I would give zero star if I could. Server was so rude that we left. After telling us to sit anywhere when we asked where to sit and then being upset that we sat at a only available table? Are you freaking kidding me?

Small restaurant but great food. I can just tell that the soups are made by a bunch of ahjummas that really know what they’re doing. ;) It’s always the best to eat here when sick or cold/rainy days, or actually any day. :D I really like the kalbi tang here as well as the spicy hot pot with the giant dumplings and mushrooms. They also have a lot of other bone broth/tendon soups that they’re really known for. Not really my thing but try it out if you like it !

The food must be good if a place specializes in making that particular thing. Sul lung tang is one of those things that takes a lot of resources and time to make delicious, especially with the amount of stewing that must be done to infuse the soup with all the essence of the beef bones. The soup that they gave us was so savory and flavorful that I didn’t really add much else besides a bit of scallion to give it some green. And they were very generous with the amount of beef that came inside the soup as well. This is definitely a great go-to comfort food if you’re looking for something a bit heavy but also healthy.

A friend entrusted me with finding authentic Korean food for his brief visit back in Dallas. Of course the two places that come to mind are the Harry Hines«old» Korea town area and the Carrollton«new» H Mart Korea town area. LA Hanbat Sul Lung Tang specializes in ox tail soup. This is typical comfort food — or at least what I perceive as Korean comfort food. There won’t be a myriad of side dishes. Instead you get two big bowls of muu kimchi(radish kimchi) and regular kimchi. Service was prompt and the soup came out very quickly — 10 minutes TOPS. The broth is mild so there’s an option to add in green onions, salt and hot paste to placate your palate. I recommend adding all three to maximize the ox tail soup flavor. You can even scoop your rice into the bowl or be a rice dipper(scoop rice into a spoon and dip it into the broth) like I am. Everything here reminded me of a home cooked meal. This is definitely as authentic as you can get and the pricing here is affordable. $ 10 for a giant bowl of soup and all the kimchi you want gets a thumbs up from me. Pssst they also service soju here. Drink at your own risk.

This was my second time coming here and I wanted to try something else other than the Sul Lung Tang. My girlfriend and I decided to get the Mool Neng Myun and Galbi Tang, with Wang Mandoo for appetizers. First off the side kimchi here is great! The Kakdoogi(Radish Kinchi) is perfect for all types of beef broth soups. The Wang Mandoo was an incredible waste of money. For $ 10 I expected more than 6 dumplings. Not to mention that the dumplings were filled more with veggies than meat. It tasted subpar at best, and was very disappointed at the price point. Moving on to the Galbi Tang, I was considerably disappointed with the taste. Galbi tang is supposed to have a deep flavor of beef similar to phở but saltier. However this was more of a short rib mushroom soup. All I could taste was mushrooms because they put sooooooo many in it. It was quite overwhelming and I couldn’t enjoy my food because of the intense mushroom scent. All in all don’t order anything else but the Sul Lung Tang here.

This place was very disappointing 9 dollars for a small soup that had not too much meat or noodles, which wouldn’t be too much of a problem if the soup and meat were flavor full, but they were incredibly bland

For the price… not worth it The service is great. They bring out the food fast which is good. The food however is pretty basic. In my opinion, its overpriced for its quality. The naeng-myun is on the sweet side. The shul lung tangs are pretty good but not great. I think there are more better korean restaurants in that area. Han bat shul lung tang is should be your third or last choice.

I love this place! Best place if you are looking for something soupy or trying to recover from a hangover. Their sul-lung-tang is quite good and so is their kimchi! And servers are very friendly. And it’s quick.

One of my favorite places to eat home style Korean food! I come here quite frequently with my bf and we loveeee their soup. People might ask, «why is this place so popular» well my answer is «go read the article about this place!» The soup is basically just broth base made of beef and when they bring it to your table, you garnish it with green onions, salt, and the red sauce. I personally just need some green onions and eat it plainly with kimchi. Their kimchi is really good and the radish kimchi is even better! What makes this soup? No MSG and clean broth! Oh and please try their steamed dumplings. It’s really good!

Ordered wang mandoo(dumpling) and mool neag nyun(cold noodle). 1.mandoo: its ok. Looks reminds me of korea. Big enough. But, tastes more cabbage than meat. Usually dumplings are tasty bcuz of juicy meats, u will taste veggies… Price was too pricy for this quality. 2. Cold noodle: I like the skinny noodle here but the soup is wired. The noodle its self is definitely something special. A post says that they hand made the noodle. However, the soup does not tastes like beef broth at all(maybe the soup is not beef broth at all). Over all, I think this place is more like a Korean family restaurant. if u r looking for something authentic, better to try somewhere else. (-.-)

If you are as white as I am, you must experience this place for how much you will feel an ‘otherness’ here. You are the outsider. You will be the only non-korean here & it is so interesting. They are kind & helpful & you will have the most amazing beef bone soup here. It comes to the table practically salt-free, there’s a giant tub of sea salt on the table for you to salt it to your own taste. Get a side of those impossibly large, specifically korean & delicious dumplings. The kim chi is insanely garlicy here, very strong(usually I can handle kim chi but not here). We love coming to this place on the coldest day or when fighting a bug– there is nothing more warming & soothing than this rich beef bone soup.

I have to update my review — the sollong-tang really hit the spot today for me as I am still getting over a cold. Got the mixed beef broth with a side of steamed mandu to share with my husband. I appreciate the simplicity of the menu now, as they really focus on their broth soups. I like how it comes out very simple and bland, but you can fix it with sea salt, chili paste and/or green onions to your taste. Sometimes light and bland is just what the doctor ordered. This is the place to go for some good, quality broth soup!

There is maybe about twelve items on the menu, all consists of a dish with broth except for two which are dumplings(mandu). We went with their ‘most popular’ — seol leong tang with intestines, brisket, tongue. The broth needed salt, pepper to bring out more flavor. For ~$ 10, if you don’t mind filling up on unlimited white rice, broth and kimchi, you can totally get the best bang for your buck.

Review from Sept 2013: Never even heard of Seolleongtang before finding this place, so I was excited to be introduced to this new cuisine. This hearty, brothy soup pits mild flavors against comforting levels of homeyness. Delicate and satisfying, although I’m more of a big, bold flavors kind of guy. Reminded me of a less-interesting bowl of Phở. If a big, warm bowl of soup is your cup of tea, this place is definitely for you.

This some serious stuff. Especially since it has been cold as of late, this restaurant’s delicious hot soups are very much appreciated! As per the name, the place specializes in sul lung tang(a hot white soup that has noodles and your choice of meat); on one occasion, I chose brisket. On my second visit, I had mandoo(dumplings filled with meat) soup. Both were on cold, rainy days and really hit the spot. I never had sul lung tang before, so I didn’t know what to expect; I simply ordered what my Korean friends were ordering. Taste-wise, it was surprisingly subtle but still delicious. I honestly thought that it would be that spicy/garlicky/in-your-face taste that I’ve come to expect from Korean food, but no – just really subtle. Nevertheless, the broth still had a lot of flavor. And the mandoo in the mandoo soup were huge! When I ordered the soup, I thought they would be the size of those potstickers that you would find in the frozen section of Costco, but nope. They were generously stuffed with meat and the dumpling wrappers were nice and thin. Overall, I really liked both dishes! And I’m glad my friends knew of this place, because since the area is full of Korean restaurants, I probably wouldn’t have found it on my own. But seriously, I recommend it, especially while its still cold in DFW!
