Went to this place while visiting Dallas on business. We were there for about 20 minutes, I bought ONE drink, and forgot to close my tab. I called about 15 minutes after leaving and the person who picked up insisted they didn’t have my card, so I cancelled it that night. Fast forward two days. I check my bank statement and see a $ 180.02 charge. Never signed a thing and no way in hell one beer costs that much(even though this place is crazy overpriced). Did a quick search and it to my surprise I see multiple reviews showing that things like this happen there all the time here. Good to know I’m not alone… Called my bank and filed a claim, but still waiting for it to settle. Don’t go here. Ever.

A few weeks back, a friend convinced me to head out on a Saturday night for drinks and some music. I am a house head and still current on the electronic dance scene primarily from the comfort of my living room. In my 40’s now and I am just too old to be out till 4AM clubbing. Anyway, after some convincing, I gave in and we headed out. Our first stop, and the subject of this writing, was Mantus. The Door Bouncer was professional. We got right in. So far so good. The Venue The setup is a bit strange. You walk down stairs to another set of doors then into a very small club. The place was busy but not packed. The crowd was not overly dressy and the girl 2 guy ratio was not in the proper proportions. The club was clean. There was nothing remarkable or particularly memorable about the space. The Sound Ok, I am a stickler for sound systems. This one is bad. The base is too punchy, the mids are harsh, and the volume was too loud to promote interaction. Owners, a good sound system allows you to feel the music throughout the club while still being able to have a conversation. People go to clubs to interact, flirt, dance, and have fun. It was so loud, meaningful interaction was impossible. The DJ If you are a DJ and you are tempted to pick up the microphone and say something. Just don’t. This is not a wedding. We don’t care. Play good music. Also, there is a sync button. If you can’t beatmatch, use it. Finally, in your software, it will tell you what key the current song is in, match that(within a key or two) to the next song so that the transition is pleasant to the ears. Wait, nothing is pleasant to your ears on this sound system. I give up! We ended up going across the street to Plush. Much better sound and DJ. Very young crowd. I was in bed by 1AM. I think I will just get my house music fix from my phone while working out. Check out Hed Kandi on the Ministry of Sound Radio iPhone App(Android too). VERYGOODSTUFF — and free!

Don’t use your credit card here!!! Get cash across street at Chase. The nominal ATM bank fees you will pay if you don’t bank with Chase are nothing compared to extra fees on your cc.

I’ve never seen this place with a good crowd, always empty, maybe I’m going on the wrong day? Too overpriced and loud to sit in an empty club with just the bar staff and dj…

Oh Mantus, good ol Mantus. Home of the club rats and downtown ratchets. Good music, overpriced drinks, and in major need of renovation. Cool venue and always a good time though.

I went here for a group bday party. The staff was amazing and friendly. The lay out is very trendy and different. It’s also very clean which is something I look for in a club so I can sit down instead of having to stand the whole time. We had a great time here. The crowd is always attractive. Before going, check out their website to see what they offer that night. They mix it up all the time.

I think the whole town knew I had an awesome time that night… but I know I ended up at Mantus. I lost my friends but I managed to contact them and they said they were at Mantus and that I bought a VIP booth… go figure lol spent a pretty penny there but we were taken care of… I don’t believe I even had to wait in line I just walked in and they acted like they knew me when I am not even from Dallas and was just visiting for the night. This place also plays EDM which is a huge plus if you like that genre.

My boyfriend and I wanted to go dancing on a friday night and we passed this spot. The door dude was polite and said it gets busy around midnight. It was no cover for me but my bf had to pay $ 10, not bad at all. It was very clean and modern inside, we loved it. It was pretty dead around 11:30, but a trendy crowd started trickling in. I would say the average age was 21 – 27 maybe. 12:00 pm rolls around and it’s getting busy but no one was dancing. 12:30 and still no one was dancing… So we left. I had a buttery nipple and a rum n coke, by bf had 2 rum n cokes and the tab came out to $ 5.00!!! What!!! I don’t know if that was a mistake but I’m not complaining. I would like to try this place on a Saturday tho.

People who don’t dance with the opposite sex, stay at home. Not the place for you. This has a nice looking crowd. Why are you afraid to dance?

