Came here for dinner on a Friday evening for a birthday dinner. Overall it was just okay for us. It was a cute place with a few tables inside and an extended patio seating outside. Where we sat was extremely dark. We were in the middle under this wooden chandelier that had a few specks of light coming through. So I had to bring out the flashlight on my phone in order to look at the menu. For cocktails, I ordered the Peche Mignon, which was very refreshing as it had this huge ice ball of fruits. Then my friends got a st. Germain cocktail which was also good and some kind of vodka martini they thought tasted watered down. We ordered family style for the food so we can try a little bit of everything: — Foie gras was our fave dish. Cooked nicely and flavorful. — Shrimp and crabmeat cocktail was okay, the shrimp was a little dry and the cocktail sauce I thought was a little too sweet. — Beef tartar was also just okay, it was a little bland and needed a pinch of salt. — Short ribs were not good. It was dry and bland. — Seafood paella was quite bad. Seafood on top was cooked nicely but the rice was really wet and mushy yet the rice itself was not cooked. Yuck! — Shrimp ravioli was the only other edible dish. We brought our own cake and when got the bill, there was an $ 18 service charge for the cake! Yikes! That’s like half the price of the cake! You would think that as much as we spent on drinks and food, we would get complimentary cake cutting.

I’m in loOooOve with Mercat Bistro!!! I had it twice in one weekend. I had brunch with a friend here on a saturday for brunch. Loved it so much I came back Monday night for their Tagliatelle pasta. Tagliatelle is mixed in a cheese barrel and its only available on monday night. Its definitely one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. Perfect for date night. They put on a show for you and I love that! Things I’ve had: Croque Madame, ham sandwich with an egg on top. You can choose fries or salad. Perfect for brunch and it was so good!!! eating here will make you feel like you’re in Europe. Ambience, food, décor, everything was on point! Beouf tartare, beef tartare with a qual egg and 12 year old aged balsamic. This was one of the best beef tartare ever. It was so light and delicious! mix it well and spread it all over baguette Tagliatelle, mixing in the cheese barrel makes it super creamy my friend had their quiche lorraine and said it was amazing!

How I’ve spent 8 years in Dallas and somehow missed this place is beyond me. So glad to have finally checked it out. Came here with a friend for brunch(definitely make reservations because you know Dallas and their brunches)! Got seated right away with no issues. This place is intimate and cozy, it totally reminded me of a small, tucked away café in Paris. They also have a covered patio that was just adorable. Brunch menu is small, but the upside was our food came out in less than 10 minutes — and it was delicious! Overall experience was positive, and will definitely file this under my brunch choices in Dallas. Parking is available next door in the garage(it was free on Sunday) or valet in front of the restaurant.

From top to bottom, Mercat Bistro is wonderful. The service — perfection. The wine selection is vast with bottles ranging from the high $ 30’s to $ 200+, and they have wine by the glass, as well. Inside, it is extremely intimate, with very few tables, warm glowy lights, and a lovely, massive chandelier in the center made of a tree-root system for a splash of rustic style. The patio is gorgeous and shares a lawn with St. Ann’s, which includes an over-sized chess game. I took the kids with me to dinner last night, and we went out to the lawn after ordering(we had a large party and mine were the only kids, so we gave the table some space) — I kicked off my shoes in the grass and let my daughter play chess as the sun went down. So lovely. The Ribeye was incredible. I ordered it medium rare — it came out perfectly — piping hot, buttery, salted to perfection and every bite just melted. I was splitting the dish with my daughter, so my server took the time to cut it for me, split it onto her plate and then cut that up for her. We had incredible service and a wonderful dinner. The locally sourced ingredients, talented chefs, French flare, beautiful setting and wonderful service make this a worthy dinner destination.

I want to love this place, but it’s so hard. It is a place to go and feel cool, but honestly that and location are the only draws for me. We have gone here for brunch twice and while I love overpriced fancy food just as much as the next dallasite, I just can’t fall in love with Mercat. Now that pastry basket? That I can fall in love with(BREAD) This is a place that is fun to go once or twice, but if you really want to feel full and happy there are many other options in the area. I will say that I recommend the quiche and I have heard their lunch items are good, but we have only been for brunch!

