Nice place to hang out with a group of friends during the summer if anyone misses that«school» environment atmosphere(nope). Theme of the restaurant is great to look at as the menus and napkins look similar to stationery, also has a collection of globes on the windows. Though a little pricey, their quality of different foods are pretty good including pizzas, mac&cheese, and sausages. Service is also great. Recommend going here during the weekdays in the afternoons for their happy hour which is much more affordable.

So I only had re Nutella brownie here and that was delish. Yes, it is big and way to much chocolate but that is the fun of the whole experience. When I walked in they had 4 greeters. Talk about a warm welcome on a mid day outing. The décor of the restaurant is warm and earthy. The staff seems helpful and happy. I am going to come back and try the food. So stay tuned for an update.

Great location! Very nice décor! Off the street parking! We enjoyed a delicious Sunday brunch on the patio! Hubby says this place has the best chicken and waffles he’s ever had. The chicken sausage and grits is quite flavorful but very saucy. In my opinion, the menu doesn’t emphasize that this dish is more of a soup. I’ll be back for the chicken and waffles! Note: At 10am most of the crowd was dressed in workout clothes.

I think this is the only public school I ever had to pay for. The food was exquisite and I really enjoyed Chemical Kinetics by Gordon Hammes. It was great entertainment as we waited.

Came here on a Friday for brunch, but didn’t realize brunch is only on Saturdays and Sunday. I was upset, but still impressed with my order! I ordered the lamb burger with kale salad and it was delicious. Really unique flavored going on. I also was impressed with what beers were available. Since it was 11 am I had coffee — delicious coffee. I wish I caught our servers name, but she was a super kind and cute blonde who took her time with helping us and just chatting. At 1130 on a Friday it was hardly busy!

I love the super cold beer here. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is energetic. The AC is perfect on hot summer days. You can stop by, drink a cold beer while cooling off inside, or you can grab a bite to eat on the dog friendly patio. It’s great for people watching. It does get busy on weekends so go early, go late or be ready to wait.

I’ll admit it, if I had written a review for this place the first time I came here about a year ago, I would have given them 5 stars. However, this second time around there’s no way I can go above 3 stars. The food is wildly expensive for being subpar. My boyfriend and I came here for a second time a few weeks ago for dinner. We weren’t that hungry so we just ordered the kale caesar salad with salmon since the last time we ate that, I thought it was amazing. However, this time around, the salmon wasn’t flavored the same way and the dressing for the salad seemed to be lacking something. I don’t think we’ll be coming back here for dinner again, but after reading so many good reviews about the brunch, we might have to make just one more appearance.

This place is going down hill FAST! The service sucks! They practically wait till Happy Hour is over before they come and check on you! The waitress stated she forgot that they had this table on the Happy hour sideman the patio? Why in the F&$$ did y’all seat us here? I can see why my friends stop coming here! Lazy AF!!! Food! They screwed my food up after I asked the waitress to repeat the order! Repost: a week later! I came in to sit in then happy-hour area and Dave immediately greeted me! What I noticed this time around was the service was extremely perfect! He suggested some things and even made sure I was comfortable with my selection choice! I can totally see that he really cared about how he serviced his customers! He Checked in on me server all times and I enjoyed to see his interaction with other clients! We ordered the cauliflower and Mac and cheese and the house wine and the totL wait time was under 10 min! Thanks Paul! This totally changes my attitude from a week a ago!

Really loved this spot! Got there right when doors opened at 10am! And boy does this place fill up fast! They have fresh squeezed mimosas, so its super tasty! Love the bottomless deal, so for 10 bucks you can enjoy yourself!(drink responsible) Also they have a cool little bloody– mary that comes with a chicken wing! #WINNING And also anything else that you need their bartenders can mix it up! The brunch menu is pretty awesome! They have special french toast that is different each week. So may sure to ask what the chef has prepared! In addition to all their food, they have a cool little dart board section where you can play and relax with friends! Over all it’s a pretty cool concept! Just reminds me of being in a really cool grown up school house – that serves really good food! Oh and I almost forgot about their Bacon Cheddar Tots, yea go ahead and get them!!! YUMMY

A friend and I came here last weekend for sunday funday. The restuarant is nice and has great outdoor seating. The weather was great that day so we sat outside. My friend ordered the french toast which had melted marshmallow and bourbon chocolate sauce, and it was HEAVENLY. I ordered the breakfast burrito and my god was it amazing. It had every breakfast food I was craving stuffed inside of it. I was starving and I ate the whole thing… which says alot because the table next to us split the burrito in half haha. Now…I’m only giving it 4 stars because the mimosas were bleh and tasted like they use really cheap champagne.

