The area of Trinity Mills and Midway is not a a part of town I would normally go out of my way to visit but a friend brought me to Sushi Maku and it was well worth the trip outside my normal boundary. The staff was amazing, charming and service was fantastic. But the real star was the food. Appetizer cold lettuce wrap with tuna and crabmeat was heavenly. The rolls were all delicious. And it didn’t cost an arm and a leg. Great sushi and exquisite service? I have found my new favorite sushi place. Not trendy like uptown but who needs trendy when the staff is Iike family after one visit and the food is tantalizing. I even joined Unilocal for the first time just to post this review.

The best sushi place in Dallas! Run by a sweet couple, they took over ownership about four months ago. I have already been here about a dozen times with friends and family, and everyone loves it. The wife, is the sweetest most attentive hostess and the husband is the best sushi chef… Ever! The place is small and very charming with large tables for groups and a sushi bar. There is basketball and golf on the tvs almost every night. The food is — well, it is amazing! Try any roll — it will be good. The quality of fish is just that good. Try rice less rolls — Star Bugs, Lettuce Hand Roll, Butterfly Kiss, Too Much Love, and Caribbean. Cooked — Pink Lady and Pink Mountain. Fresh — Sushirrito, Damn Good, Red Mountain, Alaska, and Orange. The Sashimi Sampler and Maku Samplers. We have tried all these and they are wonderful. No matter what you try the quality of the fish and other ingredients make this place!!!

First time I checked this place out, went here for lunch since it is close to my office and I will DEFINITELY be back. I agree with the other reviews on the specials, they can’t be beat. They even have a $ 10 special that comes with 2 rolls(a good amount of options to choose from), soup, and salad that is good ALLDAY(and the portions are good, I couldn’t even finish mine!). The Crunch Roll had a spring mix in it that I could have lived without but it was still good. The Love Roll — was fried goodness. Miso soup was good, I even liked the ginger dressing on the salad which is a hit or miss for me. Happy hour they have $ 2 large sake/wine/beer — yeah, I’ll be trying that. All in all, good food, good service, and I left more than satisified

New owners. I don’t think the quality is as good as it was previously. Such a shame because it is on my way home and I liked stopping off to get my sushi fix.

We live in the neighborhood and popped in for dinner tonight. I had tako, the damn good roll, and the Texas Rangers roll. We also had saki! The food was great, the place was clean, but the SERVICE was the best. kim is a master at the art of sushi, and his sweet wife Chen is a great hostess. They are two fun and genuine people running a solid joint. I highly recommend it!

My husband and I have lived by this restaurant for 3 years and never tried it. When we finally did, it was great. Supposedly the current owners just recently took over management of the restaurant. It has a nice ambiance. The owner was very friendly and attentive. When we went back a few weeks later, he remembered us. Prices are close to any other sushi restaurant. The sushi is delicious. Definitely going to continue to go there.

I walked in by myself after a very long day at work and sat at the bar. Everyone was so polite and attentive, the sushi maku rolls were beyond delicious and to top it off the chef surprised me with the cutest orange dessert. I will definitely be back. That was by far the best customer service that I have received in a long time!

This place is AMAZING! My new favorite sushi restaurant! The lunch specials are the best I’ve seen, and you can’t beat the everyday special either. You definitely get more than enough food for the price, and it’s a good quality too. I think they may be fairly new, so definitely tell your friends to check them out as there wasn’t much business when I went.

Omg we ordered take out last night and it was the bomb dot com. It was soooo delicious that we forgot to take pictures. We ordered the heart attack, Louisiana roll, the crazy crab crunch, and chicken fried rice. First off, we underestimated the fried rice. It was hands down the best fried rice we’ve ever had. They had this sauce, omg that sauce was so damn good lol. The heart attack was amazing and the jalapenos were great and spicy. The Louisiana roll was good but the crazy crab stole the sushi show. I can’t wait to visit this place again.

