So on my last day visiting Texas, I came to Donna’s pie house as I was waiting for my friend to finish classes for the day. There weren’t too many pies available(hence –1 star), but I did manage to get a slice of their Pecan pie which is my favorite kind, and it was AMAZING! The people working there were quite friendly. I forgot what my friend got, but he loved it too. I wanted to buy a whole pie to take home, but they didn’t have any in the hour I sat in the store. Maybe you had to place an order in advance? Still, I’ll definitely be doing that if I ever visit again!

I tried their sample chocolate pie bites and they were good! I went to order some more pie bites and looking at their menu, they had a huge selection I could choose from. When I went to actually order them, they had only 4 flavors. I was very disappointed but I’m sure I’ll be back to check out some more pie bites, when they actually have more than 4 flavors though.

Donna’s Pie house is a great little gem. I like to just go in there have black coffee and a piece of pie. The chocolate cream pie and the coconut pie are my favorites but to be fair I have not tried them all. I’m pretty sure you can eat off the floor in this place it’s quite clean. The menu is short but quite good favoring soups, salads and sandwiches. I really haven’t been there for dinner so I can’t speak to that. There is no question that it’s easier to purchase a pie in this place and take it to a party then to try to bake one. It will not taste as good if you do it at home and the ingredients are not going to cost that much less. I brought these pies to a birthday party and it was a huge surprise to people and not one slice was left at the end. A nice alternative to cake. For something special at the office or again to bring to a dinner is to buy a dozen small bites and mixing back all types of pies. Homemade food and Pie!

Stopped in on the way to the airport for some pie. The service was excellent. The chocolate covered cherry coffee really tasted like a chocolate covered cherry. In the spirit of chocolate, I had the chocolate pie bite, which is the perfect amount of sweetness.

Pies. Little mini pies. Order them by the dozen. Get fat. Enjoy. I had the apple and the pecan mini pies. Yes multiple, don’t judge. They were tasty. I need to go back and buy more now. I can’t say anything else about their other food items, this place is called a Pie House, why would you try anything else other than the pies?

Not sure if this is totally fair: rating a pie house without actually trying the pie, but I’ll tread carefully. So, we went for breakfast after driving past the Pancake House line and sadly opting for #2: a place we hadn’t tried yet: Donnas pie house. They had breakfast, Unilocal had assured me! But we have to help our fellow Unilocalers out to prevent further confusion in the vast dining arena. This ain’t so much a breakfast place, folks. There only egg options is «scrambles» which means they don’t do «eggs to order». No sunny side, runny eggs dropping out of my breakfast sandwich at the Pancake house… Anyhow, service was fine, music was Muzak a la 1982 elevator. And the trip salad sampler did little to redeem the microwaved eggs. Tuna, egg, chic salad wasnt horrible, but reminded me of a corner deli in NYC with average seasoning etc. the extra star in this 1.5 tar review is due to me giving the hyped pies the kudos(I’m sure) they deserve. And will be back to try again. :). Love mom and pop neighborhood jaunts

i came here for breakfast and to pick-up some pie bites. as for breakfast. i had the breakfast sandwich(egg, bacon and cheese) which came with a side of fruit. it was decent sandwich and reasonably priced at 7 bucks. i grabbed a dozen pie bites. and so far. the chocolate pie bite and the coconut cream pie bite were damn good. the pie crust is relatively thin like the ready-made pie crust you can find at your local grocer. but much flakier… of note. their pies aren’t too sweet.

These are some of the best pies you can buy from a store… they also have a great lunch and dinner menu!

I’m simply rating what this place is named after, which are the pies. I haven’t tried them all yet but so far they have all been great. They sell what they call«pie bites» so that you can pretty much sample the whole menu of pies without feeling like a fatso. Gotta recommend the Pecan for sure. Next on my list is the banana sundae pie which is a mix of coconut cream, banana cream, and chocolate.

Yummy! We always get the soup and tea sandwiches at lunch. They’re all wonderful, but the coffee and PIE!!! Out of this world! I love a full slice of coconut or cherry, but you can get little pie bites as well. Plus free wifi! Can’t beat it!

When I see a place that specializes in pie and cakes, you know I gotta stop and try it! I stepped in here on my way to dinner one night(you know dessert first always!!) and I ordered the cherry pie and added whip cream and warmed it up. It came out quick and was delish. I also ordered a pecan mini, and almost ordered a dozen more just for the ride but glad I didn’t bc these things are dangerously good!!! I would go back this for these. The owners and servers were nice and courteous and I appreciate that.

«Your mom wants coconut crème pie.» said my Dad after her birthday lunch at Rex’s seafood on Lovers Lane. We checked out the case at Donna’s and spied some Meringues that resembled my Grandmothers pie skills: homemade crust, and big homemade white cloud merengue. One taste was confirmation — pretty damn close to Laverne’s magic. The fillings were homemade too, the coconut one with flakes in the pudding. The chocolate one smooth yet dense. «Where’s Donna?» my Dad joked with the older man behind the counter. «Right here.». The man motioned to a quiet small grey haired woman who was busy around. «thank you.». We said. $ 1 mimosas were weak but had real orange juice. The setting is that of a suburban home — simple, and clean with just the basics of ordinary country cottage chairs and tables you might find at The Home store. Diner menu keeps things well rounded. Wine. Coffee. «Your first time here?» the man said. He gave use mini pies to go — which included blueberry, cherry, apple, coconut and chocolate. «please come back.» he said sincerely. Pies to go for holidays and parties. It’s like a classy donut shop in Highland Park.

What a cute little place! I love the area around this place so that was a booster. I was in the mood for some kind of desserts so my boyfriend and I decided to check out this place. We ordered a slice of apple pie which was delicious! The people working there are super friendly. I definitely enjoyed this place.

Dinner with a buddy on a Friday night. Very casual. Food was good. I had a turkey/bacon sandwich which exceeded expectations. Chocolate pie was excellent! Tone down the lighting a bit at night, and this is a quaint neighborhood spot to grab something to eat and a GREAT dessert!

Pros: Damn good feta guacamole burger — Wowzers The lemon ice box and buttermilk pie! Very nice and attentive staff Pretty good vanilla latte Cons: Could use some re-branding. Inside doesn’t feel like a pie house. More like a Target furniture outlet.

What a great idea… pie bites! I stopped in today and took home 6 different ones — chocolate, lemon, pumpkin, cherry, blueberry and apple. The staff was very friendly when I came in this morning and took great care of me. The pie bites are just the right size and really quite good. I will definitely be back!

We went to Donna’s Pie House Café late on a Friday night… around 8:45. Not only was the food delish that owners and staff were so freindly! I had the roast turkey and avocado sandwhich on marble rye bread and i can not say enough good things about it. I also had a cup of soup b/c i love love love soup! That night their special was spicy shrimp chowder. most amazing spicy shrimp chowder i have ever had. Not only was the main course great the desserts are to die for! They have little pies called«pie bites.» They are genius and i will be getting them for every party or get together i have from now on. We had one of each pie bite they still had from the day… which was: cherry, apple, coconut meringue and chocolate. AMAZING!!! so moral of the review is get to Donna’s Pie House Café and get to eating!!!

Wow. Not only are the owners super friendly(free pie bites!) but the desserts are phenomenal. Haven’t had their savory food yet, but I’ll definitely be making a trip(or 5!) back. Try the coconut crème pie! Ohhhh my…