The concept behind Public School 214 is really creative. I love the globes, menu, napkins and just the vibe I got when I walked in. A lot of effort seemed to have been put in for the décor which was nice and deserves recognition. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t very impressive on either of my visits. I wanted to try their dinner and brunch before I decided if I liked it or not and I honestly just wasn’t a fan. Don’t get me wrong… the food wasn’t bad, I just expected more since they had me hooked with the décor and atmosphere. For brunch, I ordered the eggs Benedict pizza which was okay but lacked flavor. The serving size is great, creative item and I even had leftovers but it just wasn’t special to me. Their bottomless mimosas looked great and a popular brunch item to order but I didn’t get one. The time I came for dinner, I ordered the roasted poblano with quinoa which was also just okay. It sounded somewhat healthy and flavorful but it just didn’t taste great. I probably won’t be coming back but it was worth a try. Just not my cup of tea.

I returned a couple of times for their weekend Brunch, so I’m updating my review to 5 stars. THIS is a 5 star brunch. The brunch entrees are scrumptious, the $ 10 all you can drink cocktail carafes are excellent quality and obviously a great bargain. This place fills up quickly, so arrive as early as possible. You will probably have to sit at the bar, but I’ve always enjoyed good, friendly service here.

Wow, are you kidding me? This place delivers? Both literally and figuratively. They delivered delicious food to the Westin Hotel and they«delivered» on true southern American modern cuisine. The shrimp and grits is obviously created by a genius. A warm and comfy creamy sauce with just the right amount of spice, perfectly cooked shrimp, creamy cheesy grit cake, bacon and tomatoes yum yum yum! The fried cheesy bacon bites is pretty good(salty) and the Mac and cheese with the chips on top is amazing! Last but not least the Nutella and bacon ice cream cookie sandwich is ridiculously tasty. And I am not a Nutella fan, but I’m a fan of this dessert. It’s too big though couldn’t even finish a quarter of it.

My Essay: SCHOOL… The word brings back memories good and bad from the teachers, to the homework, to the exams. But this Public School only brings back good memories. I fell in love when I first walked inside and saw the décor. The school theme made me feel like I was back in class… math flash cards, a periodic table, and maps lined the walls. Even the items on the table had a school theme! The menu looked like a composition notebook, the drink menu and napkins looked like loose leaf paper, and the happy hour menu is referred to as recess! I just knew a waiter was going to come up to our table and say«Ok! Pop quiz!» For my beer selection I chose to order the temptress, a local stout. Delicious! I then ordered the crispy chicken sandwich… Sounds simple right? Well not here! The sandwich had a perfectly buttered bun with crispy chicken(of course!), shave Brussels kale slaw, tomato, sweet carrot habanero, and mustard BBQ sauce. Perfectly balanced flavors and Soooo good!!! For my side I ordered the fries, which came in the bottom of a brown bag(like a packed lunch!) with a jalapeño ketchup! I am not a huge fry person but these fries were good, and the special ketchup added the perfect touch. Next time I’m in town, I’ll be back for sure!

I thoroughly enjoyed dining at Public School On Tap yesterday evening. Public School has one of the best ambiances in Dallas, and I am sure you’re eager to know why. AMBIANCE(Great) :The lights are nice and dim, and the place fills up fast. It gives you the coziness of Cedars Social, the attitude of Eureka! and the spunk of Social House. The restaurant is split right down the middle – one side is solely for dining and the other is owned by small plates and drinking. This side is definitely the strong side and the section I favored most, especially with the bar-like tables and small corner for dart throwing. The décor is just how you imagined – decked out with the finest memorabilia you were so fond of from grade school. Nicely, done, PS. Nicely done. FOOD(Great): The food comes out roughly 6 minutes after its ordered so it makes you wonder… either they have some high quality food zappers or a million man kitchen staff. Whatever the case is, the dishes were hot, fresh, and pleasing to my taste buds. I highly suggest the ahi tuna wonton tacos, parmesan frites, and fiery calamari. **SIDENOTE**- The wonton tacos are about the size of an average sized thumb – just a fair warning. SERVICE/PRICES(Good) :Pricing is pretty standard in a place like this; generally $ 8-$ 12 for apps, and plates ranging from about $ 10-$ 22. Service? Meh. The cute blonde didn’t exceed my expectations, but my glass was neither half empty nor half full. I can’t believe I didn’t check this place out sooner. Oh well. Better late than never!

