 30. This is the first time I’ve ever been here and not been happy about my meal. The steak in my fajitas was much different in appearance, taste, and quantity than what I’ve experienced for the duration of my life. I asked our waitress if they changed something and she said yes and that everyone keeps asking«is there something different?» She said there was new management. My advice and plea for the new management is to go back to the old ways, the ways that has made blue goose a lower Greenville staple for the past 30 plus years. Very disappointed that my favorite restaurant is slipping into mediocrity under new management.

Our server Randy, was great! I got the chicken fajitas that were on special for 11.99 they were good and came with all the fixings. House margarita was eh probably wouldn’t get it again. Goose egg appetizer was pretty good! It’s a very casual restaurant also has a lot of options for Tex mex food. Also a good bar area to watch a game, awesome outside seating!

We sat outside. The patio is really nice on a nice day. I’d give it 4 stars for the patio. The food was solid. I’d give it 3 ½ stars for the food. There are far better Tex-Mex restaurants in Dallas, but it was fine and I’d give it 3 ½ stars. The margaritas were tasty, but weak. Disappointing. Since this is a really important part of being a good Tex-Mex restaurant, and serving weak drinks is just plain greedy, I’m appropriately downgrading them to 3 stars. If you want Tex-Mex on the really cool Greenville Avenue strip, and you can sit outside, it’s fine. But if you’re looking for really authentic food and great drinks, then Blue Goose underwhelms.

Their tortilla soup kicks ass. Like, seriously, so good.(Heads up, it does include mushrooms.) I’m torn because I clearly love their soup, service is quick, employees are friendly, atmosphere is chill, and the patio is a good size, but last time I visited I was left annoyed. Two friends and I arrived at 10:10 on a Thursday night. We sat at a table on the patio and were quickly greeted. Our waiter, who I believe is the owner, immediately said the kitchen was closed. No worries as we only wanted a quick drink or two. He then explained they were closing at 10:30. No worries as we only wanted a quick drink! He then became frustrated and reiterated they were closing soon. No one wants to be the cat scratching at a door that won’t open, so we bounced and went to Dodie’s instead. Maybe our waiter had just a crap day, but I was disappointed that we weren’t served. I’ll still be back!

It’s been a few years since I’ve been to Blue Goose for supper. Jamie and I went on a whim on a beautiful April evening, sat at a pink table on the front porch on Greenville, and experienced the worst service either of us have received at any restaurant, ever. The restaurant was about 25% full, and we were approached by a hip young waiter in a ball cap. We ordered shrimp fajitas to share with double beans(refried and borracho), no rice, and a queso. Here’s a summary of what happened over the next half hour. — Waiter shows up with three plates, all with large piles of rice on them. One, served on a fajita platter with burned rice, had five grilled shrimp on it(a ridiculous ripoff for the $ 18 price), and the other two had each kind of beans on it, flanked by a big pile of rice. No rice requested, and about a pound of cooked rice received. «Is this all the fajitas, come with, shrimp and rice?» «Yes» “No grilled veggies?” «No» “Huh. Is the queso coming?” «Oh, yeah.»(walks away) Bad start. 5 – 10 minutes later: «Is the queso coming?» «Oh yeah.»(walks away) 10 minutes later: Queso is delivered. «May we have some more salsa, please?»(bowl empty for last 5 minutes) 10 minutes later, no salsa. We ask the table next to us, waiting for their waiter, to see one of their menus. Fajitas are supposed to come with avocado, pico, and sour cream, according to the menu. I guess the waiter did not know that. First place ever where the fajitas are not served with grilled veggies. $ 18 for shrimp fajitas, no veggies. Crazy. There were several other service fumbles that I will spare from this review that further magnified our horror, lest I exceed the maximum Unilocal character limitations. We got the bill, and were charged extra for the rice he mistakenly brought, because he apparently completely missed the part where we wanted beans instead of rice(because we didn’t want any rice). Jamie preferred that I not make an issue of the deplorable service with the manager, lest it tarnish an otherwise pleasant experience on the porch, overlooking the fact that we received very little that we ordered, and got charged extra for it. I hope this is a one off service experience– maybe the guy was new, and poorly trained? The place was not busy, so take away the potential slammed explanation. I am not in a hurry to go back to this Blue Goose, which is sad because I’ve enjoyed it so much over the last 30 years, and cannot recommend this place to anyone I care for, or any Unilocal review readers who have made it this far, based on the dismal service and disappointing ripoff fajita experience we got here tonight. You have been warned, and if you go here anyway, I sincerely hope your experience is better than ours was.

