tiny little restaurant tucked away inside a strip mall. we were greeted warmly by the host, manager, and the sushi chefs all at once when we walked in. we ordered takoyaki to start, then the super toro roll and then the rainbow roll. takoyaki came 5 to an order, and were fried nice and crispy and plenty of bonito flakes. the super toro roll came out first, and was very refreshing and not super heavy/creamy like most rolls. definitely try this; toro is such an indulgent fish. the rainbow roll took a strangely long time to come out but its alright, it was still very good. i shared with a friend and left not feeling overbloated on rice. i would say the ambiance is a little lacking; a little hollow feeling and smells a teeny bit like cleaning products. lighting is a little dim but in a blue way. will come back to try a lunch special or something if i’m in the area. very warm staff and i felt invited to come back.

I went with my husband during lunch. I’m very surprised that it’s not very popular. Our food was delicious and the service was great! I will visit again next time when I drive up north.

I’m going to definitely say this place is legit. Growing up on Japanese sushi and eating sashimi my whole life, I am definitely happy to find this place thanks to some friends! Always ask the sushi bar chef what’s on special — if you really eat sushi he will hook you up. For everyone else, there’s regular rolls, cooked sushi and nigiri style sushi.

I ordered the vegetarian roll and it was absolutely phenomenal. I would have taken a picture but I devoured it. It was avocado, mango, spring mix lettuce, sweet potato and rice all rolled into what appeared to be steamed cabbage leaves. Usually I am not one to mix fruit with salty flavors – but it provided the perfect balance to the roll and was not overtly«sweet». It also came with so much veg layered on top, that I first thought I had mistakenly been given a salad. Instead, I had been given a HUGE roll with bonus veggies as a salad. As a vegan it can be very difficult to find sushi that is more than just an avocado, tofu, or a few matchstick veggies. I was VERY pleased with what I had here and imagine the rest of their menu to be equally good. Also, the service was great. Even though we were ordering to go the entire staff greeted us and thanked us when we left. Great hospitality!

This is the best sushi in Dallas. I loved this place and then we moved to California for two years. Now that we’re back, I’m so pleased to find that it’s still just as delicious and every bit as friendly as they ever were. I’ve never done a Unilocal review but decided this place was worth taking the time to finally contribute to the reviews. The super toro was very good! Fresh fish and amazing flavor contrast. This was our first time ordering it. My husband commented that it was one of the best rolls he had ever had. The proposal roll is also a great one when you have had enough rice. It’s wrapped with crab meat instead of rice which makes it unique and so delicious! It’s a bit more creamy. I love this place. Even though I don’t live nearly as close in our new house, I’ll still make the trip to eat here whenever I crave sushi. It sets the bar too high to try anywhere else and it’s never disappointed!

I’ve had my fair share of good sushi but I gotta say this place was mediocre. I had high hopes after reading all the great reviews on here but my experience wasn’t that good. First off, there was a terrible odor in the restaurant so be aware! They have plenty of sushi/sashimi to order from on the menu which is a plus but the quality of the fish was not too great. Also, I requested the manager to set up a nice table for my friends and I for my birthday dinner two days before I visited the place. They placed us right next to the kitchen which did not make any of us happy. On a good note, the wait staff and sushi chef were extremely friendly and professional. I may give it a second try but overall my first experience was not a good one.

Very, very good japanese restaurant. The katsu curry was amazing — try it with ramune if you really want to treat yourself. It’s a bit on the pricy side for meals, but quality nonetheless.(Yes, I know most people come here for sushi. I like roads-less-traveled — or in this case, the meals-less-known-about, if that’s even a thing.) I’ve been here twice, and the service is consistently amazing, always on-point. I’ll come back more often, for sure.

I was excited to see high ratings for this place. But they were not really good. Black cod is a dish that we can evaluate the chef’s skill. They totally ruined it. I don’t know whether the fish was not fresh or the chef did not know how to cook it but it came out hard and burned. Black cod should be treated with great care because it is so tender. Other dishes are not good as well. Really disappointed. All I can give star is for the service. Their servers are really nice though.

