I came to this place with very high expectation after hearing highly things about this place but I ended up being disappointed. We had a reservation but didn’t get seated till 15 after on a unstable table which made it difficult to eat. We ordered deviled eggs, chicken, mash potatoes and mac and cheese. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the deviled eggs they had curry in them which is probably why I wasn’t feeling it to much. The chicken was super juicy and very flavorful and the mash potatoes and the biscuits were probably my favorite. Im a big fan of mac and cheese but not particularly this one. I really think it was a texture thing because I couldn’t get over the texture. Over all the service was nice but the space was small and tight. I could hear other peoples conversation. Sad to say we won’t be back because we did get food poisoning from this place which was a huge disappointment

Great entrees and quite tasty,… but soul food is not always truly SOUL food, if ya know what I mean. And oh yeah… OVER priced… drinks in particular. And we love exploring restaurants in ALL price ranges.

Everything you read about this place is spot on! I visited here on a Friday night, and we dined on the patio. The food was served quickly and everything was YUM I believed they told me the chicken was pressure fried chicken, it wasn’t greasy and it was surprisingly moist. The chubby girl in me only wished the sides were a little bigger, but honestly I was down for the count after 2 pieces of chicken. This is definitely where I’ll bring my or of state friends for now on.

I cannot be more complimentary of the whole experience of Sissy’s. Major kudos to the charming atmosphere, delicious food, refreshing drinks, and wonderful service. To start the night off, I enjoyed a grapefruit julep which was delicious. Next, we shared a bucket of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, mac ‘n cheese. I’ll definitely be back soon to enjoy.

I went for brunch and had the fried chicken and waffles. Best fried chicken I have ever had. They brine the chicken so the meat has tons of flavor and it is super juicy.

Hosted a work function here for a large party(30). Service was attentive and the food excellent. Chicken was crispy and moist as you would hope for a southern joint. Dessert is to die for– bread pudding and chocolate cake were delish.

Fancy-Schmancy pants, read: plates, and other miscellaneous wear in the place. The food that we ordered was all very well prepared; the fried chicken was very tasty(juicy inner and crispy outer), the biscuits and butter were soft and melt in your mouth-ish, the mashed potatoes and brown gravy were a hit… and then there was the mac n cheese. Twelve dollar mac n cheese. Meh, I wasn’t impressed. It wasn’t the worst as it was baked and gooey-cheesy, but it definitely wasn’t the best. Something was just off with the flavor and I certainly wouldn’t spend twelve bucks on this dish. Something* was going on behind the scenes with the staff and boy oh boy, whatever it was, it wasn’t pretty. You could sense the tension and it spilled over into our service as part of our meal wasn’t brought out from the back of the house until the very end. Our waiter was a pro, on point and composed, apologizing for the error and comping us for it. I’d come back just to have a great convo with him, he was hilarious.

Made a reservation on open table and was seated right at my reserved time. The ambiance is southern and elegant. I Came with two other people and ordered the chicken bucket with a side of mac&cheese and biscuits. Super affordable, $ 24 for a bucket that could easily feed 4! The chicken comes w your choice of coleslaw or mashed potatoes. Our food took around 30 minutes. The food was outstanding. Best fried chicken I’ve ever had! The Mac and cheese is a must have… The kind of noodles and cheese takes it up a notch. Only complaint was the mashed potatoes were cold. Service was good, our waiter was very attentive! I’ll definitely be back.

We came in on Mother’s Day 2016: myself, my aunt, grandmother, son and family friend. The only reason I am not rating this higher is there was a band playing as we came in and someone was literally SCREAM singing«I’ll Fly Away» into the microphone. I’m talking belting it out. I’m all for a good ol’ fashioned sing-a-long… but not to the point where it is uncomfortable and literally painful to the customers. The waiter had to wait until she was done to take our order. I also realize that this is probably my personal issue. The restaurant was split half and half with those cheering and singing along and those painfully holding their ears. I’m not a fan of rambunctious dining(unless I intentionally go to a sports bar or a place where I expect it) so I was obviously part of the latter group. That set a bad tone for the rest or our meal as my grandmother had a headache :( The food, however was super yummy, the service(waiter) was a little lack-luster however the hostesses and bussers made up for what he was lacking… also, due to the wailing on the microphone, we were literally yelling back and forth to one another at the beginning of the meal. I’m sure that didn’t set a good precedence for our interaction the rest of the meal. Not sure it’s a fair reflection on the young man. Price was also super reasonable being that 3 of the 5 people split the fried chicken bucket.

Stepped out of my comfort zone and had the fried chicken here at the demand of my customer. I usually cannot eat meat with bones in it. The chicken was perfectly extra crispy but the meat inside was still juicy. We dipped this in their homemade peppered hot sauce. The whipped potatoes on the side were the perfect light airy consistency but they went a little bit heavy on the salt I appreciate that you can add on individual biscuits for a 1 $. They were very large and were the crumbly type of biscuit vs the flaky type(I prefer flaky but they tasted good because I mean it’s bread). The 4 stars really stems from the perfectly cooked bucket of crispy fried chicken and the GORGEOUS1950s old country kitchen décor — I can’t think of a Houston restaurant off the top of my head that looks as authentic country kitchen.