We were in town for work and were in the building, so we got lunch here two days. We did the grab-and-go options, which were really quick and easy. The selection was great the day we got there at 11:30, the other day we got there at 12:45 and it was really picked over but an employee offered to make us a salad or something if we didn’t like the options that were left. The chicken pesto sandwich was absolutely delicious. The chicken caesar salad, not so much. It was totally bland and flavorless, and the dressing left a lot to be desired. Also instead of croutons there was just a big slab of hard, toasted bread on top, which was kind of difficult to eat. Overall, not a bad option for a quick, easy lunch, but I’ve had much better.

What makes Mercat so special is the little details(in addition to the delicious food, of course). Mercat has a lovely patio that’s perfect for dining outside on a nice evening. On my most recent visit, I noticed they had a new decorative, overhead structure that covered the patio area(at least I think it’s new). Some nights, you can hear music coming from nearby Saint Anne’s… loud enough to set a mood, but not so loud that you have to raise your voice to be heard. One of my favorite details about Mercat is the pretty mismatched china on which the food is served. Adds a touch of warmth to the dinner experience. On my most recent visit, I had the bruschetta as an appetizer and the Chilean Sea Bass for dinner. The bruschetta comes with three pieces of bread, each topped with a nice slice of cheese and tomato. Can’t go wrong. And the sea bass… probably one of the best sea bass I’ve had in recent memory. So perfectly cooked and served along with arugula and pieces of crab meat in a delicious sauce. Divine. For dessert, my friend and I shared the dessert sampler: a combination of desserts — tiramisu, cheesecake, pana cotta, and chocolate mousse(?) — served in shot glasses. Perfect for sharing. Mercat is elegant without being stuffy. I can’t think of many places like it in Dallas and recommend it highly.

Excellent early Saturday morning brunch. My friends and I ordered the Crabmeat Benedict and the roasted chicken sandwich. My mimosa was strong and pulpy. My friends ordered cocktails, one had an iced fruit/sangria sphere and the other was a lavender cocktail-both were delicious. Also, order the pastry basket! Our server made some great recommendations. I’ll definitely be back!

Such a cute little Sunday brunch spot. The food was yummy! I highly recommend the Strawberry Mascarpone Crepes. They are to-die-for! The Shaken Vanilla Espresso is a must. So good. Also, the china they serve their dishes on is adorable. Definitely my kind of place.

Best French café in town. They have everything. And everything is amazing! I had the salmon today and it was great. The apricot glaze was sweet and tasted fantastic in the fish. My girlfriend and I started with the cheese plate with some meats, and the roasted and brie tart. I would strongly recommend both. This place is really good. I could eat here for any meal because they have the best of every meal. You will not be disappointed going to this place. I can’t wait to try more of their pastries but we had their chocolate chip cookies today and they were incredibly moist, fresh, and chocolatey. Be sure to go here and order everything you can. I have not had anything bad yet. Really great service too. Tons of people working there to make sure everyone is happy.

What a hidden gem! I LOVE this cute little restaurant. It has such a charming vibe, and the French cuisine is quite tasty. Mercat is a quaint, somewhat hidden restaurant with a romantic feel and a Parisian flair. One of my favorite restaurants in Dallas is Toulouse, and I think I would say that Mercat is it’s counterpart(maybe even better). The quiche I ordered was OUTSTANDING. The Beef dish(I forgot exactly what it was) tasted mouthwatering. And the service was superb! Overall, Mercat is a solid choice for brunch, lunch or dinner. I can’t wait to go back!

Delicious food. It was a simple Two Eggs your Way, but the eggs were cooked to perfection. The Bloody Mary was very tasty. The real treat was the plate of mini-deserts. I’m not sure which one was my absolute favorite, but the chocolate mouse and tiramisu were divine!

I enjoyed brunch out in the covered patio last weekend. The atmosphere was very pleasant just like a street café near the Louvre. The staff is very professional and provided excellent recommendations. I had the quiche Lorriane was superb. I deffinately will be back again for pastries and another meal. Highly recommended.