We were in town on Labor Day weekend and decided to go Downtown Dallas to dance. It was a Sunday night. Came across 3 nightclubs all near by each other. Synn, Plush, and Mantus. First we went to Synn, and a strange man at door was there. It was about 11pm. No line and place looked pretty empty from outside. But looked classy so we were thinking to go have a drink at least or maybe two. The promoter at door said there is a cover charge…$ 20 per person. Ummm… it’s a Labor Day weekend and you are dead. really? So we asked for how about ladies. and my BF can pay. Guy said no its $ 20 per person. So we moved on and went to Plush. Plush looked packed and happening so we went in line and meanwhile I thought let me just check it out inside and see. They were charging cover too. So it looks happening but I peaked in and it was empty. They just had people waiting outside to make it look happening. So now we went to Mantus. Looked very upscale from outside. Security at door was nice. He just let us in with no cover. So we were happy about that. The club is downstairs. Has this open roof top side bar and smoking area when you walk down and then there is a double door you go through and it’s awesome. Bar is flowing and music is pumping. It was happening and no cover? Super! Bottle service areas seemed all booked with big groups ready to party. Lighting was good and sound system was great too… By 12:30 this place was packed! Good looking classy dressed stylish groups… and once again .the music was great… techno top 40s. just kept us dancing! Only bad part that I didn’t give 5 stars… drinks are expensive! $ 28 for two patron shots… So no cover… music good… classy upscale people. nice ambiance… but expensive drinks. I think it’s worth it :))

This is one of the strangest, ordinary places I’ve been. I’ll explain… STRANGE: the DOORMAN. No line, and I still don’t get acknowledged. I was made to stand there for a couple of minutes for no specified reason. No one went in… no one came out… he just decided«ok, thats long enough.» When I do get in, I realize the club in no where near packed. ORDINARY: the DOORMAN… they all do this stupid trick where they use people to make them wait in line to give the appearance of a packed club. STRANGE: the layout is the strangest thing about mantus. Its downstairs, and seperated into two small rooms. One is a very small circle. The other is a narrow hall, made ivermore narrow due to exaggerated«tables», and then the room is cut short my a «vip section» that i have seen used ONCE is all my years of going here(a few years ago, I had friends that really enjoyed coming here, so I’ve been enough times to say, that section is a dead space.) ORDINARY: the entire design is like someone tried way to hard, which is the overall feel of the club. The corny blue lights, the huge tables, and the un-used vip section all make for this feel of something its not. Get back to the basics and lower the price of those drinks. I can literally give you the price for my drink at the slip inn, beauty bar, gin mill, old monk, the dram, corner bar, capital, and mantus… **Mantus has the 2nd highest price I’ve seen, being a dollar less than the most expensive place. Everything other location is…(drum role)… $ 4 cheaper than mantus. So for every two drinks I get at Mantus, I could have had a third at a place I actually enjoy. That makes a difference. I’ve been coming here for a decade now and apparently I’m a champion idiot. The last time I was here was when the Mavs won the championship and I woke up with a $ 1400 bar tab and didnt contest it. I went to this shithole again tonight because a friend of mine had a bday party there and the bar straight up stole my credit card. As of now, I have a few hundred bucks pending on my card in addition to the $ 250 I legitimately paid after they supposedly misplaced my card. I advice not going here unless you want to get scammed.

I love mantus. It has a cult following that if you come enough you will fall into it. It’s not for the type of person that likes country and 80’s music so be warned. First timers come with an open mind. You won’t get it at first but then it will make sense, Come to mantus to have an atmosphere where it’s completely empty at 12am and by 1:15ish you can feel the energy in the air to a full cramped house. Listening to the newest funky beats out there brought to you by Willy trimmer 2011 D magazine dj of the year along with Mishal, Johnny 5, habitual and more. Naked Sunday is by far the best night to go. It beats Saturday night out anywhere else. Stay in Saturday go out Sunday They call it the home away from home. It really is. You can go there and you are welcomed like family. Unless you look like a creeper. Pop bottles with models and mingle with the Dallas younger elite. A bit of advise though… Use the bathroom before you get there. It’s small and there are no doors on the stalls. On the plus side, nobody tries to sell you anything in the bathroom either.

