New year, new eats. I found myself at Cyclone Anaya’s to have a quick work lunch. My first impression of the place was very good. Aesthetically the place is very well designed and has a clean, sharp, posh, overall upscale feel. Both inside and out gives the impression of a more upscale place than your average family dining, which I like a lot. We were promptly greeted by the hostess upon entry and seated immediately, despite the lunch rush seeming kind of heavy. The service was streamlined and professional, not too frequent or infrequent. The selection on the menu had a nice amount of variety while staying well within the food genre of upscale Mexican. First thing’s first — the salsa. It was okay. It tasted fresh(as opposed to some watered down condensed whatever from a can), served chilly, and was flavorful rather than hot. Pretty good if you prefer your salsa along that route, but will definitely a disappointment for those looking for the hot hot hot thrill. The queso was good — adequate, I would say. But of course when queso is concerned I can’t help but be underwhelmed as I have had the best queso in existence. Others, I’m sure, will be more than happy with this queso. As it was lunch I did a build-your-own combo with chicken sour cream enchiladas, a dish that I heavily judge all Mexican places by(hey, people do it with hamburgers, and pizzas, right? Plus Tacos didn’t seem appropriate). They were good, a perfect lunch size serving. I was thrilled that the sour cream sauce was made with real sour cream and possessed that wonderful creamy texture that I love so much. The only thing I would say for improvement is that the shredded chicken could have had more kick to it, maybe more spicy with the simmering process. As far as I’m concerned you need a little hot sharpness so that real sour cream doesn’t dairy-blah out the whole taste effect. Man, I hope that makes sense. Overall Cyclone Anaya’s is on the pricey side($ 9-$ 11 for a lunch dish) but definitely the price range I would expect for a restaurant that has invested so much into it’s décor and atmosphere. Once I get out of that poor college kid phase I’m sure those $$$ signs won’t shock me so much. I’m sure it’s not a surprise for the area. Long story short I will definitely return to Cyclone Anaya’s when I find myself with a little extra money and hankering for good food and good atmosphere. I am almost as intrigued by the rest of their menu as I am by their name, which provides endless rhetorical amusement for that nerdy English major inside of me. In the meantime, I would definitely recommend this place for people looking for good food with a nice atmosphere that’s a step above all those cookie-cutter, chili’s-esque eateries out there.

The queso with taco meat is DELICIOUS, the tortilla chips are light & freshly made, the margaritas with patron are good &STRONG; however, the entres are not so good. I’ve tried a couple different ones(don’t remember exactly what they were because I had been drinking the Margarita lol!) but I know I’ve had a couple with chicken & the chicken was kind of gray & looked more like pork o_O. My husband said the skirt steak was nice & tender but agrees that the entrees are really lacking. The cheese dip & margaritas are soo good though, we keep going back! The bowl size drink is $ 14 but it’s huge & they don’t skimp on the patron at this location… FYI, we went to the one on Oak Lawn & the margaritas were WEAK; there were spent $ 16 on 2 shots of patron to add to both of our drinks to get them to taste like the ones in Addison. Oh yeah, the tres leches & appetizers are good too. So…while the entrees leave much to be desired of a Mexican place, you’ve GOT to go & get the queso con taco meat, frozen patron margaritas, & just get an appetizer for your meal(the beef quesadillas are wonderful).

My girlfriend and I come here every now and then for dinner and its always great. The service is awesome, food is amazing and the atmosphere is very modern and relaxing. Sometimes the music gets a little on the loud side but it’s tolerable. I love any dish here that has chicken in it. Not sure what they do to the chicken, but it is the best chicken I’ve ever tasted at a Mexican restaurant. Full of flavor and very rarely dry. We came here today to try their new Brunch Buffet. We learned pretty quick that our favorite server is no longer here. However our server today, Jose, did a wonderful job and we will be requesting him next time we come. Though today was their first attempt at serving brunch, we thought they did a great job putting it together. Everything was nicely spaced out and not crowded together like at most places. And of course, the food was better than most buffet style brunches. Everything tasted very fresh. Overall I’d say we really enjoyed our experience here today and we will have to come back in the Sundays to come.

Beautiful inside. Booths are large and comfortable. Lists of margaritas offered, I had the perfect margarita with patron and it was $ 14 but worth it. Very tasty and I only needed one. Next we ordered the blue crab nachos. Deelicious. Our friends had the lobster enchiladas with which they were very happy with and I had the rellano pepper, and my boyfriend had carnitas. Overall very delicious. Reasonably priced. For 4 of us $ 130 before tip. Not the cheapest Mexican but it is gourmet ;)

Ugh, horrible. Poor service and overpriced Americanized«Mexican». Go across the street to Blue Mesa instead. Or even Taco Bell — lol. The waiter was downright insulting, the drinks poorly made and as previously mentioned, the food just doesn’t live up to the price point — not even close. El Fenix is also a great choice within walking distance.

