The Cupcakery Uptown

I’ve passed by this shop several times and one afternoon I decided to satisfy my sweet tooth. I was immediately greeted by a friendly woman behind the counter (owner maybe?) and asked what I would like. I decided on 3 different cupcakes: the southern belle (red velvet), The Italian Cream (it had a different name), and the Wedding cake flavors. The wedding cake was good, but maybe too much almond flavoring? My husband ate the Italian cream in two bites! But the best of them all was the southern belle. I love red velvet, had it as a flavor on my wedding cake, always request it for holidays, etc. and this was quite possibly the best red velvet cupcake I have had in my life. Moist, with enough cocoa flavor and the cream cheese frosting is out of this world. I am so glad I don’t live close because Cupcakery would have all my money – and they are not cheap, $ 3.75 a cupcake. But I will definitely pop in anytime I’m in the area!

These cupcakes are 2 die for… I thought sprinkles was awesome until now… new favorite. …the banana cupcake had filling inside and glitter outside awhhh so good. I got 6 more left to try. So great.

Amazing cupcakes! And the owner refuses to sell children certain types of cupcakes that contain dyes that might be harmful. I think this is wonderful and we will definitely be back again, thank you!

At a time when so many cupcake storefronts are popping up, this one is the best. Again, this from a woman who loves cake.
The Good Morning cupcake is my favorite. If you’re partial to all things cinnamon, like I am, you have to try this.
And the guy who runs the store is a sweetheart. And not just because he doesn’t judge me when I buy a dozen plus one to eat in the car. Not that I do that…

Great cupcakes and great customer service! My favorite was the Carrot cake cupcake and red velvet. I brought a box of a dozen for a co-​workers birthday and everyone loved their cupcakes! I heard the strawberry crème and banana was really good too!
Dissappointed in how difficult parking is in this plaza though! Dumb people who are not customers of the bakery like to park in the two spots that are reserved for the bakery right in front of the store and they can’t do anything about it. :(

Very delicious, upscale cupcakes. The Southern Belle is my favorite. The cream cheese is to die for.

Stopped by before a meeting. Tried the pineapple coconut cupcake – delicious!!! Great selection even at 7pm. Nice and fresh.

Great place. Amazing service. Delicious lemon cupcake. Extremely cool owner :) I normally don’t like icing but it was very good. The cupcake was moist and yummy too. I want to buy a half dozen and eat them all to myself lolz

the owner is SUPER nice and although he jokes about people being too demanding on customer service (which i totally agree with. i’ve seen some cuh-​razies out there), he really is VERY good with customer service with giving us a couple of freebies. honestly that’s why i give them a 4! REALLY nice guy. and i just like him.
the cupcake… cake part is very moist and deliciously fluffy! i really like the base. the top a little bit too sweet, but then again i dont have a sweet tooth so alot of things are pretty sweet to me.
the flavors are pretty fun– nothing. outrageous, but def alot of diff flavors to choose from like PB and bacon, salted caramel pretzel, strawberry, mocha, etc. etc. etc. TONS of diff flavors.

Came here on a couple occasions when needing to buy a friend a birthday cupcake and sprinkles’ line was ridiculous. The first time I got a couple cupcakes and was disappointed with how extremely dry and too sweet they were. Came back another time hoping the first time was just an off day. Exact same problems. Sprinkles has a crazy line for a reason and next time I’ll just factor that extra wait time in my day.

The cupcakes were delicious. The whole family loved the cupcakes. We stopped for my daughters birthday. We got 7 all different cupcakes. Really recommend this place for a sweet treat.

We were driving by in the neighborhood and I saw this place and asked my husband to stop. I got the mounds of Joy… aka almond joy. The cake was so moist. I loved everything about this cupcake. There was a lot of frosting, a little top sweet for me at the end. I can’t wait to go back and try other flavors. I wish this place was closer to where I live… but then again it’s better that it’s not because I would go everyday. Ha!

Walked in today at 11:15 am. No cupcakes anywhere and nobody in site. I stood there for a few minutes and then turned around and left. What a waste.

Terrible service, we bought 8 cupcakes and we asked for a larger container and she said no, I asked for a bag and she said no. She was rude and seemed as if she didn’t want to be there. I’m over this place. $ 30 for eight cupcakes I should be able to get a decent box and a bag, since I was giving them to someone. Disappointed

Stopped in here today because I happened to see a parking spot open and their rarely is and I’ve been meaning to try this place. I ordered a lemon cupcake and the owner threw in two of his other lemon cupcakes to try as well. That was a fun surprise… I had my own little tasting back at the office after lunch. I love lots of buttercream and cream cheese icing so I loved them! Great service and great cupcakes… not so great parking but I hear you can park in the garage behind the strip. Will be back… will probably get some soon for my branch at work!

I stopped in and tried the strawberry shortcake cupcake.
First, an objective comment: It tastes exactly like a Twizzler.
There’s no actual strawberry involved with this cupcake; it’s instead a mix of corn syrup (it’s very sweet), food coloring, strawberry imitation flavor, cake mix that’s on the dry side. Also the ‘cake’s close to 4 bucks. With that price, strawberries could be chopped, and the batter taste more ‘homemade.‘
Nevertheless, it looks like this cupcake has plenty of endorsements on the Cupcakery Uptown Unilocal page. I’ll leave it up to you to decide whether you’d like to try out a Twizzler cupcake.

Just stopped in to satisfy our sweet tooth. It’s been a while since we’ve stopped by and boy service has changed. Now they serve the cupcakes in a plastic to go box instead of a plate and fork. It’s also been a while since the sitting area had been swept and cleaned. Last, you might expect a thank you, but not even that.
5 star cupcakes, 1 star service. Disappointing!

I went to The Original Cupcakery today and I have to say the cupcakes were horrible. The Red Velvet was just okay and the carrot cake was extremely dry. There weren’t a lot of flavors to choose from and the cupcakes were refrigerated! At $ 3.75 a cupcake, I would expect them to taste much better! Next time, I’ll just go to Crave or Sprinkles Cupcakes. I wouldn’t recommend this place to any of my friends!

The red velvet was my choice and I am a fanatic for red velvet but this one was good but had me craving another bakery. The cake was good but the frosting on top was intensely sweet. There was edible glitter on top of this one but I just don’t like the idea of edible glitter so I had to scrape the top layer of frosting off. Many of the cupcakes had it on top as well.
The wide variety of flavor options were intriguing and my curiosity for them would bring me back here. The décor was not too cutzie like many bakeries and the staff was very polite.
There’s no seating outside but with dallas weather that’s not a problem during the summer at all. This bakery shares a parking lot with a few other restaurants and I’ve always had a hard time finding a spot in front of this bakery. But there is extra garage parking right around the corner on Thomas.
If you’re a fan of very sweet frosting then this is your place. I will come back again to try another flavor and maybe I’ll have a better cupcake.

The cupcakery use to be really good, but lately (my last two visits) the cupcakes have been dry and bland.
I will go back again and give it another try.
