LOVE this place… BUT…this location at Forest Lane is closed. The closest one is at Northpark Mall: 8687 N Central Expy, #1804, Dallas TX214.389.9520. They have another one on Preston Rd @ Plano Parkway in Plano 972.818.2727. Their green salsa is to die for… and the sour cream chicken enchiladas and fajitas… LARAPIN!

We went yesterday at the one located at the Harbor Rockwall. The service was great, the food just fine, expensive for what it is, nothing special. The very bad thing… they charged us for a tiny little bit of salsa 2 dlls!!! we never were told! we just asked the waiter if he had a more spicy salsa and then they said that salsa is very expensive! We couldn’t believe it. Unfortunately these details make a bad reputation and we will never go back! We didn’t enjoy it!

is this a joke? by far the worst mexican food i had living in dallas. place should be sitting at 1 star for everybody. i lived at the apartments right next to this place(or rather on top of?) and went here once. and i love getting drunk at places i can walk to. the food was so egregious(for the price) that i could never go back for the smell would induce a level of vomitting i only experienced while on jaeger and shrooms. in all honesty, this place charges $ 12 for enchiladas that you can get across from the street at matitos for $ 8. and those suck too, but at least they know what they are. LDN wants to think it’s fancy, but it’s basically like on the border for the M O O N crowd. that spells moon. do not eat here unless youre drunk. even then, just stumble across the street to chipotle and you’ll be better served. like seriously do not go here. this is mexican food for minnesotans, you can do better with 7⁄11 taquitos

I was visiting the area on business for a few weeks and decided to check this place out. I enjoyed the atmosphere, very chill and relaxing. Their mojitos were pretty good as were their chips and salsa. I could go on forever about those pork shanks that I ordered. Basically the pork tacos — I didn’t use the tortillas(low-carb, bro). Outstanding. Perfectly cooked meat with incredible flavors and boldness. Excellent avocado soup as well. No complaints with the service, which was average. The price is a little steeper than was I traditionally pay for Mexican, but I guess it’s somewhat justified given the vibe the restaurant attempts to give off. Not to mention the quality of the food. Definitely wouldn’t mind going back whenever I’m in town again.

Yummy chips & salsa. Do NOT get the stuffed jalapenos appetizer…$ 9 for a handful of jalapenos that tasted like their frozen supermarket counterparts is not a great choice. The staff was really friendly and quick, and the food was decent(did I mention do NOT get the stuffed jalapenos?). I ordered the camarones de la casa, and my bf ordered the moon fajitas. both tasty! The rice with my camarones tasted like cardboard though. but dump salsa on it and I was happy enough. We used a groupon for this meal, but otherwise I’m not sure I would splurge this much on «okay» food. PS, sopapillas were ok too…

I had the most awful dinner at this place and will NEVER go back. The waiter was totally incompetent, did not understand English or the menu. Eventually I had to point at what I wanted and still the waiter didn’t understand. In his confusion, the waiter left the menus at our table and walked away! When I removed the menus to the table next to ours, the manager had an absolute fit and claimed I was rude for removing the menus!.(huh?) The food was only average and over-priced. The plastic vinyl table clothes which replaced the linen ones they used to use are an indication of where this restaurant is headed. This restaurant is a shadow of what it used to be and it used to have a good clientele, the clientele have all justifiably moved on. I live around Preston Forest and you can do better than this place.

Went with coworkers to Luna during dinner. I loved that they mix fresh guacamole right in front of you! It was yummy! I had ordered the Chicken Chile Relleno and really enjoyed it!

The only things that saves this restaurant from one star were the margaritas and the atmosphere was most excellent. The service was pitiful, especially with all of the staff running around and hardly anyone else in the place. My date’s dish off of the«gourmet» menu was bone dry, but otherwise decent. I had the«best seller» sour cream chicken enchiladas. They are honestly better at Taco Bell. Seriously. There was hardly any sauce on them, they were bone dry inside and just plain BLAND! The refried beans were soupy, guacamole and rice were both bland. How this place stays in business just confounds me.

