I met a sister at Tate’s after work. There weren’t many people there for a Friday. They didn’t have a real food menu – just a nibble menu. The cocktails were FANTASTIC. I told the bartender exactly what I wanted and he gave me what my palate was thirsting. There happy hour specials were good. It’s more for a Pre-dinner and/or post dinner place.

Going to make this short and simple. Giving all 5 stars because Ryan Sanders is an awesome ass bartender. Whatever you like, he can whip something up for you. We sat there and enjoyed a couple of signature cocktails & it did not disappoint. Ryan made an mean old fashioned which my date who was accompanying me loved. I also tried the fruity drink with all the berries in it(forgot the name, hard to miss on the menu though), he said it was really popular, and I can tell why. Strong yet delicious! And usually I don’t drink those frilly girly drinks. I also am VERY picky about bloody Mary’s. But he made the perfect one. As good as mines(Hehe) Overall, being there on a weeknight was awesome. The vibe was really chill, and it was lovely to sit there and just enjoy our drinks. So whatever your heart and(liver) desires — tell Ryan: p

I’ll make this very short and sweet. Creighton is the best bartender I have ever met. I was never even a drinker per say but he introduced me to drinks that I had never had and they were wonderful. He always knows just what to prepare for me. His customer service and attention to detail skills are phenomenal. I am however not a fan of the bald head bartender. I sensed bad mojo but hey maybe he was having a bad day. I don’t know but what I do know I will stick to what I know and that’s ordering from Creighton.

Tate’s is a fun place to hang out! Located on McKinney Ave in Uptown, it is in the heart of the bars and restaurants in the area. The bar is a a great place to sit. People are coming and going all the time and all of the bar tenders are very friendly and make great drinks! Be sure to try their Blackberry Julep! it’s half price on ladies’ night(every Thursday!). There’s also a nice large patio on the front of Tate’s overlooking McKinney. It’s a great place to hang out when the weather is nice!

Perfect experience. Doorguy was very nice, bar was pleasantly busy, bartenders weren’t overwhelmed. The music was old school hip hop vibe, lots of people dancing inside. It was packed, plenty of parking in the parking garages just up the street. My only complaint is I ordered the Pegasus Limon and it didn’t have the rock candy stirrer :(Sister had the Blackberry Julep 3 times and it was AMAZING. Definitely getting it next time.

So… I wasn’t let back into Tate’s last night while all my friends were still inside because, in the 3 mins I was gone, they were magically closed for a private frat party. There was a frat thing going on, but there weren’t any signs saying the place closed at a certain time. I even tapped the bouncer’s shoulder when I was leaving to say I’d be right back. He didn’t indicate that if I left I would not be allowed to re-enter. Also, we had been there since 8:30pm having drinks and food(I had water) and the bouncer said I couldn’t come in because I wasn’t with SMU. He never asked if I was actually with the school or to see a school or any other kind of ID. He then proceeded to then let a group of white men and women in right in front of me without asking them any questions or what school they went to(all he did was check their license). The only reason I left to go to another bathroom is because there were frat guys crowded in the bathroom doing coke. I went in and grabbed my stuff and left(he graciously allowed me to go in only to get my jacket/keys and said he didn’t want to have to come in to find me). I wasn’t rude or talking loud to the bouncer. I didn’t make a scene. I didn’t have one drink in my system. I’m just wondering how the bouncer came to the conclusion that I shouldn’t be let back in when all the evidence he had was from simply looking at me…#Tates #UptownDallas

Really great atmosphere. Chef Devin comes up with amazing recipes to go with delicious drinks. The food is really fresh and tasty. A nice place to meet with friends and relax. Definitely one of my favorite spots in the Uptown area.

It’s a nice ambiance, sure, but the drinks themselves are pretty mediocre and definitely overpriced. And for some reason, this place never became popular despite its prime location, so it’s not even a great place to meet people. And yet still, loud music is blasted, so you don’t be able to chat with friends without yelling.

If I could give zero stars I would. Received our cocktails timely and service was prompt; however, there were no coasters or napkins on the table. Before long, our table was a messy pool of water. At $ 10 per drink, I have higher expectations. I ordered a second drink which did not taste right so returned it for something else. We received our bill and were charged $ 1 more per drink than the menu indicated, plus I was charged for the drink I returned rather than for the cheaper one I requested instead. When we finally flagged down the waitress to ask her, she acknowledged that they had not yet updated the drink menus with the correct prices and that her manager wouldn’t let her remove the returned drink from our ticket… wtf? This should have been explained at the time I returned the drink. We will not be back!!!

My husband and I went on a mid-week date night to check out their«Whiskey Wednesday» specials. I am not a whiskey drinker at all, so I asked the bartender for a recommendation. This was after we asked him if we could order(not the other way around). He rattled off something and I heard«old fashioned» so I opted for that. He asked if I had a preference of whiskey… um…I just told you«I am not a whiskey drinker» and asked what you recommend. He wasn’t interested in helping me so he said«Would you like to start with the house whiskey?». Sure. When I heard his pitch again to someone standing next to us I realized he was saying«water, neat, rocks, or old fashioned» were all part of the specials. We asked if we could order food(again, not the other way around even though we were sitting at the bar right in front of him and talking about food options) We ordered the brisket sandwich and the meat and cheese platter. I will admit the man who brought it to the table had likely been the one to put together these beautiful dishes and he delivered them to us with such pride. The food was great, the drinks were great(even though I feel like a better recommendation of a whiskey that wasn’t the«house» whiskey would likely have greatly improved mine.) I just wish that people who work in the service industry would actually make some effort to deliver great service. This guy wasn’t a young kid doing this just to get through school, and watching him work he actually took the time to ensure he was making great cocktails. He just lacked that delivery that could have made our experience that much better. We would probably return for the food and the cocktails, but we may just try to pick a seat near a different bartender.