I have tried this place twice now. The first experience was great, so we returned again. We decided to check it out during Sunday brunch time. Quite busy actually due to the amazing weather that day. We were greeted by a gentleman that was very friendly and seated us outside quickly. Our waitress seemed to be very stressed out and seemed that she was over-whelmed with her tables. We order a strawberry Margarita and a skinny Margarita(Sunday special). Our server took our order and returned with the drinks(including water) 15 minutes later. Maybe they were backed up at the bar, but our waters should have came a lot sooner. We order the chimichanga and the shredded Chicken Taco salad. Both were reasonably priced and delicious. Chips and salsa were also tasty and was always refilled when empty. The margaritas are quite pricey compared to other places for the size. They were good though. Also, I wouldn’t suggest coming here for mimosas(they are $ 5 a glass and up). Our server did not clear our dirty, finished plates away until we paid. They sat at the end of the table until we left. When the bill was brought, all we got from our server was«have a good one» and she raced away to be never seen again. Definitely will return for the food, in hopes of a better experience with service.

I love coming here… especially when the weather is suited to sitting outside, thankfully, that’s almost all year. The service has always been friendly and prompt and I’ve stopped by for lunch and just to hangout. They are generally very busy on good weather days on the weekend, everyone comes out. The bar is frequently a good place to hangout LOL! I particular like the open-air bar, it just feels like you’re sitting outside. And during those hot summer days the air-conditioning feels so good. My favorite item on the menu is the Brisket Taco, it’s Da Bomb! The brisket is moist and tender, which in turn makes an excellent taco. It’s not greasy, so the brisket flavor shines. They keep it simple with fresh onions and cilantro, prefect. Another go to for me is the Chicken Flauta. They were seasoned well and the chicken is tender and moist, but the shell is crispy, not greasy. Served with an astounding cilantro cream sauce that helps make this a favorite for me. The tamales are remarkably good, I’ve only tried the pork tamales, but the«Blue Goose»(chicken) tamales have received a nod from my friends during my last Blue Goose outing. The tostadas are respectable, definitely not the best I’ve ever had, but far from the worst. What keeps me ordering them over and over again? The crispy tortilla, fresh toppings, and the well seasoned beef. Great place for some Tex-Mex and to kill time with friends!

Went yesterday with my gf and her moms and the food was great! The queso was good. Eating the bowl when it’s done was the best part. I had the taco salad and it was good the chipotle dressing is good but next time I’ll get the jalapeño ranch chipotle was a little sweet for me. Service was great too. Definitely a great spot to check out.

Finally checked out this restaurant and it is casual and inexpensive and the service was good. The food on the other hand wasn’t all that good, I had the combo enchilada with a tostada and it didn’t have much taste to it but then it is a Tex mex restaurant. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for something authentic but other than that it was good.

Love the food here. I occasionally make it to Dallas and will make a stop if possible. Beef and chicken chili replenish were not typical/traditions preparations, but delicious none the less. We ordered one of each as an app. Sour cream chicken enchiladas were yummy. Tortilla soup could have been served hotter but was still very good. The rest of the table had a variety of the usual Tex-Mex favorites and I heard nothing but words of deliciousness from around the table. We sat next to the automatic tortilla machine and that was fun to watch especially for our kids. Nice work Blue Goose.

