I love this place, it’s very large and spread out, plenty of pool tables with seating, bartenders are friendly and helpful and restrooms are roomy and clean. Dance floor is cared for too. I also feel safe when I’m there. Security is friendly and attentive.

Love it, love it, love it! This is such a fun place to come for dance lessons and to dance.(They will charge you $ 5 at the door if you arrive early for dance lessons. Not sure what they charge for cover after 8:00). Also a great place to meet people and make new friends! The only reason I’m not giving my review 5 stars is because management has cracked down on their bartenders giving out glasses of water to their patrons. If you don’t drink alcohol and just want to drink water, sorry, you’re gonna have to pay $ 2 bucks for bottled water which kinda sucks — even though I tip the bartender for a glass of water.

Went for Thursday dancing and lessons. The guy teaching the dancing was not very good and wasted SOMUCHTIME talking!!! And he kept talking about how he had to stop teaching at 8 o’clock-but talked so much that he went past that.(It was my first time here so I didn’t really get why he kept hammering that point across.) All I know is that if he talked less, we would have learned more. Great place to go and just dance. Lots of available dancing partners. Cheap drinks. Very clean. Felt safe inside. But parking lot was pretty dark for single women walking to car alone.

I’m relatively sure they can’t call lessons free if they charge you at the door. The website says lessons start at 6:45 that’s not true either.

I saw online that cover was free until 9, so I figured I would try it out. There was no parking in the front and the pathway to the back is poorly lit and kinda sketchy. I brought my active duty military ID and she told me it wasn’t a valid form of ID.(THISMADEMEREALLYMAD.) I went back and got my drivers license. She scanned it and made me sign something saying I consented to a background check which seemed sketchier. I went in and the place is smoke free(SO Nice) and new, but tiny. At 9:30 the place was empty and the average age was 50+. Everyone was either waltzing or half stepping. The music is way too loud and it’s not my scene at all.

It was a cool experience, especially if you’re with the right people. I’m interested to take a line dancing course so next time I can do a jig on the dance floor too! ;) I live close by so I can see this being a good spot for my girls and I to meet up if we need a good night out!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this place but was very surprised. I was visiting from out of town and went on a Thursday night as I saw they had Dance Lessons so I figured why not. I chatted with a very nice elderly man waiting for the doors to open and once in everyone was very friendly and very willing to talk and dance. If you don’t know how to dance couples dancing they have a DJ that teaches it and while a little difficult to pick up they rotate partners so eventually you get someone that knows what they heck they are doing and they help you. Only complaint and it wasn’t really a bother at all is in the beginning the Bartender was all by herself but she did a wonderful job considering there were many people in line. I plan on going back again next week before I leave I enjoyed it so much, LOL!

Review is solely on the building. There needs to be more pictures posted of the inside of this place. WOW. 4 full bars and a very well maintained building. Could say it looks as if it’s BRAND new. Gotta check it out for yourself. There’s an upstairs area with a 5th great bar the room looks PERFECT and ideal for group gatherings, mingling or birthday, bachelor, bachelorette parties!

Although I’m not much of a two-stepper and a country bar gal, I like the venue and the music played was very fitting for the place when I was there last night. It wasn’t as busy and lively as I thought and maybe because it was 4th of July and most people were doing something else. In the last 5 – 6 years that place had gone through many different names and management, last time I was there it wasn’t a country bar. I can’t remember what it was in the last few years. Despite being a place to two-step, you can still twerp and boogie to the top 40 hits lol. The drinks were above average, not as strong as I hoped to be.

We went last night, a Thursday night, and the bar itself is great! It’s a smaller setup, but identical to Red River. The floor was good and the DJ played a lot of country music. My only complaint is the«security» guard. I’m not one to judge but the person they had«patrolling» the parking lot was appeared to be quite large in size and not super motivated to keep everyone’s cars safe. Thus resulting in 5 break-in’s by 11pm. Ours was one of them. Luckily the Dallas officer who came out to take the reports found the stollen items from the multiple vehicles and we were lucky to get most of our stuff back. Please be cautious when you go of where you park and what’s in your car. I will go again, but my car will be completely bare of any belongings! But they need a better security program!

This was my first experience at midnight rodeo. My friends and I were there for the Roger Creager concert. We were happy to have a great Texas artist so close to home for a change. The venue was nice, but the sound was way too loud and too much bass. Then Roger the main act came on and the sound was not very loud or clear at all. I know this is not a band issue, but a venue issue. After the main act was done, we were once again back to loud bass noise! I wondered why this place never had a good concert in the past! Seems to me they are more concerned with making the dj the main attraction! You just lost 10 first time customers!

Nice club, good dance lessons and plenty of people to dance with made this a great Thursday night out. Still not a fan of the race track dance floor but with people who can actually dance it works out ok. Beer prices are still too high and I would like to have seen some dance drink specials. Give this club some live for a good Thursday night out. They have food but I haven’t tried it out. Looks decent for a bar.

