Awesome service and meal! We were seated immediately and greeted by our waiter Ivan who told us why YO was the best restaurant in Dallas. As if we needed more convincing, he recited the evening specials. Ivan made perfect recommendations for wine and our meal arrived within what seemed like just a few minutes. Everything was seasoned perfectly and cooked to order. Portions were just right. Ivan continued to check on us during our meal. Overall, the value, service, and ambience made it a perfect place for dinner.

I do have some really good things to say about Y O Ranch. Our server, Ri-shel(that’s the phonetic spelling), was great. She was bright and attentive and we really enjoyed her. The food was good. My burger was burnt on one side and the bun wasn’t consistent. I’m assuming that both are made in house and that’s why the bun wasn’t perfect looking. My husband how the mac and cheese and it was very good. Everyone at our table seemed pleased with the food. We were charged for bringing in an outside cake. I have brought cakes to all kinds of restaurants and I have never been charged extra to eat my own cake. It would be helpful for that to be listed on their Unilocal page and their website. The excuse we were given was«Because we serve dessert here.» Again, not something I have encountered at other restaurants. If it was something they offered on their menu, I would be more understanding but I brought in a strawberry cake, not something currently offered. They did have someone come and cut the cake and serve the cake, so at least we got that. There was a roach in the restroom, as well as only one of the soap dispensers working(ironically the one that wasn’t working was the fancier of the two). The door to the stall that I used also was not in good condition and got stuck closed so I had to pull very hard to get the door to open again. I’m marking the restaurant down 2 stars because of not properly advertising the $ 15 cake fee and for the bathroom.

I’ve eyeballed this place a couple times on Unilocal as well as in person without actually giving it a try. I couldn’t understand what the big deal was? I finally went and had the buffalo fillet because who else serves that? Whoa. I get it now. Also paired with excellent service and a unique atmosphere. Will come again as well as recommend to others.

Really outstanding steaks and service. Great and varied menu including Buffalo steaks. My associate and I ordered our steaks rare and the other was Pittsburg style and both cooked to perfection. Service was discrete, attentive and prompt. Never had to ask for water, one of the hallmarks for me. Appetizer we loved was Deep Ellum Fried Pimento Fritters. Amazing! Try the Roasted Sweet Corn Bisque. Out of this world. Prices are $$$$ but worth every penny. The only small disappointment was the bread. Very bland, doughy, and soft crust. Special occasion deserves YO Ranch Steakhouse. Enjoy!

This is an authentic Texas steakhouse. If you are curious to see what it is like to be a ranger go ahead. This is a «wild-game» oriented joint –the décor is full of antelope ears and skinned animals… Dishes to look forward to: Chicken fried lobster! Not sure if that is a Texas dish at all but everyone recommends it and it tastes great. Antelope carpaccio Venison roll ups Quail Filet mignon Ribeye Pickled pear carpaccio(dessert) Pecan pie dessert Excellent service. Enjoy! Excellent service.

The steaks were excellent. The only things I had a problem with were they got my salad wrong, the vegetables were wrong and my daughters steak was overcooked. Had it not been for that they would have gotten 5 stars. PS the bread pudding was excellent

Par Excellence! My friend made a 6pm reservation, however we called to inform the restaurant that we would arrive 20 minutes late and they happily accommodated us(on a busy Saturday evening.) Our waitress Rochelle went out of her way to give us an excellent experience. She recommended several appetizers: Venison and Chicken Fried Lobster, both of which we delicious. Both my friend and I ordered the steak with a side of smoked baked potatoes which was divine and cooked to our exact specifications. In terms of pricing, the two rounds of drinks were both delicious and for a steakhouse of such high quality the prices were very affordable. Both cocktails were $ 10 each. I didn’t like that all of the sides were al-a-carte and the steak didn’t come with any sides, as $ 9 for the basic baked potato was outrageous. However, I hesitate to complain about that price as the service was amazing. After such great service I asked for the manager to share my excitement for Rochelle. The manager was so nice and began sharing about the history of the restaurant and historic Y O Ranch. What made this experience event more special was that the manager took us on a private tour of the full restaurant and historic items in the restaurant.

