I came here just to check out the library only to find that there’s a lot more going on at this facility than I would have imagined. Free or low cost classes(ESL, knitting, dance & zumba) 2 open basketball gyms, community rooms & event space for rent, a foosball & pool table… I mean really?! for a small community center I was impressed.

The Daly City War Memorial is a really beautiful venue! Two gyms and lots of spaces for activities. Plus the best sound system — EVER! Lots and lots of classes — Zumba, guitar, English as a Second Language, computers, Soul Line Dancing and lots more. Special events celebrating the holidays. Fantastic staff!

Nearly two years after their re-opening, the center is still looking like new. Besides being a nice venue, it is also a central location for information pertinent to Daly City life. Want to rent halls/rooms/clubhouses in Daly City?( ) Or to find public events going on in Daly City?( ) What about some gym time without contract-signups?( ) Nah, let’s just hang at Daly City’s main library( ) But, let’s take the elevator instead of the stairs to the library( ) Everything civic about Daly City can be found here. Great place for families; educational environment for kids and new media consumption for adults. Welcome to Daly City( )! Milestone: the 3500th «Useful» vote’s review…

WOW! Since this place reopened, it’s a far cry from its former self. They tore down the old center and modernized everything… and I mean everything. I’m glad they tore down the old place since I had a horrible accident there and I couldn’t go back because it was too traumatizing. Well, it was a stupid accident, which eventually required two major knee surgeries. But enough about that. Construction on the next building is still ongoing and I can’t wait what it will look like whne they’re done. But this place is now a multilevel floors of fun fun fun. They have two levels of basketball courts, complete with all the modern amenities such as a shot clock, scoreboard, buzzer and automatic retractable boards. It’s pretty neat since I often see the old style hand-cranked pulleys. Just like the Sunset Recreation Center in The City, they have all kinds of programs for everyone from one to ninety two. But it has one thing that trumps them all: a library. Yes folks, you can catch up on your reading while waiting for your kids playing ball. You can also rent a DVD for free if you have a library card. I usually use my kids’ instead. However, I haven’t deflowered her court yet since I’m still a little apprehensive about playing ball here. But eventually will once I get the proper protection.
