Not a bad buffet. Usual American Chinese fare with some sushi, mostly centered around chicken. Almost all the meat dishes were some chicken variation. most of it was good. Place could use a good scrub down. The carpets are nasty, prob a professional shampoo every 3 months would help this! Pay before you eat, which is different but this is Oakcliff. I noticed this Place has the usual Latin families with parents sitting around for hours on their cell phones while their kids rampage around the place. May be a good idea to charge by the hour. lol. If you are not done in an hour you have to pay another 5 $.

Love this place. I’m really picky about Chinese food and this place meets my standards. plus it’s SUPER cheap for a dinner buffet.

Best I’ve had around here. And then the price is super cheap so that’s a extra star. Food is really good, proper temp, good flavor. I didn’t taste any spicy but I’m from Southern Louisiana so my spicy radar doesn’t go off unless it’s a bit up there. It was very well seasoned though and flavorful. Again, not sure why it was rated $$$$ on the price. It is not at all.

So… went here sheerly out of convenience & against my Unilocal sense… the positive is that I can further confirm the rating here. As apparent it is average at best. I would give it a 2 star for the quality of food but am giving it a 3 star because the place was relatively organized & the staff polite(albeit reserved). It’s a pretty standard Chinese buffet menu except the food was not warm enough so it tasted worse than maybe if it was kept warmer. Alas, I shall never no. #onetimerrestaurant #Airwolf

Our favorite Chinese food! I really don’t get some of the other reviews about this place. My family and I have gone here at least 20 times and it’s always consistently great. Always seated immediately, great selection of seafood and sushi(which is always fresh). Friendly staff.

This place is decent. I went in around 2:00 on a Monday afternoon, and they were still doing a pretty brisk business. Maybe because the kids are out of school, but either way, the food was stocked, hot and fresh. However, it was pretty standard Chinese buffet fare and nothing really stood out for me, except the honey chicken and the crab rangoons. The rangoons had a nice buttery flavor that I enjoyed. This is a place I’d go back to occasionally if it were closer. But as it is, I have to drive right through the middle of downtown Dallas to get there, and there’s nothing there worth that drive!

Typical mass-market Chinese buffet, or as my friend calls them, «1000 ways to cook a chicken». Hit or miss in quality. Filthy parking lot, and sticky tables. Food was fair at best. Won’t return.

It was a Sunday night after my workout and I was craving some cheap Chinese food and protein for the gains. So I thought, why not a Chinese buffet? Plus, they had a ton of parking and for a Chinese buffet, it was surprisingly CLEAN. Here is where I dive in: I did not expect to pay before eating, but that was exactly what happened. So my company and I paid and proceeded to the buffet station. The place is organized into a few stations: sushi, Panda Express-styled Chinese food, cold seafood, condiments, and dessert. The FOOD: Sushi: The sushi was typical buffet-grade sushi; either a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered or a one way trip to the nearest emergency room. I went for the unagi(eel) roll and loved it. There were seaweed rolls, California rolls, shrimp nigiri, and other items paired with wasabi & ginger. Chinese Food: You’ll be impressed with how many dishes include broccoli. This place is trying to make Texans eat their veggies. They have a great selection of dishes including beef broccoli, chicken broccoli, orange/sesame chicken, red glazed pork rib, shrimp, spicy chicken, chow mein, and many other items. Impressed with their spread, but most of their dishes lacked flavor(–1 star) and/or looked old(–1 star). Cold Seafood: Part of my motivation to come here was for the raw oysters. 2 hours before closing, there wasn’t an oyster in site. Had to settle with the bland boiled shrimp and frozen mussels(–1 star). Once again, if you’re expecting raw oysters(especially since it’s their thumbnail picture on Unilocal), you might be crushed. Dessert: Fresh watermelon and honeydew melon really balanced out the saltiness of the Chinese food. Probably one of my favorite parts of the buffet(you can tell where this is going). They also had a soft serve machine on site. The Verdict: Cheap and decent place to fulfill the Chinese food craving. Food was more or less lacked flavor and/or looked old, so you may want to come at the start of each lunch or dinner. Fresh fruit and sushi look like delicacies here. If you want typical Panda Express fair, look no more, Crown Buffet.

Tastes better than the average Chinese buffet for the most part but has very few dishes to choose from and doesn’t carry some of the more common ones.

This place has an amazing policy of pay when you enter. This is probably because no one would pay any money for the«food» they are about to eat. The standard chinese items are ok, i guess. But everything is bland and flavorless. Like they opened some freezer bags from kroger and just microwaved it all. I was very disappointed in the food quality. Will not be back.

I’m almost embarrassed that I’m reviewing this place but we were hungry and didn’t want to leave Oak Cliff for dinner. We knew better but went anyway and had exactly the meal that we suspected. The restaurant is not clean. It isn’t filthy but the booths had food all wedged in them and the condiment bottles all has dried crap around the tops. This is cheap Chinese food served in a buffet, nothing more. The meat is pretty much all tough and many of the entrees are fried and greasy. The soups had very little flavor, as did many of the entrees. Please don’t come here expecting anything more than a dirty Chinese buffet in Oak Cliff.

This is the best Chinese buffet restaurant ever. First, I ate the sushi, then I ate the wonton soup with baby octopi, and the orange chicken. Best food ever.