I had a friend who wanted to have steak and the food was good but the steak was a lot smaller than we anticipated. It also wasn’t very filling but it did taste really good. I got a salad with Salmon and I really enjoyed it, the Salmon was delicious. We got a free banana pudding dessert for free and it was delicious so I would come here again because the prices aren’t too bad at all.

Big win here for a semi-random Unilocal find — we needed some steak but didn’t want to drive, and this place fit the bill perfectly. Easily walkable from our downtown hotel, reasonable price, and they let us in wearing tennis shoes. We skipped appetizers and went right to the steak — ribeye for both of us — along with the tabasco goat cheese grits and asparagus as sides. Steaks were very good, with a sort of Asian/soy marinade? A little more than just a salt and pepper crust, and it was really very good. Done properly, very flavorful. Quite enjoyable, absolutely zero complaints. Well except one. Each steak came with a small helping, maybe 4 or 5, of green beans. Like… the best I’ve ever had. Kind of pan fried, with wrinkly skins, but still crisp and bright green. I would have eaten a bushel of these. They don’t have them on the menu as a normal side, but they need to add it as an option immediately — I would order it every time, maybe twice. Both of us wolfed ours down before we even made a move towards the steak, in case they got cold. Asparagus was… well, asparagus. It’s always good with steak. And the grits were good but not exceptional — I wanted the cheese to be a bit more mixed in, but it was sort of broiled on top instead of adding to the creamy texture of the grits. Not a lot of hot sauce either, but a little, enough to add some interest. I think I would get these again, but I might also check to see if there were other options. As I mentioned, I think price was reasonable, the place wasn’t snobby, staff were very friendly, etc — definitely worth checking out if you find yourself in downtown Dallas and need some steaks.

Beautiful décor. Stunningly attractive Hostess. Ok, now to the actual review, of things that matter. Our waiter was awesome! Very attentive, and fast. He asked if it was our first time, so he took the time to explain everything, which was great! He made good solid recommendations. Apps. We ordered the queso, it was very tasty. Also ordered the venison balls. Bacon wrapped venison, with a layer of cheese, drizzled in honey mustard on a bed of rice. It was so tasty. Bread was good. Not normally a sourdough fan, this was above average. Butter was soft, and spread easy. Also had French bread. Salad was basic, but tasty. Fresh ground pepper is always a nice add on a salad. Steak. We both ordered the Buffalo Tenderloin, it came with side of garlic potatoes, and veggies. Also comes with 2 grilled Shrimp. I opted for double potatoes. My buddy, immediately salts, and peppers his, without even tasting first… I never do that. I took the first bite, it was crazy tender and crazy flavorful. As I was enjoying my tasty meat flavored pudding(ok, not quite that tender, but close), I notice my buddy eating bites with his potatoes. He should have tried it first :-) Side notes. We were there on their 20th Anniversary. Service was above and beyond awesome. Every waiter and waitress appeared to be on point. I hope it’s this way all the time, not just during this special day. I could tell my waiter was good at his job, for sure. He even brought us free soup to try, it’s their signature soup. It tasted great! Just didn’t have room after the meal. Considering what we had, our bill was very resonable. 102.35, for 2 amazing steak dinners. 2 appetizers. 2 whiskey on the rocks. I am normally a 20% tipper, however this guy got closer 27%. Don’t hesitate, just go!

Went to this restaurant while traveling in Dallas. A friend was able to get us seated easily using open table. Once we were in the place was really nice and the staff was great. Ordered a Moscow Mule that was good even though it wasn’t in a brass mug. I got the filet for dinner with the creamed spinach. Both were good. I was not wowed by the food, but with great service and awesome décor it is a place I would return.

Love! Located right off the DART is Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse. We did thorough research and discovered yes it’s Y then an O. Not the word, «yo!». The inside is pretty small and I can see how it gets packed during dinner hours. We came for an early lunch and were not the only group waiting outside for them to open the doors(at 11AM). The menu is pretty cut and dry as far as a steakhouse goes. Filet and such, a salmon dish, chicken, etc. I went with the chicken since it comes with garlic mashed potatoes and a side of veggies. Everything was perfectly cooked and nobody complained. The staff is on their A-game. If your drink was halfway gone, they came around with a full one for you. The dessert menu is also to die for. The pecan pie was some of the best I’ve ever had.

