If you love trendy places to eat with Touch of rustic element this is the place to try :) been coming here for years and each time I’m wow by their food. Great flavors and combinations of taste/textures. I consider myself a foodie and when I’m in a mood for typical uptown Dallas vibes for the night without the snobby attitude of the waitstaff I come here :) valet is always good and people watching is also very fun at this place. Need to give this gem a try if you haven’t done so! Oh they are very busy most of time since this is right there in uptown area. So be prepare to wait!

Had a terrible meal last nite The table top was too high and too wide so it was hard to talk My husband’s Cosmopolitan was terrible and served in the wrong glass The food was over priced and uninspired… the plating wasn’t pretty. Nothing was special Service was very very slow Scallops were bland and the snapper was dry and flavorless However, the green salad was good as well as the French fries The apple cobbler was awful… there was honey comb in the bottom so it tasted like apples with wax I have no desire to go back Too bad. the restaurant is beautiful and has a great vibe

Wonderful restaurant for dinner and drinks with friends. The basil gimlet is a must! We had two orders of the lamb shank and the sea scallops – meat falls off the lamb shank and the sea scallops were«melt in your mouth» delicious. We ordered a charcuterie board as an appetizer but could have probably gone without it. For desert we had the butterfinger ice cake – can’t imagine a better way to end this amazing meal! The ambience is cozy yet elegant. Will definitely go back!

We came here for our anniversary since we had it booked marked for a while. Service was great! Food was okay. Their menu(winter) was rather short. We ordered the Bibb salad which was quite refreshing, not an entrée portion. And the special for the day which was a full fish. It has a great taste to it but very hard to eat, you had to be careful so you wouldn’t poke yourself. Our total plus 2 drinks was $ 90. It was a place to try but not to return.

I LOVE Hibiscus but haven’t been here for a few years. Waiter was Amazing! Food was seriously meh. Salad had no flavor. Halibut was so dry we sent it back and the second try was only marginally better. Kudos that they apologized and comp’d it but geez. And the apple crisp dessert was very ordinary. Nothing to justify the $$$.

One of the best restaurants in Dallas. The food is always delicious and the service impeccable. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

This is a solid steakhouse. My first experience here with my then boyfriend was one of the most amazing dining experiences ever. The waiter was immensely precise and proper but not overly so. The lavender ice-cream paired with home-made apple pie was out of this world(the third best dessert I’ve ever had in my life – and I’ve dined at a couple of Michelin 3-star restaurants in France and Italy before). I would have given this place a 5-star; however, my second dining experience was quite different from the first. The food was good but did not knock my socks off. The service was good but not even close to what I had during my first dining experience. Due to this inconsistency, I am giving this a four star. I would come back again, but it would not be my go-to topnotch restaurant.

Meh. Now, I’m not trying to hate on Hibiscus… We had a lovely time, our waitress was fantastic and they were very accommodating to our ever-changing reservation needs. The only reason for my 3 star review is because the food left a lot to be desired considering the price point. I guess the word that comes to mind is… Unmemorable. It wasn’t bad; it wasn’t great; the bread was very dry and I can’t even remember the small plates we shared. My favorite part of the meal with their French fries and that homemade ketchup. Yummy! They were also nice enough to bring us a delicious butterfinger ice cream pie for my friend’s birthday which was super tasty! So bonus points for that. But yeah, I guess I came in to this place with extraordinary expectations and those fell rather flat. Like I said, it’s nothing the restaurant did wrong– service was on point and food was good! But I can’t even recall what we ordered we for dinner, so I guess I was looking for something more earth-shattering based on what I have heard about Hibiscus.