One of the better Mexican restaurants in the Addison/Far North Dallas corridor. The meals are awesome. My favorite are the Crab Enchiladas, chunks of crab in flavorful sauce and rice. Then the Margaritas are yummy as well. Hit this place up for Happy Hour and get a spot on the patio on a nice Spring/Summer evening.

I always want to like this place more than I do. With it’s semi industrial décor and knock you over margaritas, Cyclone Anaya’s has promise. Why do I never feel fulfilled?! If you’re looking for a good buzz and great salsa, you can find it here at happy hour. And you’d BETTER come at happy hour, because the HOUSE margarita is $ 12 during regular hours. Even considering its large size, this mix made margarita is not super tasty on the rocks and certainly not worth the regular price.(But $ 6 at H.H. wins me over…*shrug*) Outside of salsa and drinking off the week you’ve had, everything else is pretty average. I’ve come several times with my husband or small groups of 3 or 4 and the service is fine. The food is usually lukewarm and tastes pretty okay. How many of us go out thinking, «Hmmm, I hope my night is extremely just okay?»

Really good salsa. They were out of Michelob Ultra and the sliders. Spinach enchiladas left a little to be desired. The white cheese cream sauce tasted like Ranch dressing and I was really disappointed with the lack of spinach inside the enchiladas. I kind of wanted corn tortillas and I think I got flour instead. The cilantro rice wasn’t very cilantro-y; it tasted more like Mexican rice. The black bean soup was pretty good. I’ve come here for a Unilocal party before and the food was delicious. I’ll definitely give it another whirl.

Cyclone Anaya’s is a frigid beeyotch. She’ll order a double top shelf drink and leave you on the porch without so much as a kiss on the cheek. She’s the Neiman Marcus princess who was really raised by a mechanic and a nail technician. Pretty, but she ain’t nuthin but a golddigger. We sauntered in here looking for a place to hold my coworker’s birthday dinner. I really like the décor: contemporary industrial art meets an orgy of wood stains topped with trendy light fixtures not unlike Houlihans(which was WAY packed compared to the 2 tables seated here… I smell foreshadowing). We sat down and were quickly wooed by their featured Hibiscus margarita, which I ordered and ended up with a Sangria with shards of Hibiscus flower in it. Would have been great had I been a rabbit, but choking on petals in your straw… not fun. We sampled a side order of guacamole, the duck empanadas and the chicken flautas. The food was good, but even I can’t justify paying $ 11 for a sangria, or $ 8 for a SIDEORDER of guac… and food is my splurge. I really don’t see this place lasting long. It’s too close to way better options, and it can’t survive on the lunch crowd alone. Get real, Anaya. And for the love of bunnies, keep your foliage out of my drink.

I was a regular for about a year then stopped going when the service declined and the food lost appeal after Jennifer and Chad left. HOWEVER, Something has shifted! I hosted a fourth brunch there on 10⁄23 and it was GREAT! Myself and my friends received excellent service from Raphael. Everyone was quite pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere. When I suggested I find a new place next month for a little variety, the group’s response was an overwhelming, «NO! We like it here!». O.K. Message Received! Cyclone Anayas, on Beltline, it is! Since then I’ve been back twice and have had the same fun and tasty experience while dining at the bar; 11⁄4 and 11⁄15. Carlos, Nacho, and Billy are FANTASTIC Bartenders and I am quite pleased, once again, with my renewed interest in my neighborhood hangout. Cheers! to those Margs.

We went here on the recommendation of Emily P. She’s right – those margaritas are fantastic but dangerous! I didn’t specify a size, and there was no drink menu given to us, and the server brought me the large margarita. It was great, and happy hour price was only $ 6. The salsa was fantastic – we ate at least three bowls, and they happily refilled it. My husband ordered the enchiladas, and after one bite, he looked at me and said, «Wow!» He’s never said«wow» at a Mexican food restaurant. I ordered a grilled chicken salad, and it was very delicious. We sat out on the patio, which was very relaxing and I enjoyed it much more than I think I would have enjoyed the interior, which I was surprised to see a couple of big screen TV’s in the dining room. I’m never a fan of the«sports bar» atmosphere, so was happy to be seated on the patio with the cool breeze, relaxation, and the gas-fired lamps surrounding us when the sun went down.