I should open by saying that I am not a regular steakhouse goer and our visit was a wine and dine meal given by vendors from our conference. So we were not paying the bill, though we have a rough idea of how much the overall meal rang up. The atmosphere is very nice though a bit dark for that upscale ambience. The restaurant was not very large for such a well-known steakhouse, so reservations are suggested for a late evening meal. The staff was very friendly, and while it took nearly an hour for our meal to come out, we were a party of 18 and they were very busy from the conference. Judging by tables around us, I don’t think this was a standard timeframe for small groups. Our glasses stayed full through the entire two hours we were there, and they had a good selection of wines. Steaks ranged from $ 35 – 60 depending on the cut and type of meat. Sides cost extra, which adds up, but they are family sized for sharing and too large for one person. For those looking for non-red meat, they had a few salads and one or two chicken dishes as well. Overall, I was not impressed with my meal. I ordered a smaller filet that was very tough when ordered well done. Rather than advising me to order a different steak for that level of doneness, the waiter said nothing. The filets I heard were tense at medium, however. The buffalo steaks seemed to be much more tender at higher levels of doneness, so I would advise ordering those if you prefer less pink. The sides were unique but we’re not spot on with flavor. The mashed sweet potatoes needed more spice and the Tabasco and goat cheese grits were too strong. The flavor was off when eaten alone and overpowered the steak when eaten together. The desserts were tasty all around, but they were very small portions for the price. I felt that the restaurant was overpriced for what we got, and we will not return unless a vendor insists on going and paying. For 18 people, the total bill was a little under $ 1000, with $ 250 of that for wine. So roughly $ 50/person for food. As someone who doesn’t prefer fancy steaks, I would have just as much preferred Outback Steakhouse, but most everyone else enjoyed it.

Thanks to Unilocal,I made a GREAT choice in coming to this restaurant. The food is AWESOME! The place is decorated so cool with mounted heads of deer, antelope, etc. It’s all decorated very tastefully though. I personally liked the atmosphere. The service was very good. Our waiter was very attentive and patient. I can be a little slow at deciding what to order. I got the Filet Mignon with carrots and green beans. Also I ordered the Mashed Potatoes to go along with it. For dessert I got the Cheesecake with Blueberries. Everything was cooked to perfection. Very delicious! This was definitely my favorite restaurant I ate at while I was in Dallas. It’s worth going back to Dallas just to eat here. Wish I could give them more than 5 stars also. I HIGHLY recommend!!!

Went here for a team dinner with many folks that are from other parts of the U.S. If you’re in Dallas and want a traditional Dallas Steak House, this is the place. They play 70 – 80’s country music in the background, which helps set the mood. The décor is traditional Dallas country, so authentic that you might expect JR to walk in at any time. Our private room had a large screen TV with the live Dallas Mavs game on much to the chagrin of the non-Mavs fans but hey, when in Rome… :-) Food: I had the trio meat plate which came with Elk, Quail and Buffalo all of which were perfectly cooked(mid-rare where appropriate). This was presented on cheese grits with vegetables fanned out slightly al dente. YUM! Why not 5 stars you ask? For steaks, there are better steak houses in Dallas that are slightly cheaper with better décor(I had a small bite of the ribeye). All in all you won’t go wrong if you have a group with varied tastes. For those that don’t partake in the red meat, the fish looked to be cooked perfectly and as I was told it was well seasoned and very tasty.

This place is pretty darn good. It is more casual than your traditional steak house. That can be nice if you are looking for a more relaxed time. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They were on top of everything and made several quality recommendations. We started with appetizers. The Deep Ellum Pimento Cheese Fritters were excellent. The fritters themselves had great tasted and the Tobasco Jam complimented them nicely. For my meal I ordered the Buffalo Filet Mignon. This was a very good steak. The seasoning really put it over the top. The meat was of course tender and cooked as I like it. I tried a few sides. The Gouda Mac & Cheese was tasty, but as you can imagine it was rich and flavorful. The fries were just ok. This is a very good option for steak in the area. The service and food make it an all around good option.