Had a wonderful«special occasion» dinner at Hibiscus recently. I give it four and a half stars but am rounding up to 5 because almost everything was fantastic. The waiter was very patient and attentive, and gave us some great recommendations. We started with the rabbit agnolotti and beet salad. The agnolotti was creamy, buttery, herby, delicious. It could have been warmer, but I loved it all the same. The beet salad was great too… the chevre base was magical. We knew we wanted steak, so deciding on the other entrée was tricky, as everything sounded pretty good. Ended up deciding on the«Heritage» pork four ways, which was honestly the best dish I’ve had in awhile. Pork tenderloin medallions, pork shoulder, a very flavorful, very airy chicharron, and the best cooked crispy-on-the-outside/buttery-on-the-inside pork belly I’ve had in recent memory. It went really nicely with the polenta. Sadly the thing that wasn’t fantastic was the 20 oz black angus ribeye steak, which was the most expensive thing on the menu. It mentions it comes with redfrill, horseradish, and dilly beans, which turned out to just be a plain looking little shredded salad with a few pickled green beans in it. The steak was massive, and cooked properly, just nothing special. I ended up dipping the steak in the pork jus before too long. Dessert was the apple cobbler, which was also a home run. The waiter also recommended a nice, won’t-break-the-bank wine to go with the meal. I did note what Nickie G lamented about in her last review… the crab dip and mac n’ cheese are gone off the menu. I was never a fan of the crab dip(where was the crab?!) but the mac n’ cheese WAS pretty good. I asked the waiter and he said they are bringing it back with a new and improved recipe soon, and I will definitely come back to get it with another Pork Platter. Gah, that was good.

Full prices, empty belly. I won’t be going back. One star for atmosphere, and two stars for the Ice Box Pie. Everything else about this place was a major disappointment. I felt like the attempt at creativity behind the menu was trying way too hard. You’ll have to forgive me because I went a few months back, so I forgot what I had to eat: it was that forgettable. The only thing I remember was how high the bill was and how I was still hungry. Sad panda.

I don’t do this very often, but I’d like to retract my previous review completely. I gave Hibiscus another try and I was more than blown away by the genuinely sweet and caring attention to service and the amazing dishes we ordered. As soon as we walked in the door we received amazing service. We started with the chacuterie board which came with 5 meats and in house pickled vegetables which consisted of olives, tomatoes, beets, okra, etc. My favorite from the board is the rabbit pâté. It was so delicious! The pickled vegetables were a perfect compliment to all the cured meats and quite enjoyable. I had the pork trio which is an off menu item they had for dinner that night. The pork trio included pork prepared three different ways(sausage, fried pork belly, and a shredded pork). It was very enjoyable! It came on a bed of kale, poached pear, and their delicious gruyère potatoes which I had to order a side of. My boyfriend had the pork porterhouse, which is the star of Hibiscus in my opinion. The pork porterhouse is so delicious and is definitely the best pork I’ve ever had! It is perfect cooked, moist, and so flavorful. I am very thankful that I came back to Hibiscus and plan on many, many future dinners here.

Can’t say enough great things about Hibiscus. To start, we told them it was our anniversary so they saved a corner booth for us and brought us champagne. Our waiter, Danny, was one of the best I’ve had in some time. He took careful consideration to listen to my dietary restrictions and offer menu suggestions accordingly. We ordered the meat tray appetizer which came with delicious pickled vegetables. For dinner we shared the sirloin which was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and return.

I would recommend hibiscus for special occasions! Here are a few highlights: 1) Service: The management at this restaurant is wonderful. They quickly address any concerns you have. The waiter we had was also very attentive. He made sure we were pleased with each dish and we never ran low on drinks. 2) Atmosphere– It had rustic/classy feel. I liked it. The dining room was an open space. 3) Food– I had the pâté and the steak. Both were delicious! The steak was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The pâté had a surprising sweetness from orange they put in it. I would order both again!

For an expensive restaurant this place was just OK. They change their menu monthly due to sustainability purposes so perhaps this was the wrong month to go. I saw only one thing on the menu that looked appealing, scallops. but I didn’t have a say in ordering the food. We had the quail legs(1st course), heriloom tomatoes(second course), and something that tasted like pot roast(3rd course). Nothing wowed me. Wait staff was nice. The drinks were what saved the day. They have this one drink with ginger in it and it’s to die for.

