Delicious tacos in a mall? YES. I ordered the two taco deal with rice & beans. Got the fried fish and brisket tacos. They were delicious! Particularly the fish taco.

Something is fishy about this place… Yes, that’s right fish tacos all up in this food court! :) It’s not my usual choice, but hey– I was hungry in a hurry and have a weakness for fish tacos anytime I see them on a menu. So there you have it. Plus the other food court options were either burgers or something super greasy and processed. No thanks. Tin Star is made fresh to order and my tacos came out warm and delicious within minutes. First bite: Whoa! I don’t know if I was just starving or if it was just that delicious but it hit the spot. So much so, that I thought about going back the next day just to order the same thing. the coleslaw was sweet sprinkled throughout that I didn’t even need to drench my meal in salsa or sour cream. For $ 8, I got one fried and one grilled white fish taco served with warm steam rice and black beans. The simple fact that you can get fresh food at a food court that is this flavorful and tasty is easily a 4-star worthy business in my book. Talk about a pleasant(and cheap) surprise!

Ahh the food court at Northpark… who knew it held somewhat surprising casual eateries. Sometimes shopping can whip up quite an appetite. After doing a few laps around the massive mall, I was ready to chow down but in a jiffy and on a dime. Cue — the food court. While I looked around the food court, I locked eyes at each restaurant in deep thought. Did I want Chinese food saturated in salty sauce and grease? Did I want to dine at an offense fast food chicken place(the one that shall not be named), or did I want some fresh looking, zesty tacos? Bingo. Plus, I’d never dined at Tin Star before and it seemed like the best option. Much to my wonderful surprise they offered grilled fish tacos! Other than flimsy tacos consumed in grease and meat with a gooey consistency offered at some fast-food taco spots, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try grilled fish(gasp!). Though, they served me tempura shrimp when I did ask for grilled, the slaw, onions, and tomatoes were fresh and mixed to make a delicious medley. I was also impressed with the side of rice and beans — not too much food to the point of disgust and black beans, not refried! Gotta love that. Real tex mex indeed. Well… for the food court anyway!

My cousins claim that this is one of their favorite places to eat before they moved and dragged me here for breakfast tacos. — Chorizo breakfast taco — REALLYREALLYGOOD! I’m a big fan of well-made chorizo(not too dry and well-marinated) and this place delivered! — Bacon and potato breakfast taco — the potatoes were a bit dry and not very flavorful. I didn’t hate this taco, but I didn’t particularly enjoy it either. — Queso is very good, not as thin and creamy as some other restaurants, but very thick and tasty(that’s what she said). — Great salsa, very spicy without being over the top. Soft tortillas and fresh cheese in the tacos as well. Definitely will come here for breakfast again. Bonus: Breakfast on a Sunday == the most empty I’ve ever seen North Park mall. This place is located in the food court, second floor.

Shopping and eating. One of the best combos in life. So we did a little shopping, so we had to do a little eating. We wandered the food court and Tin Star peaked our interest. My lunch: 2-Taco combo for less than 8 bucks. Comes with green chili rice and black beans — I opted for all beans. It was yuuumy. Taco choice number one: Traditional Pork — pork, blended cheese, shredded lettuce, Pico de Gallo — Tender and flavorful. I am a carnitas type of girl. Must have my porky taco. Taco choice number two: Grilled Vegetables — Portabellas, Grilled Onion, Roasted Corn, Sweet Potato Straws, Pesto, Sour Cream — You couldn’t even tell that this was a meatless taco. Very hearty and filling. I truly enjoyed this one. Gotta love shrooooms. And the potato straws, what a cool idea — will have to try this dish at home. I gotta stop writing these reviews at night. I am getting the serious munchies.

This location is in the food court at North Park Mall. I had the Santa Fe salad with grilled steak and the southwest ranch dressing. It was delicious. Great meal for a food court.

i’ve had a few tacos here and my favorite by far is the grilled veggie one. at first i thought the shoe string sweet potatoes were going to be gross because they weren’t super crispy but it was pretty awesome. I can live without their rice and beans because it wasn’t that great. I highly suggest getting guac and chips as a side and a cup of their mango iced tea. free refills ftw!!! :D

I just needed something quick and cheap for lunch in honor of my friend, Hannah, who btw is not mexican. She’s half puerto-rican but we just pretend cause it gives us an excuse to celebrate! Glad to see Tin Star added grilled tiliapia tacos on the menu since I’m not a fan of the typical fried fish tacos! They were came with some slaw on top and rice and beans. I had to add quite a bit of lime to give it some ZING! It was decent and just what I needed at the time. I am a fan of their salsa tho!

Fresh and hot mall food, I can’t complain! The veggie taco was sooo good! Rice, meh. Beans, undercooked and crunchy. But YAY for the chips and salsa and the mango sweet tea… if I eat anywhere else in the food court, I will have to get my drink from Tin Star from now on.

Tin Star is a pretty good option in the Northpark food court. It’s Americanized Tex-Mex, and while I haven’t tried anything fantastic, the food is consistent, reasonably priced, and reliably decent. What more could I ask for in a mall food court? I’m partial to the buffalo chicken tacos myself, but everything I’ve tried has been fine.