I really struggled in rating this place. I wanted to give it 3 stars, but this was mostly based on the strange server we had. He was a quirky little man that was incredibly inattentive and a little pushy when it came to beverages and selling everything the restaurant prepared as «top 3» of(insert menu item here) you’ll ever have. I settled on 4 stars because I felt the food was really good, well portioned, atmosphere was nice, and the other servers around us seemed on top of their game and our guy was just an anomaly. For starters we had the Un, Duex, Trois meat and cheese plate and the Steak Tartare. My boyfriend enjoyed the meat/cheese plate. It was nothing special, but good. It was a bit pricey for the jamon Iberico. The tartare was a bit spicy as a previous Unilocaler mentioned, but I found it incredibly enjoyable. I wish they had given more balsamic vinegar. For the soup and salad course he had the French Onion soup(which we were told was incredible and we had to try it) and I had the Veal Sweet Bread salad. The soup was good, but not memorable. It was a good portion and piping hot. He didn’t finish it. I had the salad and I’ll be honest, I thought it was fantastic! I did not expect that much from a salad. The dressing was outstanding and the bits of bacon and sweet breads among the lettuce were pleasant and kept me wanting more. For our entrees I had the Sea Bass and he has the Ribeye and pomme frites. Again, portion sizes were good and we were satisfied. The bass was rich and delicious. The bearnaise for his steak was delicious. The fries were well seasoned and again great portion. For dessert, we had the four mini desserts(tiramisu, lemon curd, chocolate mousse, and raspberry pana cotta). I also couldn’t resist the cheesecake. Desserts were all good, nothing exceptional. I’d recommend the four minis it’s definitely big enough to share. I enjoyed this place overall. Considering the crazy 4 course meal we had I felt it was well priced for this kind of place. I don’t know that I’d rush back on our next special occasion but I definitely enjoyed our dinner here.

For a taste of France in Dallas, this is where to go. This was the perfect oasis for me to stop by, grab coffee, a bite, and kill some time while waiting to meet up with friends. I was seated at the bar and Steven took exceptional care of me throughout my meal as did all of the staff I encountered here. He also made a delicious Australian Flat White. I normally get espresso, but I was in the mood to deviate slightly from a straight espresso. The Australian flat white was perfect and he added just a touch of hazelnut which tied it all together nicely. Unlike with a lot of cappuccinos where the milk can over power the coffee. This one had the perfect balance of smoothness and delicious coffee flavor. I savored it as long as I could and I ended up getting another one for the road it was so good. For food, I went with their croque madame which is a French bistro brunch go to for me. Their’s may not have been the best ever, but it was made with care, quality ingredients, was very traditional, and is definitely worth getting. I got it with the bibb salad instead of their potatoes and I’m glad I did. I normally would have done the potatoes, but it would have been way too heavy. That was a big croque madame. The salad was perfect. The décor/atmosphere here fits perfectly with their bistro theme. It even reminded me a bit of my visits to Paris. The thing I may have enjoyed most of all though was I could tell the staff where happy to be there and happy to be working with each other. That was a delight. This will be a must stop whenever I visit Dallas in the future.

Went to Mercat Bistro for brunch with my friends for lunch on Sunday and the outside patio is extremely cute. I definitely recommend requesting to sit outside if the weather is nice! The service was not what I expected considering and we all waited almost 30 minutes before someone could even take our drink order. I was really disappointed on how long it took for the waiter to even greet us. I also felt pretty rushed when the waiter finally took our drink/food orders. I ordered the Croque Madame known as the grilled ham & cheese sandwich per recommendation by the waiter and other Unilocal reviews. Honestly, I was not very fond of the dish overall. It was very overwhelming and I was provided with only a butter knife to cut through the massive sandwich. My sunny side up egg was overcooked. The flavors of the cheese, ham, and egg yolk was very overwhelming which made me so sick after eating just half of the sandiwch. Overall: After my bad experience at M.B., I would not recommend coming here. I was really disappointed. The outside patio area is probably the only good thing about this restaurant.

Came here for my mother and I’s birthday celebration on Labour day. I follow a few foodies on Instagram and stumbled upon their torched pasta, special for Monday’s… And had to have it. We ordered the torched pasta. If you love cheese, get this! The portion isn’t meant for one to take on their own. If you only have two people, I would recommend getting this and another dish to split and share. Un, Deux, Trois was a perfect start to our meal along with the flavourful steamed mussels! There wasn’t a drop left in the soup base for the mussels. They incorporated the French concept into the interior. It reminded me of when I was at the home of a friend in the outskirts of Paris. Jumbled, homey and sweet. Our service was great from beginning to end. I’m surprised there were so few customers. Wishing this restaurant well!

I’m a sucker for aesthetics. And this place is gorgeous and has cute cups/plates/décor. But their service is mediocre and their food is good but overpriced. With that said, I do recommend the braised mushrooms! The egg was overcooked, but the mushrooms were great.