I got the $ 50 Omakase with a friend and it was overall pretty good. I think we got 4 simple dishes with salad and miso soup. We came with high expectations so we were dissatisfied with the little amount of course dishes. I wouldn’t pay $ 50 dollars for only 4 dishes. The dishes were delicious but not for the price. We compare it to other sushi places that have course menus like Gangnam Sushi. However in the end, we were pretty filled.

This place never fails to amaze me! We have moved farther from this little find but we will drive the extra time for sure! When we come here we normally get omakase or a combo meal. Omakase means surprise in Japanese(so I am told). Essentially it is a continuous course meal of chefs choice. You pick the price! We have always left stuffed no matter what price we choose. We used to be able to walk in and do it but I don’t believe that is the case anymore. We lately have been ordering the Combo which comes with a miso soup, salad with ginger dressing, grilled giant scallops appetizer, simple tempura appetizer, and a special roll. The other combo includes the same but nigiri instead. The yellowtail heaven is a great appetizer too! My favorite special roll is the super toro roll! Everything goes together so perfectly! Also a favorite is the volcano shell. I could go on & on!

Have you ever found a new place that you feel has been the best kept secret and you hesitate sharing it with the whole world in fear that the next time you dined the lines would stretch out the door? Well THIS was my new found gem!!! It was a little bit if a drive for me which was why it was on the back-burner of places to hit for so long but Oh Em Gee I have found my new little spot for sushi. Lets start out with service: it was really great. The waitress suggested items we should try based on my selections and was extremely helpful. The food: everything tasted super fresh, the sauce with my sea bass dish woke up my taste buds, the hamachi kama was rich and grilled to perfection, the uni had to have been one of the freshest Ive ever tasted, and the house made eel literally melted in my mouth. Last but not least, katsu curry was crispy on the outside with great flavor on the inside. I am officially obsessed with this place and MUST come back asap.

Decent sushi, they have a lot of good appetizers. The grilled octopus was cooked perfectly. My wife really liked their gizzard. Sushi tasted good and fresh, we came during happy hour and received a small discount on our beer and sake. Price is moderate as with sushi things add up real quick. The service was great, they even brought a free small appetizer which was a nice touch.

The Kaki Age is a must! That’s probably be best dish of the night for me. The best fried oysters I have tasted. Other dishes are pretty good like the salmon toro, sea bass sashimi, and takoyaki. The sea bass would have been much better if it was a bit colder. Aside from those appetizers and sashimi, I have also tried two of their rolls: Fuji fire roll and super toro roll. I find the rolls to be pretty mediocre. They’re not bad, they’re decent but nothing spectacular. As for the price, I think it’s pretty good for the amount and quality of foods you are getting. The service is exceptional! Another highlight of the night. The servers are very friendly, attentive, and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place out.

DONOTORDERENTREESPERIOD. You have been warned. We ordered curry udon and bento set, they were absolutely terrible. The only thing in the bento set that was good was tempura. Miso soup and salad were pretty bad too. The water is not filtered either. However, their sushi is excellent. Come here for sushi only! Service is meh. Atmosphere is loud, not great for hanging out with friends.

I don’t think I had anything here I disliked. It was recommended to me by a coworker/boss and the recommendation was well-received. My SO and I get the tuna/ahi tower at every sushi place we go to as our staple to compare. While this one was a bit on the smaller size in terms of portions, the taste was absolutely wonderful. On top of that we ordered Super Toro Rol which in my opinion is the best thing I’ve had here. The fish just melts in your mouth. The Tai Cebiche roll is a little lighter and very lemony so if you don’t like lemon flavor, probably dont’ get that. I enjoyed it very much. Also the butterfly kiss roll… also really really good. Like I said, there wasn’t anything i tried I didn’t like so I had to give it 5 stars. On top of that, the wait staff is always very friendly and quick about getting us our food. We’ve already been back twice.