Located in downtown Dallas with paid parking next door, the atmosphere YO Ranch Steakhouse is nice casual, ranch house chic, tourist-bait and perfect for entertaining. My man and I celebrated the new year on the occasion of our visit. Service was receptive, fielded lots of questions, but a little harried/distant. Our server tried to bridge timing issue with a comped cup of chili – delicious by the way, though a tad heavy on the paprika. He also missed delivering one dish(the fried lobster) which thankfully did not make it to the bill. He did suggest at the start that we had plenty of food and might have omitted the lobster due to his(flawed) calculation. Our entrees for the night was varied and adventurous, though almost enough. We tried the boar sausage and venison rollups which made for finger-lickin-great starts. The savory-sweet corn soup which might seem a mundane entry in other settings made for a belly-warming and palate-pleasing experience. For a brussel sprouts lover, I had no complaints with YO Ranch’s salty-sweet-tangy side – except maybe there wasn’t enough of it to share :). Our steaks were executed perfectly to the requested temperature. My prime ribeye seasoned lightly was well marbled and tender, slicing like butter. My man’s buffalo steak, though he was plenty warned that it was a leaner cut, did disappoint a little for failing to deliver the promised garlic pepper crust. For a steakhouse of this caliber, we expected to splurge a bit, though in the case of the game meat starters, we didn’t find the flavor-to-value ratio to be proportionate. Still, YO Ranch Steakhouse delivered a solid, drive-worthy dining adventure. I hope to return for their fried lobster.

My wife and I were in town on business and this place came highly reccomended! It did not dissapoint! We started with the chicken fried lobster and it was excellent, such a different take on traditional lobster! I had the ribeye and it was hands down one of the best steaks I’ve ever had! Amazing flavor and just the right amount of marbling. The brussel sprouts, mac & cheese, and cheesy tabasco grits were totally on point! We will certainly be back when in Dallas again! Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the food because we were never served. The waiter took our drink order, brought our drinks and never returned. When we asked another waiter if we could have a waiter he said«how so?» We explained that our waiter had never returned and he seemed annoyed that we had asked for service. We left, won’t return. Tony Street, chef/owner, is a class act! Immediately after my post, he reached out with his regrets about our experience. He convinced us to give YO another chance. So glad we did! This time our experience was a complete turnaround. Service from John was impeccable! Manager Roderick made sure that we were comfortable and enjoying our experience. And the food — perfection! YO is definitely a new favorite.

The next time my brother in law comes into town unexpectedly and we arrange to meet with the two brothers that live in Dallas, which happened to be one of them’s b’day, we will take our celebration somewhere else! Manager sucked at handling the situation. We will take our $ 125MEALFORTWO somewhere else. Plenty of other places in Dallas! I don’t know what the other two spent on their meal, but I know it wasn’t cheap. Glad the fourth brother wasn’t subjected to the humiliation — he stayed in Illinois. Update: I am pleased that the owner reached out to my husband almost within an hour. Not sure how he got his phone number, but very happy that my issue was addressed in such a prompt manner. That was our first time dining there, and I am comforted knowing that my opinion mattered. Thank you very much Tony. We just might come back now. I fly into Dallas en route to Puebla, Mexico for a wedding where I am the best man! «You the fucking best, you the fucking best, you the fucking best, you the fucking best. You the best I ever had, the best I ever had, best I ever had.» This steak is the best I ever had! Haha just kidding, but it ranks up there! I took an Über here from the airport, and I have an excellent conversation with the driver, who wants to show me around south India sometime. I ask for the New York Strip 10 oz., which is a huge piece of meat. My meat can’t compare. Medium well. I don’t bother with the sides because I’ve got a flight to catch. It’s seasoned really well. This meal comes with mashed potatoes and seasoned broccoli and salad stuff. The hospitality reminds me of the Mississippi hospitality. The inside is nice blah blah blah. TSA be laughing all them rubbers in my luggage gh. I think everything was about $ 35.

