I came here for breakfast on a weekday so it wasn’t too busy, but considering the tiny space I can guess that eating here on the weekends will be hectic. Even though it wasn’t busy when I went, the small space was still annoying. The tables are so close together that I was practically a part of the business meeting going on at the table next to me. I had very minimal space for my legs and no space at all to scoot my chair back. I started with a cup of coffee to drink and it was disappointing. The first cup I had wasn’t good, but still drinkable with reluctance. The second cup was awful; literally the worst cup(more like sip since I couldn’t finish it) of coffee that I’ve had. My cousin agreed with me. There was an unpleasant, peculiar taste that definitely should not have been there. For my meal, I ordered the fried chicken and waffles. The waffle is of a medium thickness and all of the chicken was boneless dark meat. It wasn’t bad, but I’ve had better. I prefer white meat over dark meat, but I appreciate that the chicken was taken off of the bone since that allows me to cut the chicken right on top of the waffle. The chicken didn’t have much flavor to it though, but I guess that doesn’t matter since I ended up drenching it in syrup. The waffle isn’t bad either, but nothing that stands out. A decent meal overall; a solid 3 stars for an A-OK meal. They uncomfortable space, the average food, and the relatively high menu prices for what you’re getting will probably keep me from coming back here by choice. There are better breakfast spots in the area that will provide a nicer experience.

Today was my last visit to Oddfellows. I have had a few positive experiences here in the past. Pretty good food, neat area, especially nice if the weather is good. The wait is to be expected, and no big deal. Today we got right in thanks to proper planning and putting our name in on the app. The waiter took our drink order — nothing complicated, a few waters and a couple of coffees — came back, and then disappeared for 15 minutes. When he came back again, the computer /POS system had gone down, and it be another 5 – 10 minutes before he could take our order. Ok. An hour went by before we ever got our food. Empty tables, yet we were told the kitchen was backed up. One of our friends had to get to the airport to catch a flight — departure time nearly 3 hours after we sat down — so we had to ask for to-go boxes for our food. When those came, they were dirty and oil stained. Sent them back and got new, clean to-go boxes. We even went ahead and paid 20 minutes before our food showed up so we could eat and leave. Food finally came, they missed several items, and took another 10 minutes to deliver the last person’s meal, which also came out wrong. I have friends who are in the restaurant business and understand that things happen. However, no manager was in sight, no apologies were offered, and no items were comp’d. The food was pretty good, but not worth the terrible experience. With so many other good places in Dallas, we won’t be back to Oddfellows.

Most disappointing. After a day visiting the city, we were enticed by the menu and lunch options for a Sunday mid-afternoon, when sweet brunch foods still rule the day. Hearing about the new chicken French dip sandwich, I got excited. Boy I shouldn’t have. «Salt on a bun» would have been a better name. No cheese listed on the menu, but the sandwich arrives with clumps of what we finally determined was cream cheese. Our server asked if everything was ok, and I said«no.» They must not train for that answer because she had no idea what to do but to take the plate away and bring the check. After she brought back our card, we sought out the manager, who did zero out the bill, but was wholly disinterested in feedback or anything, rather blaming us for not making a bigger deal out of it. The two stars are for décor. As for eats, there are many other delicious options in Bishop Arts. Perhaps the owners will cede control of the space to competent restaurateurs.

Ov er all food was good, but French Toast tasted like sour milk. They offered to remake, but we had lost our appetite. It’s made with yogurt, and this should be stated in menu.

Overpriced diner food w a cool logo. While the restaurant design appears cool, & the location is ideal, the food here is forgettable or maybe ok if you live nearby(though I think you could probably find similar & better close). Definitely not worth more than a 10 min wait though! The wait for brunch was 1 hour. That’s normal in LA& Austin at really good places, but think this place was just poorly run. It may have been a bad day, but after the hour wait, our food took another 30 min for an omelette that was bland & waaay overpriced(maybe because it had kale?), forgettable huevos rancheros, & soggy oily fries or hash browns. wasn’t quite sure what they were but they had a cool name. Not cool & they took another 15 min after the rest of our food came. Server was cute & hip but seemed like she was trying out for«bored server in an indie movie». Disclaimer: didn’t try chicken & waffles, but I see this combo served at at least 10 other places that probably don’t have 30 min wait. Go to Wild Detectives or Emporium Pies. Hear Hattie’s is good too. Or even Denny’s or IHOP because at least they aren’t overpriced & you know what to expect. Skip this hipster joint unless you are just infatuated w eating at empty logos to be cool & don’t care about eating bad food that’s also high in calories. Hope they improve or that designer should ask for a logo retraction. The two star is just because I wasn’t poisoned & the logo & space are nice enough. Also not really kid friendly, especially w an hour wait unless you are masochist.