This place just went from 5 star to 2 star in my books, everything we ordered came out incorrectly. My family had to drive 5 hours, so we didn’t have a lot of time for them to fix things. They did offer to recook all four meals but we didn’t have the time. The waiter wasn’t bad but he was not great like I had experienced in the past. The burger I had had an amazing bun. The tomatoes were sliced so thick all of the veggies slid off the burger. It was slathered in ketchup which I hate and mustard. I feel like it could have been much better. My food was taken from me before I was finished. I had barely touched my fries and stop had a third of my burger. This is a big pet peeve for me. I’ve been raving about this place for months and now I will have to recant all the good hints based on my most recent experience.

Came here to meet a friend for lunch on Christmas Eve. Made reservations via Unilocal for the first time which worked out well. They were able to locate my reservation right away. Did I need one? Ha… absolutely not! It was actually quite comical as I entered as person number 3… WITH a reservation. The theme/ambiance… It’s cute. Really cute, actually. I totally thought it would be overwhelming based on some of the reviews, but I actually found it to be quite tasteful. But then again, my humor is corny. I’m the girl with the kitchen towels that read«Chop It Like It’s Hot», who actually sings«Chop It Like It’s Hot» in Snoop Dogg’s voice while chopping veggies. Yup, nice to meet you. I got a big kick out of my brown bag of leftovers labeled«homework». The waiter must have noticed, because he then gave me a serious face, pointed to my bag and sternly said, «Do your homework!» ha! I live for these moments. I do. It’s a great place to come for a chill lunch or weekday dinner. The atmosphere is light and fun and if anything, helps you lighten up. The service… Excellent! I don’t know if it’s always this way or if everyone was just merry and bright for the holidays, but they certainly made the most out of working on Christmas Eve as they joked with us and danced«in the halls». The food… I ordered the BBQ Bison Burger medium well with fries. It was moist and delicious and I was very pleased with my choice. My fries were fresh cut and tasted similar to inn-n-out, which I liked. My friend ordered the lamb burger and also enjoyed it. Our waiter recommended this burger as medium rare, if that’s your style. Can’t go wrong with either one though! I did all of my homework early. Every last bit of it. This school has great lunch. Yum! I may return for testing on a Sunday. Apparently brunch is good too.

PS214 is school-theme overload. Composition books for menus, college-ruled paper for napkins, homework for leftovers, raise your hand to get your server’s attention, even recess in lieu of happy hour. There is no subtlety here — you’ll either love it or hate it. I happen to love the extreme detail with the theme and it’s particularly unique, so when friends visit from out of town I like to bring them here. Unfortunately, that’s really the only reason I bring them to PS214– we have never been wowed by the food or drink. Let’s start with the bar: the bar area is perpetually crowded with young 20-somethings looking to hang out at the trendy spot. You’ll be lucky to find a bar stool available and I’ve always had to really wave down a bartender to get a drink. The place is really loud, so if you’re not into shouting, you’ll have a nice, long, silent(but loud) drink with your companions. I’ve had some good cocktails here but it seems like every time I find one I like, they change the cocktail menu, and I have to start over. As for beer, they do have a decent list of rotating taps, but I think it’s confusing that they have the rotating taps listed separately from the standard taps & bottled beers. You have to look at two menus if you want to see everything. Food: I’ve eaten here both for brunch and for dinner. I had the eggs benedict pizza for brunch and I felt that the twist on the real deal was not well executed. I feel like they should at least serve some hollandaise(a classic part of the benny!) on the side or something. My husband had chicken & waffles, and despite how much everyone loves them, we really didn’t. The chicken was really dry! As for dinner, their menu is actually pretty small(once you remove all the beer & cocktails) and there really wasn’t anything I was dying to try. I ordered the bison burger which was pretty good. I had the brussels slaw on the side and didn’t really like it. We ordered a dessert, a pumpkin cheesecake, and everyone that tried it hated it. It had a really odd texture & taste. We had about 2 bites and dropped the spoons. Funny how a dessert can make or break your meal! Unfortunately our server processed our checks before checking on how we liked the dessert, so we weren’t able to have it removed or otherwise be compensated for the poor dessert. In conclusion: come here for the drinks but not the food, and be prepared with your outside voice!
