Nice spacious location with patio seating available. Clean. Big variety of menu items available. You order at the counter and they page you when your food is ready to be picked up. I ordered the shrimp salad for lunch, and for the price there was a disappointing number of shrimp on the plate. The salad itself was a good size, but not a great shrimp-to-greens ratio. The dressings were good(the spicy one was crazy spicy). I’m glad I got my dressing on the side because who knows how heavy-handed they would have been with that spicy one. Decent, relatively quick lunch option, if a little overpriced.

Pretty average at best. I’ve tried the breakfast and lunch and really haven’t been that impressed especially at the higher price points. The location itself is really nice with a great patio.

Last night was my third visit and I was not disappointed! I tried the lobster bisque along with a salad & sandwich combo. All together I spent $ 11 on dinner and it was more than worth it! The bisque was creamy & delicious! The veggie sandwich and green salad were splendid! I met up with 4 girlfriends and they were also very satisfied with the dinner selections.

Like this place… no frills, reasonable, quick, and tasty. Had the Caesar and the currant black tea. 10 bucks. Delicious. Wide and varied menu. Go!

«Meh» pretty much says it all. I stopped in for breakfast mainly out of convenience with the Mockingbird Station location. We ordered breakfast tacos and the Greek tart. I wasn’t a fan of the meat in the sausage tacos, but the bacon tacos were a bit better. Still — it was nothing special, I could have very easily made the exact same meal at home with ingredients from Albertsons. The Greek tart was an interesting concept, and we enjoyed the eggs with olives, artichokes, and pesto, but found the tart dough oddly sweet. We scooped out the scrambled eggs and left the tart shell on the plate. The coffee was average. Would I go back? Probably not. Definitely not for breakfast, maybe for a quick salad if I’m shopping at Mockingbird and need something convenient.

I’ve been coming to café express since 2014. I always enjoy their soup selection and great choice for burgers. Give this restaurant a try. This is one of the few chain restaurants where food has an authentic flavor.

Yeah, cool place. Food was good and man I loved that salad. The noise level was a bit high, but it was lunch and crowded.,

While I think Café Express has a pretty extensive menu, my recent trip was nothing to rave about. I ordered the Grilled Chicken salad but wasn’t impressed. Aside from the large serving, the chicken had a fishy taste to it. There was a freshness missing from the salad. The food comes out pretty quickly though so that’s a plus. The reason I rate this place 3 instead of 2 is because I have had their pastas before, which taste much better. So if anything, I would stick to their warmer entrees and save the healthier options for another place!

I really enjoy the choices they have at this restaurant, I usually have the roasted chicken but the dipping sauce is nearly 100 pure grease, heart attack level. Always good atmosphere.

I particularly enjoy these kinds of places. The menu is diverse enough to meet a wide array of tastes and maintain high quality food at its price point. This time, I ordered from the Spicy Italian Sausage and Pasta. I wasn’t very impressed with the pasta itself, but the meat and sauce tasted much better than expected. I also liked the garnishment and presentation. Best of all, the entrée was ready with minutes. If this meal is any indication, I assume the rest of the food is just as good. If you’re looking for a quick bite to eat and have a disdain for fast food, this place will do.

Went for breakfast. Not sure how they are in business. No customers at 9 a.m. The reason for a two star rating is solely because of the staff. They were very nice and helpful. But the food was awful. Cold scrambled eggs. Potatoes were done without veggies so they did them on the spot and they were slightly warm. Nice looking place with a great staff has potential but fell short.

Our office is right next to Café Express, so needless to say we eat here pretty regularly. It has a good menu with different options ranging from salads to burgers to pasta entrees. I’m partial to their potato soup. They have a vegetable tart that’s quite good, too. We’ve gotten their hummus/queso party tray and cookie/brownie trays for our meetings and they’re always a hit.

This place is always packed with people, and I really don’t understand how! Every time I eat here(I work in Mockingbird station and have given it many chances to redeem itself due to the convenient location) I end up feeling sick to my stomach. The staff is friendly and accommodating, but their food is over priced and always leaves me with a gross taste in my mouth, both literally and figuratively. I have tried their pasta, a couple sandwiches, soups and salads, and none of it is great. Why people are so obsessed with this place I will never know.