Y O Ranch Steakhouse? What is that? Definitely one of the very under-advertised steakhouses in Dallas. Although, upon first step into this restaurant, it reeks of classic Texas — there’s wood and animal head décor all over. This review is for lunch and let’s preface it, I had VERYLOW expectations for this place. Now, what to order you may ask? The menu denoted the Bison Filet as the«Food Network recommended» item. That’s like placing it in glaring lights, screaming«ORDERME, ORDERME»! And yes, indeed, I ordered the Bison Filet — cooked medium. The steak came out beautifully, had a good seasoning to it, and was accompanied by some perfectly seasoned mashed potatoes, grilled veggies and two shrimps. I was starving, so def devoured this meal in happiness.

When Dining In Dallas… A local suggested I go here… Nice recommendation. I will keep this short and sweet. — Greeted immediately with a smile and welcome from the hostess –Service was good not great –Loved the atmosphere, you defiantly know your in Texas with the authentic décor. –Had Caesar Salad, Steak with mash potatoes and veggies. Served hot and in a timely manner. –The manager Steve swung by the table to ask how our lunch was… thought it was a lovely touch of service. He even took the time to share the story behind Y.O. Ranch. Pretty interesting how everything came to be. Would absolutely recommend this spot to others! Happy to have gone somewhere authentically local. P. S. If looking for a private event this place has a cool space in the back with its own entrance, bar, and restrooms that would be perfect for a birthday bash, wedding reception, or business meeting. The rib-eye is really juicy and well flavored. The steak is perfectly cooked. The steamed vegetables was fresh and seasoned well. The mashed potatoe was ok. I wished it was more buttery. Lastly, house salad is good. The service was good but the food took forever to bring out when it’s during the afternoon on a Sunday and not a lot of customers where there yet. Overall, good food and location. Will come again This place is located near Downtown Dallas. Be aware that you need to have change to park at the meters. Down side is no customer parking lot unless I’m not aware of one.

What a cool place! Established in 1820 this restaurant is for meat lovers! Pure fresh grass fed beef. Don’t mess with any other dish other than the beef. I would recommend the mushrooms with onions, goat cheese grits and bourbon sweet potatoes as a fresh option to your side dishes. Ask the manager for a tour of the back room which was built from an old barn at the Y O ranch. Great place to dine at the west end!

This was truly an awesome dinner. Full disclosure is that the rating is for the food primarily, not so much the service; while not appauling, not what I expected given the prices. Everything we had was cooked to perfection with great flavors. We started off with a shrimp and grits appetizer, then for entrees we had the chicken fried lobster(please DO try this! It’s a Steakhouse, but this was the best thing the 3 of us had), we also had a steak and the salmon. All were cooked and seasoned very nicely. Then,(yes we continued to be glutinous) we had the chocolate torte and sweet potato crème Brulee. The crème Brulee was awesome! One of the best I’ve ever had. If you’re still reading this, it means you want the whole story… the one critique I will extend is that I was surprised at how slow the service was. Luckily, we were there to an enjoy an evening, so we didn’t feel like it was a big deal, but I can see it being an issue if someone is on any kind of schedule. Not only was the service slow, it was extremely inattentive, which was worse than it being slow. We saw our server at critical points, but not in a timely manner. If the food hadn’t been as stellar as it was, I would be giving a 3 rating based on the service.

We had a great evening at the YO Ranch Steakhouse while we were in Dallas. Our waiter was fantastic and was able to explain the menu in detail when we had questions — from drinks to entrees to dessert. He was also prompt and very friendly. We loved the atmosphere with the ‘ranch’ feel to it, it was very nice. Lots of dark wood and intimate seating. We were seated with a great view of the bar and TV screens, but also had a view of the restaurant which was nice. For our drinks, I ordered one of the martinis and really loved it. My husband opted for one of their house tequilas with lime. For purchasing it, we received a YO shot glass to take home — a really great way to commemorate our evening. He thought the tequila was smooth, and enjoyed it. We split the iceberg salad to start, which was wonderfully crisp with a fantastic creamy dressing. We ordered the Tequila Sunrise Chicken, and the Mixed Game Grill for our entrees. My chicken had fantastic flavors to it, and was very moist. I really liked how the chicken was well stuffed with cheese and tomatoes. The chicken lollipop off to the side was very tender and juicy. My husband’s Mixed Game Grill came with a bison filet, a venison chop, and two quail medallions. I tried the bison and the elk — the venison was my favorite, as it was succulent and melted in my mouth. My husband enjoyed the bison most for its wonderful flavor and tenderness. All in all, we had a fantastic evening here and I’m definitely glad we went! I really liked their interesting and unique choices on the menu, the atmosphere and the friendly service staff. Four stars!

