My daughter went through Donnas House, and I am so grateful for their regimen an guidance. I knew she was in a safe environment where she was growing and learning through the 12– step program. She has been clean since she left an is a productive member of society. Donnas House is a place that focuses on sobriety, stability, and teaches you the tools to live life on life’s terms. The staff is approachable, hands on, and are truly concerned for the individuals there. I highly recommend this place…

ATTENTIONCAREGIVERSANDTHOSEINRECOVERY — AVOIDTHISPLACE. I am a 53 year old marketing executive who has a son who is a recovering addict, bipolar and has a severe stomach condition call CVS. Every few months my son is unable to keep down his bipolar meds and gets really sick. Right after he entered Donnas House(and provided them with a list of the 14 mediations he’s on) he had such an attack. Versus working with him to help him get through it their recourse was to kick him out. Just to clarify, he did not relapse or use non-prescribed drugs… he was just very sick and in fact had to be hospitalized. They didn’t know how to handle my son’s medical illness and chose instead to evict him. The owner Amy Christle offered to refund my money but never followed through on her promise. I have since consulted an attorney who advised me that my son could have taken legal action as he has been medically and legally classified as disabled and is protected from this kind of treatment. Donnas House is an unlicensed facility with poor controls. For example, they let people in early recover(20 days) be house managers. Here are the issues as I see them. The owners are involved in taking your money and that’s it. After that they leave the operation to newly sober kids. The house is extremely overcrowded and probably violates zoning laws and is unclean. Finally, as caregivers we entrust our loved ones to these people and you hope they are good, fair Christians. Amy and Ryan(her husband) are not. They hide behind the name of some poor woman named Donna and take advantage of people and caregivers in tough situations.

I would never recommend donnas house to ANYONE looking for a sober living. This place is so unprofessional and unfairly run. I relapsed and was asked to leave for three days, which was completely understandable. But I was told once I returned in three days I was going to have to pay $ 1200 up front for next months rent, even though I still had a week left of that months rent. Which I had paid weekly and only $ 1000 altogether. So I had no choice but to leave and find somewhere else to live. Then I found out the owner was calling other clients parents to let them know I relapsed, which i find completely unprofessional. My mother also got a call about a client relapsing. I don’t see why that’s necessary to be telling private information to other families. On top of that, I was asked to remove all my belongings within 24 hours or they would be thrown away or donated. Even though they knew i had nowhere to take my stuff. And yet another client, who had relapsed a few days before me and still hasn’t returned a week later was allowed to leave his belongings for weeks. Why? Simply because he could afford to pay the $ 1200 up front. Donnas house isn’t about recovery, it’s about money.