I would give the service here a 4 or 5 stars because they are great with suggestions and very attentive. When we walked in we were told that their were no reservations and only could be seated at the bar, which was fine with us. The only reason I gave this restaurant 3 stars is because the taste of the food. The sides are great!!! Mashed potatoes, macaroni, and the fries, but the main dishes just aren’t that tasteful. The chicken didn’t have much flavor and the wild bore patty melt was just ok as well. I feel like for the prices the food should taste a lot better! I’ll probably give it one more try.

Bartender and food was great. Entire dining experience and wait was surprisingly horrible. We had reservations at 9:30…showed up early and when it was 9:30, the host said all they could offer at that time was the bar? No. That’s why people get reservations, so we said we would continue to wait. The host then apologizes after awhile and proceed to tell us to have a seat at the bar and we can order appetizers and the manager would take care of all the appetizers while we wait for the next table to open. We said sure might as well. We ordered 3 appetizers and cocktails as planned… The bill came and all the appetizers were on it. The bartender was super nice and asked the manager about it. We find out that the manager said he was only going to remove 1 appetizer and apologize for the miscommunication. Ok sure these things happen… we would’ve order the same thing regardless. The manager then says«well we technically comp for 2 since it was a full size order and not a half size». Excuse me? An appetizer is an appetizer… I don’t care if it’s ¼ size order. First we were under the impression that the manager was taking care of all the appetizers and now he made us feel like we should be happy he took care of a FULL size order when it should have been a half? Quite strange… But anyways, fine… Moving on. He was apologetic and we were just ready to sit at our table by then. We finally got to our table at 10:30. Food was good. No complaints. The manager try to make it up to us by giving us a dessert on the house. We acknowledge and appreciate his effort for trying to make things right hence its not a 1-star experience. However, the entire dining experience was thoroughly disappointing. Doubt we will be back.

Customer Service 5 stars, Food 5 stars but I give this restaurant 4 stars because it isn’t the best fried chicken on the planet, good but not the best, the gumbo being from Louisiana wasn’t that good. The other dishes Oh Boy Loved them all. The fried Oysters appetizer was really good and had a dipping sauce that i wish i could bring home. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and will return to try other dishes on the menu.

My friends and I decided to dine in Sissy’s for lunch. Parking seems like an impossible situation but we talked to the valet guy in front of the restaurant and he said for lunch, it’s okay to park BEHIND the restaurant(even though it says«valet only»). The same can’t be said about dinner time. They will tow your car if you don’t use valet during dinner! The hostess asked if we had a reservation but we didn’t. There was no wait for us though so that was fine. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. Definitely captures the«southern» feel. I wouldn’t want to show up in my gym clothes here though. Service was great and our waitress was friendly. Water is always being refilled, even when we least expected it. Thanks! =We were a party of 4 and decided to split the 10 pc mix fried chicken w/mashed potatoes, Sissy’s mac n cheese, and cream biscuits. I don’t see the point in buying the 2 pc chicken for $ 12 when the 10 pc chicken is $ 25. Just share with your friends! You have the choice of choosing cole slaw or mashed potatoes with white or brown gravy when you order the 10 pc fried chicken. Their fried chicken and mashed potatoes are the bomb. 10⁄10 love forever. =Sissy’s mac n cheese wasn’t the best mac n cheese I’ve ever had but it got the job done! The portion size is actually pretty big but for $ 12, I would not order it again next time around. =Now let me talk about the cream biscuits… THEYARESOOOOGOOOOODDDDDDDD. The texture of the biscuit with honey butter is so creamy and amazing. There were only 6 in the order for $ 9 but it was enough since we barely didn’t even finish it. I probably wouldn’t frequent this place as much because the prices for the food are pretty up there but it was an enjoyable experience to dine here!

Raise your hand if you love Mac and cheese! How about mashed potatoes? Fried chicken? If you answered yes to any of these questions then get yourself to Sissys right away!!! The food was to die for! I had the grapefruit Julip and it was perfect. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is due to the slow service. It took about 15 minutes for our waiter to come take our drink orders! If the service was a little bit better they would definitely be getting five stars!

Came here with my two best friends a few weeksk ago for dinner. We had such a great time. The interior is super cute and rustic and it really sets the mood. We decided to start with the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. It was a great size and nice to split for the table. They also have a great wine list and we decided to share a red. We ended up getting the bucket of fried chicken(great deal!), and a side of mac and cheese. The chicken also came with mashed potatoes and gravy. Seriously everything was amazing and PLENTY for a party of 4. Can’t wait to come back and try more items!

Had a great meal at Sissy’s! I’m not sure why I’m not giving it a five-star.I guess I just think I should try more than fried chicken to truly grasp the talents of the kitchen staff… but what a fun place! The ambience is very NOLA; with tiled floor, an energetic volume, and Southern-clad servers. The boudin balls were perfect; and the fried chicken/mashed potatoes were not only a great price, but very tasty! We were too full to try dessert, but the list looked long and promising. I’ll be back to try more of their dishes!

To be honest while I am not a fan of fried foods, I will say I was pleasantly surprised with the catfish Po boy at Sissy’s. My friend had the at the fried chicken and I have to say I could be converted to have fried food once in a while it was that delicious. The atmosphere and staff are relaxing and and inviting. I recommend this restaurant anyone.