This place is worth a stop if you’re in Dallas and are a carnivore. They have a wide selection of wild game dishes, but I went with the petit filet and fried lobster tail. I was here for a work convention and we had a group of 8. They accommodated us nicely. Our waiter was knowledagble, though not overly patient. I guess you have to be a little aggressive to get a group of 8 to quiet down and listen to the specials. He was great at filling our wine glasses though. I appreciated that. We tried two of the appetizers, I’m not exactly sure what — besides one was a ball wrapped in meat, served over a bed of rice, and the other was a cheesy ball, deep fried. I liked the cheesy ball the best. The veggies were also very good and cooked well. The wine selection was great, and my martini was on point. You will need a reservation — as this is in the Historic West End area of town. Also, there is no valet parking, but there is a lot a block down that we were able to park in easily. I did take away one star because out of 8 of us, none of us had our steak cooked to order. My medium-rare was a solid medium-well, and vice versa for a few of my colleagues. For a $ 50 steak at a steak house, that’s a non-negotiable. And we had to ask three times and it wasn’t until mid-entrée that they finally brought us bread. But otherwise, this was one of my favorite stops during my week in Dallas.

Bison filet mignon is a must! Never heard of this place till my boyfriends uncle told us and I wanted to try it right away. Made reservations for my anniversary dinner on a Saturday. Arrived a little early, seated right away, water brought to the table. This place has lots of random steps everywhere so make sure to watch your step wherever you walk. You wouldn’t think a steak house could be fancy but this was one! We started off with some drinks. I ordered a saddle something martini(forgot the entire name) which has vanilla vodka and a couple pineapple mixes. I enjoyed the cocktail it was sweet and tropical! The boyfriend ordered the garrison bros on the rocks, he loved it, he likes it much better than crown on the rocks. Appetizer. Venison roll ups! Bacon wrapped venison! This was good, soft and crunchy. Entrée. I ordered the buffalo/bison filet mignonette. 10oz filet no sides but it comes with a little bit of vegetables(green bean and carrots). My boyfriend ordered the wild game mixed grill… And today’s was a 5oz buffalo filet, 2 quail medallion, and lamb! Ordered 2 sides Gouda Mac and cheese and sautéed spinach. Everything we had was wonderful! The bison was so tender and juicy, one of the best steaks I’ve ever had! My boyfriend loved the lamb, the quail not so much. Gouda Mac and cheese was so flavorful and cheesy. Spinach was average but overpriced. I could only eat half my entrée, I was overwhelmed by how much meat we had ordered. We got a free dessert for our anniversary! Originally we wanted the lemon blueberry cheesecake but they were out. Crème brûlée is one of my favorites so I didn’t mind getting that instead. 2 drinks, appetizer, 2 entrees, and a free dessert. If the dessert wasn’t free our bill would still be less than $ 200. This place is phenomenal! I plan to come back here again for another occasion!

The food is simply fantastic. Okay, it’s Texas. You have to make a great steak or you don’t stay in business long. But the sides!!! Crazy! I’m sitting at the bar having conversations with other diners and everybody is freaking out about the Gouda Mac & Cheese. My neighbor stammered briefly and then said«All I can say is ‘it’s great!’» I was torn between the Maple Dijon Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon or the Tabasco Goat Cheese Creamy Grits. I choose the latter and then almost ordered the former for my dessert. However, the best part of all is just the fun friendly and professional attitude of serving staff. Justin and Jose behind the bar remember everybody’s name and are charming, entertaining, and just great company as well as providing spectacular service. I will return every time I get to Dallas.