Things are always crazy at Oddfellows. It feels like a cozy New England home that’s on a hectic ride in an ocean storm. Most brunches are so slammed, when I come in at 2pm, the house still hasn’t recovered. The staff is generally prettier than the patrons, if you can catch them for 2 seconds, you better be able to make your requests in that time slot. Recently at an afternoon breakfast my order was finally taken at the bar — 2 poached eggs and avocado. When it arrived, the food runner had taken off before I noticed I had no silverware. Staff passed by preoccupied to not notice a customer need. Maybe this is a strategy they’ve grown accustomed to during the slammed brunch as a way to deflect the constant barrage of requests. I held out for a bit, wanting to enjoy my meal with a fork, and not my coffee spoon. But I eventually gave in, feeling sad without a napkin. The egg and avocado was $ 3 combined, so maybe they just saw it as a no frills breakfast. I noticed on the bill the coffee was $ 4, and I was charged for a bottomless without having asked for it. I think I got a refill to go to compensate because I didn’t wanna wait 10 minutes to have it adjusted a dollar. I tried making it obvious that I was eating eggs with a coffee spoon but if he noticed he didn’t care. Sometimes I get a certain kind bartender who has treated me quick and efficiently. There is also a very beautiful barback. Who I could probably fall in love with. Oddfellows has a homey décor with the mad pace of restaurant in Grand Central Terminal. The food and coffee is generally above average, but the secret is out so weather the storm. Go for breakfast, the busiest time, when you might feel like you’ll be constantly mentally rushing through a revolving door. Dinner has proven less successful gastronomically with, to me, an unsatisfying menu selection that was executed with a few flaws. The quinoa bowl seemed a bit boring except for being too oily. Steady with that ship Oddfellows, you guys could be rocking it out of the park all day long, and not just during your morning rush. On Sunday I went for a coffee around 4:15pm. The girl at the door as I walked in stared at me without a smile, like a queen, waiting for me to speak. «Can I get a coffee?» Her eye had a sparkle of ego and vengeance against the customers who must have had her spent from a long day. «We’re closed.» «Oh the sign says your open.» «Nuh uh» her facial expression read unforgivingly dare I ask that question. «We close at 4pm.» I looked at my watch, 4:15pm. Her eyes beamed, «let me ask.» She teased me with some faux customer service while she consciously perhaps slammed my caffeine addicted heart into a million shattered pieces. «Sorry» she said with a mischievous sexy smile. Oddfellows does have its charms. Just bring some mental armor and enjoy the ride.

Cool vibe for a diner in Oak Cliff. They also have a great espresso machine here and they use Austin’s Cuvée coffee beans. The barista who also doubles as a waiter behind the counter seems to be an expert. While he made me a good cup of cappuccino, I noticed the beans were roasted too dark and made my cappuccino taste more bitter than it should have. But that’s the fault of Cuvée and not the barista. Perhaps this place would do good to change around their beans. They also have Cuvée black&blue nitrogenated coffee on tap as well as kombucha on tap. Pretty fancy for a diner. But then again most plates in the breakfast menu are northward of $ 10. I came when the fryer was down so the usual side of potato hash was substituted for salad, which is what I would have preferred anyways. I ordered the pork belly Benedict that comes with cooked greens, tomato, and hollandaise sauce on top of «paisano» country bread. The pork belly came, unfortunately, too thin and dried out from being overcooked. And the salad, while fresh and in large portions, had a sauce that was a little too tangy and acidic from the mustard vinaigrette. But yes, unfortunately the worst part of the pork belly Benedict was the pork belly itself. I also saw someone get a yogurt parfait and the presentation looked nice. Overall, I liked that the focus is on good food and that personal touches were evident when I was there(the cook who made my food delivered my plate). While I think the execution of the food could be improved, they were not far from being perfected as the ingredients were good and the yolks were runny and poached nicely. Additionally, the atmosphere really did add to the charm of the place. So next time, I probably would recommend the avocado Benedict since nobody can overcooked an avocado, haha. And it’ll save you $ 2 from what was less than 50 cents in pork belly. But from what I’ve heard, the menu changes often.

