A bit of a disappointment after coming here based off other Unilocal reviews. I love a good coffee shop and prefer them over your typical run-of-the-mill Starbucks. Came here late on a Friday evening for a late night study session. It was nice and quiet, but the Americano I ordered was just… well it didn’t taste great. It tasted like some old brewed coffee that had been sitting in the pot for too long and had some water added to it. The staff was nice and friendly but the place was a little dirty and just looked like things needed to be tidied a bit better. In general, it’s a cute little place but I will be trying out a different place the next time I’m in Dallas.

Very personable staff. I like the feel of the place. It felt like a house transformed into a coffee shop. Nothing of a fancy décor inside but for me it reminded me of being up North. The ambience isn’t there if you’re looking for that. If your looking to have a coffee and meet some new people it serves it purpose

This is a true coffee«house». A house that has been transformed into a coffee shop — and a good one at that! The feel is a little thrown together for my taste, but it was slammed, the cortado I ordered was great, & you can’t really beat the location.

The family and I stopped here for coffee. Very cute, renovated house in a wonderful location. It took a few minutes of waiting for some seats to become available for our group of five, but once we were all seated, it was easy going and relaxing. Looked like lots of work, homework, or otherwise, going on around us! While their selection of coffees is slim compared to a corporate giant like Starbucks, the flavor of their coffee is amazing and sourced locally from Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters. All-in-all, we were quite happy we took a chance and tried a new place!

Wonderful place in uptown! Live music, nice coffee, cozy and clean sofa, reserved parking, wifi, free water, books, newspapers, everything’s perfect. People here are super nice. It’s like visiting a friend’s place. Definitely should come here often.

Great coffee from Oak Cliff roasters, and nice pastries too. Old home type setting. Lots of young folks with laptops hanging out.

Too cute! I love imagining what this place would have looked like when it was a house, pre– coffee shop days. There are two big pros. The first is their hours– any good places to study that are open late(this place is generally open until 11pm or midnight, except on Sunday evenings, but 9pm is still pretty good) gets major points with me. It can be tough to keep up a good study streak when other coffee shops close so early. They also have a ton of seating. There are tables and chairs for those studying, some smaller tables, perfect for lunch, and some totally cute couches that make you feel like you’re in your college friend’s living room. They also have free wifi. They have some good snacks(the usual pastries) and on Saturday morning I saw a breakfast taco list. Their latte prices are okay, but 3.50 for tea stung a bit. Overall, this was a nice place to study or meet a small group, and I was digging the music they were playing the background. I have the feeling I’ll be back, quite a few more times.

It’s ok. I support local coffee houses as opposed to Starbucks and I think that crooked tree’s house setting is so adorable. However, I was not impressed with the drinks and the espresso beans that were used. It’s also very crowded, so plan on getting your drink to-go, especially on a weekend. I have ordered regular lattes as well as with added syrup. The milk tasted burnt and the espresso was not too strong and had a nutty flavor to it that overall detracted. For 5 dollars a pop, I was expecting more. I also thought the baristas were not that helpful in helping me select something. I told them that it was my first time there and what their specialty was and was told«everything,» so I felt left to my own devices. :(

This place is amazing, yet crazy weird given its location. It’s literally a house, turned into a coffee shop. I see that all the time in Austin, but never in Dallas! Super quaint, and their drip coffee is some of the best in central Dallas, hands down. Great customer service, free 1st refill on drip coffee, free fast wifi, comfy couches and tables with eccentric but well done décor.

Best coffee house in the Dallas area. Has a very funky Uptown appeal and is also quite down to earth and comfortable in a low key sort of way. The coffees here are superior in quality and created with care. Scones baked on site as well as their cinnamon rolls… So it can feel(and smell) like you are walking into your mothers kitchen after a long trip… Come treat yourself!

They still make a good cup of coffee. However, this place was more crowded the second time, and with less seating options, I realized that this isn’t as comfortable as I originally thought it to be(my favorite seat was taken, and two others were taken, and the others were quite not that comfortable). Additionally, outside seating is limited to the thin back patio that is set up in an awkward manner, with literally no lights at night. There’s one table out by the front which is a better option. Also some tables are wood, and others are vinyl tops. Makes for a weird feeling, and it doesn’t really blend to give off a homey vibe. And additionally, it some reason it smells like there’s a cat inside. Or something. Strange. Because of the ambience not being as well kept as it could have been, I have to dock off a star. Service is still great though.

I was visiting Dallas for a wedding and before the wedding festivities, the manchild and I decided to walk a little ways down from where we were staying and stop by for a drink somewhere. We started walking to a bar, but before the bar, the entire time I had been craving coffee(keep in mind we had been driving forever from Houston and I needed to wake up before all the fun ahead of us.) We walked through this neighborhood in Uptown and turns out, one of these houses is actually a coffee shop. We walk in and its like walking into your own cozy living room — super quiet and welcoming. There were maybe five people at most(quietly sipping/working/reading/swiping.) Every seating arrangement was unique and cute; there was a sofa, poofs(I think that’s what they’re called — kinda like an adult bean-bag, idk), big tables, small tables. We sat at this tiny colorful table, almost felt like I was at a tiny tea party table(even the wooden chairs were cute and tiny, OK maybe not super tiny, but they were short chairs.) I ordered a Vanilla Latte without waiting in any line. There were two baristas: one did the transaction over an iPad for me while the other took care of the coffee. My coffee was ready in about five minutes and while I was waiting I saw that they had cookies, brownies and other snack bars(vegan and gluten-free) alongside their front counter, small munch-y items. The latte — deelishuuusss. The latte art — gorg I would definitely come here again if I had more time. Next time, I’ll have to try the cold brew! Perfect pick-me-up and then off to the bar we went!