I’m not a snob about Chinese buffets, so I didn’t go in with crazy high standards. This was my third visit, and each one has been more«bleh» than the one before. The chicken is almost all dark meat/unrecognizable random chicken parts, almost all with brown sauce that tastes the same from dish to dish. The veggies are soggy. Everything is bathing in oil and grease. There were dark food stains on the sugar packets. The egg drop soup and crab rangoon were decent, but even they were filmy with oil. Not going back again.

Let me preface this review by saying that I am not a fan of Chinese buffets. This is actually the first I’ve eaten at one in the past 10+ years. Service here is very good. It seems to be a well run restaurant with friendly employees. Given the location and low price it should come as no surprise that the customers skewed towards the lower class but nobody was out of line or anything like that. The food is very typical of a Chinese buffet(with a few American items mixed in). There were a LOT of chicken dishes and only 1 beef dish that I saw(beef and broccoli). I had a little bit of most everything and one chicken dish was cold but the rest were still heated satisfactorily(this is at 12:45pm lunch). I do not eat seafood so I can’t comment on that. I’m a big Lo Mein fan and wasn’t digging the lo mein here. I was super excited to see plantains here albeit I’d rather they were less greasy and without the added sugar. In summation, this is a buffet. If you live in the area and enjoy Chinese buffets then you should check this place out. If you aren’t fans of Chinese buffets then don’t expect this place to change your mind.

It’s pretty clean. In a rating of ONLY Chinese Buffets, I’d rate it a 4 out of 5 for Chinese Buffets. Hot, clean, veggies in the dishes were fresh. There really isn’t a ‘king’ of Chinese Buffet’s in the Dallas city limits. It competes with Mei Mei Buffet. Overall, a step below The Grand Buffet(Irving), Golden Wok(Garland), Lin’s Asian Buffet(Carrollton), and Buffet King(Denton). Those would rank as my 5-Star Buffets(that’s 5 out of 5 for Buffet category, not all restaurants in General).

I love Chinese buffets but not all are equal to the task of satisfying this foodie! But alas, I think I have hit pay dirt with the Crown Buffet. They had all my favorites such as Wonton Soup and Teriyaki Chicken Skewers and plenty of them but I was surprised by one dish I have never seen anywhere else-Peppered Chicken made with big junks of jalapeño peppers! Most Peppered Chicken is done with black pepper and the flavor is harsh. But this dish had a bit of sweetness to it also. Very tasty! They have an abundance of seafood fare as well but I’m allergic so I steer clear! Luckily, I didn’t run into any cross contamination issues either because they keep alike foods grouped together. The dessert table is yummy and they also have an ice cream machine that swirls vanilla and chocolate! Couldn’t ask for a better buffet! They easily accommodate large groups as well and are a great value for the buck. I recommend this place for family or work gatherings. You won’t be disappointed!

They had all of the traditional Chinese buffet items including my all time favorite sugary biscuit things. It’s very average as far as decoration goes but the price is right at $ 8.49 for dinner. Can’t argue when I can buy decent food for under 10 bucks. One good quality about this place is that I saw them change out the food a few times while I was there(one dish at a time) and all of the food was hot. It’s kept clean and neat.

Best Chinese buffet I have experienced in Dallas since General China was new(years ago)! The parking lot is clean, safe and well-lighted. The restaurant is clean and well staffed. The food was fresh and delicious. I had the hot & sour soup and the egg drop soup. Both were yummy. Wide selection of traditional Chinese fare. The boiled, cold shrimp were fresh and well seasoned. All of the seafood was good. The sushi was not so fresh — but, to be fair, sushi does not hold up well on a buffet. There was a big offering of fresh fruits and desserts. And, of course, it could not be an American Chinese buffet without soft-serve ice cream, which was good. The dinner price was $ 8.49, without beverage, and worth every penny. I will go back.

So this is my first Unilocal review! But we had a good experience at Crown today so i wanted to share with all my Oak Cliff friends :) **This restaurant has taken over the old Luby’s location at hampton and ft worth ave. I have never liked the typical Asian buffet places around town, as the few we tried years ago were just gross greasy excuses for Chinese food. Today our Sunday lunch at Crown was a nice surprise. I am surprised someone felt the service was not good — -we told the greeter it was our first time in, and we were helped to our table /given our drinks and found our way to the food area easily. Then many times servers offered us and the other diners around us drink refills and cleared our plates saying it was fine to go get a new plate if we were still hungry. I enjoyed two servings of good hot and sour soup with fresh chopped scallions on top. We both very much liked the beef teriyaki, various sautéed Chinese chicken dishes with fresh bright green broccoli and some delicious al dente sautéed green beans. The sauteed shrimp dishes were very fresh and I went back twice for that. As far as the sushi goes — We both had california rolls and crab rolls just to be safe I may try the salmon sushi next time— it looked just fine. I was too full to even go for the egg rolls but they looked very good They have a nice fresh fruit selection, and many other dishes too numerous to mention We will make it a point to go back here soon. Our lunch on a Sunday for two with drinks was $ 20. The weekday lunch I believe is $ 6.95 Give it a chance guys! Thanks crown buffet for coming to oak cliff!
