Went to see Kelly Clarkson back in August for super cheap! It was the second concert I’ve ever been to and lawn seating is great because you can bring your own blankets and chairs. Don’t forget those unless you enjoy sitting on the grass alone! It’s more chill than a typical stadium arena. My sisters and I had a great time. I wouldn’t recommend lawn seats for people who want to be really close to the stage though. Despite the big screens next to the stage, it’s still hard to get a great view of the performers. Still, the atmosphere is amazing. Parking was okay, the signs on the road leading to it were not helpful. I had to ask someone where to park. One warning I have(which is why I’m taking off one star) is that there was a stand set up before we entered the performance area giving out contest entries for free concert tickets at Gexa. We later found out, after getting a letter in the mail, that this ‘contest’ was actually not for what we signed up for. The entry had been shared with some company called Silverleaf which turned out to be a timeshare company. The letter informed me that I had the potential of winning one of 4 – 5 prizes but only if we attended one of their presentations. This is not what we signed up for! If we had fully read all the terms on the back of the entry form, we would have known that this was not a contest for free concert tickets like it was advertised by the people at the booth! So warning to those going, be sure to read any terms on entry forms because they may be sharing your info to people you don’t want contacting you. Other than that, we had a good time and would definitely go again.

Love concerts in the summer and even in the rain on the lawn in October. Lots of fun. Amazing memories!

We love sitting on the lawn at the Gexa! Get there a bit early to pick a good spot. Definitely bring a blanket or something to sit on; if it’s wet, consider bringing a sheet of plastic or plastic shower curtain to put under your blanket so it doesn’t soak through. Tickets are usually pretty cheap, but then drinks are EXPENSIVE! Knowing that going in, you can be prepared. Maybe pre-game elsewhere and then Über to the show?

Wouldn’t let us bring lawn chairs. Said they weren’t short enough. Buy we could«rent» chairs inside. When I complained they call over Dallas PD so they wouldn’t have listen. When we got inside their were no chairs. Oh and people had unauthorized lawn chairs inside. What a ripoff. The only good thing was seeing Zac Brown. I will not be paying for any more tickets for concerts at this location.

Came here for Luke Bryan last night. Last night was about 50 degrees which isn’t normal for Texas in October. We had a lot of rain this weekend. This venue is outside but there is a roof covering the ones with seats. If you have lawn seats then the lawn may of been moist. I’m sure this venue is lovely when it’s sunny and warm. The venue only offered VIP parking which was $ 50. But there is parking outside the venue. Some of the neighbors will allow you to park at their residents usually between $ 10-$ 20. We paid $ 15 to park at someone’s resident which was right outside the venue so it was easy to get out. Didn’t get stuck in traffic. The restrooms! There are not enough restrooms for this concert venue, I came in at 630 and the line was way out the door. I waited in line for the restroom, got in line to buy a shirt, and that took about 45 minutes. My boyfriend told me the men’s urinals were over flowing with urine, when the men stand to pee, you’re stepping in pee. So Gexa needs to do somethings about the restrooms! Beer is $ 13! I’ve been to Global Life, AT&T, AA Center, the convention center and Gexa has the most over price drinks! Despite the weather and restroom issues I had a great time for the Luke Bryan concert!

Went for the Oddball Comedy Festival a few nights ago. The venue itself is OK. Having the option(pricing wise) of cheap lawn seats is nice. I don’t know if I would have pulled the trigger if only reserved seating pricing was available. The facility clearly shows it’s age, but my biggest complaint was about the watered down drinks we got at the concession stand called ‘Moonshine’ or something like that. I ordered a double margarita which was a 8 second pour of tequilla plus mixer. I was actually worried that it might be over powered taste wise in a 14 oz or so cup, but I could honestly not even taste it. My wife got a Rum Runner out of the machine and said something about it tasting like it didn’t have alcohol and the bar tender poured a free shot of Rum in the top out of the bottle without saying a word. I strongly suspect that both the rum and tequilla were fairly watered down in the bottles, and the Rum Runner drink machine was pretty weak as a starting point. The drinks tasted pretty good actually, but when you are paying $ 15 per drink, you expect a little kick to it.

Crappy place to see a show, expensive and parking sucks. Don’t even bother with lawn seats, you won’t hear anything.

I usually prefer events at this location due to the historically free parking and the great view that the lawn access has. Though last night was just embarrassing for Dallas and it’s ability to handle crowd control. It took over an hour to access the last 500 meters of this area and park for it. Many police hired for the event were lazily just sitting in their cars not directing traffic. Once you got inside the venue, things were not much better. Concession lines were slow and extremely long. If you were lucky enough to wait it out for some food, it was often just lukewarm or flat out cold. Luckily, they take all of your belongings from you at the door so they can force you to wait in their understaffed low quality food lines. I am seriously considering if I would even come back to this location. Everyone knows this is not in the best part of town, but my best customer service experience came from parking in one of the 3rd party lots from one of the local residents. This was the last place I expected an overly friendly encounter. What I didn’t expect is that this would be the only encounter of the night.

Well kept venue! This is the best outdoor venue I have ever been too. The acoustics are great. The lawn seats as well as close seats have a great view. The pricing is very steep at the concessions and they generally don’t have enough staff, so you wait in line a long time for food.