One my favorite restaurants. The waiter who took our order new what he was talking about and helped recommend several dishes. Lamb was top notch. Don’t be shocked, they are expensive but if you want to take a lady out for a nice night on Knox/Henderson this is the place to go.

On the Eater 38 Dallas list(as of July 2015) I was finally able to make it to Hibiscus on my last work trip, after I had to cancel a previous reservation. However, it was well worth the wait! We came in on a Thursday night, and I made my reservation at least a month ahead of time for a party of 4 at 6:30pm. We had to add a few additional people last minute and they were very accommodating. We sat at the bar for a bit since we were waiting for other colleagues, but they seated us right when we were ready. We split a lot of dishes, so I got to try: –Crispy Lamb Ribs(Brown Sugar-Sherry Glaze, Smoked Mustard, ): A must order! The crispiness of the lamb ribs made it that much more delicious, and it pairs with the sauce amazingly. We ended up ordering 3 plates of this over the course of the night. –Scotch Egg(Creamed Greens, House Bacon, ): Good, but not amazing. The yolk was runny, but the sausage coating wasn’t that flavorful. I probably wouldn’t order this again. –Texas Cheeses(Preserves, Raw Honey): Not bad, but not spectacular. The cheeses were all good, but not amazing. –Poor Mans Lobster Bake(Monkfish, Clams, Potatoes, Cauliflower, Chorizo): Just ok for me, but I’m not a big fan of monkfish. Everyone else seemed to really enjoy this though. –Braised Short Rib(Nightly Special, ): Yum– the short rib was tender and flavorful, and they give you a huge portion. Recommended! –Hand Cut Fries(Fontina Fondue, ): ORDERTHESENOW if you’re a fries lover– they were the perfect ratio of crispy to fluffy, and the fontina fondue just added to the deliciousness. –Brussels Sprouts w/Apple Butter: Just ok– nothing special. I wasn’t a fan of the apple butter. –Assorted Mushrooms w/Thyme: Again, just ok, nothing special. –Spaetzle & Cabbage w/Mustard Seeds: I didn’t like this version of spaetzle, which was too dry, and bland overall. –Heirloom Carrot Cake(Cream Cheese, Candied Nuts, Carrot-Ginger Coulis): The carrot cake was super moist, and the frosting was delicious, but I don’t like cardamom, so could only eat one bite of this cake. Non-cardamom haters really enjoyed this though. –Ice Box Pie(Crushed Butterfinger, Vanilla Ice Cream, Oreo Cookie Crust): It’s hard to find fault with a combination of butterfinger, vanilla ice cream, and oreo cookie– this was delicious, and highly recommended! –Valrhona Chocolate Mousse(Huckleberries, Whiskey Cream): Creamy with good chocolate flavor, but not amazing. The service was excellent, and the staff really goes above and beyond to ensure you have a great meal here. Our server was super attentive and helpful. I had a great meal here, and I will definitely come back for the lamb riblets, FRIES, and pie! Parking is super difficult to find in this area, but street parking is available, and they also have complimentary valet.

