I am addicted to fresh roasted coffee beans and was fortunate to discover this shop on Unilocal. It’s a tiny little shop in the Lakewood area and they had me when the first thing I see when walking in the door is a man roasting coffee beans! They asked me about my coffee preferences and recommended an organic Peruvian bean… holy moly, it was still warm from being roasted! The price was reasonable too. The shop also has produce fresh from the farmers market and locally made chocolates.

This is an adorable place, which I have been noticing without visiting for about 15 years. After eating a heavenly bagel at Benny’s across the street, we popped over to check out Coffee Company. Walking up to and through the door felt like coming home. Perfect tomatoes, from cherry to beefsteak, were displayed in the entryway. A five year old girl was playing with the contents of a huge bag of raw coffee, a small range of fresh produce was displayed on the walls, a small cooler held a decent array of liquids you’d put in your frig, fresh truffles and boxes of Godiva chocolate are displayed in a case that forms the end of the counter. The young girl’s father was behind the counter, being friendly and helpful, and grandpa was roasting those raw coffee beans to a rich shiny dark brown in an old school roaster, Colombian French Roast, wafting the scent of heaven. If I lived within a few blocks, I would walk here for at least 50% of my home consumables, and feel very grateful for a place so close that provided so many simple pleasures, so gracefully. HIghly recommended for perfect coffee and tomatoes primarily– go check it out if you’ve not yet had the pleasure.

For consumers, the Coffee Company’s biggest assets are its elegant roaster and wide selection of whole bean coffees and teas. My recommendation is you talk to who’s behind the counter about how you intend to use your coffee beans(espresso, cup, etc.) and ask what’s been roasted that day for best results. My biggest critique about this store is for a business named the Coffee Company, it loses focus on the coffee. Too much floor space is utilized for non-coffee/tea related groceries and tchotchkes.(I’m not sure if they even sell unroatsted beans retail, which seems to be trending.) Second to that are its narrow open for business windows. Third, I have not see milk or cream in those chillers, what some may consider essentials. My recommendation to this business is they focus on the coffee. Adjust the product line in aiding the at-home barista with the eternal quest of making the perfect cup of joe. If it does not do or complement that, then its a distraction. In all, the Coffee Company is a good place that I thoroughly enjoy. I would enjoy it more and call it a great place if it focused more on its main attraction.

A small specialty shop, tucked behind a dry cleaners on a side street, Coffee Company is tiny grocery and craft coffee roaster. The shop is so small you can barely turn around in it, and there is a single shelf and cold case for specialty jams and crackers. A little produce. The appeal of the shop is the wide selection of freshly roasted, specialty coffees. They have some rich teas by the pound, also. It is a tiny specialty shop of the sort that can only exist in a city with a population of real coffee lovers. Quaint. Exquisite.

I really wouldn’t give this place any stars!!! I would never shop at this place. The guy is so rude! I parked in front of the store on the public street to go to the business next door. It was the only parking spot around and he came out and told me I had to move my car. He kept walking around my car then stood by my drivers window and stood there telling me he could stand there because it was a public street too! I had to call the police on him because he kept yelling at me that his customers need to park there! I don’t know if it was a racial thing or he is rude to everyone!

Tried a south american coffee, not good. Says roasted daily, but I dont think that means the beans you just bought were roasted that day. Beans not dense, roast was too dark, very earthy taste despite aeropressing. Definitely not bright at all. No real info on the beans themselves posted in an obvious place, so its pretty much a crap shoot on what to expect in terms of flavor. Not really better than starbucks beans, which are also pretty much universally burnt. Maybe ill try another bean, but why bother when I can get details, roast dates, etc from online vendors.

Reminds me why I love the Lakewood area… Laid back people, doing great coffee service. And I also love that they roast the coffee themselves in the shop. They had tons of options, including flavored decaf. They also had some local odds and ends, honey, preserves, chocolate, etc.

Cool spot if you need some freshly roasted beans! Coffee Co. offers dozens of different roasts, including flavored coffee(if that’s your thing.) I love that they have a few different organic options. Today I bought a ½ lb. of the Organic Peru($ 7) and it smells delicious! Coffee Co. does sell some produce, which is neat if you forgot to grab an onion or mushrooms or something for dinner. But it is not«farmer’s market» produce– you’ll see the sticker and know that for sure! There are a few organic packaged items. He does have pretty-looking tomatoes, but know that they’re from Tennessee. I like that they sell little gifts and some local jams and pickles from In A Pickle out of Ft. Worth. And a note about opening– like another reviewer mentioned, the opening time isn’t quite set in stone. Arrive at 10:30 just to be safe– especially if you’re going in to try a cup of coffee.

As a coffee fanatic new to the neighborhood, I was enormously excited to hear about a local coffee roaster. Unfortunately, when I arrived this morning at the posted opening time of 10:00AM, I was met with a curmudgeon of a shopkeeper who turned me away with a derisive sneer and closed the door in my face! I can understand if you need a few minutes to get ready to open, but there was no need to be so rude about it. On paper it doesn’t sound so bad, but the combination of tone, facial expression, and body language made me feel very unwelcome. I ended up being too soured by the experience to want to wait around however long it was going to take to actually open. Maybe they do make great coffee here, but sadly for me, I’ll probably never know.

I just wanted to jump in and add my .02¢ to the well-deserved accolades of this coffee shop. Very friendly staff. They also have hard to find, reasonably priced Chemex filters for my antique Chemex coffee pot. I have a Starbucks within walking distance but I’d rather drive across town and buy my beans freshly roasted from a local purveyor, they’re that good.

