Went here today because someone recommend this spot. I will never ever go here again. I had the beef tips, rice and gravy with greens and Mac and cheese. The greens tasted like they were poured straight out of the can and the Mac and cheese along with everything else had no type of seasoning. My husband had the bake chicken. He threw his whole plate in the garage. The best thing that had was the tea and lemonade. Sorry but Sweet Georgia Brown got you beat. $ 25 gone down the drain.

Hmmm, where should I start. The food was sub par. The fried chicken had no seasoning, the greens were absolutely gross. The yams weren’t good and had lots of sugar… I thought I was going to get diabetes on the spot. The mac and cheese is also on the DONOTEAT list. Who can’t make macaroni and cheese? Kraft macaroni and cheese seems 4 star compared to this stuff. All meals come with a drink – sweek tea or KOOLAID… yep, that’s right. It was also diabetes prone. Definitely will not be going back.

I found this place because I was in the area for the circus. I had the smothered pork chop, greens and black-eyed peas. My son had chicken tetrazzini, yams and mac and cheese(I know a lot of starch). It was his night so I let him have whatever he wanted. He loved everything and said the lemonade was the best he ever had. Lol I won’t go that far but the food was good. Too bad they are so far away. I tried his mac and cheese and I must say I’ve had better. I was a little turned off when I looked at the greens because I could tell they were frozen but they were seasoned good and I got past that real quick. If I’m in the area I will definitely be back.

This family owned soul food gem is tucked away in a quiet strip mall in Oak Cliff. But don’t let the unimaginative exterior fool you. Inside dwells the epicenter of Dallas soul cuisine. Sweet Georgia Brown’s might get more attention, but the food here is 100 times better! First off they have hot water cornbread!(What?!) If you have never had hot water corn bread do yourself a favor and get some. You will soon be addicted like I am. And the always have black eyed peas and FRESH collard greens.(What?!) And on Sundays you can get a meat, 3 sides, AND dessert AND a drink for around $ 10.(What?!) Speaking of Sundays you should probably Avoid this place like the plague after church though. The location is surrounded by several churches and folks flock to get their post worship grub on. All of their entrees & sides-from the chicken tetrazzini to the baked chicken– are fresh and never greasy. And the desserts, while not stand outs, are pretty tasty. Definitely worth a trip to Oak Cliff to check them out!

Lisa is one of the best soul food places to go to in the Oakcliff area. I love their food. A family oriented atmosphere.

Wow. So I had a craving for Lisa’s yet again. Just as before, I have not been disappointed. This time I had the chicken fried steak, macaroni and cheese, mustard greens, and a roll. I’ve yet to taste anything below par.

Not my favorite soul food place They have rude customer service , servers are very short with you! I only go because it’s closer to home, the portions are a lot smaller than sweet Georgia browns. The food is very bland. You get a meat, 3 sides, drink & dessert for a decent price. I love their pineapple upside down cake. But I think last time was the last time i Rather drive across town

Okay. Where do I begin. First and foremost it’s in a slightly rundown shopping Plaza across from a McDonald’s and next door to a Family Dollar. Not hard to find but not easy either. The restaurant is cafeteria style. You get one meat and three sides. You also get a free dessert or a free drink. I got the smothered pork chop, mustard greens, broccoli and cheese casserole and Mac and cheese. You get a choice of cornbread or a roll. I got the cornbread. I chose dessert and got chocolate cake with caramel sauce on top. When I got all that for $ 10 I started to give 5stars off the bat! I had to calm my excitement and try the food first. On a very positive note. This food is definitely HOMECOOKING. It taste as though it was made with love. I appreciate the photo of Lisa with her grown sons who apparently own and operate this black owned business. I love that. The smothered pork chop was not as tasty as it looked. But I know that’s a good thing because it taste like it was good for me… You know that healthy taste. Not bad just not mind blowing or life changing. Slightly bland… No extra salt. The Mac and cheese was velveta tasting. It’s not my thing I prefer rich creamy sharp cheesy Mac and cheese. The greens and casserole was 5 star. The corn bread was the bomb. Com omg that cornbread is the best I’ve had in Dallas. Crispy all around the edges… Yum. The cake… Yes… The cake. The caramel sauce had pecans in it… Yessssss… All in all I will be back! After eating my mouth and hands weren’t shinning with left over grease like other cafeteria style restaurants(you know who you are) At Lisa’s you can enjoy soul food without feeling like your one step closer to a heartattach with a side of high blood pressure. MUSTTRYLISA’S!!!

A little overpriced for canteen style food. Like an Old Country Buffet with less choice. Food OK but my major complaint is that it’s not hot. To be fair the place is busy with local clientele and has a good ambience but the food is definitely below par.

Today was the first time I tried«Lisa’s Soul Food Café»… I had the yummy fried fish with macaroni and cheese, turnip greens, and cabbage… The cornbread muffin was so good that I had finished it before I knew it and had most of my meal still left… Next time I will have to ask for more than one cornbread muffin!!! Everything was fresh and super yummy!!! Your meal comes with a dessert or a drink… I had the«Sweet Potato Chess Pie»… I will eat there again, and I recommend you try«Lisa’s Soul Food Café» if you love delicious home cooking!!!
