I don’t know what what happened to this restaurant, it used to be one of my faves. I came here for my birthday with family and the two of us that ordered the mahi mahi were disappointed. The fish was overcooked and instead of the sweet potato mash we were served mushy slices of overly seasoned sweet potato. When we asked the waiter about it his response was«they changed the menu, a lot of people have complained about it». My husbands burger was overcooked and the green pie dessert was underwhelming. I honestly don’t think I’ll be coming back, which is sad because Maguire’s has been a go-to for birthdays and family get togethers for many years. :(

Service is great and I never feel rushed when I’m here. Escargot us beautifully buttered and cooked to perfection– next best thing to Paris! Cocktails are great and happy hour offers great deals without skimping on quantity. Flatbread is more like chopped up buffalo style chicken but has a gray crispy bread. Crème brûlée is creamy and candy crispy on top. The fruit with the grand marnier sauce is absolutely to die for — I could drink the sauce by itself!

It was my first time during Christmas Eve and it didn’t disappoint. We were seated further past the bar area so the ambience was more private. Can’t go wrong with Calamari, it was really tasty and the portions were great. My favorite was their Scallops which were really tender and flavorful. Four pieces of it were laid out very nicely with brocolli on a big plate. The presentation was perfect. TIP: The back area is too dark for food photography so if you love taking food pics you might wanna request to be seated at the front-center where lighting is better. But if you’re going for privacy or out on an intimate date, then go for the back area. The Mahimahi dish was also perfectly light yet delightful to the palate. I find their steak to be a bit bland and dry, but I’m not a big fan of steaks anyways. My nieces had fries and chicken which also came in good portions. The server was really accommodating too. She even gladly took our photos a few times. Overall, it was a great dining experience.

Great spot for a business lunch. Have not tried dinner or brunch but it is one of my go to places for a lunch meeting in far North Dallas. Dining area is full of business people at lunch and best to make a reservation ahead of time. Pricing is reasonable and the food is excellent. Pistachio encrusted Mahi Mahi is one of my favorites.

Our first time here for dinner with old and new friends. There were six of us and we were seated in a semi-private room. Our service was top notch. The menu looked awesome but I was feeling like something light. The Arizona salad looked like a good choice. Bam! This was a perfect selection with the lox salmon on top. My wife’s crusted mahi mahi was wonderful and the other entrees all looked tempting. Everyone had a smile as we toped off the meal with a table shared chocolate soufflé. This place is a bit of a hike from our home but it is well worth the drive. We will be back!

I was here for a friends birthday. I ordered the center cut ribeye with Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. My steak and potatoes were not very good. Luckily the birthday boy was hungry so I gave it to him :-). The Brussel sprouts were delicious! My husband ordered the meatloaf and grits. He said the meatloaf was delicious! I tried his jalapeño cheese grits and they were absolutely DELICIOUS! I usually eat my grits plain but no more! YUMYUM! Our service wasn’t the best I’ve had. It took her quite a while to get our order and she wasn’t as attentive as I would have liked. Not sure if I will come back to this restaurant.

I would come back here alone just for the jalapeño cheese grits. Nothing short of perfection! Super creamy, not gritty, with a touch of cheesy spiciness. I also had the meatloaf which was superb. It was moist and drizzled with mushrooms and sauce. I opted for the asparagus but those were very dry and unseasoned. The Texas Star martini was delish! It is made with Tito’s vodka, cucumbers, cranberry and St. Germaine. I went during brunch and they had a jazz band. I will most definitely be back.