Shame on me for thinking Gexa could handle a show on the last day of the Texas state fair. We’ve been to several concerts this year and are familiar with the area. We had tickets to the Oddball Comedy Fest tonight. We live in Oak Cliff but didn’t want to take Dart, having experienced the cluster that happens at the end of events. We drove, left 2 ½ hours early, anticipating extra traffic time. At the end of those 2 ½ hours we couldn’t even turn in to the Gexa parking gates and there were cars stopped everywhere lining the streets. Police directing traffic but everything was stopped. People were parking everywhere just to get out of traffic and waking a mile or more to get to the venue. There’s $ 150 and 2 ½ hours I’ll never get back. Never even made it into the show. Never again Gexa, never again.

Not one of our favorite venues. Do everything you can not to sit on the lawn or enjoy sitting in the grass for a few hours. The covered seats close to the stage can get quite expensive too depending on the artist. If you want to eat prior to an event here, your best bet is something in Deep Ellum and it’s only 10 minutes away.

UPDATESEPT. 2015: I took a blanket with me to sit on the lawn and I ended up throwing it away since they would not allow anyone to take blankets in. They are so concerned about something as trivial as a small blanket, but yet someone set a fire on the lawn and in another area a couple were having sex. Way to go! It’s no wonder I haven’t been back in over a year to this place. Anytime there’s a concert, I always check to see where it’s at first. I’ll stick with better establishments from now on. Gexa is filthy, staff is rude and everything is over-priced.

Gexa outdoor venue at Fair Park in Dallas is a good place to see a great band. It is a big place with a covered reserved seating in the front and grass seating in the back on a lager hill. I like the seating area better but that’s me. Some people like sitting on the grass. You do have a better breeze in the grass. And it can be very hot with no shade. And the covered area gets hot with sun hitting you until it goes all the way down. With not much breeze in the covered area so it will also be hot. So wear shorts and bring a hat and sun tan lotion so you will not get sunburned. I like the sound of the music I feel it is very good for being outside. The stage is far away if you are in the grass area. But the price is always better in the grass and if just want to hang out the grass is great place to sit. The parking is easy but there is always a line of cars to get into the gates. And when you leave it will take a while all the cars have to go out the same gate.

One our favorite venues of all time, OzzFest 2007, Mayhem Festival, Slipknot, Slayer to name a few. Just love the set-up, people are always nice and friendly. Yeah the drinks and food are pricey, but its at concert, so accept the price mark up. So

Nice venue. Nice size. Can hold plenty of people without a problem. However, if you’re sitting beyond the the 100s section the sound can be terrible. Very terrible. Also, it wasn’t police or anybody for that matter directing parking lot traffic when it was time to leave. Makes me wonder. I was in the same spot for 30 minutes.

I’ve been going to Gexa since it was the Coca Cola Starplex in 1994. My latest venture there was for a Def Leopard concert. I sat on the lawn with a group of 10 people. Make sure you bring a blanket or 2. I did notice that there is now an option to rent lawn chairs. I did not catch how much it was to rent them, though. I do know you can’t bring in your own chairs. I did see a group try to bring them in on their own and they were not permitted to them bring them in. The drinks of course were on the steep side with $ 12 for a beer. The sound system is a different story. I was amazed at how good Def Leopard sounded after being 20 years since their prime. That says a lot about the venue, that they sounded great! All in all it was fun night!

Hot, hot, hot DAMNTHISPLACEISBLINKINGHOT. Maybe it’s the fact I’m getting much older but even after the concert was over it was still HOTTTT. The management needs to do something to get some air circulating in the covered areas.

It’s a nice place to see a major concert. It is a huge venue. They do a nice job of holding tens of thousands of people and still making it easy to move around, use the bathroom and get a beer or some food without having to wait in line for too long. Most«seats» are general admission/lawn which means you don’t actually get a seat. Just a ticket to get in and then you find a place on the terrace to stand or sit. Props for having a craft beer station that has good stuff. You are not limited to only Coors Light or Bud Light if you want a better beer. They also have cocktails and mixed drinks. If you are a baller and buy a VIP seat, they have bartenders that can make drinks to order. Otherwise you are limited to Margaritas, Mojitos, Moscow Mules and things such as those. Credit/Debit cards accepted. This is hugely convenient since nobody carries cash anymore unless you make a special trip for that. Credit cards are accepted at all of the beer and food stands. However if you want to buy a drink from one of the guys walking around with the cooler, you will need cash. ATMs are available, but there are not enough of them. They have two next to each entrance(four total). Usually at least one is out of order. It’s best to get a 100 bucks before you get here. The food is better than typical concert venue fair. They have a really good Mexican place with burritos and tacos that rival a restaurant outside of an amphitheater. They also have burgers and hot dogs too(of course). It is really easy to get here from anywhere in Dallas thanks to the Green Line on the DART. It’s a short walk(about ½ a mile) from the DART stop to the entrance. Taxis and Ubers are everywhere when it’s time to leave. It’s easy to get out when the show is over.

This place has gone down hill and is in need of some updates. Parking is terrible it shouldn’t take an hour to get into the parking lot. They have plenty of staff standing around at the gate that could be helping out to move traffic along. Inside you will find an outdated sound system that use to sound great from the lawn. Now you are better off paying for parking and sitting in your car if you have lawn seats it pretty much sounds the same. On the food front 11 dollar beers will suck the money out of your pocket. Solution bring a six pack and have a few before going in

I always have a great time here on the lawn. When it gets dark outside, the atmosphere gets so good. I do agree that it could use a lot of sprucing up. Also, the beer is outrageously priced! More than whatever you’re thinking so be prepared for that shit.