I typically do not review but I have been so highly disappointed I would like to save anyone else a trip. My grandmother, mother, and I attended this location but it was by far the worst experience I have had at a blue goose. The waitress first informed us that the margaritas were on a special for $ 5, apparently they were $ 10. However, we decided to try them anyways. My mother and I opted for a jalapeño margarita which was not only watered down but was not spicy ATALL. On top of this our glasses were chipped, my grandmothers was actually sharp, this is also a health code violation. On top of this my mother found a piece of plastic in her water! This was just the tipping point. When we spoke with our waitress she sent the manager to handle the situation who apologized stating, sorry we open the straws near the cups it must have blew in. This is untrue because straws are provided wrapped. All she stated was that she could offered a new water. She then stated that she could offer us desert. This was incredibly disappointing and we will not be returning, so save yourself a trip guys!

I don’t know how I’ve lived in Dallas for so long and never stepped foot into this Greenville Avenue staple. Is it the fanciest in town? No. Is it the best Tex-Mex you’ll find? Nah. But Blue Goose does offer just a darn good, no-muss, no-fuss meal that everyone can enjoy. The staff is friendly, the food comes out quickly and the margaritas are strong but most of all it is quite affordable(especially on Taco Tuesday!) so for that reason, when I am just in the mood for something quick and consistent, I’ll go to Blue Goose!

Went to this location last night to celebrate my birthday a little early(figured a Sunday night would be pretty dead, which it was except for some overally drunk girls on the skinny margaritas– the Sunday special). At first we sat outside as the weather was a great temperature– plus everyone needs more fresh air in their lives! The food was brought out very quickly and it just as quickly started raining! :(We were moved inside and sat on the patio with the cover which was still nice. I really enjoyed the queso– it came in a tortilla cup you could eat after– every last bite, GONE! The salsa was also not bad. Not my favorite, but we ate a good portion. I got the brisket tacos– with some cheese added to the menu item. My fiancé got the tamales. I also got the sangria margarita– not bad at all, and for $ 6.75 i was not complaining. We both agreed after the meal was done that it was a little over priced for what we got $ 37 plus tip, but we would totally come back to eat appetizers if in the area. Overall, good experience that leaves me craving queso! ;)

Love this place! I come here every time I’m in Dallas. They make their tortillas fresh, and will bring you a few in a basket with some butter if you ask. Nothing better than fresh warm tortillas — I could make a meal out of just those! The rest of the menu has always been good. Nothing spectacular, but always consistent. All day happy hour on Mondays too!

I’ve driven past Blue Goose on several occasions always debating whether I should try it or not. Yesterday was the night that we finally decided not to put it off any longer and actually go in and try the food so many Unilocalers raved about. We came in Monday night at approximately… 6:30pm, the restaurant wasn’t quite busy, but it also wasn’t depressingly empty. The fiancé and I were seated outside and our server was Christian. After ordering a margarita(Note: Happy Hour all day Monday!) we got around to ordering some quesadillas. Our server recommended to get the steak fajitas and boy she wasn’t kidding. THEYWERESOAMAZING. I’m still craving them a day after. By the time we finished our meal,(7:20ish) the place had filled up a bit more so maybe we just came at a weird time. Overall we will definitely be giving Blue Goose another round, maybe try out more of their dishes.

Oh, Blue Goose, how do I love thee?! I cannot recall a time I have ever had anything that I didn’t like and I say that sincerely because I am a foodie. I probably frequent this location, at least 4 times per month, if not more. The food is always great, it’s a fun place to grab a beer… it’s just… fun. Our waitstaff has always been professional and courteous. They’ve never let us get thirsty and they’ve always been patient, despite the crowd. I will continue to frequent this location for as long as I live in Lakewood. The only complaint is the parking but there always seems to be available parking with valet.

I don’t get the hype. Yes, they make their own tortillas, and those are great. But the chile relleno was mediocre at best(and yes, I judge Tex-Mex joins on their rellenos), and their migas was not only bland but actually missing the fried tortilla strips! A friend got their fruit salad, though, and we all nibbled at that — it was pretty good. Their salsa did have a bit of a kick and the chips were quality. Avoid the watermelon margarita — it’s TENFUCKINGDOLLARS — and not that good. For that money, I expect real watermelon juice and a wedge of watermelon. Instead, I got watermelon flavored syrup in a bog standard margarita. Totally not worth it. All said and done, for the money I’d MUCH rather go to Uncle Julio’s.