Decided to stop into this location tonight based on the 4 star reviews and so many of my fellow Unilocalers recommendation. Overall it was an ok visit and worth trying. I think with the right server it would have been a better experience. The food quality seems like it would normally be good just a few minor issues with ours might be a one off. We may try this location again to see if the experience is different in the future… I will update the review if we do. Atmosphere 1 Star Service ½ Star Food ¾ Star Price vs Value of Experience ¾ Star Atmosphere The attire is business casual to dressy. We sat on the other side away from the bar area which was very loud at 6:30pm on a Thur evening. The table was spacious and I appreciated being able to move the table and did not feel cramped. It was easy to have a conversation at our table even with other dinners who came in. If you are near the bar it might be tough to hear your dining guest. The location does have free valet service. Service There was a mix of service experience during our visit. The young lady who took our reservation by phone and met us upon entry was great. She was friendly and had positive energy. She thanked us for coming upon leaving and just seemed great. Frankly I kinda wish she had been our server. Our actual server(#52 Banquet) had an extremely dry personality. She had no positive energy or personality supporting the environment. She did nothing to connect with us. She didn’t take any time to ask if we were celebrating anything, is it our first time, nothing to connect with us. I even spoke to her at one point and she ignored what I said and walked away. There was nothing from her service that made us connect with her or the location. Many places we eat you get that connection with the server that just makes it a great visit and you want to go back. Our server performed the mechanics of our dinner properly. She got our order right, kept our beverages filled, followed up on the apps and dinner. So she handled the tasking part of being a server ok. There was another server there we met who helped out bringing items to our table twice that was very nice. I again wish we had her as a server. We watched and listened to her great one of her tables and she was fun, energetic, and lots of personality. Food Just a heads up here they do not have any traditional tea. The ONLY tea they have comes from a bottle and is a strange Chardonnay apricot iced tea and tasted horrible. They also did not even take the tea off the ticket when we complained about it. The server also never told us it was not regular tea when my wife ordered unsweet tea like she does every time we eat out. The server served with no warning and then still charged us for it. My fault for not checking before we paid. The appetizers we ordered were the Crostinis and Calamari. These two appetizers where absolutely great! The Crostinis come as 4 small bite size pieces of toasted bread with a small piece of steak covered with the bearnaise sauce. They were very good and the meat was nice and tender. The Calamari was not crispy like some other places. I thought at first his was going to be bad… then I tried the first one and it was very good. The calamari was not overcooked it was nice and tender. The sauce that came with them was AWESOME. It’s a kinda Thai sticky sauce and was really flavorful. The NY Strip was cooked a perfect medium rare like I ordered. There was a flavor I could not determine on the steak which was not expected since it was ordered with the lobster butter on top. There was a slight hint of maybe a merlot demi glaze that almost went on it. It was still a good steak and I appreciate they cooked it correctly. The yukon smashed potatoes my wife and I both had were way under seasoned. The baby green beans are steamed and tasted normal. The meatloaf itself was very good. It was moist and had good texture not overcooked. The gravy and mushrooms were good. The baby greenbeans cooked well also. We ordered two desserts. The Crème Brulee and the Seasonal Apple Tart. The Apple Tart with the ice cream, caramel, crushed pistachios was AWESOME. All aspects of this desert was well worth it and very tasty. The crème brûlée on the other had was a different story. About half of the crème brûlée was ok. Our issue was the toasted sugar crust on the top was burnt and it made everything under it bitter. We only eat some of it until we hit the bitter part. The food overall was not bad but a few issues with the beverage, seasoning on the potatoes, and the burnt dessert required me to reduce the score a little. It was still a decent meal though. Price vs Value of Experience The prices are about average for this style of restaurant. However, with the mediocre service, burnt dessert, and seasoning on the sides I feel we over paid slightly for what we received.

Made reservations here to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Bored-seeming high school greeter had a poor phone presence when she called to confirm. Seated quickly, arrived at time of reservation. Restaurant was moderately busy, seemed loud by the bar. Waitress was friendly, couldn’t hear all of her descriptions over background noise, but she was happy to repeat more slowly. Had the flat bread appetizer — tasty, but was on a thin cracker-like substance. Maguire’s salad is always tasty — blue cheese, apples, walnuts, and lettuce. I chose the chef’s special copper salmon over corn risotto — nice. Not as delicious as the sea bass dish I’ve had in the past here, but good. Husband had green chile lasagna, which he said was OK, but didn’t bowl him over. Best part of the meal was the chocolate lava cake! Husband thought the crème brulé was tasty. Overall a good experience, my husband is a sharper critic than I am, and he recommended 2 stars, but I’ll give 3.5. They comped us the lava cake since it was a special celebration for us. Terribly practical husband said he would have preferred whataburger for dinner, then coming here for dessert and coffee.

This is a nice place with valet parking. I tried the Tuesday special which was chicken fried ribeye stuffed with mozzarella cheese and poblano peppers topped with mustard seed gravy. It also came with mashed potatoes that were not very mashed and green beans. The atmosphere was nice, but loud. Food was just ok. Not really fond of the gravy.

I went there for dinner with a group of friends as a birthday celebration. I have very mixed feelings about this place. The staff was very friendly except of our waitress. She definitely had a bad day and seemed to be annoyed with our existence. I ordered two birthday cakes, but unfortunately our waitress got confused and we received two regular desserts. As a consolation, we got them for free. However, two birthday girls never got to think a wish and blow the candles. I am giving 4 start because I really enjoyed the food. I ordered Crispy Fried Calamari with a spicy Thai sticky sauce. It was really tasty, and the sauce was not really spicy what for me was a nice surprise. For main course I had Margarita Chicken. At the first glance, my dish didn’t look appealing but I enjoyed the combination of chicken and cooked cherry tomatoes served on a bed of couscous.