I’ve only been here for lunch but, their lunch specials are just too good to pass up! For $ 12 you get a salad, miso soup, and two rolls. And we aren’t just talking about simple California rolls either! The miso soup was pretty standard but still good. The salad was a served with a ginger dressing that I could of drank out of the bottle. So good! Their sushi combo was pretty awesome. You get to pick two rolls — one from a more standard menu and then the other from their specialty menu. I chose the Cowboy Roll which was decent and the Damn Good good roll which was honestly DAMNGOOD! I was super hungry and wanted a filling roll and this one definitely did the trick. It was pretty saucy and not a roll I would typically go for but was very flavorful and tasty. If you don’t eat sushi, you would like this roll. This roll is not what you would get you were looking for more of fresh roll. Will definitely be coming back for more lunches! Great little spot:)

This was a great spot for lunch! Most of the reviews I saw were about lunch. They weren’t joking! Soup, salad and two rolls for $ 12. They aren’t baby rolls either! The soup was pretty regular miso soup served with a salad with the ginger sauce. Now the sushi is the fun part– you pick one roll that’s pretty ordinary, I ordered the crunchy shrimp(could also choose from a California, spicy tuna or another I can’t remember) and then you get one«special roll». I chose the Alaskan, fresh salmon and avocado on top it was amazing! Both rolls had 5 – 8 pieces and I was definitely full and satisfied after. Will definitely return here for lunch! Great find

Ok sushi, more presentation than substance. They over-rely on chili sauce and spicy mayo.(I love spicy, but these aren’t, it just tastes funny in a bad way.) What drives me FURIOUS is that they don’t have a legible menu, print or online!!! When I asked for a take-out menu they told me to check their facebook site. I told them I don’t have facebook. They said… uh, look at the Unilocal pictures. Both of these options are almost entirely illegible on mobile devises, even tablets. Sushi Maku: Act like a legitimate business and either print actual menus and/or get a legitimate website with an online menu. Until then, bye.

I wanted to go when they had a all you can eat special but never got a chance. I decided to give this place a go anyways since they had a pretty good lunch special. With the lunch special, you get soup, salad, a drink, one simple/plain roll, then one special roll. I chose the cowboy roll and the you salmon roll while my brother got the spicy tuna and the dragon roll. Everything was good but nothing you can’t get anywhere else. The rolls were a bit on the smaller side and they just didn’t seem to have a lot of substance in them. We left satisfied considering we paid $ 12.99 each but this isn’t a place that we would be dying to go to again.

Really good sushi, attentive and friendly service, and nice atmosphere pretty much sums up my lunch experience here today. First, the lunch menu is pretty small, but the portions are appropriate and my food came out very quickly. The lunch special comes with miso soup(average), salad with ginger dressing(amazing) and a choice of one standard roll and choice of one special roll(both very good). The ginger salad dressing was the best I’ve ever had, they need to bottle and sell this stuff. Yummy! I got the cowboy roll(one of their standard rolls) and the ebi ebi roll(I subbed fresh tuna for the shrimp on top), and both were excellent. I want to try this place out for dinner, and see what their full menu has to offer, but over all, very solid sushi place. The atmosphere was nice, not too formal and not too casual.

Great place, great staff and great food. I ordered the volcano roll, and the presentation of it was neat. The waiter brought the plate out in flames and then put it out. The roll was AWESOME, everything tasted fresh and really good. I started my meal off with a house salad and their ginger dressing. The dressing was really good. Someone had ordered the ahi tuna tower, and it looked really good. Prices are decent here, and service is pretry quick. Everyone that ordered sushi at the table cleaned their plates. They also have other dishes if you’re not in the mood for sushi. Def check them out of you’re in the area.

Bonsai did me nice & right! I regret not going there when I lived up the street for 5 years. I am now a changed woman. I tried 3 different rolls with my favorite one being the Naruto roll. That thing tickled my fancy in such a wonderful way! The presentation was awesome as well as the friendliness of the servers. I will definitely return for the peach saki & that Naruto roll alone! Also, their specials are pretty good! :)

Hole in the wall place near my apt. Rolls are tasty and at a good price 10ish per. They like to put their rolls in boats or in hearts when I bring the gf. Staff is very friendly and on the edge of too attentive. Would order again Paradise roll(with mango, excellent) Texas ranger roll(bomb!) Volcano(they set it on fire!) Not bad, but wouldn’t order again Louisiana roll Dancing eel roll Bonsai roll
