Sadly, it’s just time for it to close it’s doors. Good people work here, but they cannot clear the cashier’s area to allow us to put down our items because huge fans occupy the space. Why the fans? Because it gets too hot in there. The cashier’s will do anything to help us have a good shopping experience, but from lack of good brands to check outs that don’t make sense, their is little they can do. I thank them and won’t be returning any time soon.

This place is so ghetto it’s overpriced under services and the checkout rows don’t make any sense at all the way they are set up

I used to like this store, the people were friendly and helpful and very talkative, that’s when they had grown ups working. I went there recently some new girl named Pinky waited on me I out the money her hand and held my hand out for my change and she literally went over to the side of my hand and set my change on the counter, no hello, no is that it, no thank you. then there is a crazy looking buggy girl with what appear to be dimple piercing and she will look at you in the face for a long period f time and never smile or speak. I will not spend my money at a place, where the employees act like these 2 very ignorant young ladies, I never felt so un-welcomed in my life

STAYAWAY. like someone else stated its like they think its the 70’s they do not carry any of the top brands, they carry only the cheep basics. I cant even get good dog food. I only shop there when its an emergency. I spoke to a couple of the managers about carrying better products, Pita Chips, Cheeses, Wines Meets etc. the reply was the owners cant order from those distributers; Kroger, Albertson, tom thumb even fiesta and target can but not Minyard’s They do not reflect the neighborhood. I drive 6 miles to Central and Limon Albertsons before I shop at Minyards. I asked for salmon ONCE it was green and smell. good place to get cheep meet as someone stated, because its old and gray meet. Some of the home owners have kicked around the idea of a petition to have them closed.

I had such a surreal experience shopping at my neighborhood, east Dallas Minyard’s food store; it seems everything went a bit ‘70s. The store has been struggling for the last few years and is anything, but posh. Nevertheless, it’s close and I don’t need fancy. All I’m looking for is some cheap wine and some even cheaper seasonal produce. When I got there around 5 o’clock last Friday the store wasn’t very busy, but there was a rather festive disco song playing through the store’s PA system. I thought, how random and started shopping. Three for a dollar avocados, 99 cent a pound tomatoes, and then another 70’s song started to play. How strange. Some more shopping and some more 70’s music. As I was going down the aisles I noticed a lot of eccentric looking people all swaying to the music. In hindsight, they might have looked at me as eccentric or they might not have noticed me at all. As I was wheeling my shopping basket from aisle to aisle I would occasionally see the same person over again. I kept trying to figure out who they were, what was their story. I wanted to put a label on them. You’re an out of work mother. You’re a retired construction worker. But nothing fit. Maybe it was Donna Summers singing in the background, but all of these people seem so exotic, perplexing, and unknown. As I continued to shop I started to think I was in an Armistead Maupin’s tale of a Frisco Safeway store. For that moment in time, I wanted to be in that place and in that time. Granted, in the 70’s I was only a child and I don’t want to be rocking bellbottom pants anytime soon, but I wanted to be there. I left the store a bit bewildered, but most importantly grateful for the experience. What a treat it is to live only a block away from the most exotic grocery store most will never know. Long live disco fever.

I avoid this store at all costs. I literally live less than a block away from it, and would rather drive 15 minutes to the nearest Tom Thumb, then go to this Minyards. For starters, it is the most ghetto, run down building I have ever been in. Its embarrassing. If I do shop here(and thats a big if) I only get pre packaged food. The quality of their fruits, vegetables, deli, meat, etc., etc., is just awful. To make matters worse, they are always undermanned. Every time I go in there, its like they decided to do what Walmart is doing, and have one person at the register, when there is a line of 20+ people. Now, I’m a pretty laid back, easy going guy, but I refuse to shop here unless I have no gas in my car to make it to Tom Thumb. It is an incredibly disgusting store.

Please expect that whatever it is you want, this Grocery Store isn’t going to have it. From Johnsonville brats to Sun-dried tomatoes, salsa’s and your favorite carbonated beverage this place is missing just about everything that I can always find at a Kroger, Tom Thumb or Albertson’s. They haven’t updated their inventory in probably 14 years. No issues if you’re still stuck buying the same stuff from 1992. Also I bought some deli made brownies, they had little bits of wax paper in them, Nasty! But my favorite was a cashier trying to pass me a counterfeit $ 5 bill. Before I made it 10′ from the register I turned around and said I don’t want this bill. She continued checking someone out and when she was finally done she begrudgingly took it back after arguing with me about it. Meanwhile she was using her cell phone. I work for a bank, I know money, this is some shady stuff. Kinda wished I’d called the cops. I’m sure she just passed it to the next customer who might not know any better. This place is shady, kinda wish they’d tear it down and put something up better, but this is the HOOD, what can you do? Beware you’ll run into unsavory people in the parking lot too.

Traditional grocery store which stocks more ethnic foods(Latin/Soul). A great place to get deals on meat and veggies. I am «wary» of the fish market, only because I do not know how fresh their catch is. the store does get busy in the evenings and on weekends. The management does seem to try and stay on top of it but there are also times when the cashiers seem to stand there and do nothing. Be sure to lock the doors of your car when you go in. There is a guard in the store… but still be safe.