I’m FINALLY home… after 96 hours in the hospital. Including: 12 hours of straight vomitting, 30+ IV Drips, dangerously low blood pressure of 83/60, an abnormal blood platelet count(the food poisoning literally effected my bone marrow) and countless antibiotics. Seriously…Don’t go to Café Express. Doctor told me he’s never seen such a bad case of food poisoning in his life, and all the nurses asked where I ate so they can never go there…

I’ve been eating at Café Express since I lived in Houston years ago. It’s another one of my ‘neglected orphans’; i.e., places I frequented before Unilocaling and therefore forget to check-in or review. In fact, I’ve been a fan of Café Express for so long that I remember when their very popular DreamBars were originally called DonnaBonna DreamBars for my friend Donna Bonnadio who was a pastry chef at the first location in Houston and introduced her mother’s recipe to the restaurant in 1984… now that’s forgotten history that I felt the need to share in honor of my good friend! So time for me to finally review Café Express… this is a consistently good, solid food place with a relaxed environment. Every meal will please you here: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Except for a few seasonal items(the mouthwatering incredibly rich lobster roll; PLEASEPLEASEBRINGTHATBACK!) I tend to order the Veggie Chef so I can load it with my favorite toppings at the awesome condiment bar and grab a couple of packs of the yummy bread sticks to eat with it. In my carnivore days, the burgers would call my name at least monthly. Recently, I tried the Southwest Burger subbing the meat with the veggie pattie; good but, the pattie was a bit to dry to take away my longing for those days of the medium rare juiciness you can still get there. Breakfast is often the Mediterranean or Florentine Scramble; without the turkey, of course. The WARMBREADPUDDING with VANILLASAUCE is what earns the 5th Star here; it is my greatest delight and yes, DonnaBonna knows that I favor this dessert over her DreamBars :-) It’s one of the best ‘modern’ bread puddings. I use the term ‘modern’ because although it’s made of bread, milk, eggs, etc. it doesn’t look like the traditional bread pudding. It’s blended so smooth that the bread is indiscernible; then baked in a bundt form. But nonetheless, it’s delicious; of good texture(not too heavy, too firm or too soft) and balanced flavor; not overly sweet. The vanilla sauce is also a perfect compliment to this pudding. Sometimes I stop by just to indulge; ordering nothing else! FORMOREBREADPUDDINGREVIEWS…

Food is fresh and good, but nothing about this chain really stands out. The portions are small in comparison to other local cafes, but then again the portions are perfect for a business lunch. It hopefully won’t put you in a food coma state. The price is definitely quite high for a café chain. The salads are very fresh and their toppings bar is a nice touch. There is plenty of room for a large crowd inside and outside for an uptown area. I’d only come here if it was for a meeting over lunch in uptown.

I hope this place does better at lunch, because it is empty at dinner time and I really like it. I started going to Café Express years ago. Way back then, my favorite salad in all of Dallas was CE’s tuna nicoise, but they took it off the menu a while back and until recently, I’ve boycotted in protest… which I’m realizing was kind of like cutting off my nose to spite my face because there are other great options on the menu and it is one of those rare places where everyone in the family can find something to be happy about. Highlights: The relish bar is the bomb. Bread sticks, roasted garlic, capers and olives are enough reason to come to CE. Chicken soup is souper good and it really tastes homemade! A wide variety of salads, all i’ve tasted are excellent The iced tea is AMAZING! Where they can be better: The hamburger patty had that mass-produced shape and overly smoked taste. Fresh meat would make a world of difference. Oh, and they could bring the tuna nicoise salad back. That would make me happy.

I really like Café Express. It’s good for meeting up with friends, grabbing a well-prepared meal(not your typical chain food) and if you feel like it, a glass of wine. What could be better — because there is so much space and they encourage you to linger, I’d love more power outlets and wifi. The placement of the menu boards can be difficult to read and make decisions before you reach the register. Those small things aside, it’s a nice place. The veggie sandwich is amazing!