5 star food, 3 star service. Our server seemed very arrogant and cold. He paused every time we asked a question and got a smirk on his face and looked around before he answered. It was a little awkward and felt very cold and arrogant. Other servers started helping us a few minutes later and they were all nice(not great servers but nice… Maybe mediocre… I wasn’t too impressed). There were only 4 of us, we were here celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday, and we were very laid back, so it should have been pretty easy. The food was pretty good. We got the yellowtail heaven(5 stars DEFINITELY), clam miso soup(1 star, it tasted fishy), tako yaki octopus(1 star, mushy mess), kaki age fried oysters(4 stars, pretty good), and jumbo shrimp shumai(5 stars, great) for our appetizers. Our friends got the volcano roll(3 stars, not much flavor) and the lobster roll(3 stars, the roll was ok but the fried lobster on the side just tasted like fried bread). We got the shrimp killer roll but replaced the shrimp on top with salmon(4.5 stars, really good) and the spicy yellowtail roll(5 stars, amazing!!). Overall I think I might come back if I was in the area but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here again.

Wow I’ve had sushi all over the DFW area and let me say that this is one of the TOP sushi places. What caught my attention initially was when I say they offered specials and rare cuts of fish that you usually can’t find at all sushi places. They offer uni, sweet shrimp, salmon toro, glass eel… And the list goes on and on. My meal started off with miso soup, house salad, and an amuse bush of fried sweet potato topped with almonds. I decided to get the sushi A combo and it comes with 5 pieces of nigiri and your choice of California, spicy tuna, or spicy salmon roll. All of this amazing quality sushi for only $ 12. I also really wanted to try the sweet shrimp and fatty salmon toro and it was AMAZING. The salmon toro is MELT in your mouth amaze balls and affordable at only $ 8 for 4 pieces of nigiri, the sweet shrimp was very delicate and they even deep fried the heads in tempura batter so you can eat all parts of the shrimp! Their tempura batter is very flavorful and so crispy that I’m contemplating ordering a tempura meal next time I go! Service was phenomenal and plating even more spectacular. I recommend this place to any sushi fan you will NOT be disappointed! Tip: there’s a board with their specials in the middle of the sushi bar, be sure to check it out for the latest catch!

To start off, this is some of the best sushi I’ve had in Dallas. And it’s very affordable! I was really impressed with the quality of the fish, the creativity of the menu, and the attentiveness of the staff. We came as a huge group(~15) for a school event, and they were very accommodating. I was actually pretty surprised that it wasn’t crowded on a Saturday night, but maybe that was because it was storming outside. I got seaweed salad, grilled hamachi collar, salmon toro sashimi, salmon toro sushi, uni sushi, and the dragon roll. The boyfriend ordered the caribbean roll, the louisiana roll, salmon toro sushi, and tempura udon. Yeah, it was a TON of food, but we were super excited to try everything. The seaweed salad was good, but nothing special. The grilled hamachi was absolutely delicious. It had great flavor, and the fish was very tender. I devoured it in minutes. Then came the plates and plates of sushi. The servers even gave us recommendations on the particular order we should eat our food based on flavor profiles, which was pretty cool. The dragon roll was alright, so I’d recommend ordering their more unique rolls. I tried a piece of the caribbean roll, which was more like a sliced spring roll than a sushi roll. It was tasty, but had too much lettuce for me. The boy really enjoyed it though. The tempura udon was really good too – the noodles were cooked perfectly, and the broth was flavorful. Now, the sushi. The salmon toro was to die for. Next time, I’m just gonna get a couple orders of the salmon toro sashimi, and I’ll be in heaven. It melts in your mouth, and it’s soaked in some special sauce and topped with chopped chives, making it such a wonderful bite! And it’s only $ 13 for 6 pieces? Yes please. I will even go as far to say that I liked it better than the salmon at most places we tried in Tokyo. The uni was really high quality as well. And as an added bonus, Fujiyama gives you fresh wasabi with orders of sushi. I usually hate wasabi, but the fresh wasabi is great because it’s more mild than the wasabi that comes in a tube. Finally, we got some green tea mochi ice cream for dessert. We were expecting something like Trader Joe’s, but again, it exceeded our expectations. The green tea ice cream was really subtle(and didn’t taste like lipstick!), and the mochi skin was thin and very chewy. I loved my experience here and can’t wait to come back!