Have always heard good things about Hibiscus. We had a late reservation and the place wasn’t too full. Our server was polite and had great recommendations all night. It’s lighting was good for a nice dinner date and the noise level was minimal. We got seated quickly and started with drinks. My girlfriend got the basil gimlet and I got the agave & aperol. Both drinks were delicious. Hers was just sweet enough but not too fruity. Mine was great. The Serrano flavor really hits your taste buds. My only complaint was that you couldn’t really taste the tequila but not a good deal because of the quality of the drink. We started off with the mussels which was the low point of the night. They were very fishy tasting compared to others we’ve recently had. The broth they were in wasn’t the traditional tomato base which may have affected how they tasted overall. I’d recommend walking next door to the porch if you want mussels. For the entrée we got the scallops as well as the pork porterhouse with a side of assorted mushrooms. The scallops were good. Not great but not bad. The seat was perfect as well as the seasoning but I thought they could have used 10 – 15 more seconds of cooking. The mushrooms really missed out on the seasoning and were bland. The highlight of the night was the pork porterhouse. This thing was seasoned perfectly and cooked even better. Once I cut into it you saw the juices pour out and form a little river of juices through the smoked mustard. I’m tempted to go back and see if the steals are just as good. We finished the night with the ice box pie. No complaints from me. We got exactly what we thought we would. We wanted to try the cheesecake but at $ 20 a slice, I’d rather go buy an entire cheesecake elsewhere. Overall, this place was great. I’d return again to try a few other dishes. The only thing keeping this from a 5 star was the mussels and that could just be my own bias as to enjoying a tomato base rather than what we had.

We had an amazing evening here. I have always heard great things about Hibiscus, but was a little skeptical to eat here since they offer so many sea food plates, which I don’t eat at all. The inside of the restaurant is very beautiful. It has a simple, rustic feeling. At first the waitress seemed to be in a rush, but once she realized we wouldn’t be moving for a while she let us take the lead with the pace. After all, we were there celebrating a special occasion. To begin we started off with the cheese board from the specials menu. I loved that they use cheeses strictly from local N. TX cheese makers, which is a great way to support our community. It had two different types of goat cheese, a blue cheese, raw honey, almonds, green apples, strawberry jam, among other stuff. We all enjoyed this very much. For our meals we tried the Wagyu Oxtail & Beef Tenderloin Lasagna. I really enjoyed the pesto gnocchi’s that came with the oxtail, although I wish I had ordered the Beef Tenderloin Lasagna from the special menu. Thankfully it comes in a large portion because I kept stealing bites from my boyfriend’s plate. I literally couldn’t keep my hands off it! The garlic bread it came with was delicious too. For our sides we ordered the Gruyère Potatoe Purée & Assorted Mushrooms. The Gruyère Potato Purée was amazing & my favorite in Dallas now. For dessert we had the Valrhona Chocolate Mousse which was good, but a little too rich for me. I absolutely LOVE chocolate, but even I couldn’t finish the last few bites. I was a little disappointed they no longer had the Dude, Sweet Chocolate & whiskey pairings I had read about on several sites online though. To drink I tried the Jaded Mule, Pimm’s Play, Steawberry Collins, & Pinot Noir(Lemelson). The Jaded Mule had jalapeño in it & so it wasn’t my favorite, but the rest of the drinks were good. If you haven’t been here before, you should check it out! You will not be disappointed!

I’ve been here twice, once for a residency interview 5 years ago and again this weekend for our anniversary. The first experience was terrible. I don’t remember the exact dish I ordered but my fish was raw in the center and completely inedible. I didn’t say anything at the time because I was there for a pre-interview dinner and I didn’t want to make a scene. I decided to give them a second chance and I’m really glad I did. The only cocktail we tried was the clover club which was awesome. My gf moved the drink to her corner of the table so that I wouldn’t drink any more of it. We ordered the bobwhite quail and rabbit for appetizers. The quail was really flavorful and one of the best I’ve had. The rabbit was a bit too cheesey for my taste but my girlfriend really liked it. For our entrees, we had the duck«coq au vin» and wagyu oxtail. The duck dish was hands down the best duck dish I’ve ever had. I was having foodgasms at the table. The duck is prepared 2 ways, both of which were cooked perfectly. The portions are also quite generous. I loved the broth as well. The only thing I didn’t particularly care for were the chickpea fries but again, my gf really liked them. The wagyu oxtail was served with gnocchi and was both flavorful and tender. It wasn’t quite as mind-blowing as the duck dish but was really good nonetheless. The second visit was a 5-star visit for sure, but I still have the memories of that raw fish in my mind and had to deduct a star.