I have been to M.R. twice now, and both times have been positive experiences. I only know the bare basics of country and western dancing, but I have been taking ballroom/Latin and swing dancing lessons for over a year now. My second time here was last night, when I thought they were going to be offering a west coast swing lesson.(I don’t know why West Coast swing is mostly associated with C&W dancing establishments in Dallas, but that seems to be the way it is.) I was pleased to discover that there was no cover when I entered at 6:30pm(on a Thursday). The door person said men were being let in for free, which may have been to encourage reluctant males in for the dance lesson. Once inside, I discovered that either they changed the offering or I misunderstood what their website said(probably the later). In reality, they were offering a lesson in what I believe is called progressive double two-step. I was already there, so I decided to give it a shot. The teacher seemed quite competent, and his explanations were broken down into simple enough steps to make his instruction quite clear. The lesson lasted for about an hour and a half, with rotation through partners on the dance floor. After the lesson was over, I stuck around for several hours. My favorite thing about the music and dancing was the DJ’s selection of music. I am not much of a C&W music fan, but I accept that when I go to such an establishment, that is what I am going to hear. But, at M.R., the DJ will occasionally throw in a segment or two of pop music. I haven’t been to many C&W places, so I don’t know if this is normal, but I like it. During the pop music sessions, I danced west coast swing or the Cha Cha, which also goes nicely with a lot of pop music. The only negatives associated with this experience for me were some of the other patrons, which I also recognize is probably just part of the C&W bar experience. One cowboy seemed like he wanted to fight someone on the dance floor, and was following the older fellow and his dance partner around the floor trying to engage with him in heated conversation. The older fellow simply seemed to ignore him. I didn’t really know what it was all about, but the cowboy eventually stormed out of the place calling the people on the dance floor«pussies» as he left. I don’t understand why no one seemed to tell management about the situation, as I would have done if it involved me. I assume there are always a few cowboys looking for a fight, but I suspect it usually amounts to nothing. This incident was the exception, however, since most people seemed quite polite. For instance, I accidentally bumped into a different cowboy while stepping away from the urinal in the bathroom, and he apologized(as did I). The only other negative for me was when the instructor got somewhat religious at the end. He was asking for prayers for a family member getting surgery the next day, which I didn’t mind in it self. I am an atheist, but I know that I am an extreme minority, especially in a C&W bar in Texas. What bothered me was when another patron yelled out«Let’s all pray right now!» I thought: «Oh great, I thought I was going to a dance lesson, and it turns into a fundamentalist revival session.» Fortunately, the instructor said he would be happy to pray with him *after* the lesson was over, so I didn’t have to be involved. These were both minor things, and they certainly won’t keep me away from M.R. in the future.

Wife and I were looking for someplace, anyplace, to go for country dancing in the Dallas area to avoid Red River. It was great to learn that Midnight Rodeo had come to North Dallas. We always try to make it to the Midnight Rodeos in Austin or San Antonio when we’re down south, but this location is better. Nicest, cleanest, friendliest, most upscale dance hall I’ve been to in years of CW dancing all over Texas. No smoking indoors, good race track dance floor, free lessons Wed. and Thur. from beginner to advanced by great instructors, cheap drinks, and a great sound system. Add live music on Thursday and a free buffet on Friday and this place is almost too good to be true. And no, I don’t work there or have any affiliation. I just want to get the word out so they can hopefully stay in business. Red River needs some competition.

I just didn’t like the service… The place had changed owners/names, whatever, and so this is my first time here as «Midnight Rodeo» — and I was DD, so I’m not going to drink. Everyone around me seemed to be having a good time, but that happens when you put a few shots in «cowgirls» and urban«cowboys». They think they know what they are doing on the dance floor — but in fact, its the same 2 steps they are doing and the very frequent twirl of the lady… Come on guys, to really sweep a woman off her feet, lead her in a dance that isn’t the same one you learned in grade school. That’s neither here nor there — back to the service. So I’m DD, and not only do I not have attractive cleavage, but I frequently urinate standing up. Thus, bar tenders tend to ignore me, even though my money is just as green. Staring into your soul until you turn around: — I get a head nod and raised eyebrows… The universal sign of «Oh hey, you want something?» «Water Please» — I see the immediate sign of disappointment in his eyes as they say«why did I have to get this one…» –«That will be $ 3» «What? for the water bottle? No… Do you have tap water?» «No sir» he says quickly. «Really?» I reply in disbelief. He then just turns around and leaves. Doesn’t ask if I want the water, doesn’t wait to see if I change my mind, nothing. The place wasn’t THAT busy to justify that attitude. For what seemed like the next 2 hours, I was completely ignored by that bartender, and had to have my friends get me my water…

Came here on a Wednesday night around 7:45 after dinner at Carrabbas with some relatives. We weren’t exactly in the mood to go out, but had heard on the radio about the recent opening of this place, and since my girlfriend and I love country music and dancing, we decided to give this a try. Firstly, the bar is SUPER neat and clean. NO cover, and CHEAP longnecks and shot specials. That’s already 5 stars right there. We appreciate the non-smoking atmosphere, and kinda nice to have that«new car»(bar) feeling. The place is basically like a much cleaner, miniature Red River saloon(for those who have been there.) There are 2 pool tables and even an exclusive intimate style dancefloor and lounge area on the second level to the right which I thought to be interesting. 96.3KSCS was there doing promotions and they gave us koozies and even a free CD for my girlfriend! The waitress was bubbly, sarcastic, and very on top of things. You can tell they want to set a standard here after only being open 3 weeks now. The dancefloor wasn’t too crowded and the atmosphere was lively between 8−10pm. We ended up inviting more friends to come out and stayed there til a little after 1am! Only thing– we are in our mid-to-late twenties, and this crowd is around 40 median age, so bring a crowd. HOWEVER — it sure beats the duecebags and jerks that always start fights and elbow you on the dance floor like at Red River. 5 stars for many, many reasons, and would like to come back maybe on the weekend some time since its only 10 – 15 minutes from our place in Frisco.