I am not always so fond of bars and restaurants in Uptown but Tate’s is quickly becoming one of my favorites in the area. It has a nice large outside wrap around patio that is up off the ground, so you can people watch. They have big TVs outside on the patio as well. After about 10pm on the weekends they have a «DJ» really just someone that is playing music but not like a DJ that people will dance to. The inside has a nice long bar and some seating. It’s a nice place but casual. I have had different drinks here and food. I absolutely love the blackberry julep. You should really come visit just to try it. It’s so yummy and you don’t taste the liquor at all! It’s not too sweet though and all the fruit on top kinda makes you feel like your not being so bad lol. Pro the manager is awesome too! The service is great and it’s pretty much a no fuss establishment. People of all ages and ethnicities come here which is another reason I like it. Anyone can come here and not feel out of place. I highly recommend checking it out when in the area!

A phenomenal bar! Tate’s has great seating with a relaxed environment(at 10 pm) and a great selection of drinks. TVs are there too so you can enjoy your drink while watching some NBA. Have their Old Fashion – it is delicious and is one of the best I have ever had. I expect to go back to this place alot and make it one of my regular spots for Uptown. ~Carpe Diem~

Best damn Malaysian Mule I’ve ever had, though I haven’t had it anywhere else. If you like some spice to your drink, or the ginger taste, I definitely recommend getting yourself a Malay Mule. Seems like Tate’s is known for their Blackbird Julep, which is pretty tasty as well, for those who like fruity drinks. They’re also known for their rock candy drink, supposed to come in a martini glass with rock candy, but they ran out of rock candy when I went. The patio seating is nice and cozy on a cold evening; they’ll turn on the heaters outside. It’s also covered when it rains, so that’s a double thumbs up.

Came here last Monday night to have drinks with some friends. Perfect night to hangout on the patio. Since this was an off night, there were plenty of seating and not too loud, so it gave us a chance to chat and enjoy the night. If you guys like craft cocktails this is the best place to go. Chris, their very lovely bartender, is amazing when it comes to crafting tasty cocktails. After talking with her for a bit, I told her I loved Hendrix gin. She pretty much pegged my palate and made me a cocktail with muddled cucumbers that really accentuated the flowery after note of Hendricks gin, with just a touch of citrus taste to it. Absolutely perfect for a cool breezy Monday night, seating on the patio, people watching and hanging out with good friends. I hear they have DJ’s on weekends. Will have to check that out. Better yet, I shot an email to see if I can DJ there. So hopefully I get a response back. LOL Nevertheless, I will be coming back soon. SIFC

The happening place to be if you’re ever cruising around Uptown on a Friday night! Dark and loud yet intimate with a cool patio and misting fans. Have the bartenders whip you up a sriracha cocktail with fresh cucumbers. Really this place is in the heart of the action with the Den across the street blasting loud top 40 hits and SMU kids ripping the streets. Which… meh…kind of makes me feel old but ah well. I guess you’re as young as you feel, right? Anyway if you’re down for people watching and a little crazy fun this is the prime people watching location.

This bar was not a good pick the music was bad it was DEAD for hours but it is a good place to chill they have out door sitting n the weather was nice on last night. VERYOVERPRICEDWITHTHEDRINKS I order 2 long island n 3 house shots n it was $ 60. I was so shocked I’ve been to many bars and clubs and NEVER paid that much. I wont be going back to Tate’s unless to see their HOT bouncer!!!

I really enjoyed Tate’s! Yay for new spots in my bar rotations! :) We only went for cocktails as we had dinner reservations later that night, but we were all very impressed! The drink menu is sectioned off into different liquors… gin, rum, tequila, vodka and then what type of mood your in. I loved this. Because for me, I went right to the vodka. Obvy. I started with the SJP(basically a Cosmo) and it was delciious, then I had the Blackbird Julep which was incredible, almost a small snack if you will — fresh berries, so refreshing! MP got the lemonade which he said went down like water! Then my friends got Cuba Libre and their version of Pimms. Cocktail Saturday! The ambiance of the place is comfy and sitting outside in the heat was not a problem with the abundance of mister fans! Our waitress was lovely and the fact that our drinks tended to take a little longer than expected, was actually ok with us. She was super apologetic and I think she was the only one on the patio… hey Tates, hire more peeps! She also told us that all the drinks we had, are half off on Wed! Um, yes please. One other downside is that there is no designated area for smokers so they just kind of congregate outside the front. Le sad. Will definitely be back, we enjoyed our impromptu stop at Tate’s! Oh and the bathroom is freeeeeezing! Gah! *shivers*

Tate’s has a fun drink menu! I came here the other night and ordered the Tate’s Gimlet, and it tasted so refreshing. The bartender made this drink wonderfully and put so much effort and intensity into the whole process of creating the cucumber concoction. I would definitely come back again to try other drinks on the menu while relaxing with good company.