We frequent Maguire’s on a regular basis. From their signature Saladto the hand cut on premesis Filets everything is top notch. Not only is the red meat excellent but Chef has some excellent Seafood items on the Menu. Service is great and the servers all know the off Menu specials. The bar pours good Drinks. It’s also a great place for a Family Supper or a Working Lunch in their Private Dining Area. Try their Meat Loaf or the Double Cut Pork Chop. You won’t be dissapointed.

Mixed feelings about this place. My wife and I arrived around 6:45pm for our 7pm reservation on a Saturday night, and the place was dead. We were seated quickly but service was not the fastest. Our waitress took a while to come to us to take our order, and never checked in on us after our food was served. The food was good. I had the salmon, which was perfectly cooked and came with an amazing side of shrimp/crab rice and broccoli. The rice was amazing — almost outshining the salmon. My wife had a chicken penne pasta dish which was mediocre. The pork wontons were very tasty — I feel like calling it a wonton is a little misleading, it’s more like a tortilla chip with pulled pork and slaw on it, but still they were very good. The jalapeño in the slaw is a nice touch to spice things up a bit. I did have one drink there — they have their own version of a Moscow Mule that has ginger liquor rather than ginger beer — I’ll never drink it again. It tasted more like black licorice than anything else. Overall, the menu is pretty diverse, the food is good enough, and the service is average. I’d go back but I’m not in a hurry to head back.

I went here one Saturday night looking for a yummy restaurant in the Frisco, TX area. I must say it was just alright. We decided to sit in a booth in the bar area. Typically, this can get you faster service, but despite it not being busy, the service seemed kind of slow. Now granted we didn’t know what we wanted to order so we did have to tell the waiter to come back, but that seemed to bother him a bit. My boyfriend & I decided to try some smaller dishes and share them. We loved the escargot, but found the fried green tomatoes to be a little bland. The jalapeño cheese grits were the same way. No flavor & definitely not spicy at all. My sister tried the penne a la fresca. It tasted like something I could’ve made at home. If I’m out at a nice restaurant, I expect a little bit more pizzazz from the basic ingredients that are included in this dish.

Great they are open on turkey day — great deal for a 3 course meal for $ 38 total. I am opting for the two appetizers the beef tenderloin and smoked salmon. The menu looks great and the place is packed To the rafters. They also have complimentary valet parking to book. This is a better start to visiting my family for turkey day than I hopped for.

Maguire’s is great. We live closeby, and consider it a dependable, classy place, to get great service, food and drinks. Last night we visited, and had their Flatbread, which they feature daily in different fashions. Last nights combo had a garlic cheese spread, and roasted chicken, tomatoes and feta. It was delicious! For din I had their Mahi Mahi, which was very fresh and breaded with pistachios. It came with a side of green beans and sweet potatoes, which were both good, though the potatoes were a little too sweet for me(tasted like they incorporated brown sugar or maple into them-not bad, just not my fav). My hubby had their Meatloaf, which he’s been enjoying for years and said it’s always consistent. Beyond yummy food, they also have a great bar, where we actually ended up eating. They have every standard liquor you could desire, including interesting flavors like Jalapeño infused Vodka. Last night was a Friday, and I’m pretty sure on both Friday and Saturday night they have live music-jazz was last night-a very nice add to the ambience. You can’t go wrong at Maguire’s-the type of place you can wind-down with great food, in a great atmosphere.

Originally I became aware of this place from business lunches. It’s a nice atmosphere for north Dallas business dining. At lunch, suites are seated all around the white table cloths. However, it isn’t a mandatory and casual attire is accepted. the lunch clientele is probably an 8:1 male female ratio. The service has always been above average. Evening servers are more chatty and show more personalities. Lunch service is more about operating in the background so you can discuss business. I have never eaten anything I didn’t like. My associate normally orders a fish sandwich. These aren’t a staple on the menu but the staff is always happy to accommodate with a variety of choices of fish and ways to prepare. They have half-priced wine nights! Thursdays and Sundays but you might want to call and check as they occasionally change. The Maguires has been a go-to of mine for years. It is located well off the tollway. The steak, trout(Monday special) and evening beef crostini(Hollandaise and merlot sauce) won’t disappoint. Shoe string french fries are also delish. Parking can get crowded at happy hour. I do wish the bar was much larger(deduct 1 star). It’s very comparable to Houston’s. Entrees aren’t as memorable and the facility isn’t as dark but a great spot for lunch that takes reservations.