Lack of vegetarian options. Each time I go in, I get a different response to the question«Are your beans and rice that accompany a meal vegetarian, meaning zero chicken/beef stock, etc?». Margaritas are good. Atmosphere is good. Food is above average. I would certainly return. Had great vegetarian chimichangas that they made off the menu for us.

Quite pleasant. Nothing to write home about, but I’d go back for the chips and salsas alone — especially the scary-looking green salsa. The margaritas are just ok — they’re a little weak, so I’d have a hard time paying the non-happy hour $ 8 for one(HH is only $ 4). They offer the«skinny» variety, but only in top-shelf, which will run you $ 13 to cut some calories… Long story short, I arrived an hour and a half early for my dinner with some girlfriends, but the staff was kind enough to allow me to go ahead and sit at a table to finish up on my work while I waited. I see why it wasn’t an issue since sadly, there were never more than 5 tables of patrons the entire evening. Regardless, the waitress was super sweet, and just attentive enough without interrupting my effort to wrap up some work stuff. The Xochitl soup is every bit as good as other reviews say — but let it steep a bit, otherwise your first bite will taste like nothing more than spicy chicken stock. The«#1 selling Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas» were very underwhelming. I’m definitely not a fan of the goupey cheesy sour cream sauce. It reminded me of something that would come straight out of a can. Other than the enchiladas, our meal was great. Service was great for me while I waited prior to the meal, but unfortunately kind of took a turn for the worse when my friends arrived — nothing horrible, just lackluster. Overall, I’d love to go back for happy hour and to eat my weight in chips and salsa.

I used to be a decent fan of Luna De Noche but wnet there for lunch today and was underwhelmed. The table salsa came in individual sized cups which I usually love but they were all only about 1⁄3 full of salsa which I found strange. Our server was ok, but had an odd pacing to her if that makes sense. Kind of the disappear for a while and then show back up 3 times in 5 minutes to make up for her disappearance. Those couple things weren’t big deals at all and the prices were fine, but I ordered their nachos and was very underwhelmed. Not a lot of cheese, the beans weren’t warm, etc. They were edible but not good. This used to be one of my favorites years ago, so I will definitely give them another shot and not let this one time experience get me too down on them, but as of today, I wasn’t impressed.

This restaurant is a good standby if you don’t have dinner plans and want a good comfort-food kind of meal. It’s definitely not authentic Mexican, but a pretty decent Tex-Mex. Their Xochitl(So-cheel) soup is delicious, they have the fixings in the bowl and bring the broth steaming hot to pour at the table — think Tortilla Chicken Soup-esque! I often get a coupon off which is a great value to use here. The Sour Cream Enchiladas are their number 1 seller, however I find them too rich and generic tasting — not authentic Mexican flavors going on here. Salsa and Chips are very good — I’d be happy going here for Happy Hour with coworkers for a drink and appetizers.

As a serious Mexican food fan, this review is tough, but neccessary, in my opinion. While I really like the food at Luna De Noche, the service is consistently terrible. My friend and I went there for lunch today, giving them one more try, and it was awful. The restaurant was empty and it was only two of us at the table and the waitress STILL got our order wrong! The waitstaff just stands around laughing and dancing, we were really disappointed. In a town where there are so many choices when it comes to Mexican/Tex-Mex, losing business for bad service is nothing to dance around about. Sorry.