Wow. We LOVEDYO. We actually had reservations at a different restaurant in town, but after doing some research decided to go to YO instead because it was walking distance from our hotel. We were super impressed. The service was fantastic — the server was very knowledgable about the liquor selection and the food. I started out with a margarita with their housemade tequila and it was great, then we switched to wine for dinner. To start out, I had the wedge salad and my fiancé had the tomato salad, which was basically a Caprese, and a good one. For dinner, he had the elk tenderloin, and I had the mixed grill plate, which I believe changes every night or so. Mine included a small buffalo filet, quail medallions and some venison chops. It was all AMAZING. So good. My least favorite was probably the quail, but only because the buffalo and venison melted in my mouth and blew me away. For sides, we had sauteed spinach and gouda mac and cheese. Both were delicious, but we scarfed down our entrees so didn’t have much room for them. We finished off with the apple crisp dessert by recommendation of our server, and it was also great. Seriously everything we had was delicious, and we loved the overall feel of the place. It was a nice steakhouse, but still very Texas, from the décor to the gamey food(and I mean that in a good way). I definitely recommend YO if you’re looking for a good meal, and I don’t doubt that we’ll be back sometime when we’re back in town.

What a fantastic place! The Missus and I were in Dallas for a few days, so we decided to have a date night and this place, which sounded absolutely delicious. The Missus had one of their steaks.(I honestly don’t remember which one. My bad.) Anywho, she asked for a medium rare cook(Which is the only way to order a steak, imo.) and it came out cooked perfectly. I had the Chicken Calvados, which consisted of pistachio crusted chicken topped with apple brandy cream and served over wild rice. It far surpassed my expectations. The apple brandy cream added a nice flavor without overpowering the pistachio and the chicken was nice and juicy. My only real beef with YO is their vegetables. Part of this is my fault as I didn’t take the time to look at all of their sides. However, if you don’t order a different side, you are served carrots and green beans. I was not a fan of how the carrots were prepared(They were sliced horizontally and extremely crunchy.) and the green beans were just meh. Once again though, they had other sides that looked fantastic… I just forgot to change my order up. I had one bite of their chocolate torte, which was so rich that I only needed one bite. It was delicious though.(I don’t really have a sweet, so I don’t usually comment on desserts, but this one was too good to not comment on.) All in all, I was very pleased with this place and would recommend it to other.

Halfway through our restaurant week reservations and this is definitely our best experience thus far. We are definitely coming back with more friends and family. Service was excellent and so was the food. Eats: green pea and ham bisque lamb chops pineapple carpaccio So the ham was more like delicious crispy bacon, but who’s here to complain? Lamb chops were a good portion. Usually at nice places you get two tiny chops and then you’re still hungry. Sad day. And the pineapple carpaccio(it really does look like carpaccio) comes with a delicious(I can’t remember the flavor) sorbet. Eat everything. My sister and friend both ordered the blackened salmon. Nice crispy outside. Super tender inside. My friend also got the venison roll-ups. Excellent recommendation from our waiter. I just really wanted the green pea bisque. We’ll definitely be returning.

I’m voting Yo the best value of all 5 days that we are out for restaurant week! I started off with the Scotch eggs which was a quail egg in sausage breaded and deep fried. Savory and tasty on a bed of seasoned arugula. My husband had the smoked salmon with cream cheese crusty toast. Both of had the 14 oz ribeye. It was cooked just right with a side of mashed potatoes and some green beans and carrot slices. It was so much meat that we’ll be having steak and eggs for breakfast using our leftovers. Dessert was absolutely the richest dark chocolate cake I’ve ever had. I love chocolate but I should have gotten the sorbet. Much lighter after such a heavy meal. Although they didn’t have a signature cocktail for restaurant week, I ordered the lemon drop martini and my husband had a glass of red wine. The lemon drop martini was awesomeness! All the above and a 20% tip for a mere $ 115! What a deal! It was our least expensive dinner experience of the week. The service btw was excellent. We will hit this place up again. Their regular menu looked very reasonable. All in all, a great dining experience.

