Southgate Center

Westlake Shopping Center’s younger brother. Or is it older brother? Maybe it’s sisters instead of brothers? Ahhh, who the hell cares… they’re siblings.
Not sure which came first now. I can probably Google it but I’m too lazy to do that.
This place has gone thru several transformations, most of it for the better. I remember back in the 80’s and this place was a dump. There was a small Filipino grocery store that sold expired items. There was even a Filipino barber that was a friggin pedophile. (That’s another story)
Now, it’s been revitalized while maintaining that classic look from the 50’s. Loved the orange and white color combination on the exterior, but now they changed it again to a dreary gray color. Don’t know why they had to change there.
It’s a small neighborhood strip mall that serves its purpose. There’s a Laundromat, Quickly, Subway, Salon, Dentist, US Post Office, Thai Restaurant, Chinese Restaurant, Korean Restaurant, Kumon, Dojo, Yoga, Library and even a place to do your taxes.
Parking can be a pain depending on the time of day, but there’s more parking in the back. There’s also the parking lot of Westlake as well as Burlington Coat Factory if you don’t have the patience to wait for someone to back out.
It is what it is: Nothing more, nothing less, but very convenient if you live in the area.