I stumbled upon Crooked Tree a mere two days after I moved to Texas from the east coast and I could not be happier to have found such a gem so soon! The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming; a great place to be without trying to hard to be cool or hip. I’ve never felt out of place! The art on the walls changes every once in a while, as the shop features different local artists work. I love Crooked Tree’s investment in the arts and the local community! The coffee is top notch, roasted and provided by a local roaster who maintains excellent relationship with their grower! I haven’t tried any of their food, as I am gluten intolerant, but, I recall correctly, it is mostly from local bakeries and shops and it always looks delicious. And, last but not least, the baristas. They are charming! Every time I have gone(I won’t admit how often in the short amount of time I’ve lived here), the baristas are friendly and offer knowledgeable suggestions about different drinks. With all of this and it being only a few blocks between my apartment and Crooked Tree, I will definitely be back. Likely later this week ;)

Ehhh… I wanted to like this place. But the parking was TERRIBLE. The space inside was small and pretentious. There weren’t any cozy nooks to chat in(this is what I was looking for). My blackberry Italian soda had too much ice and not enough syrup. My cookie was really good, though! Not gonna return :/

I really enjoyed my time at Crooked Tree Coffeehouse this afternoon. This has been on my radar for awhile now, and I was glad that I finally was able to stop by. I met a friend here at 4:30 this afternoon and encountered good old Dallas Traffic. Coming upon this little coffee shop, I was surprised to find only a handful of parking spaces — all which were unavailable. We found a cozy spot in the back of the coffee shop. She ordered an Italian soda and I choose the plain Jane iced coffee. Except, lucky for me, there was nothing plain Jane about it. The barista explained that they use a cold brew system that lasts over sixteen hours. When I asked for half and half, he told me to at least try it black. After taking a few sips, I agreed with him and walked past the cream and sugar station to enjoy my beverage. This was one of the smoothest cold brew iced coffee I have had. I would definitely recommend this little coffee shop to avid coffee connoisseurs. Make sure to prepare for limited parking and downtown/uptown traffic.

Okay, I get it. Crooked Tree, you’re adorable. No one is going to argue that a repurposed house-turned-coffeeshop is a great idea, because it is. I’m also not going to complain about the table seating or the couch seating or the plethora of outlets throughout the house; it makes you feel oh so inviting and I want to curl up with a good book in here. But Crooked Tree, why do you command such an outrageous price for a hazelnut soy latte? Your price($ 6.25) is just a quarter shy of a Chipotle chicken burrito, and that’s way more filling than that cute little cup. I mean, I get it. Your basic latte is $ 4.25(reasonable), and admittedly, it’s a pretty good latte(smooth yet sweet, but not overwhelmingly so, and a good froth on top) with decent latte art if you’re into that sort of thing, but $ 1 for hazelnut and another $ 1 for soy milk? This is getting out of hand.(–1 star) Also, you’re so cute that you think you can make people work for it? Your parking is limited at its best(4 – 5 dedicated parking spots next to the house), atrocious at its worst(expect to park a few blocks away with time restrictions on the street).(–1 star) Don’t get me wrong — your latte was delicious, but I don’t think I can handle your price tag(at least sustainably) or your lack of parking. Trust me when I say it’s not you, it’s me.(Okay, maybe it’s a little bit of you)

Cute coffee shop located in downtown Dallas. It looks like a house so it might be hard to find but they do have a small«Crooked Tree» sign in the front. There’s street parking available so make sure you can snag a spot if it’s open. The hazelnut latte was great, smooth and just the right amount of sweetness. They have a very relaxed atmosphere with good background music. I’d come back if I was in the area. They also sell Crooked Tree Tea shirts and coffee mugs as well as some local paper bead artist jewelry.

Disappointing would be an understatement, which is so hard for me to say because I was really excited about this Crooked Tree and wanted to love it. My issue is mainly with the service. There is clearly some type of miscommunication between those working behind the counter because after I specifically stated we would be enjoying our coffee at Crooked Tree, we were given everything in to go baggies and to go cups. When I explained that I would like some plates I was faced with blank stares and no apologies. Secondly, the food was average. We ordered a breakfast wich, banana bread, and the original bagel. I have to say I was surprised they didn’t even put cream cheese on the bagel for me. In addition to this, they charged me 50 cents for a small amount of cream cheese which was only enough for half the bagel. When I went up to ask for more, low and behold they charged me another 50 cents. I did think the banana bread was good though. The furniture was very old & looked as if it was from the 60s or 70s. I felt kind of gross/dirty sitting in there to be honest. The couches & chairs looked as if they had been sitting in a garage for a few decades. There was an on obvious lack of effort in putting together the décor. I do want to say that I did enjoy the art painted by Nancy Loehr.
