Dalton General Store

This grocery/​sandwich shop is a great bargain and great deli sandwiches. Double meat and cheese on home baked bread is only 3.95. Bulk foods and vegetables always available. Worth the drive. Great scenery on the way.

The Dalton General Store has everything you need for a day on the river, meal on-​the-​go, or light grocery shopping. It is the only store like this for miles and serves a vital role to the local community and visitors to the Eleven Point river.
It is known for its deli meats and cheese selection. They have wonderful, fresh sandwiches that are made to order. I recommend the swiss cheese and cajun turkey. Turnovers and donuts are available in the morning.
For a day on the river, you can also pick up candies, soda, or snacks in the store which is next to the Kirkpatrick river access parking lot and boat ramp. As a courtesy to the Mennonite family operating the store, modest attire is appreciated when you come off the river.
They have a very wide variety of items in the store for old fashioned cooking (for example, tapioca pearls) and offer unique artisinal preserves and canned items. You will want to take a moment to browse the aisles and appreciate the unique items.
My family is in the Dalton area and we go to this store a couple of times per week for the deli items and fuel. And, it saves an eighteen mile trip to Pocahontas for a loaf of bread or gallon of milk.