Coffee on tap is awesome. Ask for«black and blue» coffee — it’s a «nitrogen-charged» keg that holds coffee. This is different from beer in which the kegs hold CO2 — giving off larger bubbles in the glass. . This nitrogen-charged coffee is very smooth and has very small bubbles. It’s relatively new to Dallas, but the idea has been around.

I decided to take my mom to Oddfellows for breakfast. It was her birthday and I wanted for her to try something different. I had been here once before and I really enjoyed my food. Well not so much this time around. Despite it being very few people in the restaurant. The service was rather slow. It took forever just to get our coffee. We started to wonder if the server’s area was over seated. Time passes and still haven’t received our food. Just as I was about to ask about our food. The runner came to our table. Yay! Food. Hold up not so fast. Everything was COLD! No steam or heat coming off our food. So basically our food has sat for at least several minutes. My «poached» egg had absolutely no run to it. It was basically two soft boiled eggs. Ugh. My mom’s eggs were ice cold and rubbery. My salmon was very salty and chewy. What a disappointing birthday breakfast. Neither one of us finished our food. Nor did we have the time to send it all back to be cooked again. It will be a very long time before I return.

Pleasantly surprised. Here as u can see I rates it 5 out of 5! Ate outside with five very close friends, nothing bad happened just catching up and talking /occasionally laughing about college/girlfriends and such. I got the realistic breakfast crosoint with veggie sausage because Katie went veggie and hell it’s the 21 century. Fresh squeezed oj was ok. Very kind waitress ! I walked in and she LITERALLY read my mind when she said(first door on the left) for the bathroom. Crazy! So good food and atmosphere ! I do not recommend coming here on business or telling /unknowingly recovering from bad food poisoning

I give the Buffalo Mac and Cheese 5 stars. I typically write reviews as an over-all, general idea of what I think the restaurant deserves type of thing but the Buffalo Mac and Cheese here deserves its own review. 5 more stars for the fact that u can do a «half» order or a «full» order. Bravo to whoever came up with that idea. It’s kind of like … Do I want to be «half» fatty today or do I want to be a «full» fatty today??! Half order is plenty, by the way :) it was the perfect amount for me to indulge without over do-ing it.

Neat little breakfast place in Bishop Arts, tucked away at the end of side street. You have the option of sitting outside at the bar along the sidewalk or inside. The interior has a well thought-out architecture and looks like it could be recreated at home if you had enough wooden pallets! Also, they were nice enough to let us in even though it was past their posted closing sign! So glad they did. I had the biscuits and gravy with bacon; it was so-so. My husband had the yogurt with honey and fruit and I instantly wished I had chosen that(I always have buyers remorse and wish I had ordered what my husband did, fortunately he’s nice enough to share — even though I always remind him that I’m entitled to half anyway)! Service was a little slow, or maybe laid back, or maybe it’s because we came in after closing. They have an impressive selection, including a french press option, and I’d love to back and try some more! Hipsters would approve.

I have been to this place many times before when it was new and decided to come back and was slightly disappointed. 20 minutes to get a Chemix brewed coffee, while they only have Two Chemix pots and it appears to be a fan favorite they should buy two more at least. The food was not as I remembered it, I had the bacon cheddar scramble it was to fluffy like an omelette and the bacon was too chewy. One shining side is the staff, friendly and willing to go the extra mile for the customer.

