Lollie Bombs Burlesque

Man, some folks have some serious body issues. Boo for body shaming! All bodies are beautiful bodies.
I personally love the Lollie Bombs. They are one of Dallas’ oldest burlesque troupes and are so fun to watch. For those who are uninitiated, there are several types of burlesque and the Lollie’s are not part of the traditional branch. They are one of the many variations that came with the neo-​burlesque revival which is why some refer to their style as plain «neo-​burlesque». All of the routines are based on a story line and aren’t so much based on the lavish costuming, makeup and hair found in traditional, but are a lot more punk rock and avant garde. I love that the ladies are all tatted up and do numbers that pay homage to the circus sideshows of yore. (OMG, I can’t believe that I just used the word «yore». It sounds like I’m carrying around a friggin’ lute!) The Lollies hold their shows at Pocket Sandwich Theater every other month and there is not really a bad seat in the house, plus you can’t beat free parking. Also, get ready for some audience participation, fun, and games. For those wondering, no you do not have to tattooed and all rock-​n-​roll to enjoy their shows. I would say the majority are very much all-​American couples out to have a great time.

I saw them perform at t Pocket Sandwich Theater. Great show! The girls were all incredibly nice to the fans after the show and their performances showed a sense of humor that many burlesque performers lack.

I was aware of burlesque performances before I was guided to the Lollie Bombs but I always thought of them as pre-​historic strip shows where little was revealed. This may have been the case in the Prohibition but the modern Lollie Bombs bring a whole new element of cool sexiness to this type of performance.
Let’s be clear this burlesque performance rarely reflect your grandfathers strip experience. These women are bad-​asses with cool tattoos, suggestive moves coordinated with speed metal tunes, and a biting sense of humor. They come in all shapes and sizes but are damned fun and sexy all at once.
Ok, you may think this is some sort of man-​centric lust-​fest but I am here to attest that the audience is half full of women, hooting and hollering as the performers remove their elaborate costumes to their pasties. Think Flashdance meets 9 ½ weeks with a side dish of Marilyn Manson.
The Lollies play many local events but often appear that the Pocket Sandwich theater at 11pm on weekends. Do yourself a favor and cap off of fun evening with a performance. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!