Before We came to Dallas, I asked my friend(he had bottle service) what club we were going to, so that i could Unilocal research it.(Its a must for me!) I read a few of em and quickly made my decision that i might not be too fond of this place but still decided to give it a chance… When we arrived, we went up to the line and I thought we would automatically get in since my friend had bottle service. I stand corrected as we waited and watched a line go in. after about 10 – 15 minutes we were let in and BOY was i DISAPPOINTED. i didnt have HIGH expectations of this place but my gosh, how could this place seriously be called an UltarLounge? This place is so tiny! i can only imagine that the about only 50 at tops could fit in this place and be comfortable. I would have given this place one star but instead of the two but the service was good, our waitress was on point and they made sure that our juices were full at all times. The dj was ok. Im not into the whole Fist pump House music which they were playing all night. But i did manage to have fun with my friends. The people there look like they were on the younger crowd. about 18 – 21. Oh and i totally got confused with the whole bathroom situation. I didnt know which door was the ladies because they didnt have a sign! i had to wait til someone came out cause i didnt wnna walk into something i didnt wanna see. Overall since i was with my friends i had a good time. I dont think i would come here otherwise.

I have never been treated as poorly and been as disrespected by ANY club in Dallas in my entire my life. They lost my card, yet CHARGED me for the amount of my tab. And I still have no debit card. The worst part of the night was when the«manager» yelled at me and called me a name that’s not suitable to repeat on Unilocal because he assumed I’d left my card elsewhere and lied. Yet the charge on my card without a doubt proves that he was wrong, AND disrespectful. I will never go back to that sweaty, crowded, sad excuse for an «ultralounge» again. If you’re smart, you’ll do the same. ***UPDATED*** Days later this is still not resolved, but turns out they accidentally gave my debit/credit card to a TOTALSTRANGER! So that explains why they didn’t have it, but doesn’t change the fact that I was charged and had to cancel my card, have to wait over a week for a new one and had to file a claim and STILL have no apology whatsoever. Horrible business practices and disrespectful employees have put them on my permanent poop list :)

FIST-PUMPING at it’s finest. I actually thank Mantus for making me realize I might have grown out of this part of my life. To quote one Sergeant Roger Murtaugh, «I’m too old for this s#*t». First, the club is an ultra lounge trying to attract the beautiful. My rough estimate is that its 20% women, 80% men looking for a hook up. 100% meathead. Walking in, I honestly thought it reminded me of something from Jersey Shore. No lie, the fist pumps were out and everyone loves to wear sunglasses at night. Try not to breathe in too much of the AXE body spray in the air.

Mantus, I want to hate you. I’m too old to «club,» wear short dresses and thrash my hair around like I’m in an Herbal Essences commerical. Or am I??? Caroline H, myself and a few others hit up Mantus on a Friday night. My DJ friend who was there that night told me to come around 11. My first thought was, «That’s when I start winding down most nights out!» Then I wondered if we would even get a table, because *surely* they would packed by then. Crickets were chirping when we walked downstairs. Seriously. We were the first ones there. By the time we left at 12:30ish, the place was just starting to hop. What do you kids do these days to keep up so late?! Geez. Although prices are a wee bit steep, I enjoyed the bartender’s friendly humor and overall we had a great time. Trust me. It’s okay to let your hair down and strap on those high heels every once in a while, even when you think you’re too old.

I’m with most people here that I don’t think much of this place. Getting in for free is probably a bad sign, not a good one. Any good lounge worth its salt costs some dough to get in and has a better layout. This place looks like an after thought to me and I’ve seen better looking people at Walmart.(not that its the clubs fault)… It was busy around 2am and people were on the wannabe dance floor. The music left a lot to be desired for sure. When I was cashing out the bouncers were dragging someone out in a rather forceful fashion right through the crowd to be dumped outside. Classy… It’s probably not fair for me to rate lounges after being in so many in Europe, but a lounge doesn’t mean a bunch of kids having a E-xtra good time to bad music. This place has a terrible layout…