Ok, frozen margarita is dangerous… but in the good way. Yeah, this girl who doesn’t do anything that might injure her just said«dangerous…in the good way». I was not sober after drinking it(yes, I’m a lightweight, but still!)…good thing I had a DD! So on to the food: Chips and salsa, thin… crispy…light chips with very flavorful salsa. I’m pretty much an expert when it comes to chips and salsa, so… trust me. Queso has tomatoes and jalapenos in it and is tasty. I stuffed myself with chips and salsa and alcohol… so I went with the Fajita Salad. The beef fajita meat was plentiful… marinated…and perfectly cooked with a nice medium pinkness. Oh, and did I mention that our waiter was H-O-T? I didn’t? Well, he most definitely was. He looked like an ex-baseball player… and had politician-like good looks. Whew… the margarita made me almost bold enough to invite him back to my hotel room with me. Almost.

Gloria’s doesn’t allow shorts(on guys) after 9pm and there was a 40 minute wait, so we headed across the street to Cyclone Anaya’s. There was no wait and we were seated right away in a big, corner booth. I love the atmosphere in this place, the interior design really impresses me for some reason. Even the bathrooms are nice! I still don’t like the extra big tables, but that might be because I’m a small person. We started with taco meat queso, it was excellent! My friend Bailee is a queso connoisseur, she will tell you it’s her favorite food. She was wowed by the queso. I had lobster enchiladas for dinner, they were delicious. Sort of rich, but delicious. Overall, everyone was pleased with the food. Unfortunately, the service was bad. We started with one server, then got a new one. He never stayed at our table, he’d walk away before we were finished talking. We had to flag him down several times, too. I swear we weren’t even being that demanding high-maintenance table. No clue what his problem was.

Went for a Saturday night dinner with husband. Ambiance is good with nice modern art pieces. Though a little pricey, this place has quality food and great service. Tried the chili relleno — not spicy at all which was surprising but flavorful, chicken well done and I found the rice very moist for a change. Hubby got the ‘Alambre Al Carbon’ which had grilled shrimp, beef and chicken. The grilled meats along with the veggies were so tender, juicy and flavorful. I could not pass up on the monthly drink — cucumber coriander margarita. It was pretty strong and the flavors of cucumber and coriander really complemented each other with chili powder on the rim.

I rolled in starving on a weekday night, not realizing that they closed only 30 minutes after I sat down. As soon as I realized the time, I apologized but the bartender just smiled and did not seem bothered one bit. That takes some serious passion for your job… I remember doing the exact opposite as a server years ago! I ordered the chicken fajita salad, which came with a tangy lime/cilantro dressing. The chicken was grilled perfectly with a nice fajita marinade, and all ingredients were super fresh and crisp. My margarita was a bit too much for me(gasp!), but that’s their signature deal, so I chalked it up to me being a wuss. Thanks to the kind bartender and talented chefs. Some may say it’s a tad pricey, but I think they follow through with unique dishes with fresh ingredients and way-above-average atmosphere. And bonus… there’s plenty of parking, so no need to valet! Yay!

This was an awesome place(only because I saw gorgeous a group of Texan girls here and that was the first ever since I moved). Food was mediocre though and so was their service. We initially planned on going elsewhere but the other place had a long ass line so ended up coming here instead. Should have known based on lack of waiting that this probably isn’t the right place to come but for a big group(10), we didn’t want to take a chance anywhere else. Anyway, I would totally come here again. Who cares if their food sucks when they have gorgeous girls here, right? Just kidding

Cyclone Anaya is an imposing presence on the corner of Belt Line and Momfort in Addison that’s hard to miss, but despite its hulky exterior, it belies a swanky interior. The Tex Mex cuisine is mostly standard fare. My colleagues and I ordered off the lunch special menu and thought the food was decent — about 3 star. My enchilada was looking pretty scrawny — not enough beef and just overloaded with cheese. The salsa thankfully was good — warm and a nice hit of spice. But if I really wanted good Tex Mex food, I’d hit Café Herrera’s or Mia’s. I would hit Cyclone for drinks and appetizers though. Among the Tex Mex joints I’ve been to in Dalals, this place definitely has the swankiest atmosphere and the only reason it gets a fourth star. If you’re looking for a slightly more upscale version of Mi Cocina with handsomely decorated interiors this is the right place for you. I liked the small flat screen TVs at the spacious leather banquettes and the designer modern light chandelier by the bar. There’s a board at the entrance of the restaurant that chronicles the real life story of the famous Mexican wrestler Cyclone Anaya, which is pretty entertaining to read while you’re waiting to be seated. But really, the part about their four«magnificent» children? It’s a bit much.

Went there last weekend and loved it. Great food, comfortable seating, great service, great interior inside. Those margaritas are humongous and you do get your money’s worth — by drinking one of those you’re sure to get into a happy mood really quickly ha-haa. They have outdoor patio which is quite nice but it was a bit chilly and we went for a booth inside. But will definitely be back and check out the outside area.