What is the issue with parking lot lighting lately? Luna’s was out last night but thank goodness I found a spot in the front row. My work used to be around the corner from this place so I’ve been several times for lunch. Last night, I had a craving for their Xochitl soup. This location has a Sunday special where you can get any enchilada plate for 6.99! That’s a pretty great deal if enchiladas is your thing. Sunday night was ½ full, or ½ empty depending on your outlook, but tons of kiddos! Chips and 2 bowls of red salsa and 1 of the green hit the table soon after we were sat. The green salsa had a suspect piece of chip laying in the middle of it. Not just floating on top like it had been broken off, but IN the salsa. When the waiter arrived, I ordered a house margarita and some more green salsa please. For the record, the marg was sorta weak. My friend decided I was on the right track and also ordered a bowl of Xochitl soup. All the chicken broth based soups are awesome since they bring the bowl with the soup goodies, and wait to pour in the broth table side. Really heightens the aromatics. Put your face close enough to the bowl and I’m sure you could get a good facial going on. There was a large family near us who ordered the table side guacamole.(10 bucks!!! so redic) But they were getting SO excited watching him make it. No joke, one of the older men pulled out an SLR camera and was snapping pictures. Bowls of soup were 7, marg was 4. This is one of my cheaper moments at Luna.(Lunch at the NP location ran us 50 once.) Not a bad place, and this location is pretty lax during the dinner and weekend hours.

LDN is close by my office, so it’s sometimes convenient to hit the place up for lunch. Their original location is in Richardson on Lookout and IMO it is their best. Walk in and you’re greeted by a dark, warm continental Mexican décor. The staff is all dressed in black so I guess it makes the place fancy(sarcasm). Shortly after being seated, you’re greeted by wait staff that brings out warm chips and a pretty darned good homemade salsa, spicy at about a 3 outta ten scale. The menu is varied– some selections outright don’t please me, while others are pretty outstanding. Faves of mine are their avocado soup and their fajitas are good as well. Chicken enchiladas in a cream sauce are delish but very rich. If you’re in a group, the combo appetizer is a good way to start. You pay a bit for their atmosphere– this ain’t the cheapest Tex-Mex in town nor is it IMO the best. Still, it’s solid and worth a visit if you’re nearby.

Great Atmosphere, elegant and refined place. BUT the food didnt have anything special. I ordered the beef shanks, with a spicey rub… what i got was beef shanks with a red sauce over it. blahhhhhhhhhh to the bone… no flavor, no spice, just tasted like meat with tasteless red paste slabbed on. My friend had some brisket tacos, which were ok, totally lost me, cause i was expecting so much better … esp when they have so many ads with ex cowboys saying how good this place is. lol tony casias needs to give me back 40 $

Not a favorite. I’ve been twice and both times their food disappointed me. The first time, I got the chicken fajitas(a favorite choice of mine) but they were overcooked and bland. The second time I got flautas but the chicken was chewy and the rice was cold. Also, I’ve never had super service there. The place puts on airs but doesn’t deliver. There are better places to find good mexican food in town.

I have to review Luna and not sound exactly like my sister(Amy). Unfortunately, this might sound exactly like my sister. To avoid it, I didn’t read her review before posting. The main reason I go to Luna is for their chips and salsa and tortilla soup. I don’t feel bad filling up on their chips and salsa because it is SO good. Their chips are usually really warm and freshly cooked to perfection. Their salsa is the best around(Joe T. Garcia’s in Ft. Worth beats it, but they are so far away…). It is not too hot and has really good flavor. The tortilla soup is probably the best tortilla soup I’ve ever had. They bring you a bowl of the goodies – chicken, BIG chunks of avocado(my favorite), and crispy tortilla strips. Then the broth gets poured over all of that right at your table. This makes the tortilla strips and avocado perfect, not soggy. Their entrees are really great, too. I usually split either the Rudy’s Request or La Luna Tacos. Both are great. Rudy’s is 3 corn tortilla pork tacos, and La Luna Tacos are really good flour tortillas with either beef or chicken(I get combo) and all the fixin’s. Both come with rice and beans(really good rice and beans I might add). I hate flan. Well… I thought I hated flan. It is usually mushy and kind of too wet and just unappetizing. However… flan at Luna is SO good. They make it perfect. You definitely have to save room for this. There it is… hope I don’t sound too much like my sissy.
