I was staying at the NYLO a block away for a business trip and we all went here for the lunch buffet. It was an old-school saloon style setup. Very relaxed and the selection was what I would call quaint. You pay $ 11 and serve yourself. Very nicely done, potato salad, macaroni n cheese, beans, rice, three meats, some greens and desert cakes and cookies. I didn’t see any pie :(The staff was great. I am definitely a fan. I don’t know what goes on at night, so I can’t comment on that.

This bar has seen its hay day several years ago. It is now a dive bar, old, dusty, empty… dead. We wanted a cold beer and was told by the stoned«security» guy we needed at ticket. When asked where we could go for a beer he replied«I don’t know». We will never go here again.

We went for the BAMA event this week which was great but wanted to go to the real Gilly’s as well. Found out it is not longer open as a bar but only an event space. We were really disappointed with this. They should open one by Jerry’s World. They need a large bar that can handle large crowds in that area.

This is a cowboy bar and dance club. There is trash all over the floor, which is super slippery from spilled drinks and who knows. If u see someone who is popular like Ryan Bingham be ready to be ready to be squished. Especially if your with someone that want to be in front of the stage. Lot of people that were over served. Leaving was another cluster and there are no cop out helping to direct traffic so you are on your own. But if you want to catch a cab there are tons of them waiting for you as you get out of the venue.

One star for having the Urban Cowboy Mechanical Bull(so the sign says) and for having a Bruce Springsteen & E Street Band signed guitar. Sign out front says they have Dallas’ best burger and bbq. Good thing I’ve been in Dallas long enough to know better. I came here for two reasons. To visit a Gilleys replica(or wanna be) and for the proudly proclaimed bbq. As for the bbq, you get either brisket, sausage, chicken or turkey. What?! No ribs??! They had four meats to choose from: brisket; sausage; turkey; chicken. I went with brisket and sausage on the two meat platter for $ 11.50. Platter was also supposed to have beans, coleslaw, potato salad and bread. It was missing the potato salad. I asked for fatty brisket, but, received extra lean. I think they thought I meant fat cut brisket because that was some thick cut pieces. The brisket was placed on the plate with bbq sauce on top of it. That is a major red light! Anyone in the bbq world knows that sauce is an option, not, a must. One bite into the brisket and it was clear why they tried to flavor it up with some store bought generic sauce. I attempted to scrape off the sauce so I could get a good taste of the meat. It was very dry and tough. Seriously lacked in flavor, which led me to believe that this was some pre-cooked stuff that is bought in bulk. The brisket was a major fail. The sausage had a nice burn char on it. Not over done, but, just right. As for the sausage? Well, it was damn near as dry as the brisket. The only difference is I didn’t choke when I tried to swallow. The flavor of the sausage was similar to store bought Hillshire Farms. Both meats were too dry and flavorless. Maybe they’re trying to do some kinda jerky bbq? I won’t even get into the sides, as, I’m not a fan of them anyway. I will say that the area where they have the onions, okra etc looked typical of a place like this. Nothing fresh happening there. Poor onions looked like they were begging for some water. The holder for the plastic ware was dirty. There was dried on food on it. Nasty! Floors were dirty as were a lot of tables. I must have just missed a lunch rush. The store felt nasty, looked nasty, food was nasty, and, the topper: I went to the bathroom and there were boogers on the wall by the men’s urinal. Why, guys, do some of you feel a need to do this? They should really wash those things off the wall. Welcome to the Nasty list. Note: I can handle Nasty(to an extent) as long as you have some damn good food.

We decided to stop here and eat prior to a concert at the South Side Ballroom(next door) to save time. 7:00 pm on a Saturday night. We walked in with someone from security at the door — not a hostess. He just stood there and so we asked if we needed to wait to be seated or seat ourselves. He said we could sit anywhere, so we did. Place was pretty empty but a few people at the bar. We sat for several minutes with no one coming over to greet us, so we finally walked up to the bar and picked up a paper xeroxed menu. The bartender was visiting with a customer at the bar. Decided what we wanted and still no one. We looked around and saw an «order yourself» counter. We didn’t notice it when we came in and it was behind the bar from where we were sitting. After ordering our food they gave us a table-number stand and we sat back at our table. Finally had to go to the bar to order a beer. $ 5 in a plastic solo cup like at a keg party with 2″ head. They bartender had no sense of urgency and moved at a snails pace like everything was«chill». The food came quickly and was actually brought to us by an employee — I hesitate to call her a server. She sat our food down and started to walk away. We stopped her and asked about silverware and ketchup. She said it was all at the«fixings bar». Then she made some comment about them just having gotten slammed and them recovering from it. ?? So we got our own stuff and ate. The 2 stars I gave was for the food. The hamburger and club sandwich were both good. That employee never came back to check on us. We actually saw her sit at the bar and text on her phone for a few minutes before clearing dirty dishes. We watched 2 more couples come in with the same«figure it out yourself«experience. Maybe if we had known ahead of time or someone had actually taken the time to explain it, we wouldn’t have been so frustrated. It clearly says on their website that it is a RESTAURANT and so I would have expected service to come with that.