I explained to our friends that brunch is one of my 3 food groups and that I would love some deliciousness without the pretentiousness and the breaking of my bank that Dallas so prides itself on. Said friend was kind enough to go early, while the rest of us got ready(you know you have to look pretty out and about in Dallas) and put us on the list. When we arrived, we sat at the picnic tables and waited another 20 – 25 minutes(not terrible for good food and the people watching was solid. You have some typical frat-tastic Dallas peeps, some hipsters, et al.) This Bishop Arts area definitely reminds of me of Austin. First, I love the bright/open atmosphere of this place. I’m a very handsome man and I don’t like dimly lit«romantic» places where others are unable to admire the enhanced aesthetic when I walk into a restaurant. Barista-like people are making fancy coffee, hipster looking servers bustling about, I’m digging the vibe. Menu… wow… I want it all. I basically made everyone at the table order something I wanted to try. I’ve read Robert Cialdini’s «Influence» multiple times. I’m more persuasive than Donald Trump. I went with the Duck chilaquiles… After all, I’d spent at least 8 – 10 minutes of our wait ensuring I would be able to pronounce them when asked.(tchee/lah/KEE/lehs… you’re welcome). So let’s talk about the chilaquiles first. They were actually kinda«meh.» Relatively decent flavor, but really, really dry. I’m not here to be healthy. I don’t care if it’s salsa roja, crema or mole, but let’s be generous with the sauce… applied at the very end to retain the crispness of the chips, obviously. Anyway, chilaquiles were 3 of 5, but thankfully everyone else let me try their food… Chicken and Waffles = 4 of 5(They’re no Breakfast Klub or Adair in Houston) Buffalo Mac and Cheese = 4.5 of 5(Look, I don’t know if I could eat a whole dish as I tend to get tried of Buffalo sauce, but the bite I had was delicious.) Green Chile Short Rib Scramble = 4.25 of 5(Probably not my wife’s first choice, but I talked her into it. I think I liked it more than she did). She did really enjoy her coffee, though. [Summary]: A *little bit* pretentious brunch joint that reminds me of Austin, has relatively decent service, a really fun menu and pretty delicious food.

This is one of my favorite brunch places ever! Everything from the atmosphere to the food was amazing. It’s located in the Bishop Arts District. It’s always PACKED, but they’ll text you when your table is ready and give you 5 minutes to show up. This gives you the opportunity to walk around and shop in the area while you wait. My favorite thing on the menu is definitely their Eggs Benedict! I’ve had A LOT of Eggs Benedict in the past, but none of them compared to these. The yolk breaks perfectly and brings the food together. Their pancakes were also scrumptious. Do NOT feel discouraged if you have to wait over an hour cause it’s worth the wait. And besides, you have a whole neighborhood to roam around in the meantime.

As far as brunch goes this place is A-OK. My sister and I stopped by for Saturday brunch and nothing we ordered on the menu was anything I would lust after. We both started out with entrees– my sis got the duck chilaquiles and I got the short rib hash. I saw a picture of it on here and expected a mound of meat. but got a smaller amount than I expected, but I can’t complain about the way the meat was cooked– fork tender! The sauce was pretty good and the potatoes were cooked nicely. Now on to the«dessert». Yes, we did order dessert after our full entrees. Something that sounded better than it sounded– the chocolate bacon waffle sundae. Now doesn’t that sound great? It was just ok. A waffle that they scooped globs of ice cream on to with fruit, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce. We were digging for that bacon and we came up pretty short. Overall, a solid 3-star experience.

Sit at the bar! You can eat brunch there and get your people watch on. This place is crunk on a Sunday. Lots of hustle and bustle. The eggs benny was the hit of the day. Made with love. Hearty homestyle grits, bacon, and huge pancakes also! But yes… back to the eggs benedict… spinach, ham, and poached eggs just makes my soul happy. You can even get it with smoked salmon. I had my eyes on the salmon with goat cheese scramble for next time. Everything is creatively made and stands out from other breakfast joints in the area. The wait is a little nuts but worth it for sure. Again… sit at the bar for faster service. There’s a huge patio too! I am already planning my next trip back!

If I’m being honest… I saw all of the reviews and have actually tried to eat here once before but the wait was just entirely too long, so needless to say I’ve been wanting to try this place for quite some time… If I’m being completely honest, my food and service were good but there was nothing special about it time. Nothing to make me want to what for over 45 minutes and drive to oak cliff. I liked it. My waiter was nice. But like I said, there was nothing that has drawn me back to this place. The food is good. Not spectacular. The service is cool. Not special. If I were in the area and there was 0 minute wait time I would eat here. But for no other reason.

Zzz… So bland. I tried some of the buffalo chicken mac & cheese, green chili pork scramble, the fruit cup, and cheese grits. All of them– SOBLAND! We used so much salt and pepper and Tabasco on each dish. The fruit cup was disgusting– the apples and bananas were brown, and the rest of the fruit was soggy. I thought the rest of the menu was fairly priced, but the fruit cup was $ 6.50! If it had been $ 3, I still would’ve been annoyed with how overpriced it was for the quality! We sat in the back corner. There were flies an knats everywhere. Service was slow, BUT it was a Saturday around 3pm and they were pretty busy, so I won’t fault them for that. Overall– go elsewhere, unless you are into very bland food!