Great coffee! They roast it here! good tea too. And Gus who works here is a really nice guy. You can buy it here buy the pound or half pound and you can buy a cup of coffee for a buck. It has been around for over 30 years I think.

What an adorable little place! I never knew it existed since you cant see it from the main strip, but we parked next to it while going to Benny’s and popped in after. Fresh roasted coffee beans with TONS of flavors, fancy cookies, cheese straws, jellies, dip mixes, Godiva chocolates… all for making and creating amazing gift baskets. They also have fresh produce from the Farmers Market in case you need to pick up some apples or lettuce. Overall, adorable shop… but they have weird hours, so don’t try to go in the morning for a cup of coffee unless it is after 10am.

We just finished our lunch at Bangkok Inn, which is located on Oram. When I got out, I could smell the sweet aroma of coffee being roasted and asked around. Fast forward 2 minutes and I was in front of the store and could see the massive Dietrich roaster sitting by the window. I think the owner just got done roasting another batch of Colombian. I ended up buying 0.5 pound of Costa Rican beans and enjoyed it very much. It was smooth and full-bodies. Their price is lower than Dunn’s Brothers, but the quality is not too far behind. If you like freshly-roasted coffee, I highly recommend this store.

So you say you want you some fresh roasted coffee beans in Lakewood? Well! Just get your cute little hiney to Coffee Company. It’s a little closet of a shop that has a huge coffee roaster in the window and they sell lots of different roasted beans, chocolates(mostly Godiva prepackaged) and a big refrigerator case with fresh fruits and vegetables. We got a ½ pound of what was just finishing being roasted(french roast, $ 6.95 a ½ pound) and a couple of cups of coffee to go. Very tasty! The two offerings brewed up were«french roast» and«motor oil». Teehee. Motor Oil was goood and I felt awfully chatty for the rest of the afternoon. The store itself isn’t some slick, new joint. You can tell they’ve been around for years and years. But that means they’re awesome at what they’re doing. Having fresh roasted beans right at our fingertips is awesome. Buying coffee beans at Coffee Company is now added to our Saturday morning errand list!

I don’t have much to add to the three reviews here– the farmer’s market produce, the roastiness(one of the only two places in Dallas that roasts their own beans, I did learn that!), the random packaged food and chocolate, the super nice owners– y’all got that covered! Coffee Co. is tucked away on a side street, so even though I’d driven by it on Skillman a million times, i didn’t really take note of it until I was on foot; but don’t make that mistake! Check this place out, either for a cuppa or a bag of coffee, ground specifically as your filter at home requires!

This is a pretty nifty place. They sell coffee, no drinks like the starbucks around the corner but instead they sell beans. Usually there’s two pots of coffee out for those who like to grab a cup and go or just want to taste something; the jar says«Just a Buck for the best coffee in Dallas» and I can’t argue with that. They roast their own beans and if you ever come in when Danny, one of the owners, is roasting you get to smell it. Yumm, until he puts them in the cooling part then the place fills up with smoke for a few minutes. Other than coffee there is also tea that is sold by the quarter pound. It’s pretty good and around the holidays they’ll sell bagged teas like what you see at the store. Produce. The produce is pretty great, everything comes from the Farmer’s Market and is stocked at least twice a week. Sometimes they get unusual fruits, like this week they have figs! All the produce looks very fresh. This place is good if you just need a few things and don’t want to go all the way to the store. They also have chocolates, Godiva and Sweet Shoppe(homemade from Ft. Worth or something.) And little gift items such as mixes, cups, measuring spoons, ect. It’s a really nice place and the owners are very nice. The people who come in as regulars are like family.

This is really a cute little coffee roasting place. The people are always friendly, their selection of coffee is highly unusual, and as Nickie mentioned, they roast their own coffee there daily. It’s a lovely scent too if you go by when they’re doing it. The place is small and located behind a local Cleaner’s but it’s worth a shot if you live in the neighborhood. Since they do roast their own coffee, the prices are a little steep, but my fiancé tells me that the coffee is wonderful and he and his coworker go there at least once a week to get a new flavor. They offer a fascinating selection of caffeinated and non-caffeinated teas, but be careful when you open them to smell them. I whipped open the peppermint one and the scent burned my nose(obviously hadn’t been opened by anyone else recently!). They also sell fresh produce and the last time I went they had fresh strawberries out for tasting, and they were wonderful! Oddly enough, some of their organic produce is a little cheaper than at the local market. Oh, and did I mention the Godiva!!! They have a case in the front dedicated to Godiva and other chocolate. Tell me that’s not a pull in and of itself, I dare ya! It’s true, this is not a coffee bar, you buy then take home to enjoy, but it’s an experience that everyone should have at least once. Plus, if you really want that coffee drink, you can walk across the street and get a bagel and a coffee at Benny’s Bagels(after you purchase some freshly roasted coffee beans of course!).

Wandered into the Coffee Co after lunch just to look around. Quite the interesting little place. They were roasting coffee beans right there in the store. They also seemed to have a good selection of teas you could buy as well. I didn’t see coffee that you could order to drink, it seemed like you just buy it in bulk to take home and enjoy. They also had a cool selection of local jams, syrups, gift type items. AND randomly they also had fresh fruits and vegetables you could buy also. I give it four stars for the uniqueness and the closeness to my house. Oh and for those of you that know me, I looked but there was NOALCOHOL here… damn shame. haha