As a somewhat recent transplant to Dallas, I’ve heard of a number of high end steakhouses, however YO wasn’t on that list, after coming here for Restaurant Week with some friends, it’s definitely been listed as a keeper on my book. If you’re reading this and haven’t picked a Restaurant Week location, this may be the spot for you. For $ 35 you get a fantastic 3 course meal that will definitely satisfy even the hungriest of stomachs Atmosphere/Décor: 4 The décor is very Texas with antlers, pictures of cattle, and other items that remind of us an older and simpler time. Some people may enjoy the tribute to the wild west, but others possibly not so much. Service: 5 stars Our server was polite, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. I just wished I remembered the genteelness’s name that served my table so I could give him a personal shout out here. Food: 4.5 stars Where this place shines is the food. Having tried a number of dishes here I can quite honestly say these guys know how to cook their meat, and while that may be what they hang their hat on, these guys aren’t just a one trick pony Bread: 4.5 I was too busy scarfing these down to pay attention to the details. There was nice nutty texture and good chew but even after eating 3, I can’t remember much else about it. Hopefully the quantity I ate will help you evaluate the quality. Green pea and ham bisque: 4.5 I have to admit I surprised to see this on a menu at a steakhouse and even more suprised to see a friend order it… then I tried it. The bisque had a very rich and luxurious mouth feel finished with a drizzle crème fraîche. The prosciutto added a very nice smokey and savory component to round out the sweetness from the peas. Very well done. Give me a bowl of this for lunch with some bread and I’ll be a happy camper. Scotch quail eggs: 4 These suckers are tasty. The eggs were cooked hard, but not overdone, the sausage was meaty, and the exterior had a nice crunch. My only criticism is I wish the egg was boiled a little softer to add some creaminess and while I appreciate the lightly dressed greens to cut the richness of the eggs, the ratio of greens to eggs was off. I admit as good as this dish was, I thought I was looking at a salad when it first arrived Vension rollups: 4 I don’t know how they did it, but this appetizer had almost no gaminess to it whatsoever. There was a nice heat from the jalepeno and bacon always makes it better. Excellent flavors. I did find the venison to be a bit on the chewy side though. Ribeye: 4.5 Their 14 oz boneless prime ribeye was pretty tasty. Cooked to a perfect mid rare, well seasoned, served only with a simple side of mashed potatoes, green beans, and carrots. Did I wish for a elaborate plate with compound butters, wine reductions, or other accompaniments? Absolutely not, a good steak doesn’t need a sauce and this ribeye certainly qualified as that. I just wish it were a bone in cut for added flavor. Lamp chops: 4 I can’t say enough about how well these guys cook meat. The lamb was no exception. Most of the gaminess was cooked out, but the meat was still plenty juicy… again cooked at the perfect mid rare. The lamb itself was coated in a plum glaze and served over sweet potatoes. I tried a few small pieces of a friend’s plate and while I enjoyed it, I felt like the meat was a touch too sweet for my liking. Venison tenderloin: 4.5 I’ll start off by saying this dish may not be for everyone as there is an inherent gaminess to the venison. That said, if you do like your deer, order this. You get 2 generously sized lean thick cut medallions cooked any way you like it paired with a sweet wine reduction. At rare/mid rare it was still plenty tender. I tried the meat without the sauce and personally liked it just the way it was. Because I didn’t try the sauce I can’t comment on it. Pineapple carpaccio: 4 Some may criticize this dish for being too simple, but honestly after gorging myself on everything else, simple was the best way to end the evening for me. The sweetness of the thin cut pineapple sheets was offset by the acidity of the prickly pear celery root sorbet which helped cut everything I just ate in the previous 45 minutes. Flourless chocolate cake: 4 YO’s take on a classic. Rich, decadent, and chocolately, the way a good one should be. For those with a sweet tooth or a chocolate addiction, this will definitely bring a smile to your face Value: 5 stars For $ 35YO Steakhouse’s Restaurant Week menu is hard to beat. Fantastic service, good selection of apps, and entrees, with contrasting desserts for differing palates. Let’s not forget about how ridiculously spot on they are with cooking their meat.