There are times in life that a restaurant is more than just food. A great restaurant has great people working for them. Michael, the bartender lent me his phone charger after my phone was bone dry. Byron, the manager also helped me when I needed help. P. s. I hope I got their names right. Also the BBQ was very tasty. The beef was tender.

Sad Sad Sad Little Place(key words– SAD and LITTLE) We went last night to hear live country music, dance and get a bite to eat all in one place. Rule #1, if it sounds to good to be true-it usually is! The food was mediocre at best-Pulled pork nachos, loaded french fries, and fried pickle. The pulled pork on the nachos was decent, the rest was not. Ordered drinks from the bar which were served to us in the little«college style» keg party plastic cups. The opening«band» needed a lot more practice! We did not stay to see the head liners(who seemed to be pretty good on the website video we watched) because there was no dance floor!!! Skip it and head to Red River!

Disgusting old food, stale bread and Van de Kamps fish and chips still frozen in the box would have been safer to eat, paid $ 20 for two meals and never ate it. Go to Whataburger instead.

We ate here when we went to Firefest 2012. From the moment we walked in the door, the staff greeted us, and were very nice. We placed our order and the food arrived very quickly and was delicious. We couldn’t even finish it, they weren’t stingy with their servings that’s for sure. The waitress walked by our table a few times to check on us, but did not interrupt our dinner. She was very polite. The prices were great too especially for the quality of food you get. We even went back later and the cashier had hot fries waiting for us because we had told her we might get them and then left for a few minutes and came back. Five stars all the way. Service, Price, Cleanliness, Atmosphere. Awesome place, we will be going back when we’re up in that area again.

Service sucks along with the layout. The area is too big to have wait in line to order food. Saturday was the gearbox event and the place was packed with tired people waiting in line and just taking up tables. They should of been prepared and have waiters serve instead of self service at the counter and only one person on the register. It took 5 attempts from the servers to get my food order right because they had two people running food in a place packed inside and out with people. The saloon burger was good but the brisket burger was the bomb! Either way I won’t be back here for another year but ill bring my own food. the service here sucks plus the fugly bartender was rude! its not our fault you work at this job ugly lady. ITSNOTOURFAULT! and cover up that chest its gross to see an old lady try and wear a low V-cut shirt. you are not fooling nobody honey.

I was at the Palladium Ballroom for a concert when I walked into this place. My young son was with me and he got hungry. How convenient!!! We were able to come in there, order food that came out FAST and was GOOD. REALLYGOOD. There was seating and TVs(the Rangers were on, that was fun to be able to catch up on the game). Food prices were very fair. Will be back!

This place is fun, good food, lots of it, great music, patio that looks out at the city. The apple pie is worth the trip. You can sit outside and listen to the music through the open window. Fun fun people watching.

This review will reflect the experience we had here-quite average. Decided to go here on a whim, it wasn’t bad but nothing about the visit warrants a return trip in the near future. Started with an appetizer that sounded great-chicken, pablano peppers, and several other ingredients deep fried. It was nowhere near as good as I hoped. I had the jalapeño chop and the wife had the pot roast po’ boy. The flavor was good for both meals as it was for the corn casserole. Problem was the food was barely even lukewarm when it finally made it to the table. There were only two or three other patrons when we were there so I couldn’t figure out why it took so long to get our order. I think after finding out the temperature of the food they may have forgotten to bring it out. The only waitstaff was the bartender who came over to take our order. Will I ever try them again? Possibly-as I said the flavors were fine-the food just wasn’t brought out timely. The waitstaff was nonexistent and the décor was nothing special. Maybe they hit closer to the mark when they are a little busier.

I went to see Drake at Palladium Ballroom last night. We planned to have a nice sit down dinner before the show, but with traffic on a weeknight, it just didn’t work out that way. We decided to head straight to the venue and try to grab a quick bite there. Studio Bar and Grill is right next door to Palladium Ballroom and The Loft. I really didn’t know what to expect there, low-grade bar food at the most I guess. I was delightfully surprised with the menu, it had quite a bit to offer. Well… quite a bit more than expected. They were fully staffed and not very busy, which usually adds up to great service, but our waitress enjoyed being behind the bar more than actually serving us. She was friendly, but kept us waiting and having to look around for her several times throughout the hour we were there. There were lots of tvs, but that’s about all the atmosphere had to offer. It’s more of a bar than a restaurant, in that respect. I had chicken quesadillas(you can’t mess those up!) and a dinner salad. My friend went with the Jalapeño Pork Chop, as the waitress suggested. It was accompanied with corn casserole, loaded mashed potatoes and a dinner salad. He said everything was pretty good, but the potatoes were cold. My quesadillas were ok, most of the toppings ended up on the plate rather than in the actual quesadilla, but I stuffed them back in. I’m not a fan of mushrooms(menu wasn’t specific) and I could have done with a lot less onions and more chicken. Drinks were good, everything was decently priced. If you’re heading to a show, this isn’t a bad last minute bite to eat.