Ah, Blue Goose, how I have missed you over the past four years but my, how much you have changed. This Blue Goose location on Lower Greenville was my husband and I’s go-to spot for quick Mexican food and by quick, I’m excluding the horrendous parking situation. The quality of food is the same as I remember. The queso with taco meat is still divine even though I know it’s just going to stick to my hips and require hours and hours at the gym to work off. The chicken quesadillas are still my favorite and who can resist the fresh tortillas on offer, for free? Yum. I’m happy to report that the horrendous parking situation that existed several years ago has been fixed by way of free valet. No more driving around the M streets looking for a parking spot where you aren’t going to either get ticketed or towed. I’m also happy to report that a minor renovation to the restaurant has added a gigantic oval-shaped bar with plenty of seating. Previously, the bar was small and only allowed for walk-up ordering. Two small changes that make the Blue Goose even more awesome. Love you, Blue Goose and hope to see you again soon!

I’ve been coming here since my parents dropped me off for college. It’s as much for nostalgia as for their hot tortillas and gooey queso. I’m a sucker for salsa and I love the salsa at Blue Goose. Paired with some fresh from tortillas or hot corn chips and you’ve started the meal off right. Their nachos are delicious and their Blue Goose tamales are spicy and yummy as well. The goose eggs are a fun appetizer(or even entrée if you like, hell half the time I make dinner out of the apps). Service is always friendly, I’ve seriously never had a bad experience. This most recent visit the waitress kept apologizing that it was taking so long to refill my water… and it was seriously just a minute or two(and I was hungover and chugging my water like I hadn’t seen fresh water in months) The margaritas are strong and hit the spot on a hot summer day. The patio is nice in the evening and there is usually a crowd that is more than friendly! There isn’t anything spectacular about most of the food, but it’s good and filling and it’s a great place for lunch or dinner with a group of friends.

A group of friends and I had lunch last Friday and they were supposedly short 2 waiters. Bless her heart, she was working her tale off but service was very slow. I had the Mexican shrimp cocktail… not a fan as it is sweet, rather than savory. What is that? Ketchup? I would NOT recommend. I also ordered a side salad with the jalapeño ranch. It came in a mini taco salad shell. The ranch is great but it was simply lettuce and a shell. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Blue Goose if I can help it.

This is one of the better Blue Goose locations out of the ones I’ve visited in Addison and Plano. They have a little patio where you can venture out when the weather is decent. Good drinks, yummy homemade tortillas, queso, and their brunch never ever disappoints. It’s around all of the hustle and bustle so you can hang out and people watch. My only issue with this one is the parking in the area but sometimes you can get lucky in the surrounding neighborhoods. It’s a must for an evening hangout or Sunday brunch though, for sure!

Went here for dinner with a small group. The service wasn’t the best, our drink orders took a very long time and weren’t correct. We had to ask multiple times for water as well. Drinks were okay here, not great but not terrible. The food is also okay, not great but you got a lot for the price point. My favorite thing was the tortillas and the queso, that’s really all I needed! I wouldn’t go here to eat a main course but it’s a great place to much on tortillas, chips and drinks.

Worst service I’ve experienced in a long time! This is one of my go to Tex-mex places. We were seated promptly and ordered fairly quickly. We waited about 20 minutes maybe longer for queso to arrive. We also ordered tortillas with the queso which I asked for twice then a third time to the hostess. I was never able to order a second drink. We had to ask the bar tender to get our waitress for the tab. This is by far unacceptable. Waitresses and hostesses alike on their phones instead of working. I could understand if they were swamped but this was at 3p! I had to obtain my own silverware from lack of service. Beware of this location!!! Service isn’t even mediocre.

Good go to for Ted Mex in Dallas. Their quesadillas and queso are some of my favorites. The queso is served in an edible crunchy fried tortilla bowl and although I know eating it is probably much much worse than the melted cheese I just can’t resist! The blue goose quesadillas are very tasty and a full order is plenty large to share. They also have delicious beers on tap and their margaritas are also good.
